< Psalms 114 >
1 Alleluya. In the goyng out of Israel fro Egipt; of the hous of Jacob fro the hethene puple.
When Israel went out of Egypt, Jacob’s house from a barbarous people,
2 Judee was maad the halewyng of hym; Israel the power of hym.
God chose Judah for himself, Israel became his kingdom.
3 The see siy, and fledde; Jordan was turned abac.
The sea saw it, and fled, Jordan river ran backwards.
4 Munteyns ful out ioyeden as rammes; and litle hillis as the lambren of scheep.
Mountains skipped like rams, hills like the young of the flock.
5 Thou see, what was to thee, for thou fleddist; and thou, Jordan, for thou were turned abak?
Why, sea, do you flee? Jordan, why run backwards?
6 Munteyns, ye maden ful out ioye as rammes; and litle hillis, as the lambren of scheep.
Mountains, why skip ram-like? Why, hills, like the young of the flock?
7 The erthe was moued fro the face of `the Lord; fro the face of God of Jacob.
Earth, tremble before the Lord, at the presence of Jacob’s God,
8 Which turnede a stoon in to pondis of watris; and an hard rooch in to wellis of watris.
who turns rocks into pools of water, and flint into fountains of water.
