Numbers 21
1 And whanne Chananei, the kyng of Arad, that dwellide at the south, hadde herd this, that is, that Israel cam bi the weye of aspieris, he fauyt ayens hem; and Chananei was ouercomere and ledde pray of Israel.
Khi vua A-rát, người Ca-na-an, ở nơi Nam phương, hay rằng Y-sơ-ra-ên theo đường do thám đi đến, bèn hãm đánh Y-sơ-ra-ên, và bắt mấy người cầm tù.
2 And Israel bounde hym sylf bi avow to the Lord, and seide, If thou schalt bitake this puple in myn hond, Y schal do awei `the citees therof.
Y-sơ-ra-ên bèn hứa nguyện cùng Đức Giê-hô-va rằng: Nếu Chúa phó dân nầy vào tay tôi, tất tôi sẽ diệt các thành của nó.
3 And the Lord herde the preieris of Israel, and bitook the Chananey; and Israel killid hym, and distruyede hise citees; and clepide the name of that place Horma, that is, cursyng, `ethir hangyng up.
Đức Giê-hô-va nhậm lời dân Y-sơ-ra-ên và phó dân Ca-na-an cho. Người ta diệt hết dân đó và các thành của nó, đặt tên chỗ nầy là Họt-ma.
4 `Forsothe thei yeden forth also fro the hil of Hor, bi the weie that ledith to the reed see, that thei schulden cumpasse the lond of Edom; and it bigan to anoye the puple, of the weie and trauel.
Đoạn, dân Y-sơ-ra-ên đi từ núi Hô-rơ về hướng Biển đỏ, đặng đi vòng theo xứ Ê-đôm; giữa đường dân sự ngã lòng.
5 And the puple spak ayens the Lord and Moises, and seide, Whi leddist thou vs out of Egipt, that we schulden die in wildirnesse? breed failith, watris ben not; oure soule wlatith now on this `meete moost liyt.
Vậy, dân sự nói nghịch cùng Đức Chúa Trời và Môi-se mà rằng: Làm sao người khiến chúng tôi lên khỏi xứ Ê-díp-tô đặng chết trong đồng vắng? Vì đây không có bánh, cũng không có nước, và linh hồn chúng tôi đã ghê gớm thứ đồ ăn đạm bạc nầy.
6 Wherfor the Lord sente `firid serpentis in to the puple; at the woundis of whiche serpentis, and the dethis of ful many men,
Đức Giê-hô-va sai con rắn lửa đến trong dân sự, cắn dân đó đến đỗi người Y-sơ-ra-ên chết rất nhiều.
7 thei camen to Moyses, and seiden, We synneden, for we spaken ayens the Lord and thee; preie thou, that he take awey fro vs the serpentis.
Dân sự bèn đến cùng Môi-se mà nói rằng: Chúng tôi có phạm tội, vì đã nói nghịch Đức Giê-hô-va và người. Hãy cầu xin Đức Giê-hô-va để Ngài khiến rắn lìa xa chúng tôi. Môi-se cầu khẩn cho dân sự.
8 And Moises preiede for the puple; and the Lord seide to hym, Make thou a serpent of bras, and sette thou it for a signe; he that is smytun and biholdith it, schal lyue.
Đức Giê-hô-va phán cùng Môi-se rằng: Hãy làm lấy một con rắn lửa, rồi treo nó trên một cây sào. Nếu ai bị cắn và nhìn nó, thì sẽ được sống.
9 Therfor Moyses made a serpent of bras, and settide for a signe; and men smytun and biholdynge it, weren heelid.
Vậy, Môi-se làm một con rắn bằng đồng, rồi treo lên một cây sào; nếu người nào đã bị rắn cắn mà nhìn con rắn bằng đồng, thì được sống.
10 And the sones of Israel yeden forth,
Kế đó, dân Y-sơ-ra-ên đi và đóng trại tại Ô-bốt.
11 and settiden tentis in Oboth; fro whennus thei yeden forth, and settiden tentis in Neabarym, in the wildirnesse, that biholdith Moab, ayens the eest coost.
Đoạn, đi từ Ô-bốt và đóng trại tại Y-giê-A-ba-rim, tại đồng vắng, đối ngang Mô-áp về hướng mặt trời mọc.
12 And thei moueden fro thennus, and camen to the stronde of Zareth;
Họ đi từ đó đóng trại tại đèo Xê-rết.
13 which thei leften, and settiden tentis ayens Arnon, which is in the deseert, and apperith in the coostis of Amorrei. Forsothe Arnon is the terme of Moab, and departith Moabitis and Ammoreis.
Rồi từ đó đi và đóng trại phía bên kia Aït-nôn, ở trong đồng vắng, vừa ra bờ cõi dân A-mô-rít; vì Aït-nôn là giáp-ranh của dân Mô-áp và dân A-mô-rít.
14 Wherfor it is seid in the book of batels of the Lord, As he dide in the reed see, so he schal do in the strondis of Arnon;
Bởi cớ đó, trong sách chiến trận của Đức Giê-hô-va có nói rằng: Va-hép ở tại Su-pha, và trũng Aït-nôn,
15 the harde rochis of the strondis weren bowid, that tho schulen reste in Arnon, and schulden ligge in the coostis of Moabitis.
cùng những triền trũng chạy xuống phía A-rơ, và đụng ranh Mô-áp.
16 Fro that place the pit apperide, of which the Lord spak to Moyses, Gadere thou the puple, and Y schal yyue watir to it.
Từ đó dân Y-sơ-ra-ên đến Bê-re, ấy đó là cái giếng mà Đức Giê-hô-va phán cùng Môi-se rằng: Hãy nhóm hiệp dân sự, ta sẽ cho chúng nó nước.
17 Thanne Israel soong this song, The pit stie;
Y-sơ-ra-ên bèn hát bài nầy: Hỡi giếng, hãy tuôn lên! hãy ca hát cho nó!
18 thei sungen togidere, The pit which the princes diggiden, and the duykis of the multitude maden redi, in the yyuere of the lawe, and in her stauys. And thei yeden forth fro the wildirnesse to Mathana,
Giếng mà các vua chúa đã khai, Các tước vị của dân sự đã đào Với phủ việt cùng cây gậy mình!
19 fro Mathana to Naaliel, fro Naaliel in to Bamoth;
Kế đó, từ đồng vắng dân Y-sơ-ra-ên đến Ma-tha-na; rồi từ Ma-tha-na đến Na-ha-li-ên; từ Na-ha-li-ên đến Ba-mốt;
20 Bamoth is a valey in the cuntrey of Moab, in the cop of Phasga, that biholdith ayens the deseert.
và từ Ba-mốt đến trũng ở trong bờ cõi Mô-áp, tại chót núi Phích-ga, là nơi người ta nhìn thấy đồng bằng của sa mạc.
21 Forsothe Israel sente messangeris to Seon, kyng of Ammorreis, and seide,
Vả, Y-sơ-ra-ên sai sứ giả đến Si-hôn, vua dân A-mô-rít, đặng nói rằng:
22 Y biseche that it be leueful to me to passe thorou thi loond; we schulen not bowe in to the feeldis and vyneris; we schulen not drynke watris of pittis; we schulen go in the kyngis weie, til we passen thi termes.
Xin cho phép chúng tôi đi ngang qua xứ vua, chúng tôi sẽ không xây vào đồng ruộng, hay là vào vườn nho, và chúng tôi cũng sẽ không uống nước các giếng, cứ đi đường cái của vua cho đến chừng nào qua khỏi bờ cõi vua.
23 Which nolde graunte that Israel schulde passe thury hise coostis, but rather, whanne the oost was gaderid, he yede out ayens Israel, in to deseert. And he cam in to Yasa, and fauyt ayens Israel;
Nhưng Si-hôn không cho phép Y-sơ-ra-ên đi ngang qua bờ cõi mình, bèn hiệp hết dân sự mình đi ra đón Y-sơ-ra-ên về hướng đồng vắng; người đến Gia-hát, chiến trận cùng Y-sơ-ra-ên.
24 of whom he was smytun in the scharpnesse of swerd, and his lond was weldid fro Arnon `til to Jeboth and `the sones of Amon; for the termes of Amonytis weren holdun bi strong help.
Song Y-sơ-ra-ên dùng lưỡi gươm đánh bại người, và chiếm xứ người từ Aït-nôn đến Gia-bốc, đến dân Am-môn; vì bờ cõi dân Am-môn bền vững.
25 Therfor Israel took alle `the citees of hym, and dwelliden in the citees of Amorrei, that is, in Esebon, and hise townes.
Y-sơ-ra-ên chiếm hết các thành nầy, và ở trong các thành dân A-mô-rít, là ở tại Hết-bôn và trong các thành địa-hạt.
26 The citee of Esebon was Seons, kyng of Ammorei, which Seon fauyt ayens the kyng of Moab, and took al the lond that was of his lordschip, `til to Arnon.
Vì Hết-bôn là thành của Si-hôn, vua dân A-mô-rít, là vua đã giao chiến cùng vua trước của Mô-áp, chiếm lấy khắp hết xứ người đến Aït-nôn.
27 Therfor it is seid in prouerbe, Come ye in to Esebon, be it bildid, and maad the citee of Seon;
Bởi cớ đó, những nhà văn sĩ nói rằng: Hãy đến Hết-bôn! Thành Si-hôn phải xây cất và lập vững!
28 fier yede out of Esebon, flawme yede out of the citee `ethir greet castel of Seon, and deuouryde Ar of Moabitis, and the dwelleris of the `hiye places of Arnon.
Vì có một đám lửa bởi thành Hết-bôn, Một ngọn lửa bởi thành Si-hôn mà ra; Nó thiêu đốt A-rơ của Mô-áp, Các chúa của nơi cao Aït-nôn
29 Moab, wo to thee! thou, puple of Chamos, perischidist; it yaf the sones therof in to fliyt, and the douytris in to caitifte to Seon, kyng of Ammoreis;
Hỡi Mô-áp, khốn thay cho ngươi! Hỡi dân Kê-móc, ngươi đã diệt mất! Ngươi đã nộp con trai mình làm kẻ trốn tránh, Và con gái mình làm phu tù cho Si-hôn, vua A-mô-rít.
30 the yok of hem perischide, fro Esebon `til to Dibon; the wery men camen in to Jophe, and `til to Medaba.
Chúng ta đã bắn tên nhằm chúng nó. Hết-bôn đã bị hủy diệt cho đến Đi-bôn. Chúng ta đã làm tàn hại đến Nô-phách, Lửa đã lan đến Mê-đê-ba.
31 And so Israel dwellide in the lond of Ammorrey.
Vậy, Y-sơ-ra-ên ở trong xứ dân A-mô-rít.
32 And Moises sente men that schulden aspie Jaser, whos `townes thei token, and weldiden the dwelleris.
Môi-se sai đi do thám Gia-ê-xe, chiếm các thành bổn hạt và đuổi dân A-mô-rít ở tại đó.
33 And thei turniden hem silf, and stieden bi the weie of Basan. And Og, the kyng of Basan, with al his puple cam ayens hem, to fiyte in Edray.
Đoạn, dân Y-sơ-ra-ên trở lại đi lên về hướng Ba-san, Oùc, vua Ba-san, và cả dân sự người đi ra đón đặng chiến trận tại Eát-rê-i.
34 And the Lord seide to Moises, Drede thou not hym, for Y haue bitake hym, and al his loond, and puple, in thin hoond; and thou schalt do to hym as thou didist to Seon, kyng of Ammorreis, the dwellere of Esebon.
Nhưng Đức Giê-hô-va phán cùng Môi-se rằng: Đừng sợ người, vì ta đã phó người, luôn dân sự và xứ người vào tay ngươi; ngươi khá làm cho người như đã làm cho Si-hôn, vua dân A-mô-rít ở tại Hết-bôn.
35 Therfor thei smytiden `bothe hym with hise sones and al his puple, `til to deeth; and thei weldiden `the lond of hym.
Vậy, dân Y-sơ-ra-ên đánh bại Oùc, các con trai người và cả dân sự người, cho đến chừng không còn người nào ở lại; dân Y-sơ-ra-ên chiếm lấy xứ người vậy.
