Leviticus 16
1 And the Lord spak to Moises, aftir the deeth of the twei sones of Aaron, whanne thei offriden alien fier, and weren slayn, and comaundide to hym,
Sau cái chết của hai con trai A-rôn trước mặt Chúa Hằng Hữu, Chúa Hằng Hữu phán bảo Môi-se:
2 and seide, Speke thou to Aaron, thi brother, that he entre not in al tyme in to the seyntuarie, which is with ynne the veil bifor the propiciatorie, bi which the arke is hilid, that he die not; for Y schal appere in a cloude on Goddis answeryng place;
“Hãy dặn A-rôn, anh con rằng không phải bất cứ lúc nào cũng có thể vào Nơi Chí Thánh, bên trong bức màn, trước nắp chuộc tội trên Hòm được. Nếu bất tuân sẽ chết, vì Ta hiện diện trong đám mây bên trên nắp chuộc tội.
3 `no but he do these thingis bifore. He schal offer a calf for synne, and a ram in to brent sacrifice;
Nhưng mỗi khi vào nơi thánh, A-rôn phải đem theo một con bò đực con dâng làm tế lễ chuộc tội, và một con chiên đực dâng làm tế lễ thiêu.
4 he schal be clothid with a lynnun coote, he schal hide the schamefast membris with pryuy lynnun clothis; he schal be gird with a lynnun girdil, he schal putte a lynnun mytre on his heed; for these clothis ben hooli, with whiche alle he schal be clothid, whanne he is waischun.
A-rôn cũng phải tắm sạch sẽ, mặc áo dài thánh và quần ngắn, thắt lưng, đội khăn, các thứ này toàn bằng vải gai.
5 And he schal take of al the multitude of the sones of Israel twei kidis for synne, and o ram in to brent sacrifice;
Người Ít-ra-ên cũng phải đem cho A-rôn hai con dê đực để dâng làm tế lễ chuộc tội, một con chiên dâng làm tế lễ thiêu.
6 and whanne he offrith a calf, and preieth for hym,
A-rôn phải dâng con bò đực làm tế lễ chuộc tội cho chính mình và cho nhà mình.
7 and for his hows, he schal make twei `buckis of geet to stonde bifor the Lord, in the dore of the tabernacle of witnessyng;
Sau đó, người sẽ đem hai con dê đực đến cửa Đền Tạm, trước mặt Chúa Hằng Hữu.
8 and he schal sende `on euer eithir, o lot to the Lord, and another lot to the goot that schal be sent out.
Người sẽ rút thăm xem con dê nào thuộc về Chúa Hằng Hữu, con nào thuộc về A-xa-sên.
9 Whos lot goith out to the Lord, he schal offre it for synne;
Con dê rút thăm về phần Chúa Hằng Hữu sẽ được A-rôn dâng lên Ngài để làm sinh tế chuộc tội.
10 sotheli whos lot goith out in to goot that schal be sent out, he schal sette hym quyk bifor the Lord, that he sende preyers `on hym, and sende hym out in to wildirnesse.
Còn con dê rút thăm để gánh tội sẽ được A-rôn đem trình lên Chúa Hằng Hữu, còn sống, để chuộc tội. Sau đó, nó sẽ được thả vào hoang mạc, mang theo tội của dân.
11 Whanne these thingis ben doon riytfuli, he schal offre the calf, and `he schal preye for hym silf, and for his hows, and schal offre the calf.
Sau khi dâng con bò đực làm lễ chuộc tội cho chính mình và nhà mình,
12 And whanne he hath take the censeer, which he hath fillid of the coolis of the auter, and `he hath take in hond the `swete smellynge spicery maad into encense, he schal entre ouer the veil in to the hooli thingis;
A-rôn sẽ gắp than cháy đỏ trên bàn thờ, trước mặt Chúa Hằng Hữu, bỏ đầy lư hương, rồi bốc hương bột đầy tay, đem vào bên trong bức màn.
13 that whanne swete smellynge spiceries ben put on the fier, the cloude and `vapour of tho hile Goddis answeryng place, which is on the witnessyng, and he die not.
Ở đó, A-rôn bỏ hương lên trên than đang cháy trước mặt Chúa Hằng Hữu, để khói hương xông lên phủ kín nắp chuộc tội trên Hòm Giao Ước, như vậy A-rôn mới khỏi chết.
14 Also he schal take of the `blood of the calf, and he schal sprenge seuensithis with the fyngur ayens `the propiciatorie, `to the eest.
A-rôn sẽ lấy một ít máu bò đực, dùng ngón tay rảy lên đầu hướng về phía đông của nắp chuộc tội, rồi rảy phía trước nắp này bảy lần.
15 And whanne he hath slayn the `buk of geet, for synne of the puple, he schal brynge in the blood therof with ynne the veil, as it is comaundid of the `blood of the calf, that he sprynge euene ayens Goddis answeryng place,
Sau đó, A-rôn giết con dê đực làm lễ chuộc tội cho dân, đem máu vào trong màn, rảy bên trên và phía trước nắp chuộc tội như đã rảy máu bò đực trước đây.
16 and he schal clense the seyntuarie fro vnclennessis of the sones of Israel, and fro her trespassyngis, and alle synnes. Bi this custom he schal do in the tabernacle of witnessyng, which is set among hem, in the myddis of partis of the abitacioun `of hem.
Như vậy, người làm lễ chuộc tội cho Nơi Chí Thánh đã bị tội lỗi của người Ít-ra-ên làm cho ô uế; người cũng chuộc tội cho Đền Tạm, vì đền ở ngay giữa quần chúng không sạch.
17 No man be in the tabernacle, whanne the bischop schal entre in to the seyntuarie, that he preye for hym silf, and for his hows, and for al the cumpeny of Israel, til he go out of the tabernacle.
Không một ai được phép ở trong Lều Hội Kiến, trong lúc A-rôn vào Nơi Chí Thánh làm lễ chuộc tội cho mình, nhà mình và cho toàn dân Ít-ra-ên xong, cho đến khi người từ đó đi ra.
18 Sotheli whanne he hath go out to the auter which is bifor the Lord, preye he for hym silf, and schede he on the hornes therof, bi cumpas, the blood `that is takun of the calf, and of the `buk of geet;
Sau đó A-rôn sẽ ra đến bàn thờ trước mặt Chúa Hằng Hữu, làm lễ chuộc tội cho bàn thờ, lấy máu bò đực và máu dê đực bôi lên khắp các sừng của bàn thờ.
19 and sprynge he seuensithis with the fyngur, and clense he, and halewe the autir fro vnclennessis of the sones of Israel.
Người cũng lấy ngón tay rảy máu trên bàn thờ bảy lần, tẩy sạch sự ô uế của người Ít-ra-ên, và thánh hóa bàn thờ.
20 Aftir that he hath clensid the seyntuarie, and tabernacle, and auter, thanne offre he the lyuynge `buc of geet;
Sau khi làm xong lễ chuộc tội cho Nơi Chí Thánh, Đền Tạm, và bàn thờ, A-rôn sẽ đem con dê đực đến.
21 and whanne euer eithir hond is set on the heed therof, knowleche the preest alle the wickidnessis of the sones of Israel, and alle the trespassis and synnes `of hem, whiche the preest schal wische to the heed therof, and schal sende hym out in to deseert bi a man maad redi.
Người đặt tay mình lên đầu nó, xưng tất cả tội của người Ít-ra-ên trên đầu nó để nó mang tội của toàn dân, và một người được chỉ định sẵn sẽ đem nó vào hoang mạc.
22 And whanne the `buc of geet hath bore alle the wickidnessis `of hem in to a deseert lond,
Người ấy sẽ thả nó ra, con dê sẽ mang tất cả tội lỗi của dân đi vào nơi vắng vẻ, trong hoang mạc.
23 and is left `in deseert, Aaron schal turn ayen in to the tabernacle of witnessyng; and whanne the clothis ben put of, in whiche he was clothid bifore, whanne he entrid in to the seyntuarie of God, and ben left there,
Xong, A-rôn vào Đền Tạm, cởi tất cả y phục vải gai mình đã mặc để đi vào Nơi Chí Thánh, và bỏ tất cả ở đó.
24 he schal waische his fleisch in the hooli place, and he schal be clothid in his owen clothis, and aftir that he hath go out, and hath offrid the brent sacrifice of hym silf, and of the puple, he schal preye as wel for hym silf, as for the puple;
Người sẽ tắm tại một nơi thánh, mặc áo, đi ra dâng tế lễ thiêu của mình và của dân, để chuộc tội cho mình và cho dân.
25 and he schal brenne on the auter the innere fatnesse which is offrid for synne.
Người cũng đốt mỡ của sinh tế chuộc tội trên bàn thờ.
26 Sotheli he that leet go the `buk of geet able to be sent out, schal waische hise clothis and bodi with water, and so he schal entre in to the castels.
Còn người đem con dê vào hoang mạc phải giặt quần áo, tắm rửa, xong mới được vào nơi đóng trại.
27 Forsothe thei schulen bere out of the castels the calf and `buk of geet, that weren offrid for synne, and whos blood was brouyt in to the seyntuarie, that the clensyng were fillid; and thei schulen brenne bi fier as well the skynnys, as the fleischis and dung of tho.
Về con bò đực và dê đực dùng làm sinh tế chuộc tội, máu của nó sẽ được A-rôn đem vào Nơi Chí Thánh làm lễ chuộc tội; còn da, thịt và phân của nó sẽ được đem ra khỏi nơi đóng trại đốt đi.
28 And who euer brenneth tho, schal waische hise clothis and fleisch in watir, and so he schal entre in to the castels.
Người đốt sẽ phải giặt quần áo, tắm rửa xong mới được trở vào nơi đóng trại.
29 And this schal be to you a lawful thing euerlastynge; in the seuenthe monethe, in the tenthe dai of the monethe, ye schulen turment youre soulis, and ye schulen not do ony werk, nethir a man borun in the lond, nether a comelyng which is a pilgrym among you.
Luật sau đây có tính cách vĩnh viễn: Ngày mồng mười tháng bảy, mọi người phải hạ mình tĩnh tâm, nghỉ mọi công việc. Luật này áp dụng cho người dân bản xứ lẫn ngoại kiều.
30 The delyueryng fro synne, and the clensyng of you schal be in this dai, ye schulen be clensid bifore the Lord fro alle youre synnes;
Vì trong ngày hôm ấy, các ngươi được chuộc tội, tẩy sạch lỗi trước mặt Chúa Hằng Hữu.
31 for it is sabat of restyng, and ye schulen turment youre soulis bi euerlastynge religioun.
Đó là một ngày lễ cuối tuần long trọng, một ngày nghỉ ngơi, mọi người phải hãm mình tĩnh tâm. Luật này áp dụng đời đời.
32 Sotheli the preest schal clense, which is anoyntid, and whos hondis ben halewid, that he be set in preesthod for his fadir; and he schal be clothid in a lynnun stoole, and in hooli clothis,
Thầy tế lễ được xức dầu thánh để thay thế cha mình giữ chức trưởng tế phải làm lễ chuộc tội. Người sẽ mặc áo vải gai thánh,
33 and he schal clense the seyntuarie, and the tabernacle of witnessyng, and the auter, and the preestis, and al the puple.
đứng ra làm lễ chuộc tội cho Nơi Chí Thánh, Đền Tạm, bàn thờ, cho các thầy tế lễ khác và toàn dân.
34 And this schal be to you a lawful thing euerlastynge, that ye preye for the sones of Israel, and for alle the synnes `of hem, onys in the yeer. Therfor he dide, as the Lord comaundide to Moises.
Luật này không thay đổi qua các thời đại, liên hệ đến việc chuộc tội cho người dân Ít-ra-ên hằng năm, vì tội họ phạm.” Môi-se tuân theo mọi lời Chúa Hằng Hữu phán dạy.
