Joshua 10
1 And whanne Adonysedech, kyng of Jerusalem, hadde herde these thingis, that is, that Josue hadde take Hai, and hadde destried it; for as Josue hadde do to Jerico and to the kyng therof, so he dide to Hay, and to the kyng therof; and that Gabaonytis hadden fled to Israel, and weren boundun in pees with hem,
Khi A-đô-ni-Xê-đéc, vua Giê-ru-sa-lem, hay rằng Giô-suê đã chiếm lấy thành A-hi, và tận diệt nó đi, đãi thành A-hi và vua nó như người đã đãi Giê-ri-cô và vua nó, lại hay rằng dân Ga-ba-ôn đã lập hòa với dân Y-sơ-ra-ên và ở cùng họ,
2 Adonysedech dredde greetli; for Gabaon was a greet citee, and oon of the kyngis citees, and grettere than the citee of Hai, and alle the fiyteris therof weren most stronge.
thì người lấy làm sợ hãi lắm; vì Ga-ba-ôn là một thành lớn, một đế đô thật; lại lớn hơn thành A-hi, và cả dân sự nó đều là người mạnh dạn.
3 Therfor Adonysedech, kyng of Jerusalem, sente to Ocham, kyng of Ebron, and to Pharam, kyng of Herymoth, and to Japhie, kyng of Lachis, and to Dabir, kyng of Eglon, and seide,
Vậy, A-đô-ni-Xê-đéc, vua thành Giê-ru-sa-lem, sai người đi nói cùng Hô-ham, vua Hếp-rôn, cùng Phi-ram, vua Giạt-mút, cùng Gia-phia, vua La-ki, cùng Đê-bia, vua Eùc-lôn, mà rằng:
4 Stie ye to me, and helpe ye, that we fiyte ayens Gabaon, for it was yoldun to Josue, and to the sones of Israel.
Hãy đi lên đến ta mà tiếp cứu ta, và đánh thành Ga-ba-ôn; vì nó đã lập hòa cùng Giô-suê và dân Y-sơ-ra-ên.
5 Therfor fyue kyngis of Ammorreis, the kyng of Jerusalem, the kyng of Ebron, the kyng of Herymoth, the kyng of Lachis, the kyng of Eglon, weren gaderid, and stieden togidere with her oostis; and settiden tentis ayens Gabaon, and fouyten ayens it.
Vậy, năm vua A-mô-rít, tức là vua Giê-ru-sa-lem, vua Hếp-rôn, vua Giạt-mút, vua La-ki, và vua Eùc-lôn nhóm hiệp, kéo lên cùng hết thảy quân lính mình, đóng trại trước Ga-ba-ôn, và hãm đánh thành.
6 Sotheli the dwelleris of the citee of Gabaon, `that weren bisegid, senten to Josue, that dwellide than in tentis at Galgala, and seide to hym, Withdrawe not thin hondis fro the help of thi seruauntis; `stie thou soone, and delyuere vs, and helpe thou; for alle the kyngis of Amorreis, that dwelliden in the hilli places, camen togidere ayens vs.
Người Ga-ba-ôn sai kẻ đến nói cùng Giô-suê tại trại quân Ghinh-ganh, mà rằng: Xin chớ bỏ tôi tớ ông; hãy mau lên đến cùng chúng tôi, giải thoát và tiếp cứu chúng tôi vì hết thảy vua A-mô-rít trong núi đã hiệp lại nghịch chúng tôi.
7 And Josue stiede fro Galgala, and al the oost of fiyters, `the strengeste men, `with hym.
Vậy, Giô-suê ở Ghinh-ganh đi lên với hết thảy quân lính và những người mạnh dạn.
8 And the Lord seide to Josue, Drede thou not hem, for Y yaf hem in to thin hondis; noon of hem schal mow ayenstonde thee.
Đức Giê-hô-va phán cùng Giô-suê rằng: Chớ sợ, vì ta đã phó chúng nó vào tay ngươi, chẳng còn một ai đứng nổi trước mặt ngươi được.
9 Therfor Josue felde sodenli on hem, and stiede in al the nyyt fro Galgala;
Vậy, Giô-suê ở Ghinh-ganh đi trọn đêm, rồi chợt đến áp chúng nó.
10 and the Lord `disturblide hem fro the face of Israel, and al to-brak with greet veniaunce in Gabaon. And Josue pursuede hem bi the weie of the stiyng of Betheron, and smoot `til to Azecha and Maceda.
Đức Giê-hô-va làm cho chúng nó vỡ chạy trước mặt Y-sơ-ra-ên, khiến cho bị đại bại gần Ga-ba-ôn; Y-sơ-ra-ên rượt đuổi chúng nó theo đường dốc Bết-Hô-rôn, và đánh họ cho đến A-xê-ca và Ma-kê-đa.
11 And whanne thei fledden the sones of Israel, and weren in the goyng doun of Betheron, the Lord sente grete stoonus on hem fro heuene, til to Azecha; and many mo weren deed bi the `stoonys of hail, than thei whiche the sones of Israel `smytiden bi swerd.
Khi chúng nó chạy trốn trước mặt Y-sơ-ra-ên và xuống dốc Bết-Hô-rôn, thì Đức Giê-hô-va khiến đá lớn từ trời rớt xuống cả đường cho đến A-xê-ca, và chúng nó đều bị chết. Số những người bị chết về mưa đá nhiều hơn số những người bị dân Y-sơ-ra-ên giết bằng gươm.
12 Thanne Josue spak to the Lord, in the dai in which he bitook Amorrey in the siyt of the sones of Israel; and Josue seide bifore hem, Sunne, be thou not mouyd ayens Gabaon, and the moone ayens the valei of Hailon.
Ngày mà Đức Giê-hô-va phó dân A-mô-rít cho dân Y-sơ-ra-ên, thì Giô-suê thưa cùng Đức Giê-hô-va tại trước mặt Y-sơ-ra-ên, mà rằng: Hỡi mặt trời, hãy dừng lại trên Ga-ba-ôn; Hỡi mặt trăng, hãy ngừng lại trên trũng A-gia-lôn!
13 And the sunne and the moone stoden, til the folc of God vengide it silf of hise enemyes. Whether this is not writun in the book of iust men? And so the sunne stood in the myddis of heuene, and hastide not to go doun in the space of o dai; so long a dai was not bifore and aftirward;
Mặt trời bèn dừng, mặt trăng liền ngừng, Cho đến chừng dân sự đã báo thù quân nghịch mình. Điều đó há không có chép trong sách Gia-sa sao? Mặt trời dừng lại giữa trời, và không vội lặn ước một ngày trọn.
14 for the Lord obeiede to the vois of man, and fauyt for Israel.
Từ trước và về sau, chẳng hề có ngày nào như ngày đó, là ngày Đức Giê-hô-va có nhậm lời của một loài người; vì Đức Giê-hô-va chiến cự cho dân Y-sơ-ra-ên.
15 And Josue turnede ayen, with al Israel, in to the tentis of Galgala.
Rồi Giô-suê và cả Y-sơ-ra-ên trở về trại quân Ghinh-ganh.
16 Forsothe fyue kyngis fledden, and hidden hem silf in the denne of the citee of Maceda.
Vả, năm vua kia đã chạy trốn, và ẩn trong một hang đá tại Ma-kê-đa.
17 And it was teld to Josue, that fyue kyngis weren foundun hid in the denne of the citee of Maceda.
Có người thuật cho Giô-suê hay điều đó, mà rằng: Người ta có gặp năm vua núp trong một hang đá tại Ma-kê-đa.
18 Which Josue comaundide to felowis, and seide, Walewe ye grete stoonus to the `mouth of the denne, and putte ye witti men, that schulen kepe the closid kyngis; sotheli nyle ye stonde,
Giô-suê bèn dạy rằng: Hãy lăn đá lớn lấp miệng hang lại, và cắt người canh giữ.
19 but pursue ye the enemyes, and slee ye alle the laste of fleeris; and suffre ye not hem entre in to the strengthis of her citees, whiche enemyes youre Lord God bitook in to youre hondis.
Còn các ngươi chớ dừng lại, phải rượt theo quân nghịch, xông đánh phía sau; đừng để chúng nó vào thành chúng nó; vì Giê-hô-va Đức Chúa Trời các ngươi đã phó chúng nó vào tay các ngươi.
20 Therfor whanne the aduersaries weren betun with greet veniaunce, and weren almost wastid `til to deeth, thei that myyten fle Israel, entriden in to the strengthid citees.
Khi Giô-suê và dân Y-sơ-ra-ên đã đánh chúng nó bị bại rất lớn, cho đến nỗi tuyệt diệt đi, và khi những người trong chúng nó đã được thoát khỏi, rút ở lại trong thành kiên cố,
21 And al the oost turnede ayen hoole, and in hoole noumbre to Josue, in to Maceda, where the tentis weren thanne; and no man was hardi to grutche, `ether to make priuy noise, ayens the sones of Israel.
thì cả dân sự trở về với Giô-suê bình yên nơi trại quân tại Ma-kê-đa, chẳng một ai dám khua môi nghịch cùng dân Y-sơ-ra-ên.
22 And Josue comaundide, and seide, Opene ye the `mouth of the denne, and brynge forth to me the fyue kyngis that ben hid therynne.
Bấy giờ, Giô-suê nói rằng: Hãy mở miệng hang, đem năm vua đó ra, rồi dẫn đến cho ta.
23 And the mynystris diden, as it was comaundid to hem; and thei brouyten forth to Josue fyue kyngis fro the denne; the kyng of Jerusalem, the kyng of Ebron, the kyng of Herymoth, the kyng of Lachis, the kyng of Eglon.
Họ làm như vậy, đưa năm vua ra khỏi hang đá, và dẫn đến cho người, tức là vua Giê-ru-sa-lem, vua Hếp-rôn, vua Giạt-mút, vua La-ki, và vua Eùc-lôn.
24 And whanne thei weren led out to Josue, he clepide alle the men of Israel, and seide to the princes of the oost, that weren with hym, Go ye, and sette youre feet on the neckis of these kyngis. And whanne thei hadden go, and trediden the neckis of `the kyngis suget `to her feet,
Khi họ đã dẫn năm vua này đến cùng Giô-suê, thì Giô-suê gọi hết thảy người nam của Y-sơ-ra-ên, và nói cùng các binh tướng đã đi với mình, mà rằng: Hãy lại gần, đạp chân lên cổ của các vua này. Họ bèn đến gần, đạp chân trên cổ các vua ấy.
25 eft Josue seide to hem, Nyle ye drede, nethir `drede ye with ynne, be ye coumfortid, and be ye stronge; for the Lord schal do so to alle youre enemyes, ayens whiche ye schulen fiyte.
Đoạn, Giô-suê nói cùng họ rằng: Chớ ngại, và chớ kinh khủng; khá vững lòng bền chí, vì Đức Giê-hô-va sẽ làm như vậy cho hết thảy thù nghịch các ngươi, mà các ngươi sẽ chiến cự.
26 And Josue smoot, and killide hem, and hangide on fyue trees; and thei weren hangid `til to euentid.
Sau rồi, Giô-suê đánh giết các vua ấy, biểu đem treo trên năm cây; năm vua ấy bị treo trên cây cho đến chiều tối.
27 And whanne the sunne yede doun, he comaundide to felowis, that thei schulden put hem doun fro the iebatis; and whanne thei weren put doun, thei `castiden forth hem in to the denne, in which thei weren hid; and thei puttiden grete stoonus on the mouth therof, whiche stoonus dwellen `til to present tyme.
Khi mặt trời chen lặn, Giô-suê biểu người ta hạ thây xuống khỏi cây; họ liệng những thây trong hang đá, là chỗ các vua ấy đã núp, rồi lấy những đá lớn lấp miệng hang lại, hãy còn cho đến ngày nay.
28 In the same dai Josue took also Maceda, and smoot bi the scharpnesse of swerd, and killide the kyng therof, and alle the dwelleris therof; he lefte not therynne, nameli, litle relikis; and he dide to the kyng of Maceda as he hadde do to the kyng of Jerico.
Trong ngày đó, Giô-suê cũng chiếm lấy Ma-kê-đa, và dùng lưỡi gươm giết cả thành cùng vua nó. Người tận diệt thành, luôn hết thảy kẻ ở trong, không để thoát một ai. Người đãi vua Ma-kê-đa như đã đãi vua Giê-ri-cô.
29 Forsothe Josue passide with al Israel fro Maceda in to Lempna, and fauyt ayens it,
Đoạn, Giô-suê cùng cả Y-sơ-ra-ên ở Ma-kê-đa đi qua Líp-na, và hãm đánh Líp-na.
30 which the Lord bitook, with the kyng therof, in the hond of Israel; and thei smytiden the citee bi the scharpnesse of swerd, and alle the dwelleris therof, and leften not ony relikis therynne; and thei diden to the kyng of Lempna as thei hadden do to the kyng of Jerico.
Đức Giê-hô-va cũng phó Líp-na cùng vua nó vào tay Y-sơ-ra-ên; họ dùng lưỡi gươm diệt thành, luôn hết thảy kẻ ở trong đó, chẳng để thoát một ai. Người đãi vua thành này y như đã đãi vua Giê-ri-cô vậy.
31 Fro Lempna he passide with al Israel in to Lachis; and whanne the oost was disposid bi cumpas, he fauyt ayens it.
Kế ấy, Giô-suê cùng cả Y-sơ-ra-ên ở Líp-na đi qua La-ki, đóng trại đối cùng thành, và hãm đánh nó.
32 And the Lord bitook Lachis in the hond of the sones of Israel; and he took it in the tothir dai, and smoot bi the scharpnesse of swerd, and ech man, that was therynne, as he hadde do to Lempna.
Đức Giê-hô-va phó La-ki vào tay Y-sơ-ra-ên; ngày thứ hai họ chiếm lấy thành, dùng lưỡi gươm diệt thành với những người ở trong, cũng y như đã làm cho Líp-na vậy.
33 In that time Yram, kyng of Gazar, stiede to helpe Lachis; whom Josue smoot, with al his puple, til to deeth.
Bấy giờ, Hô-ram, vua Ghê-xe, đi lên tiếp cứu La-ki; Giô-suê đánh bại người và dân sự người, đến đỗi không còn để ai thoát khỏi.
34 And he passide fro Lachis in to Eglon,
Đoạn, Giô-suê cùng Y-sơ-ra-ên ở La-ki đi qua Eùc-lôn, đóng trại đối ngang thành, và hãm đánh nó.
35 and cumpasside, and ouercam it in the same dai; and he smoot bi the scharpnesse of swerd alle men that weren therynne, bi alle thingis whiche he hadde do to Lachis.
Chính ngày đó, họ chiếm lấy thành, dùng lưỡi gươm diệt nó đi. Trong ngày đó, Giô-suê tận diệt thành với hết thảy người ở trong đó, y như người đã làm cho La-ki vậy.
36 Also he stiede with al Israel fro Eglon in to Ebron, and fauyt ayens it,
Kế đó, Giô-suê cùng cả Y-sơ-ra-ên từ Eùc-lôn đi lên Hếp-rôn, và hãm đánh nó.
37 and took, and smoot bi the scharpnesse of swerd; and the kyng therof, and alle citees of that cuntrey, and alle men that dwelliden therynne; he lefte not ony relikis therynne; as he hadde do to Eglon so he dide also to Ebron, and wastide bi swerd alle thingis that weren therynne.
Họ chiếm lấy thành, dùng lưỡi gươm diệt thành, vua, các hương thôn nó, và mọi người ở trong đó, không để thoát khỏi một ai, cũng y như người đã làm cho Eùc-lôn vậy; người tận diệt thành và các người ở trong.
38 Fro thennus he turnyde in to Dabir, and took it, and wastide;
Đoạn, Giô-suê cùng cả Y-sơ-ra-ên đi đến Đê-bia, và hãm đánh nó.
39 and he smoot bi the scharpnesse of swerd the kyng therof, and alle tounnes `bi cumpas; he lefte not ony relikis therynne; as he hadde do to Ebron, and to Lempna, and to `the kyngis of tho, so he dide to Dabir, and to the kyng therof.
Người chiếm lấy thành và hương thôn nó, cùng bắt vua, dùng lưỡi gươm diệt thành, và tận diệt hết thảy những người ở trong, không để thoát khỏi một ai. Người đãi Đê-bia và vua nó, y như đã đãi Hếp-rôn, đãi Líp-na và vua nó.
40 And so Josue smoot al the `lond of the hillis, and of the south, and `of the feeld, and Asedoch with her kyngis; he lefte not therynne ony relikis, but he killide al thing that myyte brethe, as the Lord God of Israel comaundide to hym;
Vậy, Giô-suê đánh toàn xứ, nào miền núi, nào miền nam, nào đồng bằng, nào những gò nỗng, và các vua mấy miền đó. Người không để thoát khỏi một ai hết; phàm vật có hơi thở thì người diệt hết đi, y như Giê-hô-va Đức Chúa Trời của Y-sơ-ra-ên đã truyền dặn.
41 fro Cades Barne `til to Gazan, and al the lond of Jesson, `til to Gabaon Josue took,
Aáy vậy, Giô-suê đánh các vua đó từ Ca-đe-Ba-nê-a cho đến Ga-xa, và toàn xứ Gô-sen cho đến Ga-ba-ôn.
42 and wastide with o fersnesse alle the kyngis, and `cuntreis of hem; for the Lord God of Israel fauyt for hym.
Qua một lượt thì Giô-suê bắt các vua này và chiếm lấy xứ họ, bởi vì Giê-hô-va Đức Chúa Trời của Y-sơ-ra-ên chinh chiến cho Y-sơ-ra-ên.
43 And he turnede ayen with al Israel to the place of tentis in Galgala.
Đoạn, Giô-suê và cả Y-sơ-ra-ên trở về trại quân ở Ghinh-ganh.
