Lamentations 5
1 Lord, haue thou mynde what bifelle to vs; se thou, and biholde oure schenschipe.
याहवेह, स्मरण कीजिए हमने क्या-क्या सहा है; हमारी निंदा पर ध्यान दीजिए.
2 Oure eritage is turned to aliens, oure housis ben turned to straungers.
हमारा भाग अपरिचितों को दिया गया है, परदेशियों ने हमारे आवास अपना लिए हैं.
3 We ben maad fadirles children with out fadir; oure modris ben as widewis.
हम अनाथ एवं पितृहीन हो गए हैं, हमारी माताओं की स्थिति विधवाओं के सदृश हो चुकी है.
4 We drunken oure watir for monei, we bouyten oure trees for siluer.
यह आवश्यक है कि हम पेय जल के मूल्य का भुगतान करें; जो काठ हमें दिया जाता है, उसका क्रय किया जाना अनिवार्य है.
5 We weren dryuun bi oure heedis, and reste was not youun to feynt men.
वे जो हमारा पीछा कर रहे हैं, हमारे निकट पहुंच चुके हैं; हम थक चुके हैं, हमें विश्राम प्राप्त न हो सका है.
6 We yauen hond to Egipt, and to Assiriens, that we schulden be fillid with breed.
पर्याप्त भोजन के लिए हमने मिस्र तथा अश्शूर की अधीनता स्वीकार कर ली है.
7 Oure fadris synneden, and ben not, and we baren the wickidnessis of hem.
पाप तो उन्होंने किए, जो हमारे पूर्वज थे, और वे कूच कर गए अब हम हैं, जो उनकी पापिष्ठता का सम्वहन कर रहे हैं.
8 Seruauntis weren lordis of vs, and noon was, that ayenbouyte fro the hond of hem.
जो कभी हमारे दास थे, आज हमारे शासक बने हुए हैं, कोई भी नहीं, जो हमें उनकी अधीनता से विमुक्त करे.

अपने प्राणों का जोखिम उठाकर हम अपने भोजन की व्यवस्था करते हैं, क्योंकि निर्जन प्रदेश में तलवार हमारे पीछे लगी रहती है.

दुर्भिक्ष की ऊष्मा ने हमारी त्वचा ऐसी कालिगर्द हो गई है, मानो यह तंदूर है.
11 Thei maden low wymmen in Sion, and virgyns in the citees of Juda.
ज़ियोन में स्त्रियां भ्रष्ट कर दी गई हैं, यहूदिया के नगरों की कन्याएं.
12 Princes weren hangid bi the hond; thei weren not aschamed of the faces of elde men.
शासकों को उनके हाथों से लटका दिया गया है; पूर्वजों को कोई सम्मान नहीं दिया जा रहा.
13 Thei mysusiden yonge wexynge men vnchastli, and children fellen doun in tree.
युवाओं को चक्की चलाने के लिए बाध्य किया जा रहा है; किशोर लट्ठों के बोझ से लड़खड़ा रहे हैं.
14 Elde men failiden fro yatis; yonge men failiden of the queer of singeris.
प्रौढ़ नगर प्रवेश द्वार से नगर छोड़ जा चुके हैं; युवाओं का संबंध संगीत से टूट चुका है.
15 The ioie of oure herte failide; oure song is turned in to mourenyng.
हमारे हृदय में अब कोई उल्लास न रहा है; नृत्य की अभिव्यक्ति अब विलाप हो गई है.
16 The coroun of oure heed fellen doun; wo to vs! for we synneden.
हमारे सिर का मुकुट धूल में जा पड़ा है. धिक्कार है हम पर, हमने पाप किया है!
17 Therfor oure herte is maad soreuful, therfor oure iyen ben maad derk.
परिणामस्वरूप हमारे हृदय रुग्ण हो गए हैं, इन्हीं से हमारे नेत्र धुंधले हो गए हैं
18 For the hil of Sion, for it perischide; foxis yeden in it.
इसलिये कि ज़ियोन पर्वत निर्जन हो चुका है, वहां लोमड़ियों को विचरण करते देखा जा सकता है.
19 But thou, Lord, schal dwelle with outen ende; thi seete schal dwelle in generacioun and in to generacioun.
किंतु याहवेह, आपका शासन चिरकालिक है; पीढ़ी से पीढ़ी तक आपका सिंहासन स्थायी रहता है.
20 Whi schalt thou foryete vs with outen ende, schalt thou forsake vs in to lengthe of daies?
आपने हमें सदा के लिए विस्मृत क्यों कर दिया है? आपका यह परित्याग इतना दीर्घकालीन क्यों?
21 Lord, conuerte thou vs to thee, and we schal be conuertid; make thou newe oure daies, as at the bigynnyng.
हमसे अपने संबंध पुनःस्थापित कर लीजिए, कि हमारी पुनःस्थापना हो जाए; याहवेह, वही पूर्वयुग लौटा लाइए
22 But thou castynge awei hast cast awei vs; thou art wrooth ayens vs greetli.
हां, यदि आपने पूर्णतः हमारा परित्याग नहीं किया है तथा आप हमसे अतिशय नाराज नहीं हो गए हैं.
