Judges 11
1 And so in that tyme Jepte, a man of Galaad, was a ful strong man, and fiytere, the sone of a womman hoore, which Jepte was borun of Galaad.
and Jephthah [the] Gileadite to be mighty man strength and he/she/it son: child woman to fornicate and to beget Gilead [obj] Jephthah
2 Forsothe Galaad hadde a wijf, of which he hadde sones, whiche aftir that thei encressiden, castiden out Jepte, and seiden, Thou maist not be eir in the hows of oure fadir, for thou art born of a modir auoutresse.
and to beget woman: wife Gilead to/for him son: child and to magnify son: child [the] woman: wife and to drive out: divorce [obj] Jephthah and to say to/for him not to inherit in/on/with house: household father our for son: child woman another you(m. s.)
3 `Whiche britheren he fledde, and eschewide, and dwellide in the lond of Tob; and pore men and `doynge thefte weren gaderid to hym, and sueden as a prince.
and to flee Jephthah from face: before brother: male-sibling his and to dwell in/on/with land: country/planet Tob and to gather to(wards) Jephthah human worthless and to come out: come with him
4 In tho daies the sones of Amon fouyten ayens Israel;
and to be from day and to fight son: descendant/people Ammon with Israel
5 and whanne thei contynueden scharpli, the grettere men in birthe of Galaad, yeden to take in to `the help of hem silf Jepte fro the lond of Tob;
and to be like/as as which to fight son: descendant/people Ammon with Israel and to go: went old: elder Gilead to/for to take: bring [obj] Jephthah from land: country/planet Tob
6 and thei seiden to hym, Come thou, and be oure prince, and fiyte ayens the sones of Amon.
and to say to/for Jephthah to go: come! [emph?] and to be to/for us to/for chief and to fight in/on/with son: descendant/people Ammon
7 To whiche he answeride, Whethir not ye it ben, that haten me, and castiden me out of the hows of mi fadir, and now ye camen to me, and weren compellid bi nede?
and to say Jephthah to/for old: elder Gilead not you(m. p.) to hate [obj] me and to drive out: drive out me from house: household father my and why? to come (in): come to(wards) me now like/as as which distress to/for you
8 And the princes of Galaad seiden to Jepte, Therfor for this cause we camen now to thee, that thou go with vs, and fiyt ayens the sones of Amon; and that thou be the duyk of alle men that dwellen in Galaad.
and to say old: elder Gilead to(wards) Jephthah to/for so now to return: return to(wards) you and to go: went with us and to fight in/on/with son: descendant/people Ammon and to be to/for us to/for head: leader to/for all to dwell Gilead
9 And Jepte seide to hem, Whether ye camen verili to me, that Y fiyte for you ayens the sones of Amon, and if the Lord schal bitake hem in to myn hondis, schal Y be youre prince?
and to say Jephthah to(wards) old: elder Gilead if to return: rescue you(m. p.) [obj] me to/for to fight in/on/with son: descendant/people Ammon and to give: give LORD [obj] them to/for face: before my I to be to/for you to/for head: leader
10 Whiche answeriden to hym, The Lord hym silf, that herith these thingis, is mediatour and witnesse, that we schulen do oure biheestis.
and to say old: elder Gilead to(wards) Jephthah LORD to be to hear: judge between us if not like/as word your so to make: do
11 And so Jepte wente with the princes of Galaad, and al the puple made hym her prince; and Jepte spak alle hise wordis bifor the Lord in Maspha.
and to go: went Jephthah with old: elder Gilead and to set: make [the] people [obj] him upon them to/for head: leader and to/for chief and to speak: speak Jephthah [obj] all word his to/for face: before LORD in/on/with Mizpah
12 And he sente messangeris to the kyng of the sones of Amon, whiche messangeris schulden seie `of his persoone, What is to me and to thee, for thou hast come `ayens me to waaste my lond?
and to send: depart Jephthah messenger to(wards) king son: descendant/people Ammon to/for to say what? to/for me and to/for you for to come (in): come to(wards) me to/for to fight in/on/with land: country/planet my
13 To whiche the kyng answeride, For Israel whanne he stiede fro Egipt took awei my lond, fro the coostis of Arnon `til to Jaboch and to Jordan, now therfor yeelde it to me with pees.
and to say king son: descendant/people Ammon to(wards) messenger Jephthah for to take: take Israel [obj] land: country/planet my in/on/with to ascend: rise he from Egypt from Arnon and till [the] Jabbok and till [the] Jordan and now to return: rescue [emph?] [obj] them in/on/with peace
14 Bi whiche massangeris Jepte sente eft, and comaundide to hem, that thei schulden seie to the kyng of Amon,
and to add: again still Jephthah and to send: depart messenger to(wards) king son: descendant/people Ammon
15 Jepte seith these thingis, Israel took not the lond of Moab, nether the lond of the sones of Amon;
and to say to/for him thus to say Jephthah not to take: take Israel [obj] land: country/planet Moab and [obj] land: country/planet son: descendant/people Ammon
16 but whanne thei stieden fro Egipt, `he yede bi the wildirnesse `til to the Reed See, and cam in to Cades;
for in/on/with to ascend: rise they from Egypt and to go: went Israel in/on/with wilderness till sea Red (Sea) and to come (in): come Kadesh [to]
17 and he sente messangeris to the kyng of Edom, and seide, Suffre thou me, that Y go thoruy thi lond; which kyng nolde assente to his preyeres. Also Israel sente to the kyng of Moab, and he dispiside to yyue passage;
and to send: depart Israel messenger to(wards) king Edom to/for to say to pass please in/on/with land: country/planet your and not to hear: hear king Edom and also to(wards) king Moab to send: depart and not be willing and to dwell Israel in/on/with Kadesh
18 and so Israel dwellyde in Cades, and cumpasside bi the side the lond of Edom, and the lond of Moab; and he cam to the eest coost of the lond of Moab, and settide tentis biyende Arnon, nether he wolde entre in to the termes of Moab; for Arnon is the ende of the lond of Moab.
and to go: walk in/on/with wilderness and to turn: surround [obj] land: country/planet Edom and [obj] land: country/planet Moab and to come (in): come from east sun to/for land: country/planet Moab and to camp [emph?] in/on/with side: beside Arnon and not to come (in): come in/on/with border: area Moab for Arnon border: boundary Moab
19 And so Israel sente messangeris to Seon, kyng of Ammorreis, that dwellide in Esebon; and thei seiden to hym, Suffre thou, that Y passe thorouy thi lond `til to the ryuer.
and to send: depart Israel messenger to(wards) Sihon king [the] Amorite king Heshbon and to say to/for him Israel to pass please in/on/with land: country/planet your till place my
20 And he dispiside the wordis of Israel, and suffride not hym passe bi hise termes, but with a multitude with out noumbre gaderid to gidere he yede out ayens Israel, and ayenstood strongli.
and not be faithful Sihon [obj] Israel to pass in/on/with border: area his and to gather Sihon [obj] all people: soldiers his and to camp in/on/with Jahaz [to] and to fight with Israel
21 And the Lord bitook hym with al his oost in to the hondis of Israel; and Israel smoot hym, and hadde in possessioun al the lond of Ammorrey,
and to give: give LORD God Israel [obj] Sihon and [obj] all people: soldiers his in/on/with hand: power Israel and to smite them and to possess: take Israel [obj] all land: country/planet [the] Amorite to dwell [the] land: country/planet [the] he/she/it
22 dwellere of that cuntrey, and al the coostis therof fro Arnon `til to Jaboch, and fro the wildirnesse `til to Jordan.
and to possess: take [obj] all border: area [the] Amorite from Arnon and till [the] Jabbok and from [the] wilderness and till [the] Jordan
23 Therfor the Lord God of Israel distriede Ammorrey, fiytynge ayens hym for his puple Israel. And wolt thou now haue in possessioun `his lond? Whether not tho thingis whiche Chamos, thi god, hadde in possessioun, ben due to thee bi riyt?
and now LORD God Israel to possess: take [obj] [the] Amorite from face: before people his Israel and you(m. s.) to possess: take him
24 Forsothe tho thingis whiche `oure Lord God ouercomere gat, schulen falle in to oure possessioun;
not [obj] which to possess: possess you Chemosh God your [obj] him to possess: take and [obj] all which to possess: take LORD God our from face: before our [obj] him to possess: take
25 no but in hap thou art betere than Balach, the sone of Sephor, kyng of Moab, ether thou maist preue, that he stryuede ayens Israel, and fauyt ayens hym,
and now be pleasing be pleasing you(m. s.) from Balak son: child Zippor king Moab to contend to contend with Israel if to fight to fight in/on/with them
26 whanne he dwellide in Esebon, and in townes therof, and in Aroer, and in townes therof, and in alle citees biyende Jordan, bi thre hundrid yeer. Whi in so myche time assaieden ye no thing on this axyng ayen?
in/on/with to dwell Israel in/on/with Heshbon and in/on/with daughter: village her and in/on/with Aroer and in/on/with daughter: village her and in/on/with all [the] city which upon hand: bank Arnon three hundred year and why? not to rescue in/on/with time [the] he/she/it
27 Therfor not Y do synne ayens thee, but thou doist yuel ayens me, and bryngist in batels not iust to me; the Lord, iuge of this dai, deme bitwixe the sones of Israel and bitwixe the sones of Amon.
and I not to sin to/for you and you(m. s.) to make: do with me distress: evil to/for to fight in/on/with me to judge LORD [the] to judge [the] day: today between son: descendant/people Israel and between son: descendant/people Ammon
28 And the kyng of the sones of Amon nolde assente to the wordis of Jepte, whiche he sente bi messangeris.
and not to hear: hear king son: descendant/people Ammon to(wards) word Jephthah which to send: depart to(wards) him
29 Therfor the spirit of the Lord was maad on Jepte, and he cumpasside Galaad and Manasses, Maspha and Galaad; and he passide fro thennus to the sones of Amon,
and to be upon Jephthah spirit LORD and to pass [obj] [the] Gilead and [obj] Manasseh and to pass [obj] Mizpah Gilead and from Mizpah Gilead to pass son: descendant/people Ammon
30 and made a vow to the Lord, and seide, If thou schalt bitake the sones of Amon in to myn hondis,
and to vow Jephthah vow to/for LORD and to say if to give: give to give: give [obj] son: descendant/people Ammon in/on/with hand: power my
31 who euer goith out first of the dores of myn hows, and cometh ayens me turnynge ayen with pees fro the sones of Amon, Y schal offre hym brent sacrifice to the Lord.
and to be [the] to come out: come which to come out: come from door house: home my to/for to encounter: meet me in/on/with to return: return I in/on/with peace from son: descendant/people Ammon and to be to/for LORD and to ascend: offer up him burnt offering
32 And Jepte yede to the sones of Amon, to fiyte ayens hem, whiche the Lord bitook in to hise hondis;
and to pass Jephthah to(wards) son: descendant/people Ammon to/for to fight in/on/with them (and to give: give them *L(abh)*) LORD in/on/with hand: power his
33 and he smoot fro Aroer `til to thou comest in to Mennyth, twenti citees, and `til to Abel, which is set aboute with vyneris, with ful greet veniaunce; and the sones of Amon weren maad low of the sones of Israel.
and to smite them from Aroer and till to come (in): towards you Minnith twenty city and till Abel-keramim Abel-keramim wound great: large much and be humble son: descendant/people Ammon from face: before son: descendant/people Israel
34 Forsothe whanne Jepte turnede ayen in to Maspha, his hows, his oon gendrid douyter cam to hym with tympanys and croudis; for he hadde not othere fre children.
and to come (in): come Jephthah [the] Mizpah to(wards) house: home his and behold daughter his to come out: come to/for to encounter: meet him in/on/with tambourine and in/on/with dance and except he/she/it only nothing to/for him from him son: child or daughter
35 And whanne `sche was seyn, he to-rente his clothis, and seide, Allas! my douytir, thou hast disseyued me, and thou art disseyued; for Y openyde my mouth to the Lord, and Y may do noon other thing.
and to be like/as to see: see he [obj] her and to tear [obj] garment his and to say alas! daughter my to bow to bow me and you(f. s.) to be in/on/with to trouble me and I to open lip my to(wards) LORD and not be able to/for to return: turn back
36 To whom sche answeride, My fadir, if thou openydist thi mouth to the Lord, do to me what euer thing thou bihiytist, while veniaunce and victorie of thin enemyes is grauntid to thee.
and to say to(wards) him father my to open [obj] lip your to(wards) LORD to make: do to/for me like/as as which to come out: speak from lip your after which to make: do to/for you LORD vengeance from enemy your from son: descendant/people Ammon
37 And sche seide to the fadir, Yyue thou to me oneli this thing, which Y biseche; suffre thou me that in two monethis Y cumpasse hillis, and biweile my maidynhed with my felowis.
and to say to(wards) father her to make: do to/for me [the] word: thing [the] this to slacken from me two month and to go: went and to go down upon [the] mountain: mount and to weep upon virginity my I (and companion my *Q(K)*)
38 To whom he answeride, Go thou. And he sufferide hir in two monethis. And whanne sche hadde go with hir felowis and pleiferis, sche biwepte hir maydynhed in the hillis.
and to say to go: went and to send: let go [obj] her two month and to go: went he/she/it and companion her and to weep upon virginity her upon [the] mountain: mount
39 And whanne twey monethis weren fillid, sche turnede ayen to hir fadir, and he dide to hir as he avowide; and sche knew not fleischli a man. Fro thennus a custom cam in Israel,
and to be from end two month and to return: return to(wards) father her and to make: do to/for her [obj] vow his which to vow and he/she/it not to know man and to be statute: decree in/on/with Israel
40 and the custom is kept, that aftir the `ende of the yeer the douytris of Israel come togidere, and biweile `the douytir of Jepte of Galaad `foure daies.
