Proverbs 23
1 Whanne thou sittist, to ete with the prince, perseyue thou diligentli what thingis ben set bifore thi face,
ஒரு ஆளுநருடன் உணவு சாப்பிட உட்காரும்போது, உனக்குமுன் இருப்பவற்றை நன்றாகக் கவனித்துப்பார்.
2 and sette thou a withholding in thi throte. If netheles thou hast power on thi soule,
நீ உணவுப் பிரியனாயிருந்தால், உன் தொண்டையில் கத்தி இருப்பதாக நினைத்துக்கொள்.
3 desire thou not of his metis, in whom is the breed of `a leesing.
அவனுடைய சுவைமிக்க உணவுகளில் ஆசைப்படாதே; அது உன்னை ஏமாற்றக்கூடும்.
4 Nyle thou trauele to be maad riche, but sette thou mesure to thi prudence.
நீ செல்வந்தனாகும்படி உன்னை வருத்தாதே; உன் புத்திசாலித்தனத்தை நம்பாதே.
5 Reise not thin iyen to richessis, whiche thou maist not haue; for tho schulen make to hem silf pennes, as of an egle, and tho schulen flee in to heuene.
கண் இமைக்கும் நேரத்தில் செல்வம் மறைந்துவிடும், அவை இறக்கைகள் முளைத்து, கழுகுபோல் ஆகாயத்தில் பறந்துவிடும்.
6 Ete thou not with an enuyouse man, and desire thou not hise metis;
கஞ்சத்தனமுள்ளவர்களுடைய உணவைச் சாப்பிடாதே, அவர்களுடைய சுவைமிக்க உணவுகளில் ஆசைப்படாதே;
7 for at the licnesse of a fals dyuynour and of a coniectere, he gessith that, that he knowith not. He schal seie to thee, Ete thou and drinke; and his soule is not with thee.
ஏனெனில் அவர்கள் எப்பொழுதும் எவ்வளவு செலவு செய்கிறார்களென்று சிந்திக்கிறார்கள். “சாப்பிடுங்கள், குடியுங்கள்” என்று அவர்கள் உனக்குச் சொல்வார்கள்; ஆனால் அவர்கள் அதை மனதாரச் சொல்லவில்லை.
8 Thou schalt brake out the metis, whiche thou hast ete; and thou schalt leese thi faire wordis.
நீ சாப்பிட்ட கொஞ்சத்தையும் வாந்தியெடுக்க நேரிடும், நீ அவர்களைப் பாராட்டிய வார்த்தைகளும் வீணாய்ப் போகும்.
9 Speke thou not in the eeris of vnwise men; for thei schulen dispise the teching of thi speche.
நீ மூடர்களுடன் பேசாதே, ஏனெனில் அவர்கள் உன் ஞானமான வார்த்தைகளை ஏளனம் செய்வார்கள்.
10 Touche thou not the termes of litle children; and entre thou not in to the feeld of fadirles and modirles children.
பூர்வகால எல்லைக் கல்லை நகர்த்தாதே; தந்தையற்றவர்களின் நிலங்களை கொஞ்சம் கொஞ்சமாக அபகரித்துக்கொள்ளாதே.
11 For the neiybore of hem is strong, and he schal deme her cause ayens thee.
ஏனெனில் அவர்களை பாதுகாக்கிறவர் வல்லவர்; அவர் உனக்கெதிராக அவர்கள் சார்பாக வழக்காடுவார்.
12 Thin herte entre to techyng, and thin eeris `be redi to the wordis of kunnyng.
நீ அறிவுறுத்தலுக்கு உன் இருதயத்தைச் சாய்; அறிவுள்ள வார்த்தைகளுக்கு செவிகொடு.
13 Nile thou withdrawe chastisyng fro a child; for thouy thou smyte hym with a yerde, he schal not die.
பிள்ளையைத் தண்டித்துத் திருத்தாமல் விடாதே; அவர்களைப் பிரம்பினால் தண்டித்தால், அவர்கள் சாகமாட்டார்கள்.
நீ அவர்களைப் பிரம்பினால் தண்டித்து, அவர்களை மரணத்தினின்று காப்பாற்று. (Sheol h7585)
15 Mi sone, if thi soule is wijs, myn herte schal haue ioye with thee;
என் மகனே, உன் இருதயம் ஞானமுள்ளதாயிருந்தால், உண்மையில் என் இருதயம் மகிழ்ச்சியடையும்;
16 and my reynes schulen make ful out ioye, whanne thi lippis speken riytful thing.
உனது உதடுகள் நீதியானவற்றைப் பேசும்போது, என் உள்ளம் மகிழும்.
17 Thin herte sue not synneris; but be thou in the drede of the Lord al dai.
நீ உன் இருதயத்தைப் பாவிகள்மேல் பொறாமைகொள்ள விடாதே, எப்பொழுதும் யெகோவாவுக்குப் பயந்து நடக்க வைராக்கியமாயிரு.
18 For thou schalt haue hope at the laste, and thin abidyng schal not be don awei.
அப்பொழுது உனக்கு எதிர்கால நம்பிக்கை நிச்சயமாகவே உண்டு, உனது எதிர்பார்ப்பும் வீண்போகாது.
19 Mi sone, here thou, and be thou wijs, and dresse thi soule in the weie.
என் மகனே, சொல்வதைக் கவனமாய்க் கேட்டு ஞானமுள்ளவனாயிரு, உன் இருதயத்தைச் சரியான பாதையில் பதித்துக்கொள்:
20 Nyle thou be in the feestis of drinkeris, nether in the ofte etyngis of hem, that bryngen togidere fleischis to ete.
திராட்சை மதுவைக் குடிப்பவர்களோடும், மாம்சப் பெருந்தீனிக்காரரோடும் நீ சேராதே.
21 For men yyuynge tent to drinkis, and yyuyng mussels togidere, schulen be waastid, and napping schal be clothid with clothis.
ஏனெனில் குடிகாரர்களும், உணவுப்பிரியர்களும் ஏழைகள் ஆவார்கள்; போதை மயக்கம் அவர்களுக்குக் கந்தைத் துணிகளையே உடுத்துவிக்கும்.
22 Here thi fadir, that gendride thee; and dispise not thi modir, whanne sche is eld.
உனக்கு வாழ்வு கொடுத்த உன் தந்தைக்குச் செவிகொடு; உன் தாய் வயது சென்றவளாயிருக்கும்போது அவளை இழிவாகக் கருதாதே.
23 Bie thou treuthe, and nyle thou sille wisdom, and doctryn, and vndurstonding.
சத்தியத்தை வாங்கு, அதை விற்காதே; ஞானத்தையும், அறிவுரையையும், மெய்யறிவையும் பெற்றுக்கொள்.
24 The fadir of a iust man ioieth ful out with ioie; he that gendride a wijs man, schal be glad in hym.
நீதிமானாகிய பிள்ளையின் தந்தை பெருமகிழ்ச்சியடைகிறான்; ஞானமுள்ள பிள்ளையை உடையவன் அதில் சந்தோஷப்படுகிறான்.
25 Thi fadir and thi modir haue ioye, and he that gendride thee, make ful out ioye.
உன் தந்தையும் தாயும் மகிழ்ந்திருப்பார்களாக; உன்னைப் பெற்றவள் பெருமகிழ்ச்சியடைவாளாக!
26 My sone, yyue thin herte to me, and thin iyen kepe my weyes.
என் மகனே, உன் இருதயத்தை எனக்குக் கொடு; உன் கண்கள் என் வழிகளைப் பின்பற்றுவதில் மகிழட்டும்.
27 For an hoore is a deep diche, and an alien womman is a streit pit.
ஏனெனில் விபசாரி ஒரு ஆழமான படுகுழி; ஒழுக்கங்கெட்ட மனைவி மிக ஒடுக்கமான கிணறு.
28 Sche settith aspie in the weie, as a theef; and sche schal sle hem, whiche sche schal se vnwar.
அவள் ஒரு கொள்ளைக்காரனைப்போல் பதுங்கிக் காத்திருக்கிறாள்; மனிதர்களுக்குள் உண்மையற்றவர்களைப் பெருகப்பண்ணுகிறாள்.
29 To whom is wo? to whos fadir is wo? to whom ben chidingis? to whom ben dichis? to whom ben woundis with out cause? to whom is puttyng out of iyen?
யாருக்கு வேதனை? யாருக்குத் துயரம்? யாருக்கு சண்டை? யாருக்கு பிதற்றுதல்? யாருக்குத் தேவையற்ற காயங்கள்? யாருக்கு இரத்தச் சிவப்பான கண்கள்?
30 Whether not to hem, that dwellen in wyn, and studien to drynke al of cuppis?
திராட்சைமது குடிப்பதிலேயே நேரத்தைக் கழிப்பவர்களுக்கும், எப்பொழுதும் கலப்பு மதுவைத் தேடித் திரிபவர்களுக்குமே.
31 Biholde thou not wyn, whanne it sparclith, whanne the colour therof schyneth in a ver.
மது சிவப்பாய் இருக்கும்போதும், கிண்ணத்தில் பளபளக்கும் போதும் அதைப் பார்த்து மகிழாதே; அது மிருதுவாய் இறங்கும்போதும் மகிழ்ச்சி கொள்ளாதே!
32 It entrith swetli, but at the laste it schal bite as an eddre doith, and as a cocatrice it schal schede abrood venyms.
முடிவில் அது பாம்பைப்போல் கடிக்கும்; விரியன் பாம்பைப்போல் நஞ்சைக் கக்கும்.
33 Thin iyen schulen se straunge wymmen, and thi herte schal speke weiwerd thingis.
அப்பொழுது உனது கண்கள் விசித்திரமான காட்சிகளைக் காணும், உனது மனம் குழப்பமானவற்றைக் கற்பனை செய்யும்.
34 And thou schalt be as a man slepinge in the myddis of the see, and as a gouernour aslepid, whanne the steere is lost.
நீ நடுக்கடலின்மேல் படுத்திருப்பவனைப் போலவும், கப்பலின் பாய்மரத்தில் படுத்து நித்திரை செய்பவனைப்போலவும் உணருவாய்.
35 And thou schalt seie, Thei beeten me, but Y hadde not sorewe; thei drowen me, and Y feelide not; whanne schal Y wake out, and Y schal fynde wynes eft?
“அவர்கள் என்னை அடித்தார்கள், எனக்கு நோகவில்லை! அவர்கள் என்னைத் தாக்கினார்கள், நான் அதை உணரவில்லை! இன்னும் ஒருமுறை குடிப்பதற்கு நான் எப்பொழுது எழும்புவேன்?” என்று நீ சொல்வாய்.
