Joshua 3
1 Therfor Josue roos bi nyyt, and mouede tentis; and thei yeden out of Sechym, and camen to Jordan, he and alle the sones of Israel, and dwelliden there thre daies.
Trời vừa sáng, Giô-suê dẫn toàn dân Ít-ra-ên từ Si-tim đi đến bờ Sông Giô-đan. Họ cắm trại chờ ngày sang sông.
2 And whanne tho daies weren passid, crieris yeden thorouy the myddis of tentis,
Ngày thứ ba, các viên chức đi khắp các trại truyền chỉ thị:
3 and bigunnen to crie, Whanne ye seen the arke of boond of pees of youre Lord God, and the preestis of the generacioun of Leuy berynge it, also rise ye, and sue the biforgoeris;
“Khi thấy các thầy tế lễ và người Lê-vi khiêng Hòm Giao Ước của Chúa Hằng Hữu, Đức Chúa Trời của anh em đi, anh em phải nhổ trại đi theo.
4 and a space of twey thousynde cubitis be bitwixe you and the arke, that ye moun se fer, and knowe bi what weie ye schulen entre, for ye `yeden not bifore bi it; and be ye war, that ye neiye not to the arke.
Vì anh em chưa đi đường này bao giờ, nên phải theo sự hướng dẫn của họ. Nhưng đừng theo gần quá, phải giữ một khoảng cách chừng 920 mét.”
5 And Josue seide to the puple, Be ye halewid, for to morew the Lord schal make merueilis among you.
Giô-suê nói: “Anh em phải giữ mình thánh sạch, vì ngày mai Chúa Hằng Hữu sẽ làm những việc lạ thường trước mắt anh em.”
6 And Josue seide to the preestis, Take ye the arke of the boond of pees `of the Lord, and go ye bifor the puple. Whiche filliden the heestis, and tooken the arke, and yeden bifor hem.
Theo lệnh Giô-suê, các thầy tế lễ khiêng Hòm Giao Ước ra đi; toàn dân theo sau.
7 And the Lord seide to Josue, To dai Y schal bigynne to enhaunse thee bifor al Israel, that thei wite, that as Y was with Moises, so Y am also with thee.
Chúa Hằng Hữu phán bảo Giô-suê: “Hôm nay Ta sẽ làm cho con được vinh dự trước mặt toàn dân Ít-ra-ên, họ sẽ biết rằng Ta ở với con cũng như Ta đã ở với Môi-se.
8 Forsothe comaunde thou to preestis, that beren the arke of bond of pees, and seie thou to hem, Whanne ye han entrid in to a part of the watir of Jordan, stonde ye therynne.
Con hãy truyền cho các thầy tế lễ khiêng Hòm Giao Ước: Khi đến mé sông Giô-đan, họ phải dừng lại dưới sông.”
9 And Josue seide to the sones of Israel, Neiye ye hidur, and here ye the word of youre Lord God.
Giô-suê nói với dân chúng, “Hãy lại gần, nghe lời của Chúa Hằng Hữu, Đức Chúa Trời của Ít-ra-ên.”
10 And eft he seide, In this ye schulen wite that the Lord God lyuynge is in the myddis of you; and he schal distrye in youre siyt Cananey, Ethei, Euey, and Feresei, and Gergesei, and Jebusei, and Amorrei.
Rồi người nói: “Việc xảy ra hôm nay sẽ cho anh em biết rằng Đức Chúa Trời hằng sống đang ở giữa anh em. Chúa sẽ đuổi các dân tộc sau đây đi: Người Ca-na-an, Hê-tít, Hê-vi, Phê-rết, Ghi-rê-ga, A-mô-rít và Giê-bu.
11 Lo! the arke of boond of pees of the Lord of al erthe schal go bifor you thorouy Jordan.
Này, Hòm Giao Ước của Chúa Hằng Hữu, là Đức Chúa Trời của cả nhân loại, sẽ đi trước anh em qua Sông Giô-đan.
12 Make ye redi twelue men of the twelue lynagis of Israel, bi ech lynage o man.
Vậy, bây giờ hãy chọn mười hai người, mỗi đại tộc một người.
13 And whanne the preestis, that beren the arke of boond of pees of the Lord God of al erthe, han set the steppis of her feet in the watris of Jordan, the watris that ben lowere schulen renne doun, and schulen faile; forsothe the watris that comen fro aboue schulen stonde togidere in o gobet.
Khi các thầy tế lễ khiêng Hòm Giao Ước của Chúa Hằng Hữu, Chúa của cả nhân loại, giẫm chân vào nước sông, dòng sông sẽ bị chia đôi, nước sông từ nguồn chảy xuống dồn lại thành một khối.”
14 Therfor the puple yede out of her tabernaclis to passe Jordan; and the preestis that baren the arke of boond of pees yeden bifor the puple.
Vậy, khi dân chúng nhổ trại để sang sông Giô-đan thì các thầy tế lễ khiêng Hòm Giao Ước đi trước họ.
15 And whanne the preestis entriden in to Jordan, and her feet weren dippid in the part of watir; forsothe Jordan `hadde fillid the brynkis of his trow in the tyme of `ripe corn;
Lúc ấy nhằm mùa gặt, nước sông Giô-đan tràn lên khắp bờ. Nhưng khi những thầy tế lễ khiêng Hòm Giao Ước vừa giẫm chân vào nước,
16 the watris yeden doun, and stoden in o place, and wexiden grete at the licnesse of an hil, and apperiden fer fro the citee that was clepid Edom, `til to the place of Sarthan; sotheli the watris that weren lowere yeden doun in to the see of wildirnesse, which is now clepid the deed see, `til the watris failiden outirli.
bỗng nhiên nước từ nguồn đổ xuống ngưng lại, dồn cao lên. Khúc sông bị nước dồn lên như thế trải dài ra đến tận A-đam, một thành gần Xát-than. Trong khi đó, nước sông phía dưới tiếp tục chảy ra Biển Chết, lòng sông bắt đầu cạn. Toàn dân đi qua, ngang chỗ thành Giê-ri-cô.
17 Forsothe the puple yede thorouy Jordan; and the preestis, that baren the arke of the boond of pees of the Lord, stoden gird on the drie erthe in the myddis of Jordan, and al the puple passide thorouy the drie trow.
Các thầy tế lễ khiêng Hòm Giao Ước của Chúa Hằng Hữu dừng lại giữa sông như trên đất khô trong khi toàn dân đi qua trên phần khô ráo của lòng sông cho đến khi hết thảy người Ít-ra-ên đều vượt qua sông Giô-đan.
