Matthew 15
1 Thanne the scribis and the Farisees camen to hym fro Jerusalem, and seiden,
Các thầy dạy luật và Pha-ri-si từ Giê-ru-sa-lem đến chất vấn Chúa Giê-xu:
2 Whi breken thi disciplis the tradiciouns of eldere men? for thei waisschen not her hondis, whanne thei eten breed.
“Sao môn đệ Thầy không tuân theo tục lệ của người xưa truyền lại? Họ không rửa tay trước khi ăn!”
3 He answeride, and seide to hem, Whi breken ye the maundement of God for youre tradicioun?
Chúa Giê-xu đáp: “Thế sao tục lệ của các ông vi phạm mệnh lệnh của Đức Chúa Trời?
4 For God seide, Honoure thi fadir and thi modir, and he that cursith fadir or modir, die bi deeth.
Đức Chúa Trời dạy: ‘Phải hiếu kính cha mẹ,’ và ‘Ai nguyền rủa cha mẹ phải bị xử tử.’
5 But ye seien, Who euer seith to fadir or modir, What euere yifte is of me, it schal profite to thee;
Nhưng các ông cho là đúng khi con cái nói với cha mẹ rằng: ‘Con không thể giúp cha mẹ. Vì con đã lấy tiền phụng dưỡng cha mẹ dâng lên Đức Chúa Trời.’
6 and he hath not worschipid his fadir or his modir; and ye han maad the maundement of God voide for youre tradicioun.
Như vậy, vì truyền thống của mình mà các ông đã hủy bỏ lời của Đức Chúa Trời.
7 Ypocritis, Isaie, the prophete, prophesiede wel of you,
Hạng đạo đức giả! Tiên tri Y-sai đã nói về các ông thật đúng:
8 and seide, This puple honourith me with lippis, but her herte is fer fro me;
‘Miệng dân này nói lời tôn kính Ta, nhưng lòng họ cách xa Ta.
9 and thei worschipen me `with outen cause, techynge the doctrines and maundementis of men.
Việc họ thờ phượng Ta thật vô ích, thay vì vâng giữ mệnh lệnh Ta, họ đem dạy luật lệ do họ đặt ra.’”
10 And whanne the puple weren clepid to gidere to hym, he seide to hem, Here ye, and `vndurstonde ye.
Chúa Giê-xu gọi đoàn dân đến dạy bảo: “Anh chị em hãy lắng nghe và cố hiểu lời này:
11 That thing that entrith in to the mouth, defoulith not a man; but that thing that cometh out of the mouth, defoulith a man.
Vật đưa vào miệng không làm con người dơ bẩn; nhưng điều gì ra từ miệng mới làm ô uế con người.”
12 Thanne hise disciplis camen, and seiden to hym, Thou knowist, that, if this word be herd, the Farisees ben sclaundrid?
Các môn đệ thưa: “Lời Thầy vừa nói làm mất lòng phái Pha-ri-si.”
13 And he answeride, and seide, Eueri plauntyng, that my fadir of heuene hath not plauntid, shal be drawun vp by the roote.
Chúa Giê-xu đáp: “Cây nào Cha Ta không trồng sẽ bị nhổ đi.
14 Suffre ye hem; thei ben blynde, and leederis of blynde men. And if a blynd man lede a blynd man, bothe fallen doun in to the diche.
Đừng tiếc làm gì! Họ đã mù quáng, lại ra lãnh đạo đám người mù, nên chỉ đưa nhau xuống hố thẳm.”
15 Petre answeride, and seide to hym, Expowne to vs this parable.
Phi-e-rơ xin Chúa Giê-xu giải nghĩa câu: “Vật vào miệng không làm dơ bẩn con người …”
16 And he seide, Yit `ye ben also with oute vndurstondyng?
Chúa Giê-xu đáp: “Con cũng không hiểu nữa sao?
17 Vndurstonden ye not, that al thing that entrith in to the mouth, goith in to the wombe, and is sent out in to the goyng awei?
Con không biết thức ăn vào miệng, chỉ qua dạ dày, rồi ra khỏi thân thể sao?
18 But tho thingis that comen forth fro the mouth, goon out of the herte, and tho thingis defoulen a man.
Còn lời nói độc ác phát ra từ lòng mới thật sự làm dơ bẩn con người.
19 For of the herte goon out yuele thouytis, mansleyngis, auowtries, fornycaciouns, theftis, fals witnessyngis, blasfemyes.
Vì từ lòng dạ con người sinh ra tư tưởng ác, như giết người, ngoại tình, gian dâm, trộm cắp, dối trá, và phỉ báng.
20 Thes thingis it ben that defoulen a man; but to ete with hondis not waischun, defoulith not a man.
Những thứ ấy mới làm dơ dáy con người. Trái lại, không làm lễ rửa tay trước bữa ăn chẳng làm hoen ố tâm hồn con người đâu.”
21 And Jhesus yede out fro thennus, and wente in to the coostis of Tire and Sidon.
Chúa Giê-xu rời xứ Ga-li-lê đến phía bắc của miền Ty-rơ và Si-đôn.
22 And lo! a womman of Canane yede out of tho coostis, and criede, and seide to him, Lord, the sone of Dauid, haue merci on me; my douyter is yuel traueilid of a feend.
Một phụ nữ Ca-na-an ở vùng đó đến kêu xin: “Lạy Chúa, Con Vua Đa-vít, xin thương xót tôi, vì con gái tôi bị quỷ ám! Quỷ hành hạ nó kinh khiếp lắm!”
23 And he answeride not to hir a word. And hise disciplis camen, and preieden hym, and seiden, Leue thou hir, for she crieth aftir vs.
Chúa Giê-xu không đáp một lời. Các môn đệ thưa: “Xin Thầy bảo bà ấy đi chỗ khác, vì bà kêu la ồn ào quá.”
24 He answeride, and seide, Y am not sent, but to the scheep of the hous of Israel that perischiden.
Chúa Giê-xu quay lại bảo bà: “Ta được sai đến đây để cứu giúp đàn chiên lạc của Đức Chúa Trời—là nhà Ít-ra-ên.”
25 And she cam, and worschipide hym, and seide, Lord, helpe me.
Nhưng bà đến gần Chúa, quỳ lạy cầu khẩn: “Xin Chúa cứu giúp tôi!”
26 Which answeride, and seide, It is not good to take the breed of children, and caste to houndis.
Chúa Giê-xu đáp: “Đâu có thể lấy bánh của con cái đem ném cho chó ăn!”
27 And she seide, Yhis, Lord; for whelpis eten of the crummes, that fallen doun fro the bord of her lordis.
Bà thưa: “Vâng, đúng thế! Nhưng chó chỉ ăn bánh vụn trên bàn chủ rơi xuống!”
28 Thanne Jhesus answeride, and seide to hir, A! womman, thi feith is greet; be it doon to thee, as thou wolt. And hir douytir was helid fro that hour.
Chúa Giê-xu nói với bà: “Bà là người có đức tin lớn. Lời cầu xin của bà đã được chấp thuận.” Ngay lúc đó, con gái bà được lành.
29 And whanne Jhesus hadde passed fro thennus, he cam bisidis the see of Galilee. And he yede vp in to an hil, and sat there.
Chúa Giê-xu đi dọc theo bờ biển Ga-li-lê, lên ngồi trên ngọn đồi.
30 And myche puple cam to hym, and hadden with hem doumbe men and crokid, feble and blynde, and many other; and thei castiden doun hem at hise feet. And he helide hem,
Một đoàn dân đông mang theo người què, người khiếm thị, người câm, người tàn tật, và các bệnh khác đem đặt trước Chúa Giê-xu. Chúa chữa lành tất cả.
31 so that the puple wondriden seynge doumbe men spekynge, and crokid goynge, blynde men seynge; and thei magnyfieden God of Israel.
Thật là một cảnh tượng lạ lùng: Người câm nói, người què đi, người khiếm thị thấy rõ, người bệnh tật được chữa lành. Ai nấy đều ngạc nhiên sững sờ, rồi ngợi tôn Đức Chúa Trời của Ít-ra-ên.
32 And Jhesus, whanne hise disciplis weren clepid to gidere, seide to hem, Y haue reuthe of the puple, for thei han abiden now thre daies with me, and han no thing to ete; and Y wole not leeue hem fastynge, lest thei failen in the weie.
Chúa Giê-xu gọi các môn đệ đến gần bảo: “Ta thương đoàn dân này. Họ ở đây với Ta đã ba ngày, thức ăn đã hết. Ta không muốn để họ nhịn đói ra về, vì có thể bị ngất xỉu giữa đường.”
33 And the disciplis seien to him, Wherof thanne so many looues among vs in desert, to fulfille so greet a puple?
Các môn đệ thưa: “Giữa chỗ hoang vắng, chúng ta tìm bánh đâu cho đủ để đãi đoàn dân đông đảo này?”
34 And Jhesus seide to hem, Hou many looues han ye? And thei seiden, Seuene, and a fewe smale fisshis.
Chúa Giê-xu hỏi: “Các con có bao nhiêu bánh?” Họ đáp: “Thưa, còn bảy ổ bánh và mấy con cá nhỏ.”
35 And he comaundide to the puple, to sitte to mete on the erthe.
Chúa bảo dân chúng ngồi xuống đất.
36 And he took seuene looues and fyue fischis, and dide thankyngis, and brak, and yaf to hise disciplis; and the disciplis yauen to the puple.
Ngài cầm bảy ổ bánh và mấy con cá, tạ ơn Đức Chúa Trời, rồi bẻ ra trao cho môn đệ đem phân phát cho đoàn dân.
37 And alle eten, and weren fulfillid, and thei token that that was left of relifes, seuene lepis fulle.
Sau khi tất cả đều ăn no, người ta lượm thức ăn thừa, đựng đầy bảy giỏ.
38 And thei that eten weren foure thousynde of men, with outen litle children and wymmen.
Số người ăn bánh được 4.000, chưa kể phụ nữ, thiếu nhi.
39 And whanne he hadde left the puple, he wente vp in to a boot, and cam in to the coostis of Magedan.
Chúa Giê-xu cho dân chúng ra về, còn Ngài xuống thuyền đến vùng Ma-ga-đan.
