Leviticus 19
1 The Lord spak to Moises, and seide,
Yahvé parla à Moïse et dit:
2 Speke thou to al the cumpenye of the sones of Israel, and thou schalt seie to hem, Be ye hooli, for Y am hooli, youre Lord God.
Parle à toute l'assemblée des enfants d'Israël, et dis-leur: « Vous serez saints, car moi, Yahvé votre Dieu, je suis saint ».
3 Ech man drede his fadir and his modir. Kepe ye my sabatis; Y am youre Lord God.
"'Chacun de vous respectera sa mère et son père. Vous observerez mes sabbats. Je suis Yahvé ton Dieu.
4 Nyle ye be turned to ydols, nether ye schulen make to you yotun goddis; Y am youre Lord God.
"'Ne vous tournez pas vers les idoles et ne vous faites pas de dieux en fonte. Je suis Yahvé, votre Dieu.
5 If ye offren a sacrifice of pesible thingis to the Lord, that it be quemeful,
"'Lorsque tu offriras un sacrifice de paix à Yahvé, tu l'offriras pour qu'il soit agréé.
6 ye schulen ete it in that day, in which it is offrid, and in the tother dai; sotheli what euer thing is residue in to the thridde dai, ye schulen brenne in fier.
Il sera mangé le jour même où tu l'offriras et le jour suivant. S'il reste quelque chose jusqu'au troisième jour, on le brûlera au feu.
7 If ony man etith therof aftir twei daes, he schal be vnhooli, and gilti of vnfeithfulnes `ether wickidnesse; and he schal bere his wickidnesse,
Si l'on en mange le troisième jour, c'est une abomination. Elle ne sera pas acceptée;
8 for he defoulide the hooli thing of the Lord, and his soule schal perische fro his puple.
mais quiconque en mangera portera la peine de sa faute, car il a profané la chose sainte de l'Éternel, et cette personne sera retranchée de son peuple.
9 Whanne thou schalt repe the fruytis of thi lond, thou schalt not kitte `til to the ground the corn of the lond, nether thou schalt gadere the eeris of corn that ben left;
"'Quand tu feras la moisson de ton pays, tu ne moissonneras pas entièrement les coins de ton champ, et tu ne ramasseras pas les glanes de ta moisson.
10 nethir in thi vyner thou schalt gadere reysyns and greynes fallynge doun, but thou schalt leeue to be gaderid of pore men and pilgryms; Y am youre Lord God.
Tu ne glaneras pas ta vigne, et tu ne ramasseras pas les raisins tombés de ta vigne. Tu les laisseras aux pauvres et à l'étranger. Je suis Yahvé ton Dieu.
11 Ye schulen not do thefte. Ye schulen not lye, and no man disseyue his neiybour.
"'Tu ne voleras pas. "'Tu ne mentiras pas. "'Vous ne vous tromperez pas les uns les autres.
12 Thou schalt not forswere in my name, nethir thou schalt defoule the name of thi God; Y am the Lord.
"'Tu ne jureras pas faussement par mon nom et tu ne profaneras pas le nom de ton Dieu. Je suis Yahvé.
13 Thou schalt not make fals chalenge to thi neiybore, nethir thou schalt oppresse hym bi violence. The werk of thin hirid man schal not dwelle at thee til the morewtid.
"'Tu n'opprimeras pas ton prochain et tu ne le dépouilleras pas. "'Le salaire d'un mercenaire ne doit pas rester chez toi toute la nuit jusqu'au matin.
14 Thou schalt not curse a deef man, nether thou schalt sette an hurtyng bifor a blynd man; but thou schalt drede thi Lord God, for Y am the Lord.
"'Tu ne maudiras pas le sourd et tu ne mettras pas de pierre d'achoppement devant l'aveugle, mais tu craindras ton Dieu. Je suis Yahvé.
15 Thou schalt not do that, that is wickid, nether thou schalt deme vniustli; biholde thou not the persoone of a pore man, nethir onoure thou the face of a myyti man; deme thou iustli to thi neiybore.
"'Tu ne commettras pas d'injustice dans ton jugement. Tu ne seras pas partial envers le pauvre et tu ne feras pas preuve de favoritisme envers le grand, mais tu jugeras ton prochain avec droiture.
16 Thou schalt not be a sclaunderere, nether a priuey bacbitere in the puplis; thou schalt not stonde ayens the blood of thi neiybore; Y am the Lord.
"'Tu ne seras pas un calomniateur parmi ton peuple. "'Tu ne mettras pas en danger la vie de ton prochain. Je suis Yahvé.
17 Thou schalt not hate thi brothir in thin herte, but repreue hym opynly, lest thou haue synne on hym.
"'Tu ne haïras pas ton frère dans ton cœur. Tu réprimanderas ton prochain, et tu ne porteras pas de péché à cause de lui.
18 Thou schalt not seke veniaunce, nether thou schalt be myndeful of the wrong of thi cyteseyns; thou schalt loue thi freend as thi silf; Y am the Lord.
"'Tu ne te vengeras pas et tu ne garderas pas rancune aux enfants de ton peuple, mais tu aimeras ton prochain comme toi-même. Je suis Yahvé.
19 Kepe ye my lawis. Thou schalt not make thi beestis to gendre with the lyuynge beestis of another kynde. Thou schalt not sowe the feeld with dyuerse sede. Thou schalt not be clothid in a cloth, which is wouun of twei thingis.
"'Vous observerez mes lois. "'Tu ne feras pas de croisement entre différentes espèces d'animaux. "'Tu ne sèmeras pas ton champ avec deux sortes de semences; "'Ne portez pas un vêtement fait de deux sortes d'étoffes.
20 If a man slepith with a womman by fleischly knowyng of seed, which womman is an `hand maide, ye, a noble womman of kyn, and netheles is not ayenbouyt bi prijs, nethir rewardid with fredom, bothe schulen be betun, and thei schulen not die, for sche was not fre.
"'Si un homme couche charnellement avec une femme qui est une esclave, promise en mariage à un autre homme, et qui n'a pas été rachetée ou libérée, ils seront punis. Ils ne seront pas mis à mort, parce qu'elle n'était pas libre.
21 Sotheli the man for his trespas schal offre a ram to the Lord, at the dore of the tabernacle of witnessyng;
Il apportera son sacrifice de culpabilité à Yahvé, à l'entrée de la tente d'assignation, un bélier en sacrifice de culpabilité.
22 and the preest schal preye for hym, and for his trespas, bifor the Lord; and the Lord schal be merciful to hym, and the synne schal be foryouun.
Le prêtre fera pour lui l'expiation avec le bélier du sacrifice de culpabilité devant Yahvé, pour le péché qu'il a commis; et le péché qu'il a commis lui sera pardonné.
23 Whanne ye han entrid in to the lond of biheest, and han plauntid therynne appil trees, ye schulen do awei the firste flouris; the applis whiche tho trees bryngen forth, schulen be vncleene to you, nethir ye schulen ete of tho.
"'Quand tu seras entré dans le pays et que tu auras planté toutes sortes d'arbres pour te nourrir, tu compteras leur fruit comme interdit. Pendant trois ans, il te sera interdit. Vous n'en mangerez pas.
24 Forsothe in the fourthe yeer al the fruyt of tho trees schal be `halewid preiseful to the Lord;
Mais la quatrième année, tous ses fruits seront saints, pour louer l'Éternel.
25 forsothe in the fifthe yeer ye schulen ete fruytis, and schulen gadere applis, whiche tho trees bryngen forth; Y am youre Lord God.
La cinquième année, vous mangerez de ses fruits, afin qu'elle vous donne ses produits. Je suis Yahvé, ton Dieu.
26 Ye schulen not ete fleisch with blood. Ye schulen not make veyn diuynyng, nether ye schulen kepe dremes;
"'Tu ne mangeras pas de viande dont le sang est encore présent. Tu n'utiliseras pas d'enchantements et tu ne pratiqueras pas la sorcellerie.
27 nether ye schulen clippe the heer in round, nether ye schulen schaue the beerd;
"'Tu ne couperas pas les cheveux sur les côtés de ta tête et tu ne couperas pas le bord de ta barbe.
28 and on deed men ye schulen not kitte youre fleischis, nether ye schulen make to you ony fyguris, ether markis in youre fleisch; Y am the Lord.
"'Tu ne feras pas d'incisions dans ta chair pour les morts, et tu ne te tatoueras pas de marques. Je suis Yahvé.
29 Sette thou not thi douytir to do leccherie for hire, and the lond be defoulid, and be fillid with synne.
"'Ne profane pas ta fille pour en faire une prostituée, de peur que le pays ne tombe dans la prostitution et que le pays ne se remplisse de méchanceté.
30 Kepe ye my sabatis, and drede ye my seyntuarie; Y `am the Lord.
"'Tu observeras mes sabbats et tu révéreras mon sanctuaire; je suis Yahvé.
31 Bowe ye not to astronomyers, nether axe ye ony thing of fals dyuynours, that ye be defoulid bi hem; Y am youre Lord God.
"'Ne vous tournez pas vers ceux qui sont médiums, ni vers les sorciers. Ne les recherchez pas pour vous souiller avec eux. Je suis Yahvé ton Dieu.
32 Rise thou bifor an hoor heed, and onoure thou the persoone of an eld man, and drede thou thi Lord God; Y am the Lord.
"'Tu te lèveras devant la tête grise et tu honoreras le visage des vieillards, et tu craindras ton Dieu. Je suis Yahvé.
33 If a comelyng enhabitith in youre lond, and dwellith among you, dispise ye not hym,
"'Si un étranger vit avec vous comme un étranger dans votre pays, vous ne lui ferez pas de mal.
34 but be he among you as a man borun in the lond; and ye schulen loue hym as you silf, for also ye weren comelyngis in the lond of Egipt; Y am youre Lord God.
L'étranger qui vit avec toi comme un étranger sera pour toi comme le natif d'entre vous, et tu l'aimeras comme toi-même, car vous avez vécu comme des étrangers au pays d'Égypte. Je suis Yahvé ton Dieu.
35 Nyle ye do ony wickid thing in doom, in reule, in weiyte, and in mesure; the balance be iust,
"'Tu ne commettras pas d'injustice dans le jugement, dans les mesures de longueur, de poids ou de quantité.
36 and the weiytis be euene, the buschel be iust, and the sextarie be euene; Y am youre Lord God, that ladde you out of the lond of Egipt.
Tu auras des balances justes, des poids justes, un épha juste et un hin juste. Je suis Yahvé ton Dieu, qui t'a fait sortir du pays d'Égypte.
37 Kepe ye alle myn heestis, and alle domes, and do ye tho; Y am the Lord.
"'Vous observerez toutes mes lois et toutes mes ordonnances, et vous les mettrez en pratique. Je suis Yahvé. »
