Leviticus 24
1 And the Lord spak to Moises, and seide, Comaunde thou to the sones of Israel,
Le Seigneur parla encore à Moïse, disant:
2 that thei brynge to thee oile of olyues, pureste oile, and briyt, to the lanternes to be ordeyned contynueli with out the veil of witnessyng,
Ordonne aux enfants d’Israël qu’ils t’apportent de l’huile d’olives très pure et très claire pour entretenir des lampes perpétuellement,
3 in the tabernacle of boond of pees; and Aaron schal araye tho lanternes fro euentid `til to euentid bifor the Lord, bi religioun and custom euerlastynge in youre generaciouns;
En dehors du voile de témoignage dans le tabernacle d’alliance. Et Aaron les disposera depuis le soir jusqu’au matin devant le Seigneur par un culte et un rite perpétuel en vos générations.
4 tho schulen be set euere on a clenneste candilstike in the siyt of the Lord.
C’est sur le chandelier très pur qu’elles seront toujours placées en la présence du Seigneur.
5 Also thou schalt take wheete flour, and thou schalt bake therof twelue looues, which schulen haue ech bi hem silf twei tenthe partis,
Tu prendras aussi de la fleur de farine, et tu cuiras avec elle douze pains qui auront chacun deux décimes;
6 of whiche thou schalt sette sexe on euer eithir side, on a clenneste boord bifor the Lord;
Tu en placeras six des deux côtés sur la table très pure devant le Seigneur;
7 and thou schalt sette clereste encense on tho looues, that the looues be in to mynde of offryng of the Lord;
Et tu mettras sur eux de l’encens le plus luisant, afin que le pain soit un monument de l’oblation du Seigneur.
8 bi ech sabat tho schulen be chaungid bifor the Lord, and schulen be takun of the sones of Israel bi euerlastynge boond of pees;
À chaque sabbat, ils seront changés devant le Seigneur, après qu’ils auront été reçus des enfants d’Israël, par une alliance perpétuelle;
9 and tho schulen be Aarons and hise sones, that thei ete tho in the hooli place, for it is hooli of the noumbre of hooli thingis, of the sacrifices of the Lord, bi euerlastynge lawe.
Et ils appartiendront à Aaron et à ses fils, afin qu’ils les mangent dans un lieu saint, parce que c’est une chose très sainte des sacrifices du Seigneur en vertu d’un droit perpétuel.
10 Lo! forsothe the sone of a womman of Israel, whom sche childide of a man Egipcian, yede out among the sones of Israel, and chidde in the castels with a man of Israel,
Or voilà que le fils d’une femme israélite qu’elle avait eu d’un Egyptien parmi les enfants d’Israël, étant sorti, eut une querelle dans le camp avec un Israélite.
11 and whanne he hadde blasfemyd the name of the Lord, and hadde cursid the Lord, he was brouyt to Moises; forsothe his modir was clepid Salumyth, the douytir of Dabry, of the lynage of Dan;
Et comme il blasphéma le nom de Dieu et le maudit, il fut conduit à Moïse (or sa mère s’appelait Salumith, fille de Dabri, de la tribu de Dan);
12 and thei senten hym to prisoun, til thei wisten what the Lord comaundide.
Et on le mit en prison, jusqu’à ce qu’on sût ce que commanderait le Seigneur.
13 And the Lord spak to Moises and seide,
Le Seigneur parla à Moïse,
14 Lede out the blasfemere without the castels, and alle men that herden, sette her hondis on his heed, and al the puple stone hym.
Disant: Fais sortir hors du camp le blasphémateur; que tous ceux qui l’ont entendu mettent leurs mains sur sa tête, et que tout le peuple le lapide.
15 And thou schalt speke to the sones of Israel, A man that cursith his God,
Et aux enfants d’Israël tu diras: Un homme qui maudira son Dieu, portera son péché;
16 schal bere his synne, and he that blasfemeth the name of the Lord, die bi deeth; al the multitude of the puple schal oppresse hym with stoonus, whether he that blasfemede the name of the Lord is a citeseyn, whether a pilgrym, die he bi deeth.
Et que celui qui blasphémera le nom du Seigneur, meure de mort; toute la multitude le lapidera, soit qu’il soit citoyen ou étranger. Que celui qui blasphème le nom du Seigneur meure de mort.
17 He that smytith and sleeth a man, die bi deeth;
Que celui qui frappe et tue un homme, meure de mort.
18 he that smytith a beeste, yelde oon in his stide, that is, lijf for lijf.
Celui qui tuera un animal, en rendra un autre à sa place, c’est-à-dire, âme pour âme.
19 If a man yyueth a wem to ony of hise citeseyns, as he dide, so be it don to him;
Celui qui fera un outrage à quelqu’un de ses concitoyens, comme il aura fait, ainsi il lui sera fait:
20 he schal restore brekyng for brekyng, iye for iye, tooth for tooth; what maner wem he yaf, he schal be compellid to suffre sich a wem.
Il rendra fracture pour fracture, œil pour œil, dent pour dent. Quelque outrage qu’il ait fait, il sera obligé de le souffrir.
21 He that smytith werk beeste, yeelde another; he that smytith a man, schal be punyschid.
Celui qui frappera une bête, en rendra une autre. Celui qui frappera un homme, sera puni.
22 Euene doom be among you, whether a pilgrym ethir a citeseyn synneth, for Y am youre Lord God.
Qu’il y ait un jugement équitable parmi vous, que ce soit un étranger, ou un citoyen qui ait péché, parce que je suis le Seigneur votre Dieu.
23 And Moyses spak to the sones of Israel, and thei brouyten forth out of the castels hym that blasfemede, and oppressiden with stoonus. And the sones of Israel diden, as the Lord comaundide to Moyses.
Moïse parla donc aux enfants d’Israël, et ils firent sortir celui qui avait blasphémé hors du camp, et ils le lapidèrent. Et les enfants d’Israël firent comme avait ordonné le Seigneur à Moïse.
