Psalms 127

1 The song of greces of Salomon. `No but the Lord bilde the hous; thei that bilden it han trauelid in veyn. No but the Lord kepith the citee; he wakith in veyn that kepith it.

आराधना के लिए यात्रियों का गीत. शलोमोन की रचना. यदि गृह-निर्माण याहवेह द्वारा न किया गया हो तो, श्रमिकों का परिश्रम निरर्थक होता है. यदि नगर की सुरक्षा याहवेह न करें, तो रखवाले द्वारा की गई चौकसी व्यर्थ होती है.

2 It is veyn to you to rise bifore the liyt; rise ye after that ye han sete, that eten the breed of sorewe. Whanne he schal yyue sleep to his loued; lo!

तुम्हारा सुबह जाग उठना देर तक जागे रहना, संकटपूर्ण श्रम का भोजन करना व्यर्थ है; क्योंकि याहवेह द्वारा नींद का अनुदान उनके लिए है, जिनसे वह प्रेम करते हैं.

3 the eritage of the Lord `is sones, the mede is the fruyt of wombe.

संतान याहवेह के दिए हुए निज भाग होते हैं, तथा बालक उनका दिया हुआ उपहार.

4 As arowis ben in the hond of the miyti; so the sones of hem that ben schakun out.

युवावस्था में उत्पन्‍न हुई संतान वैसी ही होती है, जैसे योद्धा के हाथों में बाण.

5 Blessid is the man, that hath fillid his desier of tho; he schal not be schent, whanne he schal speke to hise enemyes in the yate.

कैसा धन्य होता है वह पुरुष, जिसका तरकश इन बाणों से भरा हुआ है! नगर द्वार पर शत्रुओं का प्रतिकार करते हुए उन्हें लज्जित नहीं होना पड़ेगा.
