Psalms 38
1 `The salm of Dauid, to bythenke on the sabat. Lord, repreue thou not me in thi strong veniaunce; nether chastice thou me in thin ire.
Psaume de David, pour se souvenir du Sabbat. Seigneur, ne me réprimande pas dans ta fureur; ne me châtie pas dans ta colère.
2 For thin arowis ben fitchid in me; and thou hast confermed thin hond on me.
Car tes flèches m'ont transpercé, et tu as appesanti sur moi ta main.
3 Noon helthe is in my fleisch fro the face of thin ire; no pees is to my boonys fro the face of my synnes.
En ma chair il n'est plus rien de sain en face de ta colère; il n'est point de paix pour mes os en face de mes péchés.
4 For my wickidnessis ben goon ouer myn heed; as an heuy birthun, tho ben maad heuy on me.
Car mes iniquités se sont accumulées plus haut que ma tête; elles me pèsent comme un lourd fardeau.
5 Myn heelid woundis weren rotun, and ben brokun; fro the face of myn vnwisdom.
Mes meurtrissures sont infectes et gangrenées à cause de ma folie.
6 I am maad a wretche, and Y am bowid doun til in to the ende; al dai Y entride sorewful.
Je suis devenu misérable, entièrement courbé; j'ai marché tout le jour, plein de tristesse.
7 For my leendis ben fillid with scornyngis; and helthe is not in my fleisch.
Mes flancs ont été remplis de moqueries, et il n'est rien de sain dans ma chair.
8 I am turmentid, and maad low ful greetli; Y roride for the weilyng of myn herte.
J'ai été affligé et j'ai été humilié à l'excès; je rugissais à cause des gémissements de mon cœur.
9 Lord, al my desire is bifor thee; and my weilyng is not hid fro thee.
Tout mon désir est devant toi; mon gémissement ne t'est point caché.
10 Myn herte is disturblid in me, my vertu forsook me; and the liyt of myn iyen `forsook me, and it is not with me.
Mon cœur est troublé, ma force a défailli, et la lumière de mes yeux n'est point avec moi.
11 My frendis and my neiyboris neiyiden; and stoden ayens me. And thei that weren bisidis me stoden afer;
Mes amis et mes proches se sont avancés et arrêtés contre moi, et ceux qui m'approchaient de plus près se sont tenus au loin;
12 and thei diden violence, that souyten my lijf. And thei that souyten yuels to me, spaken vanytees; and thouyten gilis al dai.
Tandis que j'étais pressé avec violence par ceux qui cherchaient à m'ôter la vie, et que ceux qui pensaient à mal contre moi disaient des paroles menteuses, et tout le long du jour inventaient des tromperies.
13 But Y as a deef man herde not; and as a doumb man not openynge his mouth.
Mais moi je ne les entendais non plus qu'un sourd, et comme un muet je n'ouvrais pas la bouche.
14 And Y am maad as a man not herynge; and not hauynge repreuyngis in his mouth.
J'étais devenu semblable à un homme qui n'entend rien, et n'a rien à répliquer en sa bouche.
15 For, Lord, Y hopide in thee; my Lord God, thou schalt here me.
Car, ô Seigneur, j'espérais en toi, et tu m'exauceras, Seigneur mon Dieu!
16 For Y seide, Lest ony tyme myn enemyes haue ioye on me; and the while my feet ben mouyd, thei spaken grete thingis on me.
Et j'ai dit: Que je ne sois point pour mes ennemis un sujet de joie, ceux qui parlaient orgueilleusement contre moi quand mes pieds étaient chancelants.
17 For Y am redi to betyngis; and my sorewe is euere in my siyt.
Car je suis prêt à être flagellé, et ma douleur m'est toujours présente.
18 For Y schal telle my wickidnesse; and Y schal thenke for my synne.
Et je déclarerai mon iniquité; et je serai dans la douleur au sujet de mon péché.
19 But myn enemyes lyuen, and ben confermed on me; and thei ben multiplyed, that haten me wickidli.
Cependant mes ennemis sont vivants, et ils se sont fortifiés contre moi, et le nombre de ceux qui me haïssent injustement s'est multiplié.
20 Thei that yelden yuels for goodis, backbitiden me; for Y suede goodnesse.
Ceux qui rendent le mal pour le bien m'ont calomnié, parce que je recherchais la justice.
21 My Lord God, forsake thou not me; go thou not awei fro me.
Ne m'abandonne pas, Seigneur mon Dieu, ne te détourne point de moi.
22 Lord God of myn helthe; biholde thou in to myn help.
Approche-toi pour me secourir, ô Dieu de mon salut!
