Numbers 16
1 Lo! forsothe Chore, the sone of Isuar, sone of Caath, sone of Leuy, and Dathan and Abiron, the sones of Heliab, and Hon, the sone of Pheleph, of the sones of Ruben, rysen ayens Moises,
Một người tên Cô-ra, con Đít-sê-hu, cháu Kê-hát, chắt Lê-vi, âm mưu với ba người thuộc đại tộc Ru-bên là Đa-than, A-bi-ram, hai con của Ê-li-áp, và Ôn, con Phê-lết,
2 and othere of the sones of Israel, two hundryd men and fifti, prynces of the synagoge, and whiche weren clepid bi names in the tyme of counsel.
nổi loạn chống Môi-se. Có đến 250 người lãnh đạo Ít-ra-ên, là thành viên của hội đồng dân chúng, tham dự cuộc nổi loạn này.
3 And whanne `thei hadden stonde ayens Moises and Aaron, thei seiden, Suffice it to you, for al the multitude is of hooly men, and the Lord is in hem; whi ben ye reisid on the puple of the Lord?
Họ đến gặp Môi-se và A-rôn, nói: “Các ông chuyên quyền và lạm quyền quá! Toàn thể cộng đồng Ít-ra-ên đều là thánh và Chúa Hằng Hữu ở cùng tất cả chúng ta. Tại sao riêng hai ông tự cho mình có quyền cai trị dân của Chúa Hằng Hữu?”
4 And whanne Moises hadde herd this, he felde lowe on the face.
Nghe vậy, Môi-se quỳ xuống đất.
5 And he spak to Chore, and to al the multitude; he seide, Eerli the Lord schal make knowun whiche perteynen to hym, and he schal applie to hym hooli men; and thei whiche he hath chose, schulen neiye to hym.
Ông bảo Cô-ra và đồng bọn: “Sáng mai Chúa Hằng Hữu sẽ cho biết ai là người của Ngài, ai là người thánh được gần gũi Ngài, người Ngài chọn sẽ được phép đến gần Ngài.
6 Therfor do ye this thing; ech man take his cencere, thou Chore, and al thi counsel;
Ông Cô-ra, và tất cả những người theo ông đều phải làm điều này: Hãy cầm lấy lư hương,
7 and to morewe whanne fier is takun vp, putte ye encense aboue bifor the Lord, and whom euer the Lord chesith, he schal be hooli. Ye sones of Leuy ben myche reisid.
và ngày mai, trước mặt Chúa Hằng Hữu, hãy để lửa và trầm hương vào. Người nào Chúa Hằng Hữu chọn chính là người thánh. Những người Lê-vi theo ngươi thật là quá quắt!”
8 And eft Moises seide to Chore, Ye sones of Leuy, here.
Môi-se lại bảo Cô-ra: “Này, con cháu Lê-vi, nghe đây!
9 Whether it is litil to you, that God of Israel departide you fro al the puple, and ioynede you to hym silf, that ye schulden serue hym in the seruyce of tabernacle, and that ye schulden stonde bifor the multitude of puple, and schulden serue hym?
Đức Chúa Trời của Ít-ra-ên đã biệt riêng các ông khỏi cộng đồng Ít-ra-ên và đem các ông đến gần Ngài để làm công việc tại Đền Tạm của Chúa Hằng Hữu, và để các ông đứng trước mặt cộng đồng và phục vụ họ, việc ấy chưa đủ sao?
10 Made he therfor thee and alle thi bretheren the sones of Leuy to neiy to hym silf, that ye chalenge to you also preesthod,
Ngài đã đem ông và tất cả anh em người Lê-vi đến gần Ngài, thế mà bây giờ các ông lại muốn chiếm đoạt chức tế lễ nữa.
11 and al thi gaderyng togidere stonde ayens the Lord? For whi what is Aaron, that ye grutchen ayens hym?
Ông và những người theo ông đã toa rập nhau để chống đối Chúa Hằng Hữu, chứ A-rôn có làm gì mà các ông oán trách?”
12 Therfor Moises sente to clepe Dathan and Abiron, the sones of Heliab; whiche answeriden, We comen not.
Nói xong, Môi-se sai người đi mời Đa-than và A-bi-ram, con Ê-li-áp, nhưng họ nói: “Chúng tôi không thèm đến đâu!
13 Whethir is it litil to thee, that thou leddist vs out of the lond that flowide with mylk and hony, to sle vs in the deseert, no but also thou be lord of vs?
Ông đã bắt chúng tôi bỏ một xứ phì nhiêu để vào chết trong hoang mạc, thế mà ông còn muốn làm vua chúng tôi nữa sao?
14 Verili thou hast bronyt vs in to the lond that flowith with streemys of mylk and hony, and hast youe to vs possessioun of feeldis, and of vyneris; whethir also thou wolt putte out oure iyen?
Ông đâu có đem chúng tôi vào xứ phì nhiêu, cũng chẳng cho chúng tôi đồng ruộng hay vườn nho. Ông còn đánh lừa chúng tôi nữa sao?” Họ nhất định không đến gặp Môi-se.
15 We comen not. And Moises was wrooth greetli, and seide to the Lord, Biholde thou not the sacrifices of hem; thou wost that Y took neuere of hem, yhe, a litil asse, nethir Y turmentide ony of hem.
Môi-se giận lắm nên thưa với Chúa Hằng Hữu: “Xin Chúa đừng nhậm tế lễ của họ! Con chẳng hề lấy gì của họ cả, dù chỉ là một con lừa, cũng không hề làm hại họ bao giờ.”
16 And Moises seide to Chore, Thou and al thi congregacioun stonde asidis half bifor the Lord, and Aaron to morewe bi hym silf.
Rồi Môi-se bảo Cô-ra: “Ngày mai, ông và những người theo ông sẽ cùng với A-rôn đến trình diện Chúa Hằng Hữu.
17 Take ye alle bi you silf youre censeris, and putte ye encense in tho, and offre ye to the Lord, tweyn hundrid and fifti censeris; and Aaron holde his censer.
Mỗi người phải lấy lư hương, bỏ hương vào, đem đến trước mặt Chúa Hằng Hữu, 250 người cầm lư hương, cả ông và A-rôn cũng sẽ cầm lư hương.”
18 And whanne thei hadden do this, while Moises and Aaron stoden,
Vậy, họ bỏ lửa và hương vào lư, cầm đến đứng chung với Môi-se và A-rôn tại cửa Đền Tạm.
19 and thei hadden gaderid al the multitude to the `dore of the tabernacle ayens hem, the glorie of the Lord apperide to alle.
Vì Cô-ra đã sách động dân chúng, nên họ kéo đến phản đối Môi-se và A-rôn tại cửa Đền Tạm. Vinh quang của Chúa Hằng Hữu hiện ra trước toàn dân.
20 And the Lord spak to Moises and Aaron,
Chúa Hằng Hữu phán bảo Môi-se và A-rôn:
21 and seide, Be ye departid fro the myddis of this congregacioun, that Y leese hem sodeynli.
“Hãy tránh xa họ ra, Ta sẽ tiêu diệt đám dân này tức khắc!”
22 Whiche felden lowe on the face, and seiden, Strongeste God of the spiritis of al fleisch, whethir `thin yre schal be fers ayens alle men, for o man synneth?
Hai ông liền quỳ xuống, thưa: “Lạy Đức Chúa Trời, là Chúa Tể của linh hồn mọi người, không lẽ vì một người phạm tội, mà Chúa giận toàn dân sao?”
23 And the Lord seide to Moises,
Chúa Hằng Hữu phán bảo Môi-se:
24 Comaunde thou to al the puple, that it be departid fro the tabernaclis of Chore, and of Dathan, and of Abiron.
“Con ra lệnh cho dân chúng tránh xa trại của Cô-ra, Đa-than, và A-bi-ram.”
25 And Moises roos, and yede to Dathan and Abiron; and while the eldre men of Israel sueden hym,
Môi-se đứng lên, đi đến trại của Đa-than và A-bi-ram, các trưởng lão cũng đi theo.
26 he seide to the cumpeny, Go ye awey fro the tabernaclis of wickid men, and nyle ye touche tho thingis that parteynen to hem, lest ye ben wlappid in the synnes of hem.
Ông kêu gọi dân chúng: “Xin anh chị em tránh xa trại của những người độc ác đó, đừng đụng đến một vật gì của họ hết, đừng để một ai phải chết vì tội của họ.”
27 And whanne thei hadden gon awei fro the tentis `of hem bi the cumpas, Dathan and Abiron yeden out, and stoden in the entryng of her tentis, with wyues, and fre children, and al the multitude.
Vậy, dân chúng đều tránh xa trại của Cô-ra, Đa-than, và A-bi-ram. Đa-than và A-bi-ram lì lợm ra đứng tại cửa trại, cùng với vợ và con cái lớn nhỏ của mình.
28 And Moises seide, In this ye schulen wite that the Lord sente me, that Y schulde do alle thingis whiche ye seen, and Y brouyte not forth tho of myn owne herte.
Môi-se nói: “Bây giờ mọi người sẽ biết rằng Chúa Hằng Hữu đã sai tôi làm công việc cho Ngài, vì những việc tôi đã làm không phải tự tôi đâu.
29 If thei perischen bi customable deeth of men, and wounde visite hem, bi which also othere men ben wont to be visitid,
Nếu những người này chết cách thông thường như tất cả người khác, thì Chúa Hằng Hữu đã không sai tôi.
30 the Lord sente not me; but if the Lord doith a newe thing, that the erthe opene his mouth, and swolewe hem, and alle thingis that perteynen to hem, and thei goen doun quyke in to helle, ye schulen wite that thei blasfemeden the Lord. (Sheol h7585)
Nhưng nếu Chúa Hằng Hữu làm một điều lạ, nếu đất nứt ra nuốt sống họ và mọi vật của họ, nếu họ còn sống mà đi xuống âm phủ, thì trường hợp này có nghĩa là họ đã khinh bỉ Chúa Hằng Hữu.” (Sheol h7585)
31 Therfor anoon as he cesside to speke, the erthe was brokun vndur her feet,
Môi-se vừa dứt lời, đất dưới chân họ liền nứt ra,
32 and the erthe openyde his mouth, and deuowride hem, with her tabernaclis, and al the catel `of hem;
nuốt chửng lấy họ và gia đình họ, luôn những người theo phe đảng Cô-ra. Tất cả tài sản họ đều bị đất nuốt.
33 and thei yeden doun quike in to helle, and weren hilid with erthe, and perischiden fro the myddis of the multitude. (Sheol h7585)
Vậy họ xuống âm phủ trong lúc đang sống, đất phủ lấp họ, và như vậy họ bị diệt trừ khỏi cộng đồng dân tộc. (Sheol h7585)
34 And sotheli al Israel that stood bi the cumpas, fledde fro the cry of men perischinge, and seide, Lest perauenture the erthe swolewe also vs.
Người Ít-ra-ên đứng chung quanh đó nghe tiếng thét lên, đều kinh hoàng chạy trốn, sợ đất nuốt mình.
35 But also fier yede out fro the Lord, and killide tweyn hundrid and fifti men that offriden encense.
Lửa từ Chúa Hằng Hữu lóe ra thiêu cháy 250 người dâng hương.
36 And the Lord spak to Moises, and seide,
Sau đó, Chúa Hằng Hữu phán bảo Môi-se:
37 Comaunde thou to Eleasar, sone of Aaron, preest, that he take the censeris that liggen in the brennyng, and that he schatere the fier hidur and thidur; for tho ben halewid in the dethis of synneris;
“Hãy dặn Ê-lê-a-sa, con trai Thầy Tế lễ A-rôn, nhặt các lư hương từ trong đám lửa ra, vì các lư hương ấy đã được thánh hóa. Cũng đem lửa trong các lư hương đi đổ ngoài xa.
38 and that he bringe forth tho in to platis, and naile to the auter, for encense is offrid in tho to the Lord, and tho ben halewid, that the sonis of Israel se tho for a signe and memorial.
Rồi lấy các lư hương của những người đã chết vì tội mình đem dát mỏng để bọc bàn thờ. Các lư hương trở nên thánh vì người ta đã dùng nó trước mặt Chúa Hằng Hữu. Tấm đồng dát mỏng bọc bàn thờ này có công dụng nhắc nhở, cảnh cáo người Ít-ra-ên.”
39 Therfor Eleazar, preest, took the brasun senseris, in whiche censeris thei whiche the brennyng deuouride hadden offrid, and he `brouyt forth tho in to platis, and nailide to the auter;
Thầy Tế lễ Ê-lê-a-sa vâng lời, lấy các lư hương đồng này, dát mỏng thành một tấm đồng dùng để bọc bàn thờ.
40 that the sones of Israel schulden haue thingis aftirward, bi whiche thei schulden remembre, lest ony alien, and which is not of the seed of Aaron, neiy to offre encense to the Lord, lest he suffre, as Chore sufferide, and al his multitude, while the Lord spak to Moises.
Tấm đồng này dùng để nhắc nhở, cảnh cáo người Ít-ra-ên rằng: Ngoài các thầy tế lễ là con cháu A-rôn ra, không ai được đến dâng hương trước mặt Chúa Hằng Hữu. Nếu ai bất tuân thì sẽ phải chết như Cô-ra và đồng bọn. Vậy Ê-lê-a-sa thi hành lệnh của Chúa Hằng Hữu do Môi-se truyền lại.
41 Forsothe al the multitude of the sones of Israel grutchide in the dai suynge ayens Moises and Aaron, and seide, Ye han slayn the puple of the Lord.
Thế nhưng, qua sáng hôm sau, dân chúng lại nổi lên trách móc Môi-se và A-rôn: “Các ông đã giết dân của Chúa Hằng Hữu.”
42 And whanne discensioun roos,
Họ họp nhau lại để chống nghịch Môi-se và A-rôn. Nhưng khi vừa quay lại phía Đền Tạm, họ thấy đám mây bao phủ đền, đồng thời vinh quang của Chúa Hằng Hữu xuất hiện.
43 and noise encresside, Moises and Aaron fledden to the tabernacle of the boond of pees; and aftir that thei entriden in to it, a cloude hilide the tabernacle, and the glorie of the Lord apperide.
Môi-se và A-rôn liền đi đến trước Đền Tạm.
44 And the Lord seide to Moises and to Aaron,
Chúa Hằng Hữu phán bảo Môi-se:
45 Go ye awey fro the myddis of this multitude, also now Y schal do awey hem. And whanne thei laien in the erthe, Moises seide to Aaron,
“Hãy tránh xa dân này ra, Ta sẽ tiêu diệt họ tức khắc.” Môi-se và A-rôn liền sấp mình xuống.
46 Take the censer, and whanne fyer is takun vp of the auter, caste encense aboue, and go soone to the puple, that thou preye for hem; for now ire is gon out fro the Lord, and the wounde is feers.
Môi-se giục A-rôn: “Anh lấy lư hương, gắp lửa trên bàn thờ vào, bỏ hương lên trên, đem ngay đến chỗ dân đứng để làm lễ chuộc tội cho họ, vì cơn phẫn nộ của Chúa Hằng Hữu đã phát ra, tai vạ đã khởi sự.”
47 And whanne Aaron hadde do this, and hadde runne to the myddis of the multitude, which the brennynge wastid thanne, he offeride encense;
A-rôn vâng lời Môi-se, chạy vào giữa đám dân. Vì tai vạ đã phát khởi trong dân chúng, ông bỏ hương vào lư, làm lễ chuộc tội cho dân.
48 and he stood bytwixe the deed men and lyuynge, and bisouyte for the puple, and the wounde ceesside.
A-rôn đứng giữa người sống và người chết, thì tai vạ dừng lại.
49 Sotheli thei that weren smytun weren fourtene thousynde of men and seuene hundrid, with outen hem that perischiden in the discencioun of Chore.
Số người chết vì tai vạ này lên đến 14.700 người, không kể số người chết với Cô-ra hôm trước.
50 And Aaron turnyde ayen to Moyses, to the dore of the tabernacle of boond of pees, aftir that the perischyng restide.
Khi tai vạ đã dừng lại, A-rôn trở về trước cửa Đền Tạm, nơi Môi-se đang đứng.
