Joshua 5
1 Therfor aftir that alle kyngis of Ammorreys herden, that dwelliden ouer Jordan at the west coost, and alle the kyngis of Canaan, that weldiden nyy places of the greet see, that the Lord hadden dried the flowyngis of Jordan bifor the sones of Israel, til thei passiden, the herte of hem was failid, and spirit dwellide not in hem, dredynge the entring of the sones of Israel.
Vả, các vua A-mô-rít ở bên kia sông Giô-đanh về phía tây, và các vua Ca-na-an ở gần biển vừa hay rằng Đức Giê-hô-va đã làm cho nước sông Giô-đanh bày khô trước mặt dân Y-sơ-ra-ên, cho đến chừng đã đi qua khỏi, thì lòng họ kinh khiếp và nao sờn vì cớ dân Y-sơ-ra-ên.
2 In that tyme the Lord seide to Josue, Make to thee knyues of stoon, and circumside thou the sones of Israel, in the secunde tyme.
Trong lúc đó Đức Giê-hô-va phán cùng Giô-suê rằng: Hãy sắm sửa dao bằng đá lửa, và làm phép cắt bì lần thứ nhì cho dân Y-sơ-ra-ên.
3 Josue dide tho thingis whiche the Lord comaundide, and he circumside the sones of Israel in the `hil of prepucies.
Vậy, Giô-suê sắm sửa dao bằng đá lửa, và làm phép cắt bì cho dân Y-sơ-ra-ên tại trên gò A-ra-lốt.
4 Sotheli this is the cause of the secunde circumcisioun; al the puple of male kynde, that yede out of Egipt, alle men fiyteris, weren deed in deseert bi the lengeste cumpassis of weie,
Này là cớ Giô-suê làm phép cắt bì cho họ: Các người nam trong dân chúng đã ra khỏi xứ Ê-díp-tô, tức là các chiến sĩ, đều đã chết dọc đường trong đồng vắng, sau khi ra khỏi xứ Ê-díp-tô.
5 whiche alle weren circumsidid. Sotheli the puple
Vả, hết thảy dân chúng mà đã ra khỏi xứ Ê-díp-tô đều có chịu phép cắt bì; nhưng sau khi ra khỏi xứ Ê-díp-tô người ta không có làm phép cắt bì cho một ai trong những người sanh ra dọc đường tại nơi đồng vắng.
6 that was borun in deseert bi fourti yeer, in the weie of broddeste wildirnesse, was vncircumsidid til thei weren waastid, that herden not the `vois of the Lord, and to whiche he swoor bifore, that he schulde schewe to hem the lond flowynge with mylk and hony.
Vì dân Y-sơ-ra-ên đã đi trong đồng vắng bốn mươi năm cho đến chừng cả dân sự đã bị chết hết, tức là những chiến sĩ đã ra khỏi xứ Ê-díp-tô, mà không vâng theo tiếng của Đức Giê-hô-va. Đức Giê-hô-va có thề cùng chúng rằng sẽ chẳng cho họ thấy xứ mà Đức Giê-hô-va đã thề cùng tổ phụ họ ban cho chúng ta, tức là xứ đượm sữa và mật.
7 The sones of hem camen aftirward in to the place of fadris, and thei weren circumsidid of Josue; whiche, as thei weren borun, weren in prepucie, nether ony man hadde circumsidid hem in the weie.
Và Ngài đã dấy lên con cháu của họ mà thế vào chỗ. Aáy là con cháu này mà Giô-suê làm phép cắt bì cho, vì chúng nó không có chịu phép cắt bì dọc đường.
8 Forsothe aftir that alle weren circumsidid, thei dwelliden in the same place of tentis, til thei weren heelid.
Khi người ta làm phép cắt bì cho hết thảy dân sự xong rồi, thì họ ở lại chỗ mình trong trại quân cho đến chừng nào lành.
9 And the Lord seide to Josue, To dai Y haue take awei fro you the schenschip of Egipt. And the name of that place was clepid Galgala, `til in to present dai.
Bấy giờ, Đức Giê-hô-va phán cùng Giô-suê rằng: Ngày nay ta đã cất khỏi các ngươi sự xấu hổ của xứ Ê-díp-tô. Nên người ta gọi chỗ ấy là Ghinh-ganh cho đến ngày nay.
10 And the sones of Israel dwelliden in Galgalis, and maden pask in the fourtenthe dai of the monethe at euentide, in the feeldi places of Jerico;
Dân Y-sơ-ra-ên đóng trại tại Ghinh-ganh trong đồng bằng Giê-ri-cô, và giữ lễ Vượt qua nhằm ngày mười bốn tháng này, vào lối chiều tối.
11 and `thei eten of the fruytis of the lond `in the tothir day, therf looues, and potage of the same yeer, `ether cornys seengid and frotid in the hond.
Ngày sau lễ Vượt qua, chính ngày đó, dân sự ăn thổ sản của xứ, bánh không men, và hột rang.
12 And manna failide aftir that thei eten of the fruytis of the lond; and the sones of Israel vsiden no more that mete, but thei eten of the fruytis of present yeer of the lond of Canaan.
Ngày mà chúng đã ăn lúa mì của xứ, thì đến sáng mai ma-na hết; vậy, dân Y-sơ-ra-ên không có ma-na nữa, nhưng trong năm đó ăn những thổ sản của Ca-na-an.
13 Sothely whanne Josue was in the feeld of the cite of Jerico, he reiside the iyen, and siy a man stondynge ayens hym, and holdynge a drawun swerd; and Josue yede out to hym, and seide, Art thou oure, ethir `of aduersaries?
Xảy khi Giô-suê ở gần Giê-ri-cô, ngước mắt lên mà nhìn, bèn thấy một người đứng cầm gươm trần đối diện cùng mình. Giô-suê đi lại người và nói rằng: Ngươi là người của chúng ta hay là người của kẻ thù nghịch chúng ta?
14 To whom he answeride, Nay, but Y am prince of the `hoost of the Lord, and now Y come. Josue felde lowe to erthe, and worschipide, and seide, What spekith my Lord to his seruaunt?
Người đáp: không, bây giờ ta đến làm tướng đạo binh của Đức Giê-hô-va. Giô-suê bèn sấp mặt xuống đất, lạy, và hỏi rằng: Chúa truyền cho tôi tớ Chúa điều gì?
15 He seide, Vnlace thi schoo fro thi feet, for the place, in which thou stondist, is hooli. And Josue dide, as it was comaundid to hym.
Tướng đạo binh của Đức Giê-hô-va nói cùng Giô-suê rằng: Hãy lột giày khỏi chân ngươi, vì nơi ngươi đứng là thánh. Giô-suê bèn làm như vậy.
