Matthew 5
1 And Jhesus, seynge the puple, wente vp in to an hil; and whanne he was set, hise disciplis camen to hym.
Cuando vio la multitud subió a la colina y se sentó. Se acercaron a Él sus discípulos
2 And he openyde his mouth, and tauyte hem, and seide,
y les enseñaba:
3 Blessed ben pore men in spirit, for the kyngdom of heuenes is herne.
Inmensamente felices los pobres en espíritu, porque de ellos es el reino celestial.
4 Blessid ben mylde men, for thei schulen welde the erthe.
Inmensamente felices los que lloran, porque ellos serán consolados.
5 Blessid ben thei that mornen, for thei schulen be coumfortid.
Inmensamente felices los mansos, porque ellos heredarán la tierra.
6 Blessid ben thei that hungren and thristen riytwisnesse, for thei schulen be fulfillid.
Inmensamente felices los que tienen hambre y sed de justicia, porque ellos se saciarán.
7 Blessid ben merciful men, for thei schulen gete merci.
Inmensamente felices los misericordiosos, porque ellos alcanzarán misericordia.
8 Blessid ben thei that ben of clene herte, for thei schulen se God.
Inmensamente felices los de corazón limpio, porque ellos verán a Dios.
9 Blessid ben pesible men, for thei schulen be clepid Goddis children.
Inmensamente felices los que procuran la paz, porque ellos serán llamados hijos de Dios.
10 Blessid ben thei that suffren persecusioun for riytfulnesse, for the kingdam of heuenes is herne.
Inmensamente felices los que padecen persecución por causa de la justicia, porque de ellos es el reino celestial.
11 `Ye schulen be blessid, whanne men schulen curse you, and schulen pursue you, and shulen seie al yuel ayens you liynge, for me.
Inmensamente felices serán ustedes cuando los vituperen y los persigan, y digan toda clase de mal contra ustedes por causa de Mí.
12 Ioie ye, and be ye glad, for youre meede is plenteuouse in heuenes; for so thei han pursued `also profetis that weren bifor you.
Alégrense y gócense, pues su galardón es grande en los cielos, porque así persiguieron a los profetas antes de ustedes.
13 Ye ben salt of the erthe; that if the salt vanysche awey, whereynne schal it be saltid? To no thing it is worth ouere, no but that it be cast out, and be defoulid of men.
Ustedes son la sal de la tierra. Pero si la sal se vuelve insípida, ¿con qué será salada? Ya para nada es buena, sino para que se eche fuera y la pisoteen los hombres.
14 Ye ben liyt of the world; a citee set on an hil may not be hid;
Ustedes son la luz del mundo. Una ciudad asentada sobre una montaña no se puede esconder.
15 ne me teendith not a lanterne, and puttith it vndur a busschel, but on a candilstike, that it yyue liyt to alle that ben in the hous.
Tampoco encienden una lámpara para ponerla debajo de una caja, sino sobre el candelero, a fin de que alumbre a todos los que están en la casa.
16 So schyne youre liyt befor men, that thei se youre goode werkis, and glorifie youre fadir that is in heuenes.
Así alumbre su luz delante de los hombres, de manera que vean sus buenas obras y glorifiquen a su Padre celestial.
17 Nil ye deme, that Y cam to vndo the lawe, or the profetis; Y cam not to vndo the lawe, but to fulfille.
No piensen que vine a abolir la Ley o los profetas. No vine a abolir, sino a cumplir.
18 Forsothe Y seie to you, til heuene and erthe passe, o lettir or o titel shal not passe fro the lawe, til alle thingis be doon.
Porque en verdad les digo: Antes que pasen el cielo y la tierra, de ningún modo pasará una iota ni un trazo de letra de la Ley, hasta que todo se cumpla.
19 Therfor he that brekith oon of these leeste maundementis, and techith thus men, schal be clepid the leste in the rewme of heuenes; `but he that doith, and techith, schal be clepid greet in the kyngdom of heuenes.
Por tanto cualquiera que anule uno solo de estos Mandamientos, aunque sea muy pequeño, y así enseñe a los hombres, se llamará muy pequeño en el reino celestial. Pero cualquiera que los practique y enseñe se llamará grande en el reino celestial.
20 And Y seie to you, that but your riytfulnesse be more plenteuouse than of scribis and of Farisees, ye schulen not entre into the kyngdom of heuenes.
Porque les digo que si la justicia de ustedes no es mayor que la de los escribas y fariseos, de ningún modo entrarán en el reino celestial.
21 Ye han herd that it was seid to elde men, Thou schalt not slee; and he that sleeth, schal be gilti to doom.
Oyeron ustedes que se dijo a los antiguos: No asesinarás. Y cualquiera que asesine, quedará expuesto al juicio.
22 But Y seie to you, that ech man that is wrooth to his brothir, schal be gilti to doom; and he that seith to his brother, Fy! schal be gilti to the counseil; but he that seith, Fool, schal be gilti to the fier of helle. (Geenna g1067)
Pero Yo les digo que cualquiera que se enfurezca contra su hermano quedará expuesto al juicio. Cualquiera que diga a su hermano: ¡Raca! quedará expuesto ante el Tribunal Supremo, y cualquiera que diga: ¡Moré! quedará expuesto al fuego del infierno. (Geenna g1067)
23 Therfor if thou offrist thi yifte `at the auter, and ther thou bithenkist, that thi brothir hath sum what ayens thee,
Por tanto, si presentas tu ofrenda en el altar y allí recuerdas que tu hermano tiene algo contra ti,
24 leeue there thi yifte bifor the auter, and go first to be recounselid to thi brothir, and thanne thou schalt come, and schalt offre thi yifte.
deja allí tu ofrenda ante el altar, y anda, reconcíliate primero con tu hermano. Luego regresa y presenta tu ofrenda.
25 Be thou consentynge to thin aduersarie soone, while thou art in the weie with hym, lest perauenture thin aduersarie take thee to the domesman, and the domesman take thee to the mynystre, and thou be sent in to prisoun.
Ponte pronto de acuerdo con tu adversario mientras vas con él en el camino, no sea que el adversario te entregue al juez, y el juez al alguacil y seas encarcelado.
26 Treuli Y seie to thee, thou shalt not go out fro thennus, til thou yelde the last ferthing.
En verdad te digo que de ninguna manera saldrás de allí hasta que pagues el último centavo.
27 Ye han herd that it was seid to elde men, Thou schalt `do no letcherie.
Oyeron ustedes que se dijo: No adulterarás.
28 But Y seie to you, that euery man that seeth a womman for to coueite hir, hath now do letcherie bi hir in his herte.
Pero Yo les digo que cualquiera que mira a una mujer para codiciarla, ya adulteró con ella en su corazón.
29 That if thi riyt iye sclaundre thee, pulle hym out, and caste fro thee; for it spedith to thee, that oon of thi membris perische, than that al thi bodi go in to helle. (Geenna g1067)
Por tanto, si tu ojo derecho te es ocasión de caer, sácalo y échalo de ti, porque más te conviene que se pierda uno de tus miembros, y no que todo tu cuerpo sea lanzado al infierno. (Geenna g1067)
30 And if thi riyt hond sclaundre thee, kitte hym aweye, and caste fro thee; for it spedith to thee that oon of thi membris perische, than that al thi bodi go in to helle. (Geenna g1067)
Si tu mano derecha te es ocasión de caer, córtala y échala de ti, pues más te conviene que se pierda uno de tus miembros, y no que todo tu cuerpo vaya al infierno. (Geenna g1067)
31 And it hath be seyd, Who euere leeueth his wijf, yyue he to hir a libel of forsakyng.
También se dijo: Cualquiera que repudie a su esposa, dele carta de divorcio.
32 But Y seie to you, that euery man that leeueth his wijf, outtakun cause of fornycacioun, makith hir to do letcherie, and he that weddith the forsakun wijf, doith auowtrye.
Pero Yo les digo que cualquiera que repudia a su esposa, salvo por causa de fornicación, hace que ella adultere, y cualquiera que se case con una repudiada comete adulterio.
33 Eftsoone ye han herd, that it was seid to elde men, Thou schalt not forswere, but thou schalt yelde thin othis to the Lord.
Además ustedes oyeron que se dijo a los antiguos: No perjurarás, sino cumplirás tus juramentos al Señor.
34 But Y seie to you, that ye swere not `for ony thing; nethir bi heuene, for it is the trone of God;
Pero Yo les digo: No juren de ningún modo: ni por el cielo, porque es el trono de Dios,
35 nether bi the erthe, for it is the stole of his feet; nether bi Jerusalem, for it is the citee of a greet kyng; nether thou shalt not swere bi thin heed,
ni por la tierra, porque es el estrado de sus pies, ni hacia Jerusalén, porque es la ciudad del gran Rey,
36 for thou maist not make oon heere white, ne blacke;
ni jures por tu cabeza, pues no puedes hacer un solo cabello blanco o negro.
37 but be youre word, Yhe, yhe; Nay, nay; and that that is more than these, is of yuel.
Pero el hablar de ustedes sea: Sí, sí. No, no. Porque lo demás procede del maligno.
38 Ye han herd that it hath be seid, Iye for iye, and tothe for tothe.
Oyeron ustedes que se dijo: Ojo por ojo, y diente por diente.
39 But Y seie to you, that ye ayenstonde not an yuel man; but if ony smyte thee in the riyt cheke, schewe to him also the tothir;
Pero Yo les digo: No resistan al malvado. Más bien, al que te golpea en la mejilla derecha, ponle también la otra.
40 and to hym that wole stryue with thee in doom, and take awey thi coote, leeue thou `to him also thi mantil;
Al que quiera pelear contigo y quitarte la ropa externa, dale también la interna.
41 and who euer constreyneth thee a thousynde pacis, go thou with hym othir tweyne.
A cualquiera que te obligue a andar una milla, vé con él dos.
42 Yyue thou to hym that axith of thee, and turne not awey fro hym that wole borewe of thee.
Al que te pida, dale, y al que quiera tomar de ti prestado, no le vuelvas la espalda.
43 Ye han herd that it was seid, Thou shalt loue thi neiybore, and hate thin enemye.
Oyeron ustedes que se dijo: Amarás a tu prójimo y aborrecerás a tu enemigo.
44 But Y seie to you, loue ye youre enemyes, do ye wel to hem that hatiden you, and preye ye for hem that pursuen, and sclaundren you;
Pero Yo les digo: Amen a sus enemigos y oren por los que los persiguen,
45 that ye be the sones of your fadir that is in heuenes, that makith his sunne to rise vpon goode `and yuele men, and reyneth on iust men and vniuste.
para que sean hijos de su Padre celestial, Quien envía su sol sobre malos y buenos, y la lluvia para justos e injustos.
46 For if ye louen hem that louen you, what mede schulen ye han? whether pupplicans doon not this?
Porque si aman a los que los aman, ¿qué galardón tienen? ¿No hacen también lo mismo los publicanos?
47 And if ye greten youre britheren oonli, what schulen ye do more? ne doon not hethene men this?
Si solo saludan a sus hermanos, ¿qué otra cosa hacen? ¿No hacen también así los gentiles?
48 Therfore be ye parfit, as youre heuenli fadir is parfit.
Por tanto sean ustedes perfectos, como su Padre celestial es perfecto.
