Joshua 3
1 Therfor Josue roos bi nyyt, and mouede tentis; and thei yeden out of Sechym, and camen to Jordan, he and alle the sones of Israel, and dwelliden there thre daies.
Bittida följande morgon bröt Josua med alla Israels barn upp från Sittim och kom till Jordan; där stannade de om natten, innan de gingo över.
2 And whanne tho daies weren passid, crieris yeden thorouy the myddis of tentis,
Men efter tre dagar gingo tillsyningsmännen genom lägret
3 and bigunnen to crie, Whanne ye seen the arke of boond of pees of youre Lord God, and the preestis of the generacioun of Leuy berynge it, also rise ye, and sue the biforgoeris;
och bjödo folket och sade: »Så snart I fån se HERRENS, eder Guds, förbundsark, och att de levitiska prästerna bära den, skolen ock I bryta upp från eder plats och följa efter den
4 and a space of twey thousynde cubitis be bitwixe you and the arke, that ye moun se fer, and knowe bi what weie ye schulen entre, for ye `yeden not bifore bi it; and be ye war, that ye neiye not to the arke.
-- låten dock mellan den och eder vara ett avstånd av vid pass två tusen alnar; närmare mån I icke komma den -- på det att I mån kunna veta vilken väg I skolen gå, ty I haven icke förut dragit den vägen fram.»
5 And Josue seide to the puple, Be ye halewid, for to morew the Lord schal make merueilis among you.
Och Josua sade till folket: »Helgen eder, ty i morgon skall HERREN göra under bland eder.»
6 And Josue seide to the preestis, Take ye the arke of the boond of pees `of the Lord, and go ye bifor the puple. Whiche filliden the heestis, and tooken the arke, and yeden bifor hem.
Därefter sade Josua till prästerna: »Tagen förbundsarken och dragen åstad framför folket.» Då togo de förbundsarken och gingo framför folket.
7 And the Lord seide to Josue, To dai Y schal bigynne to enhaunse thee bifor al Israel, that thei wite, that as Y was with Moises, so Y am also with thee.
Och HERREN sade till Josua: »I dag skall jag begynna att göra dig stor i hela Israels ögon, på det att de må förnimma, att såsom jag har varit med Mose, så vill jag ock vara med dig.
8 Forsothe comaunde thou to preestis, that beren the arke of bond of pees, and seie thou to hem, Whanne ye han entrid in to a part of the watir of Jordan, stonde ye therynne.
Bjud du nu prästerna som bära förbundsarken och säg: 'Så snart I kommen till den yttersta randen av Jordans vatten, skolen I stanna där, vid Jordan.'»
9 And Josue seide to the sones of Israel, Neiye ye hidur, and here ye the word of youre Lord God.
Då sade Josua till Israels barn: »Träden fram hit och hören HERRENS, eder Guds, ord.»
10 And eft he seide, In this ye schulen wite that the Lord God lyuynge is in the myddis of you; and he schal distrye in youre siyt Cananey, Ethei, Euey, and Feresei, and Gergesei, and Jebusei, and Amorrei.
Och Josua sade: »Härav skolen I förnimma att en levande Gud är mitt ibland eder, och att han förvisso vill fördriva för eder kananéerna, hetiterna, hivéerna, perisséerna, girgaséerna, amoréerna och jebuséerna:
11 Lo! the arke of boond of pees of the Lord of al erthe schal go bifor you thorouy Jordan.
förbundsarken, hela jordens Herres förbundsark, drager nu framför eder över Jordan.
12 Make ye redi twelue men of the twelue lynagis of Israel, bi ech lynage o man.
Väljen alltså ut tolv män ur Israels stammar, en man för var stam.
13 And whanne the preestis, that beren the arke of boond of pees of the Lord God of al erthe, han set the steppis of her feet in the watris of Jordan, the watris that ben lowere schulen renne doun, and schulen faile; forsothe the watris that comen fro aboue schulen stonde togidere in o gobet.
Så snart då prästerna som bära HERRENS, hela jordens Herres, ark stå stilla med sina fötter i Jordans vatten, det vatten som kommer uppifrån, bliva avskuret i sitt lopp, och det skall stå såsom en samlad hög.»
14 Therfor the puple yede out of her tabernaclis to passe Jordan; and the preestis that baren the arke of boond of pees yeden bifor the puple.
Folket bröt då upp från sina tält för att gå över Jordan, och prästerna som buro förbundsarken gingo framför folket.
15 And whanne the preestis entriden in to Jordan, and her feet weren dippid in the part of watir; forsothe Jordan `hadde fillid the brynkis of his trow in the tyme of `ripe corn;
När nu de som buro arken kommo till Jordan, så att prästerna, som buro arken, med sina fötter vidrörde yttersta randen av vattnet i Jordan, vilken under hela skördetiden är full över alla sina bräddar,
16 the watris yeden doun, and stoden in o place, and wexiden grete at the licnesse of an hil, and apperiden fer fro the citee that was clepid Edom, `til to the place of Sarthan; sotheli the watris that weren lowere yeden doun in to the see of wildirnesse, which is now clepid the deed see, `til the watris failiden outirli.
då stannade det vatten som kom uppifrån, och blev stående såsom en samlad hög långt borta, uppe vid Adam, staden som ligger bredvid Saretan; och det vatten som flöt ned mot Hedmarkshavet, Salthavet, blev sålunda helt och hållet avskuret. Och folket gick över mitt emot Jeriko.
17 Forsothe the puple yede thorouy Jordan; and the preestis, that baren the arke of the boond of pees of the Lord, stoden gird on the drie erthe in the myddis of Jordan, and al the puple passide thorouy the drie trow.
Men prästerna som buro HERRENS förbundsark stodo orörliga på torr mark mitt i Jordan; och hela Israel gick över på torr mark, till dess att allt folket helt och hållet hade kommit över Jordan.
