Psalms 24

1 The song of Dauid. The erthe and the fulnesse therof is `the Lordis; the world, and alle that dwellen therynne `is the Lordis.

Ein Psalm Davids. / (Der Festchor, während er mit der Bundeslade den Berg Zion hinaufsteigt: ) / Jahwe ist die Erde und was sie erfüllt, / Der Erdkreis mit seinen Bewohnern.

2 For he foundide it on the sees; and made it redi on floodis.

Denn er hat sie auf Meere gegründet / Und über Ströme sie aufgerichtet.

3 Who schal stie in to the hil of the Lord; ethir who schal stonde in the hooli place of hym?

(Eine Einzelstimme: ) / Wer darf Jahwes Berg besteigen, / Wer darf treten an seine heilige Stätte?

4 The innocent in hondis, and in cleene herte; whiche took not his soule in veyn, nether swoor in gile to his neiybore.

(Der Festchor: ) / Wer schuldlose Hände hat und reines Herzens ist, / Wer nicht auf Lüge sinnt / Und nicht betrügerisch schwört —

5 `This man schal take blessyng of the Lord; and mercy of God his helthe.

Der wird Segen empfangen von Jahwe / Und Hilfe vom Gott seines Heils.

6 This is the generacioun of men sekynge hym; of men sekynge the face of God of Jacob.

So sind, die nach ihm fragen: / Die dein Antlitz suchen, sind Jakob. (Sela)

7 Ye princes, take vp youre yatis, and ye euerelastynge yatis, be reisid; and the kyng of glorie schal entre.

(Der Festchor oben vor den Toren der Zionsburg: ) / Erhebt, ihr Tore, eure Häupter, / Ja, reckt euch empor, uralte Pforten, / Damit der König der Ehren einziehe!

8 Who is this kyng of glorie? the Lord strong and myyti, the Lord myyti in batel.

(Eine Einzelstimme drinnen, die gleichsam eine Antwort der Tore ist: ) / Wer ist denn der König der Ehren? / (Der Festchor: ) / Jahwe ist's, ein Starker, ein Held, / Jahwe, ein Held im Streit!

9 Ye princes, take vp youre yatis, and ye euerlastynge yatis, be reisid; and the kyng of glorie schal entre.

Erhebt, ihr Tore, eure Häupter, / Ja reckt euch empor, uralte Pforten, / Damit der König der Ehren einziehe!

10 Who is this kyng of glorie? the Lord of vertues, he is the kyng of glorie.

(Wieder die Einzelstimme drinnen: ) / Wer ist denn der König der Ehren? / (Der Festchor draußen: ) / Jahwe (der Herr) der Heerscharen, er ist der König der Ehren. (Sela)
