Joshua 24
1 And Josue gaderide alle the lynagis of Israel in to Sechem; and he clepide the grettere men in birthe, and the princes, and iugis, and maistris; and thei stoden in the siyt of the Lord.
૧યહોશુઆએ ઇઝરાયલના સર્વ કુળોને શખેમમાં ભેગાં કર્યા. ઇઝરાયલના વડીલોને, તેઓના આગેવાનોને, વડાઓને, ન્યાયાધીશોને, તેઓના અધિકારીઓને બોલાવ્યા અને તેઓ યહોવાહની સમક્ષ ઉપસ્થિત થયા.
2 And he spak thus to the puple, The Lord God of Israel seith these thingis, Youre fadris dwelliden at the bigynnyng biyende the flood Eufrates, Thare, the fadir of Abraham, and Nachor, and thei serueden alien goddis.
૨યહોશુઆએ સર્વ લોકોને કહ્યું, “ઇઝરાયલના યહોવાહ, કહે છે કે, ‘પૂર્વકાળે તમારા પૂર્વજ ઇબ્રાહિમના પિતા તથા નાહોરના પિતા તેરાહ ફ્રાત નદીને પેલે પાર વસેલા હતા. તેઓ અન્ય દેવોની પૂજાભક્તિ કરતા હતા.
3 Therfor Y took youre fadir Abraham fro the coostis of Mesopotanye, and Y brouyte hym in to the lond of Canaan; and Y multipliede `the seed of hym,
૩પણ હું તમારા પિતા ઇબ્રાહિમને ફ્રાત નદીની પેલી પારથી કનાન દેશમાં દોરી લાવ્યો અને તેના દીકરા ઇસહાક દ્વારા મેં તેને ઘણાં સંતાનો આપ્યાં.
4 and Y yaf Isaac to hym; and eft Y yaf to Isaac, Jacob, and Esau, of whiche Y yaf to Esau the hil of Seir, to `haue in possessioun; forsothe Jacob and hise sones yeden doun in to Egipt.
૪મેં ઇસહાકને બે દીકરા યાકૂબ તથા એસાવ આપ્યાં. મેં વતન તરીકે એસાવને સેઈર પર્વતનો પ્રદેશ આપ્યો, પણ યાકૂબ અને તેના દીકરાઓ મિસરમાં જઈને રહ્યા.
5 And Y sente Moises and Aaron, and Y smoot Egipt with many signes and wondris,
૫પછી મેં મૂસાને તથા હારુનને મોકલ્યા અને મરકીથી મિસરીઓને મેં પીડિત કર્યા. ત્યાર પછી હું તમને ત્યાંથી બહાર કાઢી લાવ્યો.
6 and Y ledde you and youre fadris out of Egipt. And ye camen to the see, and Egipcians pursueden youre fadris with charis, and multitude of knyytis, `til to the Reed See.
૬હું તમારા પિતૃઓને મિસરમાંથી બહાર લાવ્યો. ચાલતા ચાલતા તમે સમુદ્ર સુધી આવી પહોંચ્યા. ત્યારે મિસરીઓ રથો તથા ઘોડેસવારો સાથે લાલ સમુદ્ર સુધી તમારા પિતૃઓની પાછળ ચડી આવ્યા.
7 Forsothe the sones of Israel crieden to the Lord, and he settide derknessis bitwixe you and Egipcians; and he brouyte the see on hem, and hilide hem. Youre iyen sien alle thingis, whiche Y dide in Egipt. And ye dwelliden in wildirnesse in myche tyme.
૭ત્યારે તમારા પૂર્વજોએ યહોવાહને પોકાર કર્યો, એટલે યહોવાહે તમારી તથા મિસરીઓની વચ્ચે અંધારપટ કર્યો. યહોવાહે તેઓ પર સમુદ્રનાં પાણી લાવીને તેઓને ડુબાવી દીધા. મેં મિસરમાં જે કર્યું તે તમે તમારી સગી આંખોએ જોયું છે. પછી તમે ઘણાં દિવસો સુધી અરણ્યમાં રહ્યા.
8 And Y brouyte you in to the lond of Ammorrei, that dwellide biyende Jordan; and whanne thei fouyten ayens you, Y bitook hem in to youre hondis, and ye hadden in possessioun `the lond of hem, and ye killiden hem.
૮જે અમોરીઓ યર્દનની પેલી બાજુ વસેલા હતા, તેઓના દેશમાં હું તમને લાવ્યો. તેઓએ તમારી સાથે યુદ્ધ કર્યું. અને મેં તેઓને તમારા હાથમાં સોંપી દીધા. તમે તેઓના દેશ કબજે કરી લીધો. અને મેં તમારી આગળ તેઓનો સંહાર કર્યો.
9 Sotheli Balach, the sone of Sephor, the king of Moab, roos, and fauyt ayens Israel; and he sente, and clepide Balaam, the sone of Beor, that he schulde curse you.
૯પછી મોઆબના રાજા સિપ્પોરના દીકરા બાલાકે ઊઠીને ઇઝરાયલની સાથે યુદ્ધ કર્યું. તેણે તમને શાપ દેવા સારુ બેઓરના દીકરા બલામને બોલાવી મંગાવ્યો.
10 And Y nolde here hym, but ayenward bi hym Y blesside you, and delyuerede you fro hise hondis.
૧૦પણ મેં બલામનું સાંભળ્યું નહિ. તેથી તેણે તમને આશીર્વાદ આપ્યો હતો. આ રીતે મેં તમને તેના હાથમાંથી છોડાવ્યાં.
11 And ye passiden Jordan, and camen to Jerico; and men of that citee fouyten ayens you, Ammorrei, and Feresei, and Cananei, Ethei, and Gergesei, and Euei, and Jebusei; and Y bitook hem in to youre hondis.
૧૧પછી તમે યર્દનથી પાર ઊતરીને યરીખો પાસે આવ્યા. ત્યારે યરીખોના આગેવાનો, અમોરી, પરિઝી, કનાની, હિત્તી, ગિર્ગાશી, હિવ્વી અને યબૂસી લોકોએ તમારી સાથે યુદ્ધ કર્યું. મેં તમને તેઓના પર વિજય આપ્યો અને તેઓને તમારા નિયંત્રણમાં સોંપી દીધા.
12 And Y sente flies with venemouse tongis bifor you, and Y castide hem out of her places; Y kyllide twei kyngis of Ammorreis, not in thi swerd and bowe.
૧૨વળી મેં તમારી આગળ ભમરીઓ મોકલી, તેઓએ અમોરીઓના બે રાજાઓને તમારી આગળથી નસાડી મૂક્યા. આ બધું કંઈ તમારી તલવારથી કે તમારા ધનુષ્યથી થયું નહોતું!
13 And Y yaf to you the lond in which ye traueiliden not, and citees whiche ye bildiden not, that ye schulden dwelle in tho, and vyneris, and places of olyue trees, whiche ye plauntiden not.
૧૩જે દેશ માટે તમે શ્રમ કર્યો નહોતો અને જે નગરો તમે બાંધ્યા નહોતાં તે મેં તમને આપ્યાં છે, હવે તમે તેમાં રહો છો. જે દ્રાક્ષવાડીઓ તથા જૈતૂનવાડીઓ તમે રોપી નહોતી તેઓનાં ફળ તમે ખાઓ છો.’”
14 Now therfor drede ye the Lord, and serue ye hym with perfite herte and moost trewe; and do ye awei the goddis, to whiche youre fadris seruyden in Mesopotanye, and in Egipt; and serue ye the Lord.
૧૪તો હવે યહોવાહનું ભય રાખો અને સંપૂર્ણ પ્રામાણિકતાથી અને સત્યતાથી તેમની આરાધના કરો; ફ્રાત નદીની પેલી બાજુ અને મિસરમાં તમારા પૂર્વજો જે દેવોની પૂજાભક્તિ કરતા હતા તે દેવોથી છુટકારો મેળવીને, યહોવાહની આરાધના કરો.
15 But if it semeth yuel to you, `that ye serue the Lord, chesyng is youun to you; chese ye to you to dai that, that plesith, whom ye owen most to serue; whether to goddis, whiche youre fadris serueden in Mesopotanye, whether to the goddis of Ammorreis, in whose lond ye dwellen; forsothe Y, and myn hows schulen serue the Lord.
૧૫જો તમારી દ્રષ્ટિમાં યહોવાહની આરાધના કરવી એ અયોગ્ય લાગતું હોય, તો આજે તમે પોતે નક્કી કરો કે તમે કોની સેવા કરશો? ફ્રાત નદીની પેલી પાર રહેતા તમારા પૂર્વજોના દેવોની અથવા જે અમોરીઓના દેશમાં તમે રહો છો તેઓના દેવોની તમે પૂજાભક્તિ કરશો? પણ હું અને મારું કુટુંબ તો યહોવાહની જ સેવા કરીશું.
16 And al the puple answeride and seide, Fer be it fro vs that we forsake the Lord, and serue alien goddis.
૧૬લોકોએ જવાબ આપીને કહ્યું, “અન્ય દેવોની સેવાને માટે અમે યહોવાહને તજી દઈએ એવું પ્રભુ કદીય થવા ન દો.
17 `Oure Lord God hym silf ledde vs and oure fadris out of the lond of Egipt, fro the hows of seruage, and dide grete signes in oure siyt; and he kepte vs in al the weie, bi which we yeden, and in alle puplis, bi whiche we passiden; and he castide out alle folkis,
૧૭કેમ કે જે પ્રભુ યહોવાહ અમને અને અમારા પૂર્વજોને મિસર દેશમાંથી, ગુલામીના ઘરમાંથી બહાર કાઢી લાવ્યા, જેમણે અમારા દેખતાં અદ્દભુત ચમત્કારો કર્યા, અમે જે રસ્તે ચાલ્યા તેમાં તથા જે સર્વ દેશોમાં થઈને અમે પસાર થયા ત્યાં અમારું રક્ષણ કર્યું તે જ યહોવાહ અમારા પ્રભુ છે.
18 Ammorrei, the dwellere of the lond, in to which we entriden. Therfor we schulen serue the Lord, for he is `oure Lord God.
૧૮યહોવાહે તે દેશમાં રહેનારા સર્વ અમોરી લોકોને અમારી આગળથી કાઢી મૂક્યા છે. તેથી અમે પણ યહોવાહની સેવા કરીશું, કેમ કે તે જ અમારા યહોવાહ છે.”
19 And Josue seide to the puple, Ye moun not serue the Lord; for God is hooli, and a strong feruent louyere, and he foryyueth not youre trespassis and synnes.
૧૯પણ યહોશુઆએ લોકોને કહ્યું, “તમે યહોવાહની સેવા કરી શકશો નહિ, કેમ કે તે પવિત્ર ઈશ્વર છે; તે આવેશી યહોવાહ છે; તે તમારાં ઉલ્લંઘનો અને તમારા પાપોની ક્ષમા કરશે નહિ.
20 If ye forsaken the Lord, and seruen alien goddis, the Lord schal turne `hym silf, and schal turment you, and schal distrie, after that he hath youe goodis to you.
૨૦જો તમે તમારા યહોવાહને ત્યજીને વિદેશીઓના દેવોની ઉપાસના કરશો, તો તેઓ તમારું સારું કર્યા પછી, તમારી વિરુદ્ધ થઈને તમારું અહિત કરશે. તમને નષ્ટ કરી નાખશે.”
21 And the puple seide to Josue, It schal not be so, as thou spekist, but we schulen serue the Lord.
૨૧પણ લોકોએ યહોશુઆને કહ્યું, “એવું નહિ બને. અમે તો યહોવાહની જ આરાધના કરીશું.”
22 And Josue seide to the puple, Ye ben witnessis, that ye han chose the Lord to you, that ye serue him. And thei answeriden, We ben witnessis.
૨૨પછી યહોશુઆએ લોકોને કહ્યું, “તમે પોત પોતાના માટે સાક્ષી છો કે તમે જાતે યહોવાહની આરાધના કરવાને સારુ તેમને પસંદ કર્યા છે.” તેઓએ કહ્યું, “અમે સાક્ષી છીએ.”
23 Therfor, he seide, Now do ye awei alien goddis fro the myddis of you, and bowe ye youre hertis to the Lord God of Israel.
૨૩યહોશુઆએ કહ્યું, “તો હવે તમારી સાથે જે અન્ય દેવો છે તેને દૂર કરો, અને તમારું હૃદય ઇઝરાયલના પ્રભુ યહોવાહ તરફ વાળો.”
24 And the puple seide to Josue, We schulen serue `oure Lord God, and we schulen be obedient to hise heestis.
૨૪લોકોએ યહોશુઆને કહ્યું, “આપણા પ્રભુ યહોવાહની જ સેવા અમે કરીશું. તેમની જ વાણી અમે સાંભળીશું.”
25 Therfor Josue smoot a boond of pees in that dai, and settide forth to the puple comaundementis and domes in Sichen.
૨૫તે દિવસે યહોશુઆએ લોકો સાથે કરાર કર્યો. તેણે શખેમમાં તેઓને માટે વિધિઓ અને નિયમો નિયત કર્યા.
26 And he wroot alle these wordis in the book of Goddis lawe. And he took a greet stoon, and puttide it vndur an ook, that was in the seyntuarie of the Lord.
૨૬પછી યહોશુઆએ આ વાતો યહોવાહનાં નિયમશાસ્ત્રના પુસ્તકમાં લખી. તેણે મોટો પથ્થર લીધો અને યહોવાહનાં પવિત્રસ્થાનની બાજુમાં એલોન વૃક્ષની નીચે તેને સ્થાપિત કર્યો.
27 And he seide to al the puple, Lo! this stoon schal be to you in to witnessing, that ye herden alle the wordis of the Lord, whiche he spak to you, lest perauenture ye wolden denye aftirward, and lye to youre Lord God.
૨૭યહોશુઆએ સર્વ લોકોને કહ્યું, “જુઓ, આ પથ્થર આપણી મધ્યે સાક્ષી થશે. કેમ કે યહોવાહે જે વાતો આપણને કહી તે સર્વ તેણે સાંભળી છે. માટે તે તમારી વિરુદ્ધ સાક્ષી થશે, રખેને તમે તમારા યહોવાહનો ઇનકાર કરો.
28 And he lefte the puple, ech man in to his possessioun.
૨૮પછી યહોશુઆએ પ્રત્યેક માણસને, તેઓના વારસાના વતનમાં મોકલી દીધા.
29 And after these thingis Josue, the sone of Nun, the `seruaunt of the Lord, diede, an hundride yeer eld and ten.
૨૯આ બિનાઓ બન્યા પછી, નૂનનો પુત્ર યહોશુઆ જે યહોવાહનો સેવક હતો તે એકસો દસ વર્ષની વયે મરણ પામ્યો.
30 And thei birieden hym in the costis of his possessioun, in Thannath of Sare, which is set in the hil of Effraym, fro the north part of the hil Gaas.
૩૦તેઓએ તેના વતનની હદમાં, ગાઆશ પર્વતની ઉત્તરે, એફ્રાઇમનાં પહાડી પ્રદેશમાં, જે તિમ્નાથ-સેરા છે, તેમાં તેને દફ્નાવ્યો.
31 And Israel seruede the Lord in alle the daies of Josue, and of the eldre men, that lyueden in long tyme aftir Josue, and whiche eldre men knewen alle the werkis of the Lord, whiche he hadde do in Israel.
૩૧તે સર્વ દિવસોમાં જે વડીલો યહોશુઆની આખી જિંદગી સુધી અને તેના પછી જીવતા રહ્યા હતા અને યહોવાહે ઇઝરાયલ માટે જે સર્વ કર્યું હતું તેનો અનુભવ કર્યો, તેઓના જીવન પર્યંત ઇઝરાયલે યહોવાહની સેવા કરી.
32 Also `the sones of Israel birieden the boonys of Joseph, whiche thei baren fro Egipt in Sichen, in the part of the feeld, which feeld Jacob bouyte of the sones of Emor, fadir of Sichen, for an hundrid yonge scheep; and it was in to possessioun of the sones of Joseph.
૩૨યૂસફના જે અસ્થિ ઇઝરાયલના લોકો મિસરમાંથી બહાર લાવ્યા હતા તેને તેઓએ શખેમમાં, જમીનનો જે ટુકડો યાકૂબે ચાંદીના સો સિક્કાની કિંમત આપીને શખેમના પિતા હમોરના દીકરાઓ પાસેથી વેચાતો લીધો હતો તેમાં દફનાવ્યાં. અને તે યૂસફના વંશજોનું વતન થયું.
33 Also Eliazar, sone of Aaron, preest, diede; and Fynees and hise sones biryden hym in Gabaa, which was youun to hym in the hil of Efraym.
૩૩હારુનનો પુત્ર એલાઝાર પણ મરણ પામ્યો. તેઓએ તેના પુત્ર ફીનહાસને એફ્રાઇમનાં પહાડી પ્રદેશમાં જે ગિબ્યા નગર અપાયેલું હતું તેમાં દફ્નાવ્યો.
