Joshua 23
1 Forsothe whanne myche tyme was passid after that the Lord had youe pees to Israel, for alle naciouns `in cumpas weren suget; and whanne Josue was thanne of long lijf, and `of ful eld age, Josue clepide al Israel,
૧અને ઘણાં દિવસો પછી, યહોવાહે જયારે ઇઝરાયલને તેઓના ચારેબાજુના સર્વ શત્રુઓથી સલામતી બક્ષી, ત્યારે યહોશુઆ ઘણો વૃદ્ધ થયો હતો.
2 and the grettere men in birthe, and the princes, and dukis, and maistris, and seide to hem, Y `wexide elde, and Y am of grettere age;
૨યહોશુઆએ સર્વ ઇઝરાયલ, તેઓના વડીલો, તેઓના આગેવાનો, તેઓના ન્યાયાધીશો અને અધિકારીઓને બોલાવ્યા અને તેઓને કહ્યું, “હું ઘણો વૃદ્ધ થયો છું.
3 and ye seen alle thingis whiche youre Lord God hath do to alle naciouns `bi cumpas, hou he fauyt for you.
૩આ સર્વ દેશજાતિઓ સાથે યહોવાહ, તમારા પ્રભુએ તમારે માટે જે કર્યું, તે સર્વ તમે જોયું છે, કેમ કે યહોવાહ, તમારા પ્રભુએ, પોતે જ તમારે માટે યુદ્ધ કર્યું છે.
4 And now for he departide to you bi lot al the lond, fro the eest part of Jordan `til to the grete see, and many naciouns ben left yit,
૪જુઓ જે દેશો તમારાં કુળો માટે જીતવામાં આવ્યા છે અને યર્દનથી પશ્ચિમમાં મોટા સમુદ્ર સુધી જે દેશોનો અને દેશજાતિઓનો મેં અગાઉથી જ નાશ કર્યો હતો, તે મેં તમને વારસા તરીકે આપ્યાં છે.
5 youre Lord God `schal distrie hem, and schal take awei fro youre face; and ye schulen welde the lond, as he bihiyte to you.
૫યહોવાહ તમારા પ્રભુ એ દેશજાતિઓને તમારી આગળથી કાઢી મૂકશે. તે તેઓનું પતન કરશે. તેમની જમીનને જપ્ત કરશે અને જેમ યહોવાહ તમારા પ્રભુએ તમને વચન આપ્યુ હતું તેમ, તમે તેમનો દેશ કબજે કરશો.
6 Oneli be ye coumfortid, and be ye bisy, that ye kepe alle thingis that ben writun in the book of Moises lawe, and bowe not awei fro tho, nether to the riyt side nether to the left side,
૬તેથી મૂસાના નિયમશાસ્ત્રના પુસ્તકમાં જે લખ્યું છે, તે સઘળું પાળવાને તથા અમલ કરવાને માટે તમે ઘણાં બળવાન તથા હિંમતવાન થાઓ કે તેમાંથી જમણે કે ડાબે હાથે ફરો નહિ.
7 lest aftir that ye han entrid to the hethene men, that schulen be among you, ye swere in the name of `the goddis of hem, and ye serue tho goddis, and worschipe hem.
૭તમારી મધ્યે આ જે દેશજાતિઓ રહેલી છે, તેઓ સાથે ભળી જશો નહિ, કે તેઓના દેવોના નામોનો ઉચ્ચાર કરશો નહિ કે તેઓના સોગન ખાશો નહિ, તેઓની પૂજા પણ કરશો નહિ, તેઓને પગે લાગશો નહિ.
8 But cleue ye to youre Lord God, which thing ye han do `til in to this dai;
૮પરંતુ તેને બદલે, જેમ આજ દિન સુધી તમે કરતા આવ્યા છો તેમ, પોતાના યહોવાહ, પ્રભુ સાથે દ્રઢ સંબંધમાં રહો.
9 and thanne the Lord God schal do awei in youre siyt grete folkis, and strongeste; and noon schal mow ayenstonde you.
૯કેમ કે યહોવાહે તમારી આગળથી મોટી અને પરાક્રમી દેશજાતિઓને નસાડી મૂકી છે. તમારા માટે, તમારી સામે આજ દિન સુધી કોઈ ટકવાને સમર્થ રહ્યું નથી.
10 Oon of you schal pursue a thousynde men of enemyes, for youre Lord God schal fiyte for you, as he bihiyte.
૧૦તમારામાંનો એક માણસ હજારને ભારે પડતો હતો. કેમ કે તમારા યહોવાહ, પ્રભુએ, જેમ તમને વચન આપ્યુ હતું તેમ, તે પોતે તમારે સારુ યુદ્ધ કરે છે.
11 Be ye war bifore moost diligentli of this thing oneli, that ye loue youre Lord God.
૧૧માટે તમારા યહોવાહ, પ્રભુ પર પ્રેમ રાખવા માટે વિશેષ ધ્યાન રાખો.
12 That if ye wolen cleue to the errouris of these folkis that dwellen among you, and wolen medle mariagis with hem, and couple frenschipis,
૧૨કેમ કે જો તમે કોઈ રીતે પાછા હઠશો, તમારી પાસે જે દેશજાતિઓ બાકી રહેલી છે તેઓની સાથે વ્યવહાર રાખશો અને તેઓની સાથે લગ્નસંબંધ બાંધીને ભળી જશો,
13 wite ye riyt now, that `youre Lord God schal not do awei hem bifor youre face, but thei schulen be to you in to a dich, and a snare, and in to hirtyng of youre side, and in to stakis in youre iyen, til youre Lord God take awei you, and distrie fro this beste loond, which he yaf to you.
૧૩તો પછી નિશ્ચે જાણજો કે, તમારા યહોવાહ પ્રભુ હવે પછી આ દેશજાતિઓને તમારી આગળથી દૂર કરશે નહિ. આ સારી જમીન કે જે તમારા યહોવાહ, પ્રભુએ તમને આપી છે તેમાંથી તમારો નાશ થઈ જાય ત્યાં સુધી એ લોકો તમારા માટે જાળ અને ફાંદારૂપ તથા, તમારી પીઠ પર ફટકારૂપ અને આંખોમાં કાંટારૂપ થઈ પડશે.
14 Lo! Y entre to dai in to the weye of al erthe; and ye schulen knowe `with al soule, that of al wordis whiche the Lord bihiyte hym silf to yyue to you, not oon passide in veyn.
૧૪અને હવે, હું પૃથ્વીના સર્વ લોકો માટે ઠરાવેલા માર્ગે જાઉં છું, તમારા અંતઃકરણમાં તથા આત્મામાં તમે નિશ્ચે જાણો છો કે, જે સારાં વચનો તમારા યહોવાહ પ્રભુએ તમારા વિષે કહ્યાં તેમાંનું એકેય વચન નિષ્ફળ ગયું નથી. પણ એ વચનો પૂર્ણ થયાં છે.
15 Therfor as he fillide in werk that, that he bihiyte, and alle thingis bifelden `bi prosperite, so he schal brynge on you whateuer thing of yuelis he manaasside, til he take awei you, and distrie fro this beste lond, which he yaf to you.
૧૫પણ જેમ તમારા યહોવાહ પ્રભુએ તમને આપેલા સર્વ સારાં વચન તમારા પ્રત્યે ફળીભૂત થયાં, તેમ, આ જે સારી જમીન તમારા યહોવાહ પ્રભુએ તમને આપી છે, તેના પરથી તમારો નાશ થતાં સુધી યહોવાહ તમારા પર સર્વ વિપત્તિઓ લાવે એવું પણ બનશે.
16 For ye braken the couenaunt of `youre Lord God, which he made with you, and serueden alien goddis, and worschipeden hem, sone and swiftli the strong veniaunce of the Lord schal rise `on to you; and ye schulen be takun awei fro this beste lond, which he yaf to you.
૧૬તમારા યહોવાહ પ્રભુએ જે કરાર, જે આજ્ઞા તમને આપી છે, તેનું જો તમે પાલન નહિ કરો અને બીજા દેવોની પૂજા કરશો, તેઓને પગે લાગશો, તો પછી તમારા ઉપર યહોવાહનો કોપ ભભૂકી ઊઠશે. અને જે સારો દેશ તેમણે તમને આપ્યો છે, તેમાંથી તમે નષ્ટ થઈ જશો.”
