Proverbs 3
1 Mi sone, foryete thou not my lawe; and thyn herte kepe my comaundementis.
Mon fils, ne mets point en oubli mon enseignement, et que ton cœur garde mes commandements.
2 For tho schulen sette to thee the lengthe of daies, and the yeeris of lijf, and pees.
Car ils t'apporteront de longs jours, et des années de vie, et de prospérité.
3 Merci and treuthe forsake thee not; bynde thou tho to thi throte, and write in the tablis of thin herte.
Que la gratuité et la vérité ne t'abandonnent point: lie-les à ton cou, et écris-les sur la table de ton cœur;
4 And thou schalt fynde grace, and good teching bifore God and men.
Et tu trouveras la grâce et le bon sens aux yeux de Dieu et des hommes.
5 Haue thou trist in the Lord, of al thin herte; and triste thou not to thi prudence.
Confie-toi de tout ton cœur en l'Eternel, et ne t'appuie point sur ta prudence.
6 In alle thi weies thenke thou on hym, and he schal dresse thi goyngis.
Considère-le en toutes tes voies, et il dirigera tes sentiers.
7 Be thou not wijs anentis thi silf; drede thou God, and go awei fro yuel.
Ne sois point sage à tes yeux; crains l'Eternel, et détourne-toi du mal.
8 For whi helthe schal be in thi nawle, and moisting of thi boonys.
Ce sera une médecine à ton nombril, et une humectation à tes os.
9 Onoure thou the Lord of thi catel, and of the beste of alle thi fruytis yyue thou to pore men;
Honore l'Eternel de ton bien, et des prémices de tout ton revenu.
10 and thi bernes schulen be fillid with abundaunce, and pressours schulen flowe with wiyn.
Et tes greniers seront remplis d'abondance, et tes cuves rompront de moût.
11 My sone, caste thou not awei the teching of the Lord; and faile thou not, whanne thou art chastisid of him.
Mon fils, ne rebute point l'instruction de l'Eternel, et ne te fâche point de ce qu'il te reprend.
12 For the Lord chastisith hym, whom he loueth; and as a fadir in the sone he plesith hym.
Car l'Eternel reprend celui qu'il aime, même comme un père l'enfant auquel il prend plaisir.
13 Blessid is the man that fyndith wisdom, and which flowith with prudence.
Ô! que bienheureux est l'homme [qui] trouve la sagesse, et l'homme qui met en avant l'intelligence!
14 The geting therof is betere than the marchaundie of gold and of siluer; the fruytis therof ben the firste and clenneste.
Car le trafic qu'on peut faire d'elle, est meilleur que le trafic de l'argent; et le revenu qu'on en peut avoir, est meilleur que le fin or.
15 It is preciousere than alle richessis; and alle thingis that ben desirid, moun not be comparisound to this.
Elle est plus précieuse que les perles, et toutes tes choses désirables ne la valent point.
16 Lengthe of daies is in the riythalf therof, and richessis and glorie ben in the lifthalf therof.
Il y a de longs jours en sa main droite, des richesses et de la gloire en sa gauche.
17 The weies therof ben feire weies, and alle the pathis therof ben pesible.
Ses voies sont des voies agréables, et tous ses sentiers ne sont que prospérité.
18 It is a tre of lijf to hem that taken it; and he that holdith it, is blessid.
Elle est l'arbre de vie à ceux qui l'embrassent; et tous ceux qui la tiennent sont rendus bienheureux.
19 The Lord foundide the erthe bi wisdom; he stablischide heuenes bi prudence.
L'Eternel a fondé la terre par la sapience, et il a disposé les cieux par l'intelligence.
20 The depthis of watris braken out bi his wisdom; and cloudis wexen togidere bi dewe.
Les abîmes se débordent par sa science, et les nuées distillent la rosée.
21 My sone, these thingis flete not awey fro thin iyen; kepe thou my lawe, and my counsel;
Mon fils, qu'elles ne s'écartent point de devant tes yeux; garde la droite connaissance et la prudence.
22 and lijf schal be to thi soule, and grace `schal be to thi chekis.
Et elles seront la vie de ton âme, et l'ornement de ton cou.
23 Thanne thou schalt go tristili in thi weie; and thi foot schal not snapere.
Alors tu marcheras en assurance par ta voie, et ton pied ne bronchera point.
24 If thou schalt slepe, thou schalt not drede; thou schalt reste, and thi sleep schal be soft.
Si tu te couches, tu n'auras point de frayeur, et quand tu te seras couché ton sommeil sera doux.
25 Drede thou not bi sudeyne feer, and the powers of wickid men fallynge in on thee.
Ne crains point la frayeur subite, ni la ruine des méchants, quand elle arrivera.
26 For the Lord schal be at thi side; and he schal kepe thi foot, that thou be not takun.
Car l'Eternel sera ton espérance, et il gardera ton pied d'être pris.
27 Nil thou forbede to do wel him that mai; if thou maist, and do thou wel.
Ne retiens pas le bien de ceux à qui il appartient, encore qu'il fût en ta puissance de le faire.
28 Seie thou not to thi frend, Go, and turne thou ayen, and to morewe Y schal yyue to thee; whanne thou maist yyue anoon.
Ne dis point à ton prochain: Va, et retourne, et je te le donnerai demain, quand tu l'as par-devers toi.
29 Ymagyne thou not yuel to thi freend, whanne he hath trist in thee.
Ne machine point de mal contre ton prochain; vu qu'il habite en assurance avec toi.
30 Stryue thou not ayens a man with out cause, whanne he doith noon yuel to thee.
N'aie point de procès sans sujet avec aucun, à moins qu'il ne t'ait fait quelque tort.
31 Sue thou not an vniust man, sue thou not hise weies.
Ne porte point d'envie à l'homme violent, et ne choisis aucune de ses voies.
32 For ech disseyuer is abhomynacioun of the Lord; and his speking is with simple men.
Car celui qui va de travers est en abomination à l'Eternel; mais son secret est avec ceux qui sont justes.
33 Nedinesse is sent of the Lord in the hous of a wickid man; but the dwelling places of iust men schulen be blessid.
La malédiction de l'Eternel est dans la maison du méchant; mais il bénit la demeure des justes.
34 He schal scorne scorneris; and he schal yyue grace to mylde men.
Certes il se moque des moqueurs, mais il fait grâce aux débonnaires.
35 Wise men schulen haue glorie; enhaunsing of foolis is schenschipe.
Les sages hériteront la gloire; mais l'ignominie élève les fous.
