Luke 23
1 And al the multitude of hem arysen, and ledden hym to Pilat.
Todo o conselho superior se levantou e levou Jesus a Pilatos.
2 And thei bigunnen to accuse hym, and seiden, We han foundun this turnynge vpsodoun oure folk, and forbedynge tributis to be youun to the emperour, and seiynge that hym silf is Crist and kyng.
Lá, eles começaram a acusá-lo. Eles disseram: “Nós descobrimos que este homem está enganando a nossa nação. Ele diz para as pessoas não pagarem impostos ao imperador. E também afirma ser o Messias, um rei.”
3 And Pilat axide hym, and seide, Art thou kyng of Jewis? And he answeride, and seide, Thou seist.
Pilatos lhe perguntou: “Você é o Rei dos Judeus?” Jesus respondeu: “É você quem está dizendo isso!”
4 And Pilat seide to the princis of prestis, and to the puple, Y fynde no thing of cause in this man.
Então, Pilatos disse aos chefes dos sacerdotes e à multidão que estava lá: “Eu não acho que este homem seja culpado de qualquer crime!”
5 And thei woxen stronger, and seiden, He moueth the puple, techynge thorou al Judee, bigynnynge fro Galile til hidir.
Mas, eles insistiram, dizendo: “Ele está incentivando a rebelião em toda a Judeia com os seus ensinamentos, desde a Galileia até aqui em Jerusalém.”
6 And Pilat herynge Galile axide, if he were a man of Galile.
Ao ouvir isso, Pilatos perguntou: “Este homem é galileu?”
7 And whanne he knewe that he was of the powere of Eroude, he sente hym to Eroude; which was at Jerusalem in tho daies.
Quando ele soube que Jesus tinha vindo da jurisdição de Herodes, ele o enviou para Herodes que, naquela época, também estava em Jerusalém.
8 And whanne Eroude siy Jhesu, he ioyede ful myche; for long tyme he coueitide to se hym, for he herde many thingis of hym, and hopide to see sum tokene `to be don of hym.
Herodes ficou muito satisfeito em ver Jesus, pois há muito tempo ele queria conhecê-lo. Ele tinha ouvido a respeito de Jesus e tinha esperança de vê-lo realizar um milagre.
9 And he axide hym in many wordis; and he answeride no thing to hym.
Ele fez muitas perguntas a Jesus, mas não ouviu nenhuma resposta a qualquer pergunta que havia feito a ele, pois Jesus se calou.
10 And the princis of preestis and the scribis stoden, stidfastli accusynge hym.
Os chefes dos sacerdotes e os educadores religiosos ficaram lá, acusando-o ferozmente.
11 But Eroude with his oost dispiside hym, and scornede hym, and clothide with a white cloth, and sente hym ayen to Pilat.
Herodes e os seus soldados trataram Jesus com desprezo e zombaram dele. Então, eles colocaram um manto luxuoso nele e o enviaram de volta a Pilatos.
12 And Eroude and Pilat weren maad freendis fro that dai; for bifor thei weren enemyes togidre.
A partir daquele dia, Herodes e Pilatos, que antes eram inimigos, se tornaram amigos.
13 And Pilat clepide togider the princis of prestis and the maiestratis of the puple, and seide to hem,
Pilatos reuniu os chefes dos sacerdotes, as autoridades e o povo
14 Ye han brouyt to me this man, as turnynge awey the puple, and lo! Y axynge bifor you fynde no cause in this man of these thingis, in whiche ye accusen hym;
e lhes disse: “Vocês trouxeram esse homem diante de mim, acusando-o de incentivar as pessoas a se revoltarem. Eu o interroguei com muito cuidado na presença de vocês e não acho que seja culpado das acusações que fazem contra ele.
15 nether Eroude, for he hath sent hym ayen to vs, and lo! no thing worthi of deth is don to hym.
Nem Herodes acha, pois o enviou novamente para nós. Ele não fez nada que exija que seja condenado à morte.
16 And therfor Y schal amende hym, and delyuere hym.
Então, eu mandarei chicoteá-lo e depois o libertarei.”
17 But he moste nede delyuer to hem oon bi the feest dai.
18 And al the puple criede togidir, and seide, Do `awei hym, and delyuer to vs Barabas;
Mas, eles todos gritaram juntos: “Mate esse homem e liberte Barrabás para nós!”
19 which was sent `in to prisoun for disturblyng maad in the cite, and for mansleynge.
(Barrabás foi preso por fazer parte em uma rebelião na cidade e por assassinato.)
20 And eftsoone Pilat spak to hem, and wolde delyuer Jhesu.
Pilatos queria libertar Jesus. Então, falou com eles novamente.
21 And thei vndurcrieden, and seiden, Crucifie, crucifie hym.
Mas, eles continuavam a gritar: “Crucifique-o! Crucifique-o!”
22 And the thridde tyme he seide to hem, For what yuel hath this don? Y fynde no cause of deeth in hym; therfor Y schal chastise hym, and Y schal delyuer.
Pilatos lhes perguntou pela terceira vez: “Mas, por quê? Qual crime ele cometeu? Eu não encontro qualquer motivo para matá-lo. Então, irei mandar chicoteá-lo e depois o libertarei.”
23 And thei contynueden with greet voicis axynge, that he schulde be crucified; and the voicis of hem woxen stronge.
Eles continuaram insistindo com altos gritos, exigindo que ele fosse crucificado. A gritaria deles foi bem sucedida,
24 And Pilat demyde her axyng to be don.
e Pilatos deu a sentença que eles tanto queriam.
25 And he delyueride to hem hym, that for mansleyng and sedicioun was sent in to prisoun, whom thei axiden; but he bitook Jhesu to her wille.
Ele libertou o homem preso por rebelião e assassinato, mas enviou Jesus para ser morto, de acordo com as exigências deles.
26 And whanne thei ledden hym, thei token a man, Symon of Syrenen, comynge fro the toun, and thei leiden on hym the cross to bere aftir Jhesu.
Quando os soldados o levavam embora, eles agarraram um homem chamado Simão, da cidade de Cirene, que estava voltando dos campos. Eles colocaram a cruz nele e o fizeram carregá-la atrás de Jesus.
27 And there suede hym myche puple, and wymmen that weiliden, and bymorneden hym.
Uma grande multidão o seguiu, juntamente com as mulheres, que choravam e se lamentavam por ele.
28 And Jhesus turnede to hem, and seide, Douytris of Jerusalem, nyle ye wepe on me, but wepe ye on youre silf and on youre sones.
Jesus se virou para elas e disse: “Filhas de Jerusalém, não chorem por mim! Chorem por si mesmas e por seus filhos.
29 For lo! daies schulen come, in whiche it schal be seid, Blessid be bareyn wymmen, and wombis that han not borun children, and the tetis that han not youun souke.
Pois está chegando o momento em que eles dirão: ‘Felizes as mulheres que não têm filhos, as que nunca engravidaram e as que não amamentam.’
30 Thanne thei schulen bigynne to seie to mounteyns, Falle ye doun on vs, and to smale hillis, Keuere ye vs.
Eles dirão para os montes: ‘Caiam sobre nós!’; e dirão para as colinas: ‘Cubram-nos!’
31 For if in a greene tre thei don these thingis, what schal be don in a drie?
Pois, se eles fazem isso com a madeira que está verde, imagine o que não farão quando ela estiver seca!”
32 Also othere twei wickid men weren led with hym, to be slayn.
Eles também levaram dois outros criminosos para serem executados com Jesus.
33 And `aftir that thei camen in to a place, that is clepid of Caluerie, there thei crucifieden hym, and the theues, oon on the riyt half, and `the tother on the left half.
Quando chegaram ao lugar chamado Caveira, crucificaram Jesus juntamente com os criminosos. Um deles ficou à direita de Jesus e o outro, a sua esquerda.
34 But Jhesus seide, Fadir, foryyue hem, for thei witen not what thei doon.
Jesus disse: “Pai, por favor, perdoe essas pessoas, pois elas não sabem o que fazem!” Eles dividiram as suas roupas, apostando com os dados para ver quem ficaria com qual peça de roupa.
35 And thei departiden his clothis, and kesten lottis. And the puple stood abidynge; and the princis scorneden hym with hem, and seiden, Othere men he maad saaf; make he hym silf saaf, if this be Crist, the chosun of God.
As pessoas ficaram paradas, olhando, enquanto os líderes ridicularizavam Jesus. Eles disseram: “Ele salvou os outros! Pois então, deixem que ele mesmo se salve, se ele for realmente o Messias de Deus, o Escolhido.”
36 And the knyytis neiyeden, and scorneden hym, and profreden vynegre to hym,
Os soldados também zombaram dele, aproximando-se dele e oferecendo vinagre de vinho, dizendo:
37 and seiden, If thou art king of Jewis, make thee saaf.
“Se você é o Rei dos Judeus, então, salve-se!”
38 And the superscripcioun was writun ouer hym with Greke lettris, and of Latyn, and of Ebreu, This is the kyng of Jewis.
Na cruz, acima da cabeça de Jesus, foi colocada uma placa, que dizia: “Este é o Rei dos Judeus.”
39 And oon of these theues that hangiden, blasfemyde hym, and seide, If thou art Crist, make thi silf saaf and vs.
Um dos criminosos que estava crucificado se juntou ao outros, insultando Jesus. Ele disse: “Você não é o Messias?” “Então, salve a si mesmo e a nós também!”
40 But `the tothir answerynge, blamyde hym, and seide, Nether thou dredist God, that art in the same dampnacioun?
Mas, o outro criminoso discordou e discutiu com ele, dizendo: “Você não teme a Deus mesmo quando está sofrendo a mesma punição?
41 And treuli we iustli, for we han resseiued worthi thingis to werkis; but this dide no thing of yuel.
Para nós, a sentença é justa, pois estamos sendo punidos por algo que realmente fizemos. Mas esse homem não fez nada de errado.”
42 And he seide to Jhesu, Lord, haue mynde of me, whanne thou comest `in to thi kyngdom.
Então, ele disse: “Jesus, por favor, lembre-se de mim quando você entrar em seu Reino!”
43 And Jhesus seide to hym, Treuli Y seie to thee, this dai thou schalt be with me in paradise.
Jesus respondeu: “Eu lhe prometo hoje: você estará comigo no paraíso.”
44 And it was almest the sixte our, and derknessis weren maad in al the erthe `in to the nynthe our.
Neste momento, já era quase meio-dia e toda a terra ficou na escuridão até às três horas da tarde.
45 And the sun was maad derk, and the veile of the temple was to-rent atwo.
A luz do sol se escondeu, e a cortina do Templo rasgou-se em duas partes.
46 And Jhesus criynge with a greet vois, seide, Fadir, in to thin hoondis Y bitake my spirit. And he seiynge these thingis, yaf vp the goost.
Jesus gritou bem alto: “Pai, eu me entrego em suas mãos!” Assim que disse isso, ele respirou pela última vez.
47 And the centurien seynge that thing that was don, glorifiede God, and seide, Verili this man was iust.
Quando o comandante romano viu o que havia acontecido, louvou a Deus e disse: “Certamente, esse homem era inocente!”
48 And al the puple of hem that weren there togidir at this spectacle, and sayn tho thingis that weren don, smyten her brestis, and turneden ayen.
Quando todas as pessoas que tinham vindo para assistir a punição viram o que havia contecido, foram embora, batendo no peito, para demonstrar sua tristeza.
49 But alle his knowun stoden afer, and wymmen that sueden hym fro Galile, seynge these thingis.
Mas, todas as pessoas que conheciam Jesus, incluindo as mulheres que o seguiram desde a Galileia, olhavam a certa distância.
50 And lo! a man, Joseph bi name, of Aramathie, a cite of Judee, that was a decurien, a good man and a iust,
Havia um homem, chamado José, que era bom e honesto. Ele era membro do conselho superior,
51 this man concentide not to the counseil and to the dedis of hem; and he abood the kyngdom of God.
mas não havia concordado com as decisões e as ações tomadas pelos outros membros. Ele era natural da cidade de Arimateia, na região da Judeia, e esperava com ansiedade pelo Reino de Deus.
52 This Joseph cam to Pilat, and axide the bodi of Jhesu,
José foi até Pilatos e lhe pediu o corpo de Jesus.
53 and took it doun, and wlappide it in a cleene lynen cloth, and leide hym in a graue hewun, in which not yit ony man hadde be leid.
Então, ele desceu o corpo de Jesus da cruz e o enrolou num lençol de linho. Ele colocou o corpo de Jesus em um túmulo que nunca tinha sido usado, cavado na rocha.
54 And the dai was the euen of the halidai, and the sabat bigan to schyne.
Aquele era o dia da preparação, e o sábado logo chegaria.
55 And the wymmen suynge, that camen with hym fro Galile, sayn the graue, and hou his bodi was leid.
As mulheres que tinham vindo da Galileia com Jesus seguiram José e viram onde ficava o túmulo em que o corpo de Jesus havia sido colocado.
56 And thei turneden ayen, and maden redi swete smellynge spicis, and oynementis; but in the sabat thei restiden, aftir the comaundement.
Elas voltaram para casa para prepararem perfumes e óleos. Mas, no sábado, elas descansaram, seguindo o mandamento.
