Proverbs 2
1 Mi sone, if thou resseyuest my wordis, `and hidist myn heestis anentis thee;
Synu mój! jeźli przyjmiesz słowa moje, a przykazanie moje zachowasz u siebie;
2 that thin eere here wisdom, bowe thin herte to knowe prudence.
Nadstawiszli mądrości ucha twego, i nakłoniszli serca twego do roztropności;
3 For if thou inwardli clepist wisdom, and bowist thin herte to prudence;
Owszem, jeźli na rozum zawołasz, a roztropności wezwieszli głosem swoim;
4 if thou sekist it as money, and diggist it out as tresours;
Jeźli jej szukać będziesz jako srebra, a jako skarbów skrytych pilnie szukać będziesz:
5 thanne thou schalt vndirstonde the drede of the Lord, and schalt fynde the kunnyng of God.
Tedy zrozumiesz bojaźń Pańską, a znajomość Bożą znajdziesz.
6 For the Lord yyueth wisdom; and prudence and kunnyng is of his mouth.
Albowiem Pan daje mądrość, z ust jego pochodzi umiejętność i roztropność.
7 He schal kepe the heelthe of riytful men, and he schal defende hem that goen sympli.
On zachowuje uprzejmym prawdziwą mądrość; on jest tarczą chodzącym w szczerości,
8 And he schal kepe the pathis of riytfulnesse, and he schal kepe the weies of hooli men.
Aby strzegli ścieżek sądu; on drogi świętych swoich strzeże.
9 Thanne thou schalt vndirstonde riytfulnesse, and dom, and equytee, and ech good path.
Tedy wyrozumiesz sprawiedliwość, i sąd, i prawość, i wszelką ścieszkę dobrą.
10 If wysdom entrith in to thin herte, and kunnyng plesith thi soule,
Gdy wnijdzie mądrośu w serce twoje, a umiejętność duszy twojej wdzięczna będzie:
11 good councel schal kepe thee, and prudence schal kepe thee; that thou be delyuered fro an yuel weie,
Tedy cię ostrożność strzedz będzie, a opatrzność zachowa cię.
12 and fro a man that spekith weiward thingis.
Wyrywając cię od drogi złej, i od człowieka mówiącego przewrotności;
13 Whiche forsaken a riytful weie, and goen bi derk weies;
Od tych, którzy opuszczają ścieszki proste, udawając się drogami ciemnemi;
14 whiche ben glad, whanne thei han do yuel, and maken ful out ioye in worste thingis;
Którzy się radują, gdy czynią złe, a weselą się w złośliwych przewrotnościach;
15 whose weies ben weywerd, and her goyingis ben of yuel fame.
Których ścieszki są krzywe, a sami są przewrotnymi na drogach swoich;
16 That thou be delyuered fro an alien womman, and fro a straunge womman, that makith soft hir wordis;
Wyrywając cię od niewiasty postronnej i obcej, która pochlebia łagodnemi słowy;
17 and forsakith the duyk of hir tyme of mariage,
Która opuszcza wodza młodości swojej, a przymierza Boga swojego zapomina.
18 and hath foryete the couenaunt of hir God. For the hous of hir is bowid to deeth, and hir pathis to helle.
Bo się nachyla ku śmierci dom jej, a do umarłych ścieszki jej.
19 Alle that entren to hir, schulen not turne ayen, nether schulen catche the pathis of lijf.
Wszyscy, którzy do niej wchodzą, nie wracają się, ani trafiają na ścieszkę żywota.
20 That thou go in a good weie, and kepe the pathis of iust men.
A przetoż będziesz chodził drogą dobrych, a ścieżek sprawiedliwych będziesz przestrzegał.
21 Forsothe thei that ben riytful, schulen dwelle in the lond; and symple men schulen perfitli dwelle ther ynne.
Albowiem cnotliwi będą mieszkali na ziemi, a szczerzy trwać będą na niej;
22 But vnfeithful men schulen be lost fro the loond; and thei that doen wickidli, schulen be takun awey fro it.
Ale niepobożni z ziemi wykorzenieni będą, a przewrotni będą z niej wygładzeni.
