Psalms 137

1 On the floodis of Babiloyne there we saten, and wepten; while we bithouyten on Syon.

De David. Sur les fleuves de Babylone nous nous sommes assis, et nous avons pleuré, en nous souvenant de Sion.

2 In salewis in the myddil therof; we hangiden vp oure orguns.

Nous avons suspendu nos harpes aux saules, qui sont au milieu de la contrée.

3 For thei that ledden vs prisoners; axiden vs there the wordis of songis. And thei that ledden awei vs seiden; Synge ye to vs an ympne of the songis of Syon.

Car ceux qui nous avaient faits captifs nous demandaient les paroles de nos cantiques; et ceux qui nous avaient emmenés nous disaient: Chantez-nous un hymne des cantiques de Sion!

4 Hou schulen we singe a songe of the Lord; in an alien lond?

Comment chanterons-nous un cantique du Seigneur sur une terre étrangère?

5 If Y foryete thee, Jerusalem; my riyt hond be youun to foryeting.

Si je t'oublie, Jérusalem, que ma main droite s'oublie elle-même!

6 Mi tunge cleue to my chekis; if Y bithenke not on thee. If Y purposide not of thee, Jerusalem; in the bigynnyng of my gladnesse.

Si je ne me propose Jérusalem comme le principe de mes joies; si je ne me souviens point de toi, que ma langue s'attache à mon gosier.

7 Lord, haue thou mynde on the sones of Edom; for the dai of Jerusalem. Whiche seien, Anyntische ye, anyntische ye; `til to the foundement ther ynne.

Souviens-toi, Seigneur, des fils d'Édom, qui, au dernier jour de Jérusalem, disaient; Détruisez-la, détruisez-la jusqu'en ses fondements!

8 Thou wretchid douyter of Babiloyne; he is blessid, that `schal yelde to thee thi yelding, which thou yeldidist to vs.

Fille de Babylone, infortunée! heureux celui qui te rendra le mal en retour du mal que tu as fait!

9 He is blessid, that schal holde; and hurtle doun hise litle children at a stoon.

Heureux celui qui saisira tes petits enfants et les écrasera contre la pierre!
