Proverbs 30
1 The wordis of hym that gaderith, of the sone spuynge. The prophesie which a man spak, with whom God was, and which man was coumfortid bi God dwellyng with hym,
૧યાકેના દીકરા આગૂરનાં વચનો છે, જે ઈશ્વરવાણી છે: કોઈ માણસ ઇથિયેલને, ઇથિયેલ તથા ઉક્કાલને આ પ્રમાણે કહે છે:
2 and seide, Y am the moost fool of men; and the wisdom of men is not with me.
૨નિશ્ચે હું કોઈ પણ માણસ કરતાં અધિક પશુવત છું અને મારામાં માણસ જેવી બુદ્ધિ નથી.
3 Y lernede not wisdom; and Y knew not the kunnyng of hooli men.
૩હું ડહાપણ શીખ્યો નથી કે નથી મારામાં પવિત્ર ઈશ્વરનું ડહાપણ.
4 Who stiede in to heuene, and cam doun? Who helde togidere the spirit in hise hondis? who bonde togidere watris as in a cloth? Who reiside alle the endis of erthe? What is name of hym? and what is the name of his sone, if thou knowist?
૪આકાશમાં કોણ ચઢ્યો છે અને પાછો નીચે ઊતર્યો છે? કોણે હવાને પોતાની મુઠ્ઠીમાં બાંધી રાખી છે? કોણે પોતાનાં વસ્ત્રમાં પાણી બાંધી લીધાં છે? પૃથ્વીની સર્વ સીમાઓ કોણે સ્થાપી છે? જો તું ખરેખર જાણતો હોય, તો કહે તેનું નામ શું છે? અને તેના દીકરાનું નામ શું છે?
5 Ech word of God is a scheld set a fiere, to alle that hopen in hym.
૫ઈશ્વરનું દરેક વચન પરખેલું છે, જેઓ ઈશ્વર પર ભરોસો રાખે છે તેઓના માટે તે ઢાલ છે.
6 Adde thou not ony thing to the wordis of hym, and thou be repreued, and be foundun a liere.
૬તેમનાં વચનોમાં તું કશો ઉમેરો કરીશ નહિ, નહિ તો તે તને ઠપકો આપશે અને તું જૂઠો પુરવાર થઈશ.
7 I preiede thee twei thingis; denye not thou to me, bifor that Y die.
૭હું તમારી પાસે બે વરદાન માગું છું, મારા મૃત્યુ અગાઉ મને તેની ના પાડશો નહિ.
8 Make thou fer fro me vanyte and wordis of leesyng; yyue thou not to me beggery and richessis; yyue thou oneli necessaries to my lijflode;
૮અસત્ય અને વ્યર્થતાને મારાથી દૂર રાખજો, મને દરિદ્રતા કે દ્રવ્ય પણ ન આપશો; મને જરૂર જેટલી રોટલી આપજો.
9 lest perauenture Y be fillid, and be drawun to denye, and seie, Who is the Lord? and lest Y compellid bi nedynesse, stele, and forswere the name of my God.
૯નહિ તો કદાચ હું વધારે છલકાઈ જાઉં અને તમારો નકાર કરીને કહું કે, “ઈશ્વર તે વળી કોણ છે?” અથવા હું કદાચ ગરીબ થઈને ચોરી કરું અને મારા ઈશ્વરના નામની નિંદા કરું.
10 Accuse thou not a seruaunt to his lord, lest perauenture he curse thee, and thou falle doun.
૧૦નોકરની ખરાબ વાતો જે ખોટી છે તે તેના માલિક આગળ ન કર રખેને તે તને શાપ આપે અને તેણે જે કર્યું હતું તેને માટે તું દોષપાત્ર ઠરે.
11 A generacioun that cursith his fadir, and that blessith not his modir.
૧૧એવી પણ એક પેઢી છે કે જે પોતાનાં પિતાને શાપ આપે છે અને પોતાની માતાને આશીર્વાદ આપતી નથી.
12 A generacioun that semeth cleene to it silf, and netheles is not waischun fro hise filthis.
૧૨એવી પણ એક પેઢી છે જે પોતાને પવિત્ર માને છે, પણ તે પોતાની મલિનતામાંથી સ્વચ્છ થતી નથી.
13 A generacioun whose iyen ben hiy, and the iye liddis therof ben reisid in to hiy thingis.
૧૩એવી પણ એક પેઢી છે કે જેના ઘમંડનો પાર નથી અને તેનાં પોપચાં ઊંચા કરેલાં છે.
14 A generacioun that hath swerdis for teeth, and etith with hise wank teeth; that it ete nedi men of erthe, and the porails of men.
૧૪એવી પણ એક પેઢી છે કે જેના દાંત તલવાર જેવા અને તેની દાઢો ચપ્પુ જેવી છે; એ પેઢીના લોકો પૃથ્વી પરથી કંગાલોને અને માનવજાતમાંથી જરૂરિયાતમંદોને ખાઈ જાય છે.
15 The watir leche hath twei douytris, seiynge, Brynge, bringe. Thre thingis ben vnable to be fillid, and the fourthe, that seith neuere, It suffisith;
૧૫જળોને બે દીકરીઓ છે, તેઓ પોકારીને કહે છે, “આપો અને આપો.” કદી તૃપ્ત થતાં નથી એવી ત્રણ બાબતો છે, “બસ,” એમ ન કહેનાર એવી ચાર બાબતો છે.
16 helle, and the mouth of the wombe, and the erthe which is neuere fillid with water; but fier seith neuere, It suffisith. (Sheol h7585)
૧૬એટલે શેઓલ; નિઃસંતાન મહિલાનું ગર્ભસ્થાન; પાણીથી તૃપ્ત નહિ થતી જમીન; અને કદી “બસ” ના કહેનાર અગ્નિ. (Sheol h7585)
17 Crowis of the stronde picke out thilke iye, that scorneth the fadir, and that dispisith the child beryng of his modir; and the briddis of an egle ete that iye.
૧૭જે આંખ તેના પિતાની મશ્કરી કરે છે અને તેની માતાની આજ્ઞા માનવાની ના પાડે છે, તેને ખીણના કાગડા કોચી કાઢશે અને ગીઘનાં બચ્ચાં તેને ખાઈ જશે.
18 Thre thingis ben hard to me, and outirli Y knowe not the fourthe thing;
૧૮ત્રણ બાબતો મને એવી આશ્ચર્યજનક લાગે છે કે તેઓ મારી સમજમાં આવતી નથી, અરે, ચાર બાબતો હું જાણતો નથી.
19 the weye of an egle in heuene, the weie of a serpent on a stoon, the weie of a schip in the myddil of the see, and the weie of a man in yong wexynge age.
૧૯આકાશમાં ઊડતા ગરુડનું ઉડ્ડયન; ખડક ઉપર સરકતા સાપની ચાલ; ભરસમુદ્રમાં વહાણનો માર્ગ; અને કુમારી તથા યુવાન વચ્ચે ઉદ્દભવતો પ્રેમ.
20 Siche is the weie of a womman auowtresse, which etith, and wipith hir mouth, and seith, Y wrouyte not yuel.
૨૦વ્યભિચારી સ્ત્રીની રીત આવી હોય છે - તે ખાય છે અને પોતાનું મુખ લૂછી નાખે છે અને કહે છે કે, “મેં કશું ખોટું કર્યું નથી.”
21 The erthe is moued bi thre thingis, and the fourthe thing, which it may not susteyne;
૨૧ત્રણ વસ્તુઓથી પૃથ્વી કાંપે છે, અરે, ચાર બાબતોને તે સહન કરી શકતી નથી.
22 bi a seruaunt, whanne he regneth; bi a fool, whanne he is fillid with mete;
૨૨રાજગાદીએ બેઠેલો ગુલામ; અન્નથી તૃપ્ત થયેલો મૂર્ખ;
23 bi an hateful womman, whanne sche is takun in matrymonye; and bi an handmaide, whanne sche is eir of hir ladi.
૨૩લગ્ન કરેલી દાસી; અને પોતાની શેઠાણીની જગ્યાએ આવેલી દાસી.
24 Foure ben the leeste thingis of erthe, and tho ben wisere than wise men;
૨૪પૃથ્વી પર ચાર વસ્તુ નાની છે, પણ તે અત્યંત શાણી છે:
25 amtis, a feble puple, that maken redi mete in heruest to hem silf;
૨૫કીડી કંઈ બળવાન પ્રજા નથી, પણ તેઓ ઉનાળાંમાં પોતાનો ખોરાક ભેગો કરે છે;
26 a hare, a puple vnmyyti, that settith his bed in a stoon;
૨૬ખડકમાં રહેતાં સસલાં નિર્બળ પ્રજા છે, તો પણ તેઓ સર્વ પોતાનાં રહેઠાણ ખડકોમાં બનાવે છે.
27 a locust hath no kyng, and al goith out bi cumpanyes; an euete enforsith with hondis,
૨૭તીડોનો કોઈ રાજા હોતો નથી, પણ તેઓ બધાં ટોળાબંધ નીકળે છે;
28 and dwellith in the housis of kingis.
૨૮ગરોળીને તમે તમારાં હાથમાં પકડી શકો છે, છતાં તે રાજાઓના મહેલમાં પણ હરેફરે છે.
29 Thre thingis ben, that goon wel, and the fourthe thing, that goith richeli.
૨૯ત્રણ પ્રાણીઓનાં પગલાં રુઆબદાર હોય છે, અરે, ચારની ચાલ દમામદાર હોય છે:
30 A lioun, strongeste of beestis, schal not drede at the meetyng of ony man;
૩૦એટલે સિંહ, જે પશુઓમાં સૌથી બળવાન છે અને કોઈને લીધે પોતાનો માર્ગ બદલતો નથી;
31 a cok gird the leendis, and a ram, and noon is that schal ayenstonde him.
૩૧વળી શિકારી કૂકડો; તથા બકરો; તેમ જ પોતાની પ્રજાને દોરતો રાજા કે જેની સામે થઈ શકાય નહિ.
32 He that apperith a fool, aftir that he is reisid an hiy; for if he hadde vndurstonde, he hadde sett hond on his mouth.
૩૨જો તેં ગર્વ કરવાની બેવકૂફી કરી હોય અથવા કોઈ ખોટો વિચાર તેં કર્યો હોય, તો તારો હાથ તારા મુખ પર મૂક.
33 Forsothe he that thristith strongli teetis, to drawe out mylk, thristith out botere; and he that smytith greetli, drawith out blood; and he that stirith iris, bringith forth discordis.
૩૩કારણ કે દૂધ વલોવ્યાથી માખણ નીપજે છે અને નાક મચડ્યાથી લોહી નીકળે છે, તેમ જ ક્રોધને છંછેડવાથી ઝઘડો ઊભો થાય છે.
