Numbers 23
1 And Balaam seide to Balaach, Bilde thou here to me seuene auteris, and make redi so many caluys, and rammes of the same noumbre.
Och Bileam sade till Balak: Bygg mig här sju altare, och låt mig få hit sju stutar och sju vädrar.
2 And whanne he hadde do bi the word of Balaam, thei puttiden a calf and a ram to gidere on the auter.
Balak gjorde som Bileam honom sade. Och både Balak och Bileam offrade, ju på hvart altare en stut och en vädur.
3 And Balaam seide to Balaach, Stond thou a litil while bisidis thi brent sacrifice, while Y go, if in hap the Lord meete me; and Y schal `speke to thee what euer thing he schal comaunde.
Och Bileam sade till Balak: Gack till ditt bränneoffer; och jag vill gå bort; om tilläfventyrs Herren kan komma emot mig, och undervisa mig hvad jag skall säga dig. Och gick åstad hasteliga.
4 And whanne he hadde go swiftli, God cam to hym; and Balaam spak to hym, and seide, Y reiside seuene auteris, and Y puttide a calf and a ram aboue.
Och Gud kom emot Bileam. Men han sade till honom: Sju altare hafver jag tillredt, och ju på hvart altaret en stut och en vädur offrat.
5 Forsothe the Lord `puttide a word in his mouth, and seide, Turne ayen to Balaach, and thou schalt speke these thingis.
Och Herren gaf Bileam ordet i munnen, och sade: Gack till Balak igen, och säg alltså.
6 He turnede ayen, and fond Balach stondynge bisidis his brent sacrifice, and alle the princes of Moabitis.
Och då han kom igen till honom, si då stod han när sitt bränneoffer, med alla de Moabiters Förstar.
7 And whanne his parable `was takun, he seide, Balaach, the kyng of Moabitis, brouyte me fro Aran, fro the `hillis of the eest; and he seide, Come thou and curse Jacob; haaste thou, and greetli curse thou Israel.
Då hof han sitt tal upp, och sade: Utaf Syrien hafver Balak, de Moabiters Konung, låtit hemta mig, ifrå bergen österut: Kom och förbanna mig Jacob; kom, tala ondt emot Israel.
8 How schal Y curse whom God cursid not? bi what resoun schal Y `haue abhomynable whom God `hath not abhomynable?
Huru skall jag förbanna den Gud icke förbannar? Huru skall jag tala ondt emot den Herren intet ondt emot talar?
9 Fro the hiyeste flyntis Y schal se hym, and fro litle hillis Y schal biholde hym; the puple schal dwelle aloone, and it schal not be arettid among hethene men.
Ty af bergshöjden ser jag honom väl, och af högarna skådar jag honom. Si, det folket varder allena boendes, och icke skall räknadt varda ibland Hedningar.
10 Who may noumbre the dust, that is, kynrede, of Jacob, and knowe the noumbre of the generacioun of Israel? My lijf die in the deeth of iust men, and my laste thingis be maad lijk hem!
Ho kan räkna Jacobs stoft, och talet på fjerdedelen af Israel? Min själ dö med de rättfärdigas död, och min ände varde såsom dessas ände.
11 And Balaach seide to Balaam, What is this that thou doist? Y clepide thee, that thou schuldist curse myn enemyes, and ayenward thou blessist hem.
Då sade Balak till Bileam: Hvad gör du mig? Jag hafver låtit hemta dig till att förbanna mina fiendar, och si, du välsignar dem.
12 To whom Balaam answeride, Whether Y may speke othir thing no but that that the Lord comaundith?
Han svarade, och sade: Skulle jag icke det hålla och tala, som Herren gifver mig i munnen?
13 Therfor Balaach seide to Balaam, Come with me in to anothir place, fro whennus thou se a part of Israel, and mayst not se al; fro thennus curse thou hym.
Balak sade till honom: Kom då med mig på en annan plats, dädan du hans ända ser, och dock icke allansamman ser; och förbanna mig honom der.
14 And whanne he hadde led Balaam in to an hiy place, on the cop of the hil of Phasga, he bildide seuene auteris to Balaam, and whanne calues and rammes weren put aboue,
Och tog han honom på en fri plan, uppå kullen af berget Pisga, och byggde sju altare, och offrade ju på hvart altaret en stut och en vädur;
15 he seide to Balaach, Stonde here bisidis thi brent sacrifice, while Y go.
Och sade till Balak: Gack till ditt bränneoffer; jag vill vänta derborta.
16 And whanne the Lord hadde `come to him, and hadde put `a word in his mouth, he seide, Turne ayen to Balach, and thou schalt seie these thingis to hym.
Och Herren kom emot Bileam, och gaf honom ordet i hans mun, och sade: Gack till Balak igen, och säg alltså.
17 He turnyde ayen, and foond Balach stondynge bisidis his brent sacrifice, and the princis of Moabitis with hym. To whom Balach seide, What spak the Lord?
Och då han kom igen till honom, si, då stod han när sitt bränneoffer, med de Moabiters Förstar. Och Balak sade till honom: Hvad hafver Herren sagt?
18 And whanne his parable `was takun, he seide, Stonde, Balach, and herkene; here, thou sone of Sephor. God is not `as a man,
Och han hof upp sitt tal, och sade: Statt upp, Balak, och hör; fatta i öronen hvad jag säger, du Zipors son:
19 that he lye, nethir he is as the sone of a man, that he be chaungid; therfor he seide, and schal he not do? he spak, and schal he not fulfille?
Gud är icke en menniska, att han kan ljuga; eller menniskobarn, att honom något kan ångra. Skulle han säga något, och icke görat? Skulle han något tala, och icke hållat?
20 Y am brouyt to blesse, Y may not forbede blessyng.
Si, till att välsigna är jag hit hafd; jag välsignar, och kan icke omvändat.
21 Noon idol is in Jacob, nethir symylacre is seyn in Israel; his Lord God is with hym, and the sown of victorie of kyng is in hym.
Man ser ingen mödo i Jacob, och intet arbete i Israel; Herren hans Gud är när honom, och Konungens trummetning ibland honom.
22 The Lord God ledde hym out of Egipt, whos strengthe is lijk an vnicorn;
Gud hafver fört honom utur Egypten; hans frimodighet är såsom ens enhörnings.
23 fals tellyng bi chiteryng of bryddis, `ethir idolatrie, is not in Jacob, nethir fals dyuynyng is in Israel. In his tymes it schal be seide to Jacob and Israel, What the Lord hath wrought!
Ty ingen trollkarl är i Jacob, och ingen spåman i Israel. I sin tid varder man sägandes om Jacob och om Israel, hvilka under Gud gör.
24 Lo! the puple schal rise to gidere as a lionesse, and schal be reisid as a lioun; the lioun schal not reste, til he deuoure prey, and drynke the blood of hem that ben slayn.
Si, det folket varder uppståndandes såsom ett ungt lejon, och varder sig uppresandes såsom ett lejon; det skall icke lägga sig, tilldess det äter rof, och dricker deras blod, som slagne äro.
25 And Balach seide to Balaam, Nether curse thou, nether blesse thou hym.
Då sade Balak till Bileam: Du skall hvarken förbanna dem, eller välsigna dem.
26 And he seide, Whether Y seide not to thee, that what euer thing that God comaundide to me, Y wolde do this?
Bileam svarade, och sade till Balak: Hafver jag icke sagt dig, att allt det Herren talandes vorde, det måste jag göra?
27 And Balach seide to hym, Come, and Y schal lede thee to an other place, if in hap it plesith God that fro thennus thou curse hym.
Balak sade till honom: Kom, jag vill hafva dig på en annan plats; om tilläfventyrs Gudi må täckas, att du förbannar dem der.
28 And whanne Balaach hadde led hym out on the `cop of the hil of Phegor, that biholdith the wildirnesse,
Och han tog honom upp på kullen af det berget Peor, hvilket vet åt öknena.
29 Balaam seide to hym, Bilde here seuene auteris to me, and make redi so many caluys, and rammes of the same noumbre.
Och Bileam sade till Balak: Bygg mig här sju altare, och låt mig få sju stutar och sju vädrar.
30 Balaach dide as Balaam seide, and he puttide caluys and rammes, bi alle auteris.
Balak gjorde såsom Bileam sade, och offrade ju uppå hvart altaret en stut och en vädur.
