Judges 9
1 Forsothe Abymelech, the sone of Gerobaal, yede in to Sichem to the britheren of his modir; and he spak to hem, and to al the kynrede of `the hows of his modir, and seide,
Adapun Abimelekh bin Yerubaal pergi ke Sikhem kepada saudara-saudara ibunya dan berkata kepada mereka dan kepada seluruh kaum dari pihak keluarga ibunya:
2 Speke ye to alle the men of Sichem, What is betere to you, that seuenti men, alle the sones of Gerobaal, be lordis of you, whether that o man be lord to you? and also biholde, for Y am youre boon, and youre fleisch.
"Tolong katakan kepada seluruh warga kota Sikhem: Manakah yang lebih baik bagimu: tujuh puluh orang memerintah kamu, yaitu semua anak Yerubaal, atau satu orang? Dan ingat juga, bahwa aku darah dagingmu."
3 And the britheren of his modir spaken of hym alle these wordis to alle the men of Sichem; and bowiden her hertis aftir Abymelech, and seiden, He is oure brother.
Lalu saudara-saudara ibunya mengatakan hal ihwalnya kepada seluruh warga kota Sikhem, maka condonglah hati orang-orang itu untuk mengikuti Abimelekh, sebab kata mereka: "Memang ia saudara kita."
4 And thei yauen to hym seuenti weiytis of siluer of the temple of Baal Berith; and he hiride to hym therof men pore and hauynge no certeyn dwellynge, and thei sueden hym.
Sesudah itu mereka memberikan kepadanya tujuh puluh uang perak dari kuil Baal-Berit, lalu Abimelekh memberi perak itu sebagai upah kepada petualang-petualang dan orang-orang nekat supaya mengikuti dia.
5 And he cam in to `the hows of his fadir in Ephra, and killide hise britheren the sones of Gerobaal, `seuenti men, on o stoon. And Joathan, the leste sone of Gerobaal, lefte, and was hid.
Ia pergi ke rumah ayahnya di Ofra, lalu membunuh saudara-saudaranya, anak-anak Yerubaal, tujuh puluh orang, di atas satu batu. Tetapi Yotam, anak bungsu Yerubaal tinggal hidup, karena ia menyembunyikan diri.
6 Forsothe alle the men of Sichem, and alle the meynees of the citee of Mello, weren gadirid to gydere, and thei yeden, and maden Abymelech kyng, bysidis the ook that stood in Sichem.
Kemudian berkumpullah seluruh warga kota Sikhem dan seluruh Bet-Milo; mereka pergi menobatkan Abimelekh menjadi raja dekat pohon tarbantin di tugu peringatan yang di Sikhem.
7 And whanne this thing was teld to Joathan, he yede, and stood in the cop of the hil Garisym, and cried with `vois reisid, and seide, Ye men of Sichem, here me, so that God here you.
Setelah hal itu dikabarkan kepada Yotam, pergilah ia ke gunung Gerizim dan berdiri di atasnya, lalu berserulah ia dengan suara nyaring kepada mereka: "Dengarkanlah aku, kamu warga kota Sikhem, maka Allah akan mendengarkan kamu juga.
8 Trees yeden to anoynte a kyng on hem; and tho seiden to the olyue tre, Comaunde thou to vs.
Sekali peristiwa pohon-pohon pergi mengurapi yang akan menjadi raja atas mereka. Kata mereka kepada pohon zaitun: Jadilah raja atas kami!
9 Whiche answeride, Whether Y may forsake my fatnesse, which bothe Goddis and men vsen, and come, that Y be auaunsid among trees?
Tetapi jawab pohon zaitun itu kepada mereka: Masakan aku meninggalkan minyakku yang dipakai untuk menghormati Allah dan manusia, dan pergi melayang di atas pohon-pohon?
10 And the trees seiden to the fige tree, Come thou, and take the rewme on vs.
Lalu kata pohon-pohon itu kepada pohon ara: Marilah, jadilah raja atas kami!
11 Which answeride to hem, Whether Y may forsake my swetnesse and swetteste fruytis, and go that Y be auaunsid among othere trees?
Tetapi jawab pohon ara itu kepada mereka: Masakan aku meninggalkan manisanku dan buah-buahku yang baik, dan pergi melayang di atas pohon-pohon?
12 Also `the trees spaken to the vyne, Come thou, and comaunde to vs.
Lalu kata pohon-pohon itu kepada pohon anggur: Marilah, jadilah raja atas kami!
13 Which answeride, Whether Y may forsake my wyn, that gladith God and men, and be auaunsid among othere trees?
Tetapi jawab pohon anggur itu kepada mereka: Masakan aku meninggalkan air buah anggurku, yang menyukakan hati Allah dan manusia, dan pergi melayang di atas pohon-pohon?
14 And alle trees seiden to the ramne, ether theue thorn, Come thou, and be lord on vs.
Lalu kata segala pohon itu kepada semak duri: Marilah, jadilah raja atas kami!
15 Whiche answeride to hem, If ye maken me verili kyng to you, come ye, and reste vndur my schadewe; sotheli, if ye nylen, fier go out of the ramne, and deuoure the cedris of the Liban.
Jawab semak duri itu kepada pohon-pohon itu: Jika kamu sungguh-sungguh mau mengurapi aku menjadi raja atas kamu, datanglah berlindung di bawah naunganku; tetapi jika tidak, biarlah api keluar dari semak duri dan memakan habis pohon-pohon aras yang di gunung Libanon.
16 Now therfor if riytfuli and without synne `ye han maad Abymelech kyng on you, and ye han do wel with Jerobaal, and with his hows, and ye han yolde while to the benefices of hym,
Maka sekarang, jika kamu berlaku setia dan tulus ikhlas dengan membuat Abimelekh menjadi raja, dan jika kamu berbuat yang baik kepada Yerubaal dan kepada keturunannya dan jika kamu membalaskan kepadanya seimbang dengan jasanya--
17 that fauyt for you, and yaf his lijf to perelis, that he schulde delyuere you fro the hond of Madian;
bukankah ayahku telah berperang membela kamu dan menyabung nyawanya, dan telah melepaskan kamu dari tangan orang Midian,
18 and ye han rise now ayens the hows of my fadir, and han slayn hyse sones, seuenti men, on o stoon, and `han maad Abymelech, sone of his handmayde, kyng on the dwelleris of Sichem, for he is youre brother;
padahal kamu sekarang memberontak terhadap keturunan ayahku dan membunuh anak-anaknya, tujuh puluh orang banyaknya, di atas satu batu, serta membuat Abimelekh anak seorang budaknya perempuan menjadi raja atas warga kota Sikhem, karena ia saudaramu--
19 therfor if ye han do riytfuli, and with out synne with Gerobaal and his hows, to dai be ye glad in Abymelech, and be he glad in you; but if ye han do weiwardli,
jadi jika kamu pada hari ini berlaku setia dan tulus ikhlas kepada Yerubaal dan keturunannya, maka silakanlah kamu bersukacita atas Abimelekh dan silakanlah ia bersukacita atas kamu.
20 fier go out `of hym, and waste the dwelleris of Sichem, and the citee of Mello; and fier go out of the men of Sichem, and of the citee of Mello, and deuoure Abymelech.
Tetapi jika tidak demikian, maka biarlah api keluar dari pada Abimelekh dan memakan habis warga kota Sikhem dan juga Bet-Milo, dan biarlah api keluar dari pada warga kota Sikhem dan juga dari Bet-Milo dan memakan habis Abimelekh."
21 And whanne he hadde seide these thingis, he fledde, and yede in to Berara, and dwellide there, for drede of Abymelech, his brother.
Kemudian larilah Yotam; ia melarikan diri ke Beer, dan tinggal di sana karena takut kepada Abimelekh, saudaranya itu.
22 And Abymelech regnede on Israel thre yeer.
Setelah tiga tahun lamanya Abimelekh memerintah atas orang Israel,
23 And the Lord sente the worste spirit bitwixe Abymelech and the dwelleris of Sichem, whiche bigynnen to holde hym abomynable,
maka Allah membangkitkan semangat jahat di antara Abimelekh dan warga kota Sikhem, sehingga warga kota Sikhem itu menjadi tidak setia kepada Abimelekh,
24 and to arette the felony of sleyng of seuenti sones of Gerobaal, and the schedyng out of her blood, in to Abymelech her brother, and to othere princes of Sichem, that hadden helpid hym.
supaya kekerasan terhadap ketujuh puluh anak Yerubaal dibalaskan dan darah mereka ditimpakan kepada Abimelekh, saudara mereka yang telah membunuh mereka dan kepada warga kota Sikhem yang membantu dia membunuh saudara-saudaranya itu.
25 And thei settiden buyschementis ayens hym in the hiynesse of hillis; and the while thei abideden `the comyng of hym, thei hauntiden theftis, and token preies of men passynge forth; and it was teld to Abymelech.
Sebab warga kota Sikhem itu menempatkan orang untuk menghadang dia di puncak gunung dan merampas setiap orang yang melewati mereka melalui jalan itu. Hal itu dikabarkan kepada Abimelekh.
26 Forsothe Gaal, `the sone of Obed, cam with his britheren, and passide in to Siccima; at whos entryng the dwelleris of Sichem weren reisid, and yeden out `in to feeldis,
Sementara itu Gaal bin Ebed beserta saudara-saudaranya telah datang dan pindah ke kota Sikhem. Warga kota Sikhem percaya kepadanya,
27 and wastiden vyneris, and `to-traden grapis; and with cumpeneys of syngeris maad thei entriden in to `the temple of her God, and among metis and drynkis thei cursiden Abymalech, while Gaal,
jadi pergilah mereka ke ladang; mereka mengumpulkan hasil kebun anggur mereka, dan mengirik memerasnya, lalu mengadakan perayaan. Mereka masuk ke kuil allah mereka dan makan minum sambil mengutuki Abimelekh.
28 the sone of Obed, criede, Who is this Abymelech? And what is Sichem, that we serue hym? Whether he is not the sone of Jerobaal, and made Zebul his seruaunt prince on the men of Emor, fadir of Sichem? Whi therfor schulen we serue hym?
Berkatalah Gaal bin Ebed: "Siapa itu Abimelekh dan siapa kita orang Sikhem, maka kita menjadi hambanya? Bukankah anak Yerubaal dan Zebul, wakilnya, menjadi hamba orang-orang Hemor, ayah Sikhem, jadi mengapakah kita menjadi hambanya?
29 `Y wolde, that sum man yaf this puple vndur myn hond, that Y schulde take awei Abimelech fro the myddis. And it was seid to Abymelech, Gadere thou the multitude of oost, and come thou.
Sekiranya orang-orang kota ini ada di dalam tanganku, maka tentulah aku mengenyahkan Abimelekh." Lalu berkatalah ia ke arah Abimelekh: "Perkuatlah tentaramu dan majulah!"
30 For whanne the wordis of Gaal, sone of Obed, weren herd, Zebul, the prynce of the citee, was ful wrooth;
Ketika Zebul, penguasa kota itu mendengar perkataan Gaal bin Ebed, bangkitlah amarahnya.
31 and he sente priueli messangeris to Abymelech, and seide, Lo! Gaal, sone of Obed, cam in to Siccymam, with hise britheren, and he excitith the citee to fiyte ayens thee;
Ia mengirim utusan kepada Abimelekh di Aruma dengan pesan: "Gaal bin Ebed dan saudara-saudaranya telah datang ke Sikhem dan ketahuilah mereka menghasut kota itu melawan engkau.
32 therfor rise thou bi niyt with the puple, which is with thee, and be thou hid in the feeld;
Oleh sebab itu, berangkatlah pada waktu malam, engkau dan rakyat yang bersama-sama dengan engkau itu, dan adakanlah penghadangan di padang.
33 and first in the morewtid, whanne the sunne rysith, falle on the citee; forsothe whanne he goth out with his puple ayens thee, do thou to hym that that thou maist.
Esoknya pagi-pagi, pada waktu matahari terbit, haruslah engkau menyerbu kota itu. Dan jika ia dan orang-orangnya keluar melawan engkau, maka engkau dapat berbuat kepadanya sesuai dengan keadaan yang kaudapati."
34 Therfor Abymelech roos with al his oost bi nyyt, and settide buyschementis bisidis Siccimam, in foure placis.
Sebab itu berangkatlah Abimelekh pada waktu malam beserta segala rakyat yang bersama-sama dengan dia, lalu mereka mengadakan penghadangan dalam empat pasukan untuk melawan Sikhem.
35 And Gaal, the sone of Obed, yede out, and stood in the entryng of `the yate of the citee. Forsothe Abymelech and al the oost with hym roos fro the place of buyschementis.
Ketika Gaal bin Ebed pergi ke luar dan berdiri di depan pintu gerbang kota itu, Abimelekh kebetulan bangun dari tempat penghadangannya beserta rakyat yang bersama-sama dengan dia.
36 And whanne Gaal hadde seyn the puple, he seide to Zebul, Lo! a multitude cometh doun fro the hillis. To whom he answeride, Thou seest the schadewis of hillis as the `heedis of men, and thou art disseyued bi this errour.
Ketika Gaal melihat rakyat itu, berkatalah ia kepada Zebul: "Lihat, ada orang banyak turun dari puncak gunung." Jawab Zebul kepadanya: "Itu bayang-bayang gunung, yang kausangka manusia."
37 And eft Gaal seide, Lo! a puple cometh doun fro the myddis of erthe, `that is, fro the hiynesse of hillis, and o cumpeny cometh bi the weie that biholdith the ook.
Kata Gaal sekali lagi: "Lihat, ada orang banyak turun dari gunung Pusat Tanah dan satu kelompok datang dari jalan Pohon Tarbantin Peramal."
38 To whom Zebul seide, Where is now thi mouth, bi which thou spekist, Who is Abymelech, that we serue hym? Whether this is not the puple, whom thou dispisidist? Go thou out, and fiyte ayens hym.
Jawab Zebul kepadanya: "Di manakah mulutmu itu yang mengatakan: Siapa itu Abimelekh, maka kita menjadi hambanya? Bukankah ini orang-orang yang telah kauhina itu? Majulah sekarang untuk memerangi mereka."
39 Therfor Gaal yede, while the puple of Sichen abood; and he fauyt ayens Abymelech.
Maka majulah Gaal dengan dipandangi oleh warga kota Sikhem, lalu berperang melawan Abimelekh.
40 Which pursuede Gaal fleynge, and constreynede to go in to the citee; and ful many of his part felde doun `til to the yate of the citee.
Tetapi Abimelekh mengejar dia, dan ia melarikan diri dari depannya, dan banyaklah orang tewas sampai di depan pintu gerbang.
41 And Abymelech sat in Ranna; sotheli Zebul puttide Gaal and hise felowis out of the citee, and suffride not to dwelle ther ynne.
Adapun Abimelekh tinggal di Aruma, tetapi Zebul mengusir Gaal dan saudara-saudaranya, sehingga mereka ini tidak dapat tinggal di Sikhem.
42 Therfor in the dai suynge the puple yede out in to the feeld; and whanne this thing was teld to Abymelech,
Keesokan harinya orang-orang kota itu pergi ke ladang. Setelah hal ini dikabarkan kepada Abimelekh,
43 he took his oost, and departide `in to thre cumpenyes, and settide buyschementis in the feeldis; and he siy that the puple yede out of the citee, and he roos,
dibawanyalah rakyatnya, dibaginya dalam tiga pasukan, lalu mereka mengadakan penghadangan di padang. Ketika dilihatnya, bahwa orang-orang kota itu keluar dari dalam kota, bangunlah ia menyerang mereka serta menewaskan mereka.
44 and felde on hem with his cumpeny, and enpugnyde and bisegide the citee. Sothely twei cumpenyes yeden aboute opynli bi the feeld, and pursueden aduersaries.
Abimelekh dan pasukan yang bersama-sama dengan dia menyerbu dan menduduki pintu gerbang kota, sedang kedua pasukan lain itu menyerbu dan menewaskan semua orang yang ada di padang.
45 Certis Abymelech fauyt ayens the citee in al that dai, which he took, whanne the dwelleris weren slayn, and that citee was destried, so that he spreynte abrood salt ther ynne.
Sehari-harian itu Abimelekh berperang melawan kota itu; ia merebut kota itu dan membunuh orang-orang yang di dalamnya; kemudian dirobohkannya kota itu dan ditaburinya dengan garam.
46 And whanne thei, that dwelliden in the tour of Sichem, hadde herd this, thei entriden in to the temple of her god Berith, where thei hadden maad boond of pees with hym; and of that the place took name, which place was ful strong.
Mendengar itu masuklah seluruh warga kota Menara-Sikhem ke dalam liang di bawah kuil El-Berit.
47 And Abymelech herde the men of the tour of Sichem gaderid to gidere,
Dikabarkanlah kepada Abimelekh, bahwa seluruh warga kota Menara-Sikhem telah berhimpun di sana.
48 and he stiede in to the hil Selmon with al his puple; and with an axe takun he kittide doun a boow of a tre, and he bar it, put on the schuldur, and seide to felowis, Do ye this thing, which ye seen me do.
Lalu Abimelekh dan seluruh rakyat yang bersama-sama dengan dia naik ke gunung Zalmon. Abimelekh mengambil kapak, lalu memotong dahan-dahan kayu, mengangkatnya dan meletakkannya ke atas bahunya sambil berkata kepada rakyatnya yang bersama-sama dengan dia: "Turutilah dengan segera perbuatanku yang kamu lihat ini."
49 Therfor with strijf thei kittiden doun bowis of the trees, and sueden the duyk; whiche cumpassiden and brenten `the tour; and so it was doon, that with smooke and fier a thousynde of men weren slayn, men togidere and wymmen, of the dwelleris of the tour of Sichem.
Kemudian rakyat itu juga masing-masing memotong dahan-dahan, lalu mengikuti Abimelekh, meletakkan dahan-dahan itu di atas liang dan membakar liang itu di atas kepala orang-orang itu. Demikianlah semua penduduk kota Menara-Sikhem juga mati, kira-kira seribu orang laki-laki dan perempuan.
50 Forsothe Abymelech wente forth fro thennus, and cam to the citee of Thebes, which he cumpasside, and bisegide with an oost.
Selanjutnya Abimelekh pergi ke Tebes; ia mengepung Tebes, lalu merebutnya.
51 Forsothe the tour was hiy in the myddis of the citee, to which men togidere and wymmen fledden, and alle the princes of the citee, while the yate was closid stronglieste; and thei stoden on the roof of the tour bi toretis.
Tetapi ada sebuah menara yang kuat di tengah-tengah kota, dan semua laki-laki dan perempuan, seluruh warga kota itu, melarikan diri ke situ; mereka menutup pintu di belakangnya dan naik ke atas sotoh menara itu.
52 And Abymelech cam bisidis the tour, and fauyt strongli, and he neiyede to the dore, and enforside to putte fier vndur; and lo!
Lalu sampailah Abimelekh ke menara itu, menyerangnya, dan dapat menerobos sampai ke pintu menara itu untuk membakarnya.
53 o womman castide fro aboue a gobet of a mylnestoon, and hurtlide to `the heed of Abymelech, and brak his brayn.
Tetapi seorang perempuan menimpakan sebuah batu kilangan kepada kepala Abimelekh dan memecahkan batu kepalanya.
54 And he clepide soone his squyer, and seide to hym, Drawe out thi swerd, and sle me, lest perauenture it be seid, that Y am slan of a womman. Which performede `the comaundementis, and `killide Abymelech;
Dengan segera dipanggilnya bujang pembawa senjatanya dan berkata kepadanya: "Hunuslah pedangmu dan bunuhlah aku, supaya jangan orang berkata tentang aku: Seorang perempuan membunuh dia." Lalu bujangnya itu menikam dia, sehingga mati.
55 and whanne he was deed, alle men of Israel that weren with hym turneden ayen to her seetis.
Setelah dilihat oleh orang Israel, bahwa Abimelekh telah mati, pergilah mereka, masing-masing ke tempat kediamannya.
56 And God yeldide to Abymelech the yuel that he dide ayens his fadir, for he killide hise seuenti britheren.
Demikianlah Allah membalaskan kejahatan yang dilakukan oleh Abimelekh kepada ayahnya, yaitu pembunuhan atas ketujuh puluh saudaranya;
57 Also that thing was yoldun to men of Sichem, which thei wrouyten, and the curs of Joathan, sone of Jerobaal, cam on hem.
juga segala kejahatan orang-orang Sikhem ditimpakan kembali oleh Allah kepada kepala mereka sendiri. Demikianlah kutuk Yotam bin Yerubaal mengenai mereka.
