Leviticus 25
1 And the Lord spak to Moises in the hil of Synai,
Et l’Éternel parla à Moïse, sur la montagne de Sinaï, disant:
2 and seide, Speke thou to the sones of Israel, and thou schalt seye to hem, Whanne ye han entrid in to the lond which Y schal yyue to you, `the erthe kepe the sabat of the Lord;
Parle aux fils d’Israël, et dis-leur: Quand vous serez entrés dans le pays que je vous donne, le pays célébrera un sabbat à l’Éternel.
3 sixe yeeris thou schalt sowe thi feeld, and sixe yeeris thou schalt kitte thi vyner, and thou schalt gadere the fruytis ther of;
Pendant six ans tu sèmeras ton champ, et pendant six ans tu tailleras ta vigne, et tu en recueilleras le rapport;
4 forsothe in the seuenthe yeer schal be sabat of the erthe of the restyng of the Lord;
et la septième année, il y aura un sabbat de repos pour le pays, un sabbat [consacré] à l’Éternel: tu ne sèmeras pas ton champ, et tu ne tailleras pas ta vigne.
5 thou schalt not sowe the feeld, and thou schalt not kitte the vyner, thou schalt not repe tho thingis whiche the erthe bryngith forth `bi fre wille, and thou schalt not gadere the grapis of thi firste fruytis, as vyndage; for it is the yeer of restyng of the lond; but tho schulen be to you in to mete,
Tu ne moissonneras pas ce qui vient de soi-même de ta moisson [précédente], et tu ne vendangeras pas les grappes de ta vigne non taillée: ce sera une année de repos pour le pays.
6 to thee, and to thi seruaunt, to thin handmaide, and to thin hirid man, and to the comelyng which is a pilgrym at thee; alle thingis that `comen forth,
Et le sabbat du pays vous servira de nourriture, à toi, et à ton serviteur, et à ta servante, et à ton homme à gages et à ton hôte qui séjournent chez toi,
7 schulen yyue mete to thi werk beestis and smale beestis.
et à ton bétail et aux animaux qui seront dans ton pays: tout son rapport servira de nourriture.
8 Also thou schalt noumbre to thee seuene woukis of yeeris, that is, seuene sithes seuene, whiche togidere maken nyn and fourti yeer;
Et tu compteras sept sabbats d’années, sept fois sept ans; et les jours de ces sept sabbats d’années te feront 49 ans.
9 and thou schalt sowne with a clarioun in the seuenthe monethe, in the tenthe dai of the monethe, in the tyme of propiciacioun, `that is, merci, in al youre lond.
Et, au septième mois, le dixième [jour] du mois, tu feras passer le son bruyant de la trompette; le jour des propitiations, vous ferez passer la trompette par tout votre pays;
10 And thou schalt halewe the fiftithe yeer, and thou schalt clepe remissioun to alle the dwellers of thi lond; for thilke yeer is iubilee; a man schal turne ayen to hys possessioun, and ech man schal go ayen to the firste meynee,
et vous sanctifierez l’année de l’an cinquantième, et vous publierez la liberté dans le pays à tous ses habitants: ce sera pour vous un jubilé; vous retournerez chacun dans sa possession, et vous retournerez chacun à sa famille.
11 for it is iubilee, and the fiftithe yeer. Ye schulen not sowe, nether ye schulen repe thingis, that comen forth freli in the feeld, and ye schulen not gadere the firste fruytis of vyndage, for the halewyng of iubilee;
Cette année de l’an cinquantième sera pour vous un jubilé: vous ne sèmerez pas, et vous ne moissonnerez pas ce qui vient de soi-même, et vous ne vendangerez pas la vigne non taillée;
12 but anoon ye schulen ete thingis takun awey;
car c’est le Jubilé: il vous sera saint; vous mangerez en l’y prenant ce que le champ rapportera.
13 in the yeer of iubilee alle men go ayen to her possessiouns.
En cette année du Jubilé, vous retournerez chacun dans sa possession.
14 Whanne thou schalt sille ony thing to thi citeseyn, ether schalt bie of hym, make thou not sory thi brother, but bi the noumbre of `yeeris of iubile thou schalt bie of him,
Et si vous vendez quelque chose à votre prochain, ou si vous achetez de la main de votre prochain, que nul ne fasse tort à son frère.
15 and bi the rekenyng of fruytis he schal sille to thee.
Tu achèteras de ton prochain d’après le nombre des années depuis le Jubilé; il te vendra d’après le nombre des années de rapport.
16 Bi as myche as mo yeeris dwellen after the iubilee, by so myche also the prijs schal encreesse, and bi as myche as thou noumbrist lesse of tyme, bi so myche and the biyng schal cost lesse; for he schal sille to thee the time of fruytis.
À proportion que le nombre des années sera grand, tu augmenteras le prix; et à proportion que le nombre des années sera petit, tu diminueras le prix, car c’est le nombre des récoltes qu’il te vend.
17 Nyle ye turment men of youre lynagis, but ech man drede his God; for Y am youre Lord God.
Et nul de vous ne fera tort à son prochain, et tu craindras ton Dieu, car moi, je suis l’Éternel, votre Dieu.
18 Do ye my comaundementis, and kepe ye my domes, and fille ye tho, that ye moun dwelle in his lond without ony drede,
Et vous pratiquerez mes statuts, et vous garderez mes ordonnances, et vous les pratiquerez, et ainsi vous habiterez dans le pays en sécurité;
19 and that the erthe brynge forth hise fruytis to you, whiche ye schulen ete `til to fulnesse, and drede not the assailyng of ony man.
et le pays vous donnera son fruit, et vous mangerez à rassasiement, et vous l’habiterez en sécurité.
20 That if ye seien, what schulen we ete in the seuenthe yeer, if we sowen not, nether gaderen oure fruytis?
Et si vous dites: Que mangerons-nous la septième année; voici, nous ne semons pas, et nous ne recueillons pas nos produits?
21 Y schal yyue my blessyng to you in the sixte yeer, and it schal make fruytis of three yeer;
je commanderai que ma bénédiction soit sur vous en la sixième année, et elle donnera le produit de trois ans.
22 and ye schulen sowe in the eiyte yeer, and ye schulen ete elde fruytis `til to the nynthe yeer; til newe thingis comen forth ye schulen ete the elde thingis.
Et vous sèmerez la huitième année et vous mangerez du vieux produit, jusqu’à la neuvième année; jusqu’à ce que son produit soit venu, vous mangerez le vieux.
23 Also the lond schal not be seeld `in to with outen ende, for it is myn, and ye ben my comelyngis and tenauntis;
Et le pays ne se vendra pas à perpétuité, car le pays est à moi; car vous, vous êtes chez moi comme des étrangers et comme des hôtes.
24 wherfor al the cuntre of youre possessioun schal be seeld vndur the condicioun of ayenbiyng.
Et dans tout le pays de votre possession, vous donnerez le droit de rachat pour la terre.
25 If thi brother is maad pore, and sillith his litil possessioun, and his nyy kynesman wole, he may ayenbie that that he seelde;
Si ton frère est devenu pauvre, et vend une partie de sa possession, alors que celui qui a le droit de rachat, son plus proche parent, vienne et rachète la chose vendue par son frère.
26 sotheli if he hath no nyy kynesman, and he may fynde prijs to ayenbie,
Mais si un homme n’a personne qui ait le droit de rachat, et que sa main ait acquis et trouvé suffisamment de quoi faire son rachat,
27 the fruytis schulen be rekynyd fro that tyme in which he seelde, and he schal yelde `that that is residue to the biere, and he schal resseyue so his possessioun.
il comptera les années depuis sa vente, et restituera le surplus à celui à qui il avait vendu, et il retournera dans sa possession.
28 That if his hond fynde not, that he yelde the prijs, the biere schal haue that that he bouyte, `til to the yeer of iubilee; for in that yeer ech sillyng schal go ayen to the lord, and to the firste weldere.
Et si sa main n’a pas trouvé suffisamment de quoi lui rendre, la chose vendue restera en la main de celui qui l’aura achetée, jusqu’à l’année du Jubilé: la chose vendue sera libérée au Jubilé, et [le vendeur] rentrera dans sa possession.
29 He that sillith his hows, with ynne the wallis of a citee, schal haue licence to ayenbie til o yeer be fillid;
Et si quelqu’un a vendu une maison d’habitation dans une ville murée, il aura son droit de rachat jusqu’à la fin de l’année de sa vente: son droit de rachat subsistera une année entière;
30 if he ayenbieth not, and the sercle of the yeer is passid, the biere schal welde it, and his eiris `in to with outen ende, and it schal not mow be ayenbouyt, ye, in the iubilee.
mais si elle n’est pas rachetée avant que l’année entière soit accomplie, la maison qui est dans la ville murée restera définitivement à l’acheteur, en ses générations; elle ne sera pas libérée au Jubilé.
31 Forsothe if the hows is in a town `that hath not wallis, it schal be seeld bi the lawe of feeldis; sotheli if it is not ayenbouyt in the iubilee, it schal turne ayen to `his lord.
Mais les maisons des villages qui n’ont pas de murs tout autour, seront considérées comme des champs du pays; il y aura droit de rachat pour elles, et elles seront libérées au Jubilé.
32 The howsis of dekenes, that ben in citees, moun euer be ayenbouyt; if tho ben not ayenbouyt,
Et quant aux villes des Lévites et aux maisons des villes de leur possession, les Lévites auront un droit perpétuel de rachat.
33 tho schulen turne ayen in the iubilee `to the lordis; for the `howsis of the citees of dekenes ben for possessiouns among the sones of Israel;
Et si quelqu’un a racheté d’un des Lévites, la maison vendue dans la ville de sa possession sera libérée au Jubilé; car les maisons des villes des Lévites sont leur possession au milieu des fils d’Israël.
34 forsothe the suburbabis of hem schulen not be seeld, for it is euerlastynge possessioun.
Et les champs des banlieues de leurs villes ne seront pas vendus, car c’est leur possession à perpétuité.
35 If thi brother is maad pore, and feble in power, and thou resseyuest hym as a comelyng and pilgrym, and he lyueth with thee,
Et si ton frère est devenu pauvre, et que sa main devienne tremblante à côté de toi, tu le soutiendras, étranger ou hôte, afin qu’il vive à côté de toi.
36 take thou not vsuris of hym, nether more than thou hast youe; drede thou thi God, that thi brothir mai lyue anentis thee.
Tu ne prendras de lui ni intérêt ni usure; et tu craindras ton Dieu, afin que ton frère vive à côté de toi.
37 Thou schalt not yyue to hym thi money to vsure, and thou schalt not axe ouer `aboundaunce, ether encrees ouer of fruytis;
Tu ne lui donneras pas ton argent à intérêt, et tu ne lui donneras pas tes vivres à usure.
38 Y am youre Lord God, that ladde you out of the lond of Egipt, that Y schulde yyue to you the lond of Canaan, and that Y schulde be youre God.
Moi, je suis l’Éternel, votre Dieu, qui vous ai fait sortir du pays d’Égypte pour vous donner le pays de Canaan, pour être votre Dieu.
39 If thi brother compellid bi pouert sillith hym silf to thee, thou schalt not oppresse hym bi seruage of seruauntis,
Et si ton frère est devenu pauvre à côté de toi, et qu’il se vende à toi, tu ne lui feras pas faire un service d’esclave;
40 but he schal be as an hirid man and tenaunt; `til to the yeer of iubilee he schal worche at thee,
il sera avec toi comme un homme à gages et un hôte; il te servira jusqu’à l’année du Jubilé:
41 and aftirward he schal go out with his fre children, and he schal turne ayen to the kynrede, and to `the possessioun of his fadris.
alors il sortira de chez toi, lui et ses fils avec lui, et il retournera à sa famille, et retournera dans la possession de ses pères.
42 For thei ben my seruauntis, and Y ledde hem out of the lond of Egipt; thei schulen not be seeld bi the condicioun of seruauntis;
Car ils sont mes serviteurs, que j’ai fait sortir du pays d’Égypte; ils ne seront pas vendus comme on vend les esclaves.
43 turmente thou not hem bi thi power, but drede thou thi Lord.
Tu ne domineras pas sur lui avec dureté, et tu craindras ton Dieu.
44 A seruaunt and handmaide be to you of naciouns that ben in youre cumpas,
Mais quant à ton serviteur et à ta servante qui seront à toi, … d’entre les nations qui vous environnent, de ceux-là, vous achèterez des serviteurs et des servantes.
45 and of comelyngis that ben pilgrimys at you, ether thei that ben borun of hem in youre lond; ye schulen haue these seruauntis,
Et vous en achèterez aussi des fils des étrangers qui séjournent chez vous, et de leurs familles qui sont avec vous, qu’ils engendreront dans votre pays; et ils seront votre possession.
46 and bi riyt of eritage ye schulen `sende ouer to aftir comeris, and ye schulen welde with outen ende; sothely oppresse ye not bi power youre britheren, the sones of Israel.
Et vous les laisserez en héritage à vos fils après vous, pour qu’ils en aient la possession; vous vous servirez d’eux à toujours; mais quant à vos frères, les fils d’Israël, un homme ne dominera pas avec dureté sur son frère.
47 If the hond of a comelyng and of a pilgrim wexith strong at you, and thi brother is maad pore, and sillith hym silf to hym,
Et si un étranger ou un homme qui séjourne chez toi s’est enrichi, et que ton frère qui est à côté de lui soit devenu pauvre et se soit vendu à l’étranger qui séjourne chez toi, ou à un homme issu de la famille de l’étranger,
48 ether to ony of his kyn, he may be ayenbouyt aftir the sillyng; he that wole of hise britheren, ayenbie hym; bothe `the brother of fadir,
– après qu’il se sera vendu, il y aura pour lui droit de rachat; un de ses frères le rachètera;
49 and the sone of `the fadris brother, and kynesman, and alye. Ellis if also he schal mow, he schal ayenbie hym silf,
ou son oncle, ou le fils de son oncle le rachètera; ou quelque proche parent de sa famille le rachètera; ou si sa main y peut atteindre, il se rachètera lui-même.
50 while the yeeris ben rykenid oneli fro the tyme of his sillyng `til in to the yeer of iubylee; and while the money, for which he was seeld, is rikenyd bi the noumbre of yeeris, and while the hire of an hirid man is rikenyd.
Et il comptera avec celui qui l’a acheté, depuis l’année où il s’est vendu à lui jusqu’à l’année du Jubilé; et l’argent de son prix sera à raison du nombre des années; il sera chez son maître selon les journées d’un homme à gages.
51 If mo yeeris ben that dwellen `til to the iubilee, bi these yeeris he schal yelde also the prijs; if fewe yeeris ben,
S’il y a encore beaucoup d’années, il restituera le prix de son rachat à raison de celles-ci, sur le prix pour lequel il aura été acheté;
52 he schal sette rikenyng with hym bi the noumbre of yeeris;
et s’il reste peu d’années jusqu’à l’année du Jubilé, il comptera avec lui; à raison du nombre des années, il restituera le prix de son rachat.
53 and he schal yeelde to the biere that that is residue of yeeris, while tho yeeris, bi whiche he seruyde bifore, ben rikenyd for hiris; he schal not turmente `that Ebreu violentli in thi siyt.
Il sera chez lui comme un homme à gages, d’année en année; le maître ne dominera pas sur lui avec dureté devant tes yeux.
54 That if he may not be ayenbouyt bi this, he schal go out with his free children in the `yeer of iubilee; for the sones of Israel ben myn seruauntis,
Et s’il n’est pas racheté par un de ces moyens, il sortira l’année du Jubilé, lui et ses fils avec lui.
55 whiche Y ledde out of the lond of Egipt.
Car les fils d’Israël me sont serviteurs; ils sont mes serviteurs que j’ai fait sortir du pays d’Égypte. Moi, je suis l’Éternel, votre Dieu.
