Numbers 3
1 These ben the generaciouns of Aaron and of Moises, in the dai in which the Lord spak to Moises, in the hil of Synay.
| ואלה תולדת אהרן ומשה ביום דבר יהוה את משה--בהר סיני |
2 And these ben the names of `the sones of Aaron; his first gendrid, Nadab; aftirward, Abyu, and Eleazar, and Ythamar; these ben the names of `Aarons sones,
| ואלה שמות בני אהרן הבכר נדב ואביהוא אלעזר ואיתמר |
3 preestis, that weren anoyntid, and whos hondis weren fillid and halewid, that thei schulden `be set in preesthod.
| אלה שמות בני אהרן הכהנים המשחים--אשר מלא ידם לכהן |
4 Nadab and Abyu, whanne thei offeriden alien fier in the `siyt of the Lord, in the deseert of Synay, weren deed without fre children; and Eleazar and Ythamar `weren set in preesthod bifor Aaron hir fadir.
| וימת נדב ואביהוא לפני יהוה בהקרבם אש זרה לפני יהוה במדבר סיני ובנים לא היו להם ויכהן אלעזר ואיתמר על פני אהרן אביהם |
5 And the Lord spak to Moises,
| וידבר יהוה אל משה לאמר |
6 `and seide, `Presente thou the lynage of Leuy, and make to stonde in the siyt of Aaron, preest, that thei mynystre to hym;
| הקרב את מטה לוי והעמדת אתו לפני אהרן הכהן ושרתו אתו |
7 and wake, and that thei kepe what euer thing perteyneth to the religioun of multitude, bifor the tabernacle of witnessyng;
| ושמרו את משמרתו ואת משמרת כל העדה לפני אהל מועד--לעבד את עבדת המשכן |
8 and that thei kepe the vessels of the tabernacle, and serue in the seruyce therof.
| ושמרו את כל כלי אהל מועד ואת משמרת בני ישראל--לעבד את עבדת המשכן |
9 And thou schalt yyue bi fre yifte the Leuytis to Aaron and hise sones, to whiche thei ben youun of the sones of Israel.
| ונתתה את הלוים לאהרן ולבניו נתונם נתונם המה לו מאת בני ישראל |
10 Sotheli thou schalt ordeyne Aaron and hise sones on the religioun of preesthod; a straungere, that neiyeth for to mynystre, and schal die.
| ואת אהרן ואת בניו תפקד ושמרו את כהנתם והזר הקרב יומת |
11 And the Lord spak to Moyses, `and seide,
| וידבר יהוה אל משה לאמר |
12 Y haue take the Leuytis of the sones of Israel for ech firste gendrid thing that openeth the womb in the sones of Israel; and the Leuytis schulen be myne,
| ואני הנה לקחתי את הלוים מתוך בני ישראל תחת כל בכור פטר רחם מבני ישראל והיו לי הלוים |
13 for ech firste gendrid thing is myn; sithen Y smoot the firste gendrid in the lond of Egipt, Y halewide to me what euer thing is borun first in Israel; fro man `til to beest thei ben myne; Y am the Lord.
| כי לי כל בכור--ביום הכתי כל בכור בארץ מצרים הקדשתי לי כל בכור בישראל מאדם עד בהמה לי יהיו אני יהוה |
14 And the Lord spak to Moises in the deseert
| וידבר יהוה אל משה במדבר סיני לאמר |
15 of Synay, and seide, Noumbre thou the sones of Leuy bi `the housis of her fadris, and bi meynees, ech male fro o monethe and aboue.
| פקד את בני לוי לבית אבתם למשפחתם כל זכר מבן חדש ומעלה תפקדם |
16 Moises noumbride, as the Lord comaundide.
| ויפקד אתם משה על פי יהוה כאשר צוה |
17 And the sones of Leuy weren foundun, bi her names, Gerson, and Caath, and Merary;
| ויהיו אלה בני לוי בשמתם--גרשון וקהת ומררי |
18 the sones of Gerson weren Lebny, and Semey;
| ואלה שמות בני גרשון למשפחתם--לבני ושמעי |
19 the sones of Caath weren Amram, and Jessaar, Hebron, and Oziel;
| ובני קהת למשפחתם--עמרם ויצהר חברון ועזיאל |
20 and the sones of Merari weren Mooly, and Musi.
| ובני מררי למשפחתם--מחלי ומושי אלה הם משפחת הלוי לבית אבתם |
21 Of Gerson weren twei meynees, of Lebny, and of Semei;
| לגרשון--משפחת הלבני ומשפחת השמעי אלה הם משפחת הגרשני |
22 of whiche the puple of male kynde was noumbrid, fro o monethe and aboue, seuene thousynde and fyue hundrid.
| פקדיהם במספר כל זכר מבן חדש ומעלה פקדיהם שבעת אלפים וחמש מאות |
23 These schulen sette tentis aftir the tabernacle at the west,
| משפחת הגרשני אחרי המשכן יחנו ימה |
24 vndur the prince Eliasaph, the sone of Jahel.
| ונשיא בית אב לגרשני אליסף בן לאל |
25 And thei schulen haue kepyngis in the tabernacle of boond of pees, the tabernacle it silf, and the hilyng therof, the tente which is drawun bifor the yatis of the hilyng of the witnessyng of boond of pees;
| ומשמרת בני גרשון באהל מועד המשכן והאהל מכסהו--ומסך פתח אהל מועד |
26 and the curteyns of the greet street, also the tente which is hangid in the entryng of the greet street of the tabernacle, and what euer thing perteyneth to the custom of the auter, the cordis of the tabernacle, and al the purtenaunce therof.
| וקלעי החצר ואת מסך פתח החצר אשר על המשכן ועל המזבח סביב ואת מיתריו לכל עבדתו |
27 The kynrede of Caath schal haue the puplis of Amram, and of Jessaar, and of Ebron, and of Oziel;
| ולקהת משפחת העמרמי ומשפחת היצהרי ומשפחת החברני ומשפחת העזיאלי אלה הם משפחת הקהתי |
28 these ben the meynees of Caathitis, noumbrid bi her names, alle of male kynde, fro o monethe and aboue, eiyte thousynde and sixe hundrid.
| במספר כל זכר מבן חדש ומעלה--שמנת אלפים ושש מאות שמרי משמרת הקדש |
29 Thei schulen haue kepyngis of the seyntuarie, and schulen sette tentis at the south coost;
| משפחת בני קהת יחנו על ירך המשכן תימנה |
30 and `the prince of hem schal be Elisaphan, the sone of Oziel.
| ונשיא בית אב למשפחת הקהתי אליצפן בן עזיאל |
31 And thei schulen kepe the arke, and the boord, and the candilstike, the auters, and vesselis of the seyntuarie in whiche it is mynystrid, and the veil, and al sich purtenaunce.
| ומשמרתם הארן והשלחן והמנרה והמזבחת וכלי הקדש אשר ישרתו בהם והמסך--וכל עבדתו |
32 Sotheli the prince of princis of Leuytis schal be Eleazar, the sone of Aaron, preest; and he schal be on the keperis of the kepyng of the seyntuarie.
| ונשיא נשיאי הלוי אלעזר בן אהרן הכהן פקדת שמרי משמרת הקדש |
33 And sotheli of Merary schulen be the puplis of Mooli, and of Musi,
| למררי--משפחת המחלי ומשפחת המושי אלה הם משפחת מררי |
34 noumbrid bi her names, alle of male kynde fro o monethe and aboue, sixe thousynde and two hundrid;
| ופקדיהם במספר כל זכר מבן חדש ומעלה--ששת אלפים ומאתים |
35 `the prince of hem schal be Suriel, the sone of Abiahiel; thei schulen sette tentis in the north coost.
| ונשיא בית אב למשפחת מררי צוריאל בן אביחיל על ירך המשכן יחנו צפנה |
36 And vndur `the kepyng of hem schulen be the tablis of the tabernacle, and the barris, and the pileris, and `the foundementis of tho, and alle thingis that perteynen to sich ournyng,
| ופקדת משמרת בני מררי--קרשי המשכן ובריחיו ועמדיו ואדניו וכל כליו--וכל עבדתו |
37 and the pileris of the greet street bi cumpas, with her foundementis, and the stakis with coordis.
| ועמדי החצר סביב ואדניהם ויתדתם ומיתריהם |
38 Forsothe Moises and Aaron with hise sones schulen sette tentis bifor the tabernacle of boond of pees, that is, at the eest coost, and schulen haue the keping of the seyntuarie, in the myddis of the sones of Israel; what euer alien neiyeth, he schal die.
| והחנים לפני המשכן קדמה לפני אהל מועד מזרחה משה ואהרן ובניו שמרים משמרת המקדש למשמרת בני ישראל והזר הקרב יומת |
39 Alle the Leuytis, whiche Moises and Aaron noumbriden, bi comaundement of the Lord, bi her meynees, in male kynde, fro o monethe and aboue, were two and twenti thousynd.
| כל פקודי הלוים אשר פקד משה ואהרן על פי יהוה--למשפחתם כל זכר מבן חדש ומעלה שנים ועשרים אלף |
40 And the Lord seide to Moises, Noumbre thou the firste gendrid children of male kynde of the sones of Israel, fro o monethe and aboue; and thou schalt haue the summe of hem; and
| ויאמר יהוה אל משה פקד כל בכר זכר לבני ישראל מבן חדש ומעלה ושא את מספר שמתם |
41 thou schalt take Leuytis to me for alle the firste gendrid of the sones of Israel; Y am the Lord; and thou schalt take `the beestis of hem for alle the firste gendrid of the sones of Israel.
| ולקחת את הלוים לי אני יהוה תחת כל בכר בבני ישראל ואת בהמת הלוים תחת כל בכור בבהמת בני ישראל |
42 And as the Lord comaundide, Moises noumbride the firste gendrid children of the sones of Israel; and the males weren bi her names,
| ויפקד משה כאשר צוה יהוה אתו את כל בכור בבני ישראל |
43 fro o monethe and aboue, two and twenti thousynde two hundrid and seuenti and thre.
| ויהי כל בכור זכר במספר שמת מבן חדש ומעלה--לפקדיהם שנים ועשרים אלף שלשה ושבעים ומאתים |
44 And the Lord spak to Moises, and seide,
| וידבר יהוה אל משה לאמר |
45 Take thou Leuytis for the firste gendrid children of the sones of Israel, and the beestis of Leuytis for the beestis of hem, and the Leuytis schulen be myne; Y am the Lord.
| קח את הלוים תחת כל בכור בבני ישראל ואת בהמת הלוים תחת בהמתם והיו לי הלוים אני יהוה |
46 Forsothe in the prijs of two hundrid seuenti and thre, that passen the noumbre of `Leuytis, of the firste gendrid children of the sones of Israel,
| ואת פדויי השלשה והשבעים והמאתים--העדפים על הלוים מבכור בני ישראל |
47 thou schalt take fyue ciclis bi ech heed, at the mesure of seyntuarie; a sicle hath xx. halpens;
| ולקחת חמשת חמשת שקלים--לגלגלת בשקל הקדש תקח עשרים גרה השקל |
48 and thou schalt yyue the money to Aaron and to hise sones, the prijs of hem that ben aboue.
| ונתתה הכסף לאהרן ולבניו--פדויי העדפים בהם |
49 Therfor Moises took the money of hem that weren aboue, and whiche thei hadden ayenbouyt of the Leuytis, for the firste gendrid of the sones of Israel,
| ויקח משה את כסף הפדיום--מאת העדפים על פדויי הלוים |
50 a thousand thre hundrid sixti and fyue of siclis, bi the weiyte of seyntuarie;
| מאת בכור בני ישראל--לקח את הכסף חמשה וששים ושלש מאות ואלף--בשקל הקדש |
51 and he yaf that money to Aaron and to hise sones, bi the word which the Lord comaundide to hym.
| ויתן משה את כסף הפדים לאהרן ולבניו--על פי יהוה כאשר צוה יהוה את משה |
