Luke 9
1 And whanne the twelue apostlis weren clepid togidir, Jhesus yaf to hem vertu and power on alle deuelis, and that thei schulden heele sijknessis.
Jesus reuniu os doze discípulos. Ele lhes deu poder e autoridade para expulsar todos os demônios e a capacidade para curar doenças.
2 And he sente hem for to preche the kyngdom of God, and to heele sijk men.
Em seguida, ele os enviou para anunciar o Reino de Deus e para curar os doentes.
3 And he seide to hem, No thing take ye in the weie, nether yerde, ne scrippe, nether breed, ne money, and nether haue ye two cootis.
Ele lhes disse: “Não levem nada com vocês para a viagem. Nem bengala para se apoiar, nem sacolas, pães, dinheiro, nem mesmo qualquer peça a mais de roupa.
4 And in to what hous that ye entren, dwelle ye there, and go ye not out fro thennus.
Fiquem na casa em que vocês forem recebidos, até irem embora da cidade.
5 And who euer resseyuen not you, go ye out of that citee, and schake ye of the poudir of youre feet in to witnessyng on hem.
Se as pessoas se recusarem a recebê-los, tirem até mesmo o pó daquela cidade que esteja em seus pés. Ao fazer isso, vocês estarão dando um aviso de protesto contra elas.”
6 And thei yeden forth, and wenten aboute bi castels, prechynge and helynge euery where.
Os discípulos saíram e viajaram pelas vilas ao redor, anunciando o evangelho e curando em todos os lugares pelos quais eles passavam.
7 And Eroude tetrak herde alle thingis that weren don of hym, and he doutide,
Herodes, o tetrarca da Galileia, ouviu tudo que estava acontecendo e ficou muito confuso. Algumas pessoas diziam que João Batista havia ressuscitado.
8 for that it was seide of sum men, that Joon was risen fro deth; and of summen, that Elie hadde apperid; but of othere, that oon of the elde prophetis was risun.
Outras diziam que Elias tinha aparecido. Outras, ainda, que um dos antigos profetas havia ressuscitado.
9 And Eroude seide, Y haue biheedid Joon; and who is this, of whom Y here siche thingis? And he souyte to se hym.
Herodes disse: “Não há dúvida, eu decapitei João. Então, quem é esse homem sobre quem ouço todas essas coisas?” E ele tentou pensar em uma maneira de encontrar Jesus.
10 And the apostlis turneden ayen, and tolden to hym alle thingis that thei hadden don. And he took hem, and wente bisidis in to a desert place, that is Bethsada.
Quando os apóstolos retornaram, contaram a Jesus tudo o que tinham feito. Em seguida, Jesus e os apóstolos foram para uma cidade chamada Betsaida.
11 And whanne the puple knewen this, thei folewiden hym. And he resseyuede hem, and spak to hem of the kyngdom of God; and he heelide hem that hadden neede of cure.
No entanto, a multidão descobriu aonde ele estava indo e o seguiu até lá. Jesus deu as boas-vindas para as pessoas, explicou-lhes sobre o Reino de Deus e também curou os que estavam doentes.
12 And the dai bigan to bowe doun, and the twelue camen, and seiden to hym, Leeue the puple, that thei go, and turne in to castels and townes, that ben aboute, that thei fynde mete, for we ben here in a desert place.
Mais tarde, naquele mesmo dia, os doze discípulos se aproximaram de Jesus e disseram: “Senhor, mande as pessoas embora, para que possam ir às vilas e aos sítios que ficam perto daqui, para encontrarem algum lugar para ficar e algo para comer. Este lugar é deserto; não há nada por aqui.”
13 And he seide to hem, Yue ye to hem to ete. And thei seiden, Ther ben not to vs mo than fyue looues and twei fischis, but perauenture that we go, and bie meetis to al this puple.
Jesus lhes disse: “Deem a elas algo para comer.” Eles responderam: “Tudo que nós temos são cinco pães e dois peixes, a não ser que o senhor queira que compremos comida para todos.”
14 And the men weren almost fyue thousynde. And he seide to hise disciplis, Make ye hem sitte to mete bi cumpanyes, a fifti to gidir.
Havia aproximadamente cinco mil homens lá. Ele disse aos discípulos: “Distribuam as pessoas em grupos de cinquenta.”
15 And thei diden so, and thei maden alle men sitte to mete.
Eles fizeram como Jesus falou. Todos foram divididos em grupos e se sentaram.
16 And whanne he hadde take the fyue looues and twei fischis, he biheeld in to heuene, and blesside hem, and brak, and delide to hise disciplis, that thei schulden sette forth bifor the cumpanyes.
Jesus pegou os cinco pães e os dois peixes e, olhando para o céu, abençoou os alimentos e os dividiu. Ele continuava a passar a comida para os discípulos, enquanto eles a distribuíam para as pessoas.
17 And alle men eeten, and weren fulfillid; and that that lefte to hem of brokun metis was takun vp, twelue cofyns.
Todos comeram até ficarem satisfeitos, e os discípulos ainda encheram doze cestos com as sobras.
18 And it was don, whanne he was aloone preiynge, hise disciplis weren with hym, and he axide hem, and seide, Whom seien the puple that Y am?
Em outra ocasião, quando Jesus estava orando com os seus discípulos a sós, ele lhes perguntou: “Quem todas essas pessoas dizem que eu sou?”
19 And thei answeriden, and seiden, Joon Baptist, othir seien Elie, and othir seien, o profete of the formere is risun.
Eles responderam: “Alguns dizem que o senhor é João Batista, enquanto outras dizem que é Elias. E há também outras que dizem que é um dos antigos profetas que ressuscitou.”
20 And he seide to hem, But who seien ye that Y am? Symount Petir answeride, and seide, The Crist of God.
Jesus perguntou novamente: “Mas, e vocês? Quem vocês dizem que eu sou?” Pedro respondeu: “O Messias enviado por Deus.”
21 And he blamynge hem comaundide that thei schulden seie to no man,
Jesus, então, lhes ordenou que não dissessem isso a ninguém.
22 and seide these thingis, For it bihoueth mannus sone to suffre many thingis, and to be repreued of the elder men, and of the princis of prestis, and of scribis, and to be slayn, and the thridde dai to rise ayen.
Ele disse: “O Filho do Homem precisará passar por sofrimentos terríveis. Ele será rejeitado pelos anciãos do povo, pelos chefes dos sacerdotes e pelos educadores religiosos. Será morto, mas no terceiro dia ele ressuscitará.”
23 And he seide to alle, If ony wole come aftir me, denye he hym silf, and take he his cross euery dai, and sue he me.
Ele disse a todos eles: “Se qualquer um de vocês quiser me seguir, deve negar a si mesmo, pegar a sua cruz todos os dias e me seguir.
24 For he that wole make his lijf saaf schal leese it; and he that leesith his lijf for me, schal make it saaf.
Pois se quiserem salvar a sua vida, vocês a perderão; mas se perderem a sua vida por mim, vocês a salvarão.
25 And what profitith it to a man, if he wynne al the world, and leese hymsilf, and do peiryng of him silf.
Qual o benefício em ganhar o mundo todo se, no final, você se perdesse ou fosse destruído?
26 For who so schameth me and my wordis, mannus sone schal schame hym, whanne he cometh in his maieste, and of the fadris, and of the hooli aungels.
Se a pessoa tiver vergonha de mim ou da minha mensagem, o Filho do Homem também se envergonhará dessa pessoa quando vier em sua glória, na glória do Pai e dos santos anjos.
27 And Y seie to you, verily ther ben summe stondynge here, whiche schulen not taste deeth, til thei seen the rewme of God.
Eu lhes digo que isto é verdade: Alguns que estão aqui não morrerão até que vejam o Reino de Deus.”
28 And it was don aftir these wordis almest eiyte daies, and he took Petre and James and Joon, and he stiede in to an hil, to preye.
Mais ou menos oito dias depois de dizer essas coisas, Jesus chamou Pedro, João e Tiago e eles subiram ao monte para orar.
29 And while he preiede, the licnesse of his cheer was chaungid, and his clothing was whit schynynge.
Enquanto Jesus estava orando, seu rosto mudou de aparência e suas roupas ficaram brancas e brilhantes.
30 And lo! two men spaken with hym,
Dois homens apareceram envolvidos por um brilho celestial. Eram Moisés e Elias, que começaram a conversar com Jesus.
31 and Moises and Helie weren seen in maieste; and thei sayn his goyng out, which he schulde fulfille in Jerusalem.
Eles falavam sobre a sua morte que aconteceria em breve em Jerusalém.
32 And Petre, and thei that weren with hym, weren heuy of sleep, and thei wakynge saien his majeste, and the twey men that stoden with hym.
Pedro e os outros tinham pegado no sono. Quando acordaram, viram Jesus envolvido por uma luz divina e os dois homens que estavam próximos a ele.
33 And it was don, whanne thei departiden fro hym, Petir seide to Jhesu, Comaundour, it is good that we be here, and make we here thre tabernaclis, oon to thee, and oon to Moises, and oon to Elie. And he wiste not what he schulde seie.
Quando os dois homens já estavam quase indo embora, Pedro disse a Jesus: “Mestre, é maravilhoso estar aqui. Deixem-nos fazer três tendas: uma para você, outra para Moisés e uma terceira para Elias.” Pedro realmente não sabia o que estava dizendo.
34 But while he spak these thingis, a cloude was maad, and ouerschadewide hem; and thei dredden, whanne thei entriden in to the cloude.
Enquanto ele ainda estava falando, veio uma nuvem e os cobriu. Eles ficaram aterrorizados ao se verem cercados pela nuvem.
35 And a vois was maad out of the cloude, and seide, This is my derworth sone, here ye hym.
Uma voz vinda da nuvem disse: “Este é o meu Filho, o Escolhido. Escutem o que ele diz!”
36 And while the vois was maad, Jhesu was foundun aloone. And thei weren stille, and to no man seiden in tho daies ouyt of tho thingis, that thei hadden seyn.
Quando a voz parou de falar, Jesus já estava sozinho. Eles guardaram o que tinham visto dentro dos seus corações e, naquela época, não disseram nada a ninguém sobre o que haviam visto.
37 But it was doon in the dai suynge, whanne thei camen doun of the hil, myche puple mette hem.
No dia seguinte, quando eles tinham descido do monte, uma grande multidão esperava para encontrar Jesus.
38 And lo! a man of the cumpany criede, and seide, Maister, Y biseche thee, biholde my sone, for Y haue no mo; and lo!
Um homem gritou no meio da multidão: “Mestre, por favor, ajude o meu filho. Ele é o meu único filho!
39 a spirit takith hym, and sudenli he crieth, and hurtlith doun, and to-drawith hym with fome, and vnneth he goith awei al to-drawynge hym.
Ele está possuído por um espírito que, assim que entra nele, faz com que ele grite. Quando está possuído, ele tem convulsões e espuma pela boca. Dificilmente esse espírito deixa o meu filho em paz e o maltrata muito.
40 And Y preiede thi disciplis, that thei schulden caste hym out, and thei myyten not.
Eu implorei aos seus discípulos para expulsarem esse espírito mau, mas eles não conseguiram.”
41 And Jhesus answerde and seide to hem, A! vnfeithful generacioun and weiward, hou long schal Y be at you, and suffre you? brynge hidur thi sone.
Jesus disse: “Gente má e sem fé! Por quanto tempo precisarei ficar aqui entre vocês e suportá-los?” “Traga o seu filho aqui.”
42 And whanne he cam nyy, the deuel hurtlide hym doun, and to-braidide hym. And Jhesus blamyde `the vnclene spirit, and heelide the child, and yeldide him to his fadir.
Até mesmo quando estava se aproximando de Jesus, o demônio fez o garoto ter convulsões, jogando-o ao chão. Jesus repreendeu o espírito mau, curou o garoto e o devolveu ao pai.
43 And alle men wondriden greetli in the gretnesse of God. And whanne alle men wondriden in alle thingis that he dide, he seide to hise disciplis,
Todos ficaram maravilhados com essa demonstração do poder de Deus. Embora todos estivessem admirados com tudo que Jesus fizera, ele avisou aos seus discípulos:
44 Putte ye these wordis in youre hertis, for it is to come, that mannus sone be bitrayed in to the hondis of men.
“Escutem com atenção o que eu vou lhes dizer: está próximo o momento em que o Filho do Homem será entregue nas mãos dos homens.”
45 And thei knewen not this word, and it was hid bifor hem, that thei feeliden it not; and thei dredden to axe hym of this word.
Porém, eles não entenderam o que isso significava. O seu significado tinha sido escondido deles, para que não percebessem as suas consequências, e eles, por sua vez, tinham medo de lhe perguntar a respeito disso.
46 But a thouyt entride in to hem, who of hem schulde be grettest.
Então, começou uma discussão entre os discípulos sobre qual deles era o mais importante.
47 And Jhesu, seynge the thouytis of the herte of hem, took a child, and settide hym bisidis hym;
Jesus, sabendo sobre o que eles discutiam, pegou uma criancinha e a colocou próximo a ele.
48 and seide to hem, Who euer resseyueth this child in my name, resseyueth me; and who euer resseyueth me, resseiueth him that sente me; for he that is leest among you alle, is the grettest.
Depois, ele lhes disse: “Quem aceitar esta criancinha em meu nome também estará me aceitando. E quem me aceitar também estará aceitando aquele que me enviou. Aquele entre vocês que for o mais humilde será o mais importante.”
49 And Joon answeride and seide, Comaundoure, we sayn a man castynge out feendis in thi name, and we han forbedun hym, for he sueth not thee with vs.
João falou: “Senhor, nós vimos uma pessoa que expulsava demônios em seu nome e nós o proibimos de fazer isso, pois ele não faz parte do nosso grupo.”
50 And Jhesus seide to hym, Nyle ye forbede, for he that is not ayens vs, is for vs.
Jesus respondeu: “Não o proíbam. Qualquer um que não for contra vocês está a seu favor.”
51 And it was don, whanne the daies of his takyng vp weren fulfillid, he settide faste his face, to go to Jerusalem,
Como o momento dele subir aos céus se aproximava, Jesus estava determinado a ir para Jerusalém.
52 and sente messangeris bifor his siyt. And thei yeden, and entriden in to a citee of Samaritans, to make redi to hym.
Ele enviou mensageiros a sua frente para uma vila samaritana, para deixar tudo pronto para ele.
53 And thei resseyueden not hym, for the face `was of hym goynge in to Jerusalem.
Mas, as pessoas de lá não o receberam bem, pois perceberam que ele estava indo para Jerusalém.
54 And whanne James and Joon, hise disciplis, seyn, thei seiden, Lord, wolt thou that we seien, that fier come doun fro heuene, and waste hem?
Quando Tiago e João viram isso, disseram: “Senhor, você quer que nós mandemos descer fogo do céu para queimar esta vila?”
55 And he turnede, and blamyde hem, and seide, Ye witen not, whos spiritis ye ben;
Mas, Jesus se virou e reprovou a atitude dos discípulos.
56 for mannus sone cam not to leese mennus soulis, but to saue. And thei wenten in to another castel.
Depois, eles prosseguiram para outra vila.
57 And it was don, whanne thei walkeden in the weie, a man seide to hym, Y schal sue thee, whidur euer thou go.
Enquanto eles caminhavam, um homem disse a Jesus: “Eu o seguirei para onde você for.”
58 And Jhesus seide to hym, Foxis han dennes, and briddis of the eir han nestis, but mannus sone hath not where he reste his heed.
Jesus disse ao homem: “As raposas têm suas tocas, e os pássaros têm os seus ninhos, mas o Filho do Homem não tem nem mesmo um lugar para descansar.”
59 And he seide to another, Sue thou me. And he seide, Lord, suffre me first to go, and birie my fadir.
Então, Jesus disse a outro homem: “Siga-me!” Mas, o homem respondeu: “Senhor, primeiro deixe que eu vá para casa e sepulte o meu pai.”
60 And Jhesus seide to hym, Suffre that deede men birie hir deede men; but go thou, and telle the kyngdom of God.
Jesus respondeu: “Deixe que os mortos sepultem os seus próprios mortos. Vá e anuncie o Reino de Deus.”
61 And another seide, Lord, Y schal sue thee, but first suffre me to leeue `alle thingis that ben at hoom.
Outro homem disse: “Senhor, eu o seguirei! Porém, primeiro deixe-me ir para casa para me despedir da minha família.”
62 And Jhesus seide to hym, No man that puttith his hoond to the plouy, and biholdynge bacward, is able to the rewme of God.
Jesus lhe disse: “Quem começa a arar a terra e depois olha para trás, não serve para o Reino de Deus.”
