Numbers 3
1 These ben the generaciouns of Aaron and of Moises, in the dai in which the Lord spak to Moises, in the hil of Synay.
Suivent les générations d’Aaron et de Moïse, à l’époque où l’Éternel parlait à Moïse sur le mont Sinaï.
2 And these ben the names of `the sones of Aaron; his first gendrid, Nadab; aftirward, Abyu, and Eleazar, and Ythamar; these ben the names of `Aarons sones,
Voici les noms des fils d’Aaron: l’aîné, Nadab; puis Abihou, Eléazar et Ithamar.
3 preestis, that weren anoyntid, and whos hondis weren fillid and halewid, that thei schulden `be set in preesthod.
Ce sont là les noms des fils d’Aaron, oints en qualité de pontifes, auxquels on conféra le sacerdoce.
4 Nadab and Abyu, whanne thei offeriden alien fier in the `siyt of the Lord, in the deseert of Synay, weren deed without fre children; and Eleazar and Ythamar `weren set in preesthod bifor Aaron hir fadir.
Or, Nadab et Abihou moururent devant le Seigneur, pour avoir apporté devant lui un feu profane, dans le désert de Sinaï; ils n’avaient point eu d’enfants. Mais Eléazar et Ithamar fonctionnèrent sous les yeux d’Aaron, leur père.
5 And the Lord spak to Moises,
L’Éternel parla à Moïse en ces termes:
6 `and seide, `Presente thou the lynage of Leuy, and make to stonde in the siyt of Aaron, preest, that thei mynystre to hym;
"Fais approcher la tribu de Lévi et mets-la en présence d’Aaron le pontife, pour qu’ils l’assistent.
7 and wake, and that thei kepe what euer thing perteyneth to the religioun of multitude, bifor the tabernacle of witnessyng;
Ils rempliront sa tâche et celle de toute la communauté, devant la tente d’assignation, en faisant le service du tabernacle.
8 and that thei kepe the vessels of the tabernacle, and serue in the seruyce therof.
Ils auront la garde de tous les ustensiles de la tente d’assignation, et feront l’office des enfants d’Israël, en s’occupant du service du tabernacle.
9 And thou schalt yyue bi fre yifte the Leuytis to Aaron and hise sones, to whiche thei ben youun of the sones of Israel.
Tu adjoindras donc les Lévites à Aaron et à ses fils: ils lui seront donnés comme adjoints, entre les enfants d’Israël.
10 Sotheli thou schalt ordeyne Aaron and hise sones on the religioun of preesthod; a straungere, that neiyeth for to mynystre, and schal die.
Pour Aaron et ses fils, recommande-leur de veiller sur leur ministère; le profane qui y prendrait part serait frappé de mort."
11 And the Lord spak to Moyses, `and seide,
L’Éternel parla à Moïse en ces termes:
12 Y haue take the Leuytis of the sones of Israel for ech firste gendrid thing that openeth the womb in the sones of Israel; and the Leuytis schulen be myne,
"Moi-même, en effet, j’ai pris les Lévites entre les enfants d’Israël, en échange de tous les premiers-nés, prémices de la maternité, des enfants d’Israël; les Lévites sont donc à moi.
13 for ech firste gendrid thing is myn; sithen Y smoot the firste gendrid in the lond of Egipt, Y halewide to me what euer thing is borun first in Israel; fro man `til to beest thei ben myne; Y am the Lord.
Car tout premier-né m’appartient: le jour où j’ai frappé tous les premiers-nés du pays d’Egypte, j’ai consacré à moi tout premier-né en Israël, depuis l’homme jusqu’au bétail, ils m’appartiennent, à moi l’Éternel."
14 And the Lord spak to Moises in the deseert
L’Éternel parla à Moïse, dans le désert de Sinaï, en ces termes:
15 of Synay, and seide, Noumbre thou the sones of Leuy bi `the housis of her fadris, and bi meynees, ech male fro o monethe and aboue.
"Fais le dénombrement des enfants de Lévi, selon leur descendance paternelle, par familles; tous les mâles, depuis l’âge d’un mois et au-delà, tu les dénombreras."
16 Moises noumbride, as the Lord comaundide.
Moïse les dénombra sur l’ordre de l’Éternel, de la manière qui lui avait été prescrite.
17 And the sones of Leuy weren foundun, bi her names, Gerson, and Caath, and Merary;
Or, les fils de Lévi étaient les suivants, ainsi nommés: Gerson, Kehath et Merari.
18 the sones of Gerson weren Lebny, and Semey;
Voici les noms des fils de Gerson avec leurs familles: Libni et Chimi;
19 the sones of Caath weren Amram, and Jessaar, Hebron, and Oziel;
les fils de Kehath avec leurs familles: Amram et Yiçhar, Hébrôn et Ouzziêl;
20 and the sones of Merari weren Mooly, and Musi.
et les fils de Merari avec leurs familles: Mahli et Mouchi. Telles sont les familles des Lévites, selon leur descendance paternelle.
21 Of Gerson weren twei meynees, of Lebny, and of Semei;
Pour Gerson: la famille des Libnites et la famille des Chimites. Telles sont les familles issues de Gerson.
22 of whiche the puple of male kynde was noumbrid, fro o monethe and aboue, seuene thousynde and fyue hundrid.
Dénombrées par le chiffre total des mâles, de l’âge d’un mois et au-delà, elles se composaient de sept mille cinq cents hommes.
23 These schulen sette tentis aftir the tabernacle at the west,
Les familles issues de Gerson devaient camper derrière le tabernacle, à l’occident.
24 vndur the prince Eliasaph, the sone of Jahel.
Le chef de famille, pour les Gersonites, était Elyaçaf, fils de Laël.
25 And thei schulen haue kepyngis in the tabernacle of boond of pees, the tabernacle it silf, and the hilyng therof, the tente which is drawun bifor the yatis of the hilyng of the witnessyng of boond of pees;
Et ce qu’avaient à garder les enfants de Gerson dans la tente d’assignation, c’était: le tabernacle et le pavillon, ses couvertures, et le rideau d’entrée de la tente d’assignation;
26 and the curteyns of the greet street, also the tente which is hangid in the entryng of the greet street of the tabernacle, and what euer thing perteyneth to the custom of the auter, the cordis of the tabernacle, and al the purtenaunce therof.
les toiles du parvis, le rideau d’entrée du parvis, qui s’étend autour du tabernacle et de l’autel, ainsi que les cordages nécessaires à son service.
27 The kynrede of Caath schal haue the puplis of Amram, and of Jessaar, and of Ebron, and of Oziel;
Pour Kehath: la famille des Amramites, la famille des Yiçharites, celle des Hébronites et celle des Ouzziêlites. Telles sont les familles issues de Kehath.
28 these ben the meynees of Caathitis, noumbrid bi her names, alle of male kynde, fro o monethe and aboue, eiyte thousynde and sixe hundrid.
Le chiffre total des mâles, depuis l’âge d’un mois et au-delà, fut de huit mille six cents, commis à la garde du sanctuaire.
29 Thei schulen haue kepyngis of the seyntuarie, and schulen sette tentis at the south coost;
Les familles des enfants de Kehath devaient occuper le flanc méridional du tabernacle.
30 and `the prince of hem schal be Elisaphan, the sone of Oziel.
Le chef de famille, pour la descendance de Kehath, était Eliçafân, fils d’Ouzziêl.
31 And thei schulen kepe the arke, and the boord, and the candilstike, the auters, and vesselis of the seyntuarie in whiche it is mynystrid, and the veil, and al sich purtenaunce.
Et les objets confiés à leur garde: l’arche, la table, le candélabre, les autels, les ustensiles sacrés servant au ministère, et le voile avec tout son appareil.
32 Sotheli the prince of princis of Leuytis schal be Eleazar, the sone of Aaron, preest; and he schal be on the keperis of the kepyng of the seyntuarie.
Le chef général des Lévites était Eléazar, fils d’Aaron le pontife, ayant l’inspection de ceux qui étaient chargés de la garde du sanctuaire.
33 And sotheli of Merary schulen be the puplis of Mooli, and of Musi,
Pour Merari: la famille des Mahlites et la famille des Mouchites. Telles sont les familles de Merari.
34 noumbrid bi her names, alle of male kynde fro o monethe and aboue, sixe thousynde and two hundrid;
Leur contingent, d’après le relevé de tous les mâles âgés d’un mois et au-delà, fut de six mille deux cents hommes.
35 `the prince of hem schal be Suriel, the sone of Abiahiel; thei schulen sette tentis in the north coost.
Le chef de famille, pour la descendance de Merari, était Courïel, fils d’Abihayil. C’Est au flanc nord du tabernacle qu’ils devaient camper.
36 And vndur `the kepyng of hem schulen be the tablis of the tabernacle, and the barris, and the pileris, and `the foundementis of tho, and alle thingis that perteynen to sich ournyng,
Dépôt confié à la garde des Merarites: les solives du tabernacle, ses traverses, ses piliers et ses socles, toutes ses pièces et toute sa dépendance;
37 and the pileris of the greet street bi cumpas, with her foundementis, and the stakis with coordis.
les piliers formant le pourtour du parvis, ainsi que leurs socles, leurs chevilles et leurs cordages.
38 Forsothe Moises and Aaron with hise sones schulen sette tentis bifor the tabernacle of boond of pees, that is, at the eest coost, and schulen haue the keping of the seyntuarie, in the myddis of the sones of Israel; what euer alien neiyeth, he schal die.
Pour ceux qui stationnaient à la face orientale du tabernacle, devant la tente d’assignation, au levant, c’étaient Moïse, Aaron et ses fils, chargés de la garde du sanctuaire, pour le salut des enfants d’Israël: le profane qui en approchait encourait la mort.
39 Alle the Leuytis, whiche Moises and Aaron noumbriden, bi comaundement of the Lord, bi her meynees, in male kynde, fro o monethe and aboue, were two and twenti thousynd.
Le nombre total des Lévites, recensés par Moïse et Aaron, sur l’ordre de l’Éternel, selon leurs familles, le total des mâles de l’âge d’un mois et au-delà, fut de vingt-deux mille.
40 And the Lord seide to Moises, Noumbre thou the firste gendrid children of male kynde of the sones of Israel, fro o monethe and aboue; and thou schalt haue the summe of hem; and
L’Éternel dit à Moïse: "Dénombre tous les premiers-nés mâles des enfants d’Israël, depuis l’âge d’un mois et au-dessus, et fais-en le relevé nominal.
41 thou schalt take Leuytis to me for alle the firste gendrid of the sones of Israel; Y am the Lord; and thou schalt take `the beestis of hem for alle the firste gendrid of the sones of Israel.
Tu m’attribueras les Lévites, à moi l’Éternel, à la place de tous les premiers-nés des enfants d’Israël, et le bétail des Lévites à la place des premiers-nés du bétail des enfants d’Israël."
42 And as the Lord comaundide, Moises noumbride the firste gendrid children of the sones of Israel; and the males weren bi her names,
Moïse dénombra, comme l’Éternel le lui avait ordonné, tous les premiers-nés parmi les enfants d’Israël.
43 fro o monethe and aboue, two and twenti thousynde two hundrid and seuenti and thre.
Or, la somme des premiers-nés mâles, comptés par noms depuis l’âge d’un mois et au-delà, dans ce recensement, fut de vingt-deux mille deux cent soixante-treize.
44 And the Lord spak to Moises, and seide,
Et l’Éternel parla ainsi à Moïse:
45 Take thou Leuytis for the firste gendrid children of the sones of Israel, and the beestis of Leuytis for the beestis of hem, and the Leuytis schulen be myne; Y am the Lord.
"Prends les Lévites à la place de tous les premiers-nés des enfants d’Israël, et le bétail des Lévites à la place de leur bétail, les Lévites devant m’appartenir, à moi l’Éternel.
46 Forsothe in the prijs of two hundrid seuenti and thre, that passen the noumbre of `Leuytis, of the firste gendrid children of the sones of Israel,
Pour la rançon des deux cent soixante-treize, excédent des premiers-nés israélites sur le nombre des Lévites,
47 thou schalt take fyue ciclis bi ech heed, at the mesure of seyntuarie; a sicle hath xx. halpens;
tu prendras cinq sicles par chaque tête; tu les prendras selon le poids du sanctuaire, à vingt ghéra le sicle,
48 and thou schalt yyue the money to Aaron and to hise sones, the prijs of hem that ben aboue.
et tu donneras cet argent à Aaron et à ses fils, comme rachat de la portion excédante."
49 Therfor Moises took the money of hem that weren aboue, and whiche thei hadden ayenbouyt of the Leuytis, for the firste gendrid of the sones of Israel,
Moïse recueillit le montant de la rançon, donnée par ceux qui étaient en plus du nombre racheté par les Lévites.
50 a thousand thre hundrid sixti and fyue of siclis, bi the weiyte of seyntuarie;
C’Est des premiers-nés des enfants d’Israël qu’il reçut cette somme, mille trois cent soixante-cinq sicles, au poids du sanctuaire.
51 and he yaf that money to Aaron and to hise sones, bi the word which the Lord comaundide to hym.
Et Moïse remit le montant du rachat à Aaron et à ses fils, sur l’ordre de l’Éternel, ainsi que l’Éternel l’avait prescrit à Moïse.
