Numbers 12
1 And Marie spak and Aaron ayens Moises, for his wijf a womman of Ethiope,
Alors Marie et Aaron parlèrent contre Moïse à l'occasion de la femme Ethiopienne qu'il avait prise, car il avait pris une femme Ethiopienne.
2 and seiden, Whethir God spak oneli by Moises? whethir he spak not also to vs in lijk maner? And whanne the Lord hadde herd this, he was wrooth greetli;
Et ils dirent: Est-ce que l'Eternel a parlé seulement par Moïse? n'a-t-il point aussi parlé par nous? et l'Eternel ouït cela.
3 for Moises was the myldest man, ouer alle men that dwelliden in erthe.
Or cet homme Moïse [était] fort doux, [et] plus que tous les hommes qui [étaient] sur la terre.
4 And anoon the Lord spak to Moises and to Aaron and to Marye, Go out ye thre aloone to the tabernacle of boond of pees. And whanne thei weren gon yn,
Et incontinent l'Eternel dit à Moïse, à Aaron, et à Marie: Venez vous trois au Tabernacle d'assignation; et ils y allèrent eux trois.
5 the Lord cam doun in a piler of cloude, and he stood in the entryng of the tabernacle, and clepide Aaron and Marie.
Alors l'Eternel descendit dans la colonne de nuée, et se tint à l'entrée du Tabernacle; puis il appela Aaron et Marie, et ils vinrent eux deux.
6 And whanne thei hadden go, he seide to hem, Here ye my wordis; if ony among you is a profete of the Lord, Y schal appere to hym in reuelacioun, ethir Y schal speke to hym bi `a dreem.
Et il dit: Ecoutez maintenant mes paroles: S'il y a quelque Prophète entre vous, moi qui suis l'Eternel je me ferai bien connaître à lui en vision, et je lui parlerai en songe.
7 And he seide, And my seruaunt Moises is not siche, which is moost feithful in al myn hows;
[Mais] il n'en est pas ainsi de mon serviteur Moïse, qui est fidèle en toute ma maison.
8 for Y speke to hym mouth to mouth, and he seeth God opynli, and not bi derke spechis and figuris. Why therfor dredden ye not to bacbite `ether depraue my seruaunt Moises?
Je parle avec lui bouche à bouche, et il me voit en effet, [et] non point en obscurité, ni dans aucune représentation de l'Eternel. Pourquoi donc n'avez-vous pas craint de parler contre mon Serviteur, contre Moïse?
9 And the Lord was wrooth ayens hem, and he wente a wei.
Ainsi la colère de l'Eternel s'embrasa contre eux; et il s'en alla.
10 And the cloude yede awei, that was on the tabernacle and lo! Marie apperide whijt with lepre as snow. And whanne Aaron biheelde hir, and siy hir bispreynd with lepre,
Car la nuée se retira de dessus le Tabernacle; et voici Marie était lépreuse, [blanche] comme neige; et Aaron regardant Marie, la vit lépreuse.
11 he seide to Moises, My lord, Y beseche, putte thou not this synne on vs,
Alors Aaron dit à Moïse: Hélas, mon seigneur! je te prie ne mets point sur nous ce péché, car nous avons fait follement, et nous avons péché.
12 which we diden folili, that this womman be not maad as deed, and as a deed borun thing which is cast out of the `wombe of his modir; lo! now the half of hir fleisch is deuourid with lepre.
Je te prie qu'elle ne soit point comme [un enfant] mort, dont la moitié de la chair est déjà consumée quand il sort du ventre de sa mère.
13 And Moises criede to the Lord, and seide, Lord, Y biseche, heele thou hir.
Alors Moïse cria à l'Eternel, en disant: Ô [Dieu] Fort, je te prie, guéris-la, je t'en prie.
14 To whom the Lord answerid, If hir fadir hadde spet in to hir face, where sche ouyte not to be fillid with schame, nameli in seuene daies? Therfor be sche departid out of the tentis bi seuen daies, and aftirward sche schal be clepid ayen.
Et l'Eternel répondit à Moïse: Si son père lui avait craché [en colère] au visage, n'en serait-elle pas dans l'ignominie pendant sept jours? Qu'elle demeure [donc] enfermée sept jours hors du camp, et après elle y sera reçue.
15 And so Marie was excludid out of the tentis bi seuene daies; and the puple was not mouyd fro that place, til Marie was clepid ayen.
Ainsi Marie fut enfermée hors du camp sept jours; et le peuple ne partit point de là jusqu'à ce que Marie fût reçue [dans le camp].
16 And the puple yede forth fro Asseroth, whanne the tentis weren set in the deseert of Pharan.
Après cela le peuple partit de Hatséroth, et ils campèrent au désert de Paran.
