Luke 5
1 And it was don, whanne the puple cam fast to Jhesu, to here the word of God, he stood bisidis the pool of Genasereth,
Um dia, Jesus estava parado próximo ao lago de Genesaré, e muitas pessoas se aglomeravam a sua volta para ouvir a palavra de Deus.
2 and saiy two bootis stondynge bisidis the pool; and the fischeris weren go doun, and waischiden her nettis.
Ele notou dois barcos à beira do mar, deixados lá por pescadores que estavam limpando as suas redes.
3 And he wente vp in to a boot, that was Symoundis, and preiede hym to lede it a litil fro the loond; and he seet, and tauyte the puple out of the boot.
Jesus entrou em um dos barcos, o que pertencia a Simão e pediu a ele para empurrar o barco para a água, para que ficasse um pouco afastado da praia. Então, Jesus se sentou e do barco começou a ensinar às pessoas.
4 And as he ceesside to speke, he seide to Symount, Lede thou in to the depthe, and slake youre nettis to take fisch.
Após acabar de falar, ele disse a Simão: “Vá para uma parte do mar em que as águas são mais profundas e jogue as suas redes para pescar!”
5 And Symount answeride, and seide to hym, Comaundoure, we traueliden al the nyyt, and token no thing, but in thi word Y schal leye out the net.
Simão respondeu: “Senhor, nós trabalhamos duro durante toda a noite e não conseguimos pescar nada. Mas, se você diz para que eu faça assim, então, jogarei as redes.”
6 And whanne thei hadden do this thing, thei closiden togidir a greet multitude of fischis; and her net was brokun.
Ao fazer o que Jesus tinha lhe dito, um grande cardume de peixes encheu as redes, e elas ficaram tão cheias que quase arrebentaram.
7 And thei bikenyden to felawis, that weren in anothir boot, that thei schulden come, and helpe hem. And thei camen, and filliden bothe the bootis, so that thei weren almost drenchid.
Eles acenaram para os seus companheiros, que estavam no outro barco, para que eles os ajudassem. Os outros vieram e, juntos, eles encheram os dois barcos com peixes. Os barcos estavam tão cheios, que estavam a ponto de afundar.
8 And whanne Symount Petir saiy this thing, he felde doun to the knees of Jhesu, and seide, Lord, go fro me, for Y am a synful man.
Quando Simão Pedro viu o que estava acontecendo, ele se ajoelhou diante de Jesus e disse: “Por favor, Senhor, afaste-se de mim, pois eu sou um pecador!”
9 For he was on ech side astonyed, and alle that weren with hym, in the takyng of fischis whiche thei token.
Tanto Simão quanto os seus companheiros ficaram completamente espantados com a quantidade de peixes que eles tinham apanhado.
10 Sotheli in lijk maner James and Joon, the sones of Zebedee, that weren felowis of Symount Petre. And Jhesus seide to Symount, Nyle thou drede; now fro this tyme thou schalt take men.
Tiago e João, filhos de Zebedeu, companheiros de Simão, também ficaram admirados. Jesus disse a Simão: “Não tenha medo! De agora em diante, você irá pescar pessoas.”
11 And whanne the bootis weren led vp to the loond, thei leften alle thingis, and thei sueden hym.
Então, eles puxaram os barcos para a praia, deixaram tudo lá e seguiram Jesus.
12 And it was don, whanne he was in oon of the citees, lo! a man ful of lepre; and seynge Jhesu felle doun on his face, and preyede hym, and seide, Lord, if thou wolt, thou maist make me clene.
Certa vez, Jesus visitava uma das cidades, quando ele encontrou um homem que tinha um caso muito grave de lepra. O homem se ajoelhou diante de Jesus, colocando o seu rosto no chão e implorou: “Por favor, se o senhor quiser, pode me purificar!”
13 And Jhesus held forth his hoond, and touchide hym, and seide, Y wole, be thou maad cleene. And anoon the lepre passide awei fro hym.
Jesus estendeu a sua mão e tocou no homem. “Sim, eu quero!”, ele disse. “Você está purificado!” Imediatamente a lepra desapareceu.
14 And Jhesus comaundide to hym, that he schulde seie to no man; But go, schewe thou thee to a preest, and offre for thi clensyng, as Moises bad, in to witnessyng to hem.
Jesus disse ao homem: “Não diga nada a ninguém. Vá e peça ao sacerdote que o examine. Depois faça os sacrifícios cerimoniais como exigido pela lei de Moisés, para provar que você foi curado.”
15 And the word walkide aboute the more of hym; and myche puple camen togidere, to here, and to be heelid of her siknessis.
No entanto, as notícias sobre Jesus se espalhavam ainda mais rapidamente. Grandes multidões se aglomeravam para ouvir Jesus e serem curadas de suas doenças.
16 And he wente in to desert, and preiede.
Mas, muitas vezes, Jesus costumava procurar lugares calmos para orar.
17 And it was don in oon of the daies, he sat, and tauyte; and there weren Farisees sittynge, and doctouris of the lawe, that camen of eche castel of Galilee, and of Judee, and of Jerusalem; and the vertu of the Lord was to heele sike men.
Um dia, quando Jesus estava ensinando, havia fariseus e educadores religiosos vindos da Galileia, Judeia e de Jerusalém sentados próximos a ele. O poder do Senhor estava com Jesus; assim ele conseguia curar os doentes.
18 And lo! men beren in a bed a man that was sijk in the palsye, and thei souyten to bere hym in, and sette bifor hym.
Alguns homens chegaram, carregando um paralítico em uma esteira. Eles estavam tentando levar o doente para colocá-lo diante de Jesus,
19 And thei founden not in what partie thei schulden bere hym in, for the puple, `and thei wenten on the roof, and bi the sclattis thei leeten hym doun with the bed, in to the myddil, bifor Jhesus.
mas não conseguiam abrir caminho entre a multidão. Então, os homens subiram no telhado e fizeram uma abertura entre as telhas. Depois, eles desceram o paralítico, deitado na esteira, no meio da multidão em frente a Jesus.
20 And whanne Jhesu saiy the feith of hem, he seide, Man, thi synnes ben foryouun to thee.
Quando Jesus viu a fé que eles tinham nele, disse ao paralítico: “Os seus pecados estão perdoados!”
21 And the scribis and Farisees bigunnen to thenke, seiynge, Who is this, that spekith blasfemyes? who may foryyue synnes, but God aloone?
Os educadores religiosos e os fariseus começaram a pensar: “Quem é esse homem que blasfema contra Deus? Quem pode perdoar pecados? Apenas Deus pode fazer isso!”
22 And as Jhesus knewe the thouytis of hem, he answeride, and seide to hem, What thenken ye yuele thingis in youre hertes?
Jesus sabia o que eles estavam pensando. Então, ele lhes perguntou: “Por que vocês estão pensando assim?
23 What is liyter to seie, Synnes ben foryouun to thee, or to seie, Rise vp, and walke?
O que é mais fácil? Dizer: ‘Os seus pecados estão perdoados’ ou: ‘Levante-se e ande’?
24 But that ye wite, that mannus sone hath power in erthe to foryyue synnes, he seide to the sijk man in palesie, Y seie to thee, ryse vp, take thi bed, and go in to thin hous.
Contudo, irei mostrar a vocês que o Filho do Homem tem sobre a terra autoridade para perdoar pecados.” Então, ele disse ao paralítico: “Eu lhe digo: Levante-se!, pegue a sua esteira e vá para casa.”
25 And anoon he roos vp bifor hem, and took the bed in which he lay, and wente in to his hous, and magnyfiede God.
Imediatamente, o homem ficou em pé na frente de todos. Ele pegou a esteira em que estava deitado e foi para casa, louvando a Deus, enquanto seguia o seu caminho.
26 And greet wondur took alle, and thei magnyfieden God; and thei weren fulfillid with greet drede, and seiden, For we han seyn merueilouse thingis to dai.
Todos os que estavam lá ficaram completamente espantados com o que havia acontecido e, com grande admiração, louvaram a Deus, dizendo: “O que vimos acontecer hoje foi extraordinário!”
27 And after these thingis Jhesus wente out, and saiy a pupplican, Leuy bi name, sittynge at the tolbothe. And he seide to hym, Sue thou me;
Depois, conforme Jesus estava indo embora da cidade, ele viu um cobrador de impostos, chamado Levi, sentado no lugar em que cobrava os impostos. Jesus lhe disse: “Siga-me!”
28 and whanne he hadde left alle thingis, he roos vp, and suede hym.
Levi se levantou, deixou tudo para trás e seguiu Jesus.
29 And Leuy made to hym a greet feeste in his hous; and ther was a greet cumpanye of pupplicans, and of othere that weren with hem, sittynge at the mete.
Levi organizou um grande banquete em sua casa, em homenagem a Jesus. Muitos cobradores de impostos e outras pessoas também faziam parte da multidão que estava sentada, comendo com eles. Mas, os fariseus e os educadores religiosos reclamaram com os discípulos de Jesus, perguntando:
30 And Farisees and the scribis of hem grutchiden, and seiden to hise disciplis, Whi eten ye and drynken with pupplicans and synful men?
“Por que vocês comem e bebem com os cobradores de impostos e com os pecadores?”
31 And Jhesus answeride, and seide to hem, Thei that ben hoole han no nede to a leche, but thei that ben sijke;
Jesus respondeu: “As pessoas saudáveis não precisam de médico, mas os doentes precisam.
32 for Y cam not to clepe iuste men, but synful men to penaunce.
Eu não vim para chamar os bons. Eu vim chamar os pecadores, para que se arrependam dos seus pecados.”
33 And thei seiden to hym, Whi the disciplis of Joon fasten ofte, and maken preieris, also and of Farisees, but thine eten and drynken?
Eles novamente argumentaram com Jesus: “Bem, os discípulos de João Batista frequentemente jejuam e oram, como também os discípulos dos fariseus. Mas, os seus discípulos não; eles comem e bebem.”
34 To whiche he seide, Whether ye moun make the sones of the spouse to faste, while the spouse is with hem?
Jesus, então, perguntou: “Os padrinhos devem jejuar enquanto o noivo está entre eles?
35 But daies schulen come, whanne the spouse schal be takun a wei fro hem, and thanne thei schulen faste in tho daies.
Não. Mas, chegará o momento em que o noivo irá se afastar deles. Então, os padrinhos poderão jejuar.”
36 And he seide to hem also a liknesse; For no man takith a pece fro a newe cloth, and puttith it in to an oold clothing; ellis bothe he brekith the newe, and the pece of the newe acordith not to the elde.
Depois, Jesus também deu estes exemplos para eles: “Não se deve tirar um retalho de uma roupa nova para arrumar uma roupa velha. Caso contrário, a roupa nova ficará estragada e o retalho da nova não combinará com o tecido da roupa velha.
37 And no man puttith newe wyne in to oolde botels; ellis the newe wyn schal breke the botels, and the wyn schal be sched out, and the botels schulen perische.
Não se deve colocar vinho novo em recipientes de couro velhos. Pois o vinho novo arrebentaria os recipientes. O vinho seria desperdiçado e os recipientes de couro ficariam estragados.
38 But newe wyne owith to be put in to newe botels, and bothe ben kept.
Deve-se colocar vinho novo em recipientes de couro novos.
39 And no man drynkynge the elde, wole anoon the newe; for he seith, The olde is the betere.
E ninguém, após beber vinho velho, quer experimentar o vinho novo, pois eles dizem: ‘O vinho velho é melhor!’”.
