John 7
1 Aftir these thingis Jhesus walkide in to Galilee, for he wolde not walke in to Judee, for the Jewis souyten to sle hym.
Após isso, Jesus passou seu tempo percorrendo a Galileia. Ele não queria ir para a Judeia, porque os judeus de lá queriam matá-lo.
2 And ther was neiy a feeste dai of the Jewis, Senofegia.
Mas, como já estava quase no dia da festa judaica das Tendas,
3 And hise britheren seiden to hym, Passe fro hennus, and go in to Judee, that also thi disciplis seen thi werkis that thou doist;
seus irmãos lhe disseram: “Você deveria ir para a Judeia; assim os seus seguidores poderão ver os milagres que você pode fazer.
4 for no man doith ony thing in hiddlis, and hym silf sekith to be opyn. If thou doist these thingis, schewe thi silf to the world.
As pessoas que querem ser reconhecidas não escondem o que podem fazer. Se você pode fazer milagres tão maravilhosos, então, mostre-se ao mundo!”
5 For nether hise britheren bileueden in hym.
Pois, até mesmo os irmãos de Jesus não acreditavam realmente nele.
6 Therfor Jhesus seith to hem, My tyme cam not yit, but youre tyme is euermore redi.
Jesus lhes disse: “Esta não é a hora certa para eu ir; ainda não. Mas, vocês podem ir quando quiserem, pois qualquer tempo é o certo para vocês.
7 The world may not hate you, sothely it hatith me; for Y bere witnessyng therof, that the werkis of it ben yuele.
O mundo não tem motivos para odiá-los, mas ele me odeia. E isso tudo por eu deixar claro que os caminhos do mundo são maus.
8 Go ye vp to this feeste dai, but Y schal not go vp to this feeste dai, for my tyme is not yit fulfillid.
Vão para a festa! Eu, por enquanto, não vou, porque esta não é a hora certa para mim.”
9 Whanne he hadde seid these thingis, he dwelte in Galilee.
Depois de dizer isso, Jesus ficou na Galileia.
10 And aftir that hise britheren weren gon vp, thanne he yede vp to the feeste dai, not opynli, but as in priuyte.
Após os seus irmãos saírem para ir à Festa das Tendas, Jesus também foi, mas, não abertamente e, sim, em segredo.
11 Therfor the Jewis souyten hym in the feeste dai, and seiden, Where is he?
Enquanto isso, na festa, os anciãos do povo estavam procurando Jesus e seguiam perguntando: “Onde ele está?”
12 And myche grutchyng was of hym among the puple. For summe seiden, That he is good; and othere seiden, Nai, but he disceyueth the puple;
Muitas pessoas na multidão estavam comentando a respeito dele. Algumas pessoas diziam: “Ele é um bom homem!” Mas, outras discordavam: “Não! Ele engana as pessoas.”
13 netheles no man spak opynli of hym, for drede of the Jewis.
Mas, ninguém se atrevia a falar abertamente sobre Jesus, porque eles tinham medo da reação dos anciãos do povo.
14 But whanne the myddil feeste dai cam, Jhesus wente vp in to the temple, and tauyte.
Quando a festa já estava na metade, Jesus foi para o Templo e começou a ensinar.
15 And the Jewis wondriden, and seiden, Hou can this man lettris, sithen he hath not lerned?
Os anciãos do povo ficaram muito surpresos e perguntaram: “Como esse homem tem tanto conhecimento, sendo que ele não estudou?”
16 Jhesus answerde to hem, and seide, My doctryne is not myn, but his that sente me.
Jesus respondeu: “O que eu ensino não vem de mim, mas daquele que me enviou.
17 If ony man wole do his wille, he schal knowe of the techyng, whethir it be of God, or Y speke of my silf.
Quem escolhe seguir a vontade de Deus saberá se o que eu ensino vem de Deus, ou se estou falando por mim mesmo.
18 He that spekith of hym silf, sekith his owne glorie; but he that sekith the glorie of hym that sente hym, is sothefast, and vnriytwisnesse is not in hym.
Aqueles que falam por si mesmos querem o próprio reconhecimento, mas, quem engrandece aquele que o enviou é verdadeiro e não mente.
19 Whether Moises yaf not to you a lawe, and noon of you doith the lawe?
Moisés não lhes deu a lei? No entanto, nenhum de vocês obedece à lei! Por que vocês estão tentando me matar?”
20 What seken ye to sle me? And the puple answerde, and seide, Thou hast a deuel; who sekith to sle thee?
A multidão respondeu: “Você está possuído pelo demônio! Ninguém está tentando matá-lo.”
21 Jhesus answerde, and seide to hem, Y haue don o werk, and alle ye wondren.
Jesus disse: “Vocês todos estão chocados por eu ter feito um milagre!
22 Therfor Moises yaf to you circumcisioun; not for it is of Moyses, but of the fadris; and in the sabat ye circumciden a man.
Entretanto, como Moisés lhes disse para fazer a circuncisão – não que isso realmente tenha vindo de Moisés, já que os seus antepassados faziam isso antes dele – vocês realizam a circuncisão até mesmo aos sábados.
23 If a man take circumcicioun in the sabat, that the lawe of Moises be not brokun, han ye indignacioun to me, for Y made al a man hool in the sabat?
Se vocês circuncidam aos sábados, para garantir que a lei de Moisés não seja quebrada, por que estão indignados contra mim por eu ter curado alguém no sábado?
24 Nile ye deme aftir the face, but deme ye a riytful doom.
Não julguem pelas aparências, e sim, com justiça!”
25 Therfor summe of Jerusalem seiden, Whethir this is not he, whom the Jewis seken to sle?
Então, algumas pessoas que vieram de Jerusalém começaram a se perguntar: “Não é este aquele a quem eles estão tentando matar?
26 and lo! he spekith opynli, and thei seien no thing to hym. Whether the princes knewen verili, that this is Crist?
Mas, vejam só! Ele está falando aqui na frente de todos, e eles não estão dizendo nada contra ele. Vocês acham que as autoridades acreditam que ele é o Messias?
27 But we knowun this man, of whennus he is; but whanne Crist schal come, no man woot of whennus he is.
Mas, isso é impossível, pois nós sabemos de onde ele é. Quando o Messias vier, ninguém saberá de onde ele vem.”
28 Therfor Jhesus criede in the temple `techynge, and seide, Ye knowen me, and `ye knowen of whennus Y am; and Y cam not of my silf, but he is trewe that sente me, whom ye knowen not.
Enquanto Jesus estava ensinando no Templo, ele falou bem alto: “Então, vocês acham mesmo que me conhecem e que sabem de onde eu vim? No entanto, eu não vim por mim mesmo. Aquele que me enviou é verdadeiro. Vocês não o conhecem,
29 Y knowe hym, and if Y seie that Y knowe hym not, Y schal be lijk to you, a liere; but Y knowe hym, for of hym Y am, and he sente me.
mas eu o conheço, pois eu venho dele e ele me enviou.”
30 Therfor thei souyten to take hym, and no man sette on hym hoondis, for his our cam not yit.
Então, eles tentaram prender Jesus, mas ninguém colocou as mãos nele, porque a sua hora ainda não havia chegado.
31 And many of the puple bileueden in hym, and seiden, Whanne Crist schal come, whether he schal do mo tokenes, than tho that this doith?
Contudo, muitas pessoas da multidão creram nele. Elas disseram: “Quando o Messias chegar, ele fará milagres maiores do que este homem tem feito?”
32 Farisees herden the puple musinge of hym these thingis; and the princis and Farisees senten mynystris, to take hym.
Quando os fariseus ouviram a multidão cochichando a respeito dele, eles e os chefes dos sacerdotes mandaram que os guardas prendessem Jesus.
33 Therfor Jhesus seide to hem, Yit a litil tyme Y am with you, and Y go to the fadir, that sente me.
Então, Jesus disse para as pessoas: “Eu ficarei com vocês apenas por mais algum tempo; mas depois, eu retornarei para junto daquele que me enviou.
34 Ye schulen seke me, and ye schulen not fynde; and where Y am, ye may not come.
Vocês irão me procurar, porém, não me encontrarão, e também não poderão me seguir para onde irei.”
35 Therfor the Jewis seiden to hem silf, Whidur schal this gon, for we schulen not fynde hym? whether he wole go in to the scateryng of hethene men, and wole teche the hethene?
Os judeus disseram uns aos outros: “Para onde será que ele vai que nós não poderemos encontrá-lo? Será que ele está planejando viver entre os judeus que se encontram espalhados entre os pagãos? Será que ele vai ensiná-los?
36 What is this word, which he seide, Ye schulen seke me, and ye schulen not fynde; and where Y am, ye moun not come?
O que ele quer dizer com: ‘Vocês irão me procurar, porém, não me encontrarão e não poderão me seguir para onde irei?’”
37 But in the laste dai of the greet feeste, Jhesus stood, and criede, and seide, If ony man thirstith, come he to me, and drynke.
No último e mais importante dia da festa, Jesus se levantou e gritou forte: “Se vocês tiverem sede, venham até mim e bebam!
38 He that bileueth in me, as the scripture seith, Floodis of quyk watir schulen flowe fro his wombe.
Como as Sagradas Escrituras dizem: Se vocês crerem em mim, serão como fontes de onde fluirão rios de água viva.”
39 But he seide this thing of the Spirit, whom men that bileueden in hym schulden take; for the Spirit was not yit youun, for Jhesus was not yit glorified.
Jesus estava se referindo ao Espírito Santo, que aqueles que tiveram fé nele receberiam. O Espírito não tinha sido dado a essas pessoas, porque Jesus ainda não tinha sido glorificado.
40 Therfor of that cumpanye, whanne thei hadden herd these wordis of hym, thei seiden, This is verili a prophete.
Ao ouvirem o que Jesus dissera, algumas pessoas falaram: “Definitivamente, esse homem é o Profeta!”
41 Othere seiden, This is Crist. `But summe seiden, Whether Crist cometh fro Galilee?
Outros disseram: “Ele é o Messias!” Outras pessoas ainda falaram: “Como pode o Messias vir da Galileia?
42 Whether the scripture seith not, that of the seed of Dauid, and of the castel of Bethleem, where Dauid was, Crist cometh?
As Sagradas Escrituras não dizem que o Messias é descendente de Davi e que vem da cidade em que Davi morou, ou seja, Belém?”
43 Therfor discencioun was maad among the puple for hym.
Então, a multidão começou a expressar uma forte diferença de opinião a respeito de Jesus.
44 For summe of hem wolden haue take hym, but no man sette hondis on hym.
Alguns queriam que ele fosse preso, mas ninguém encostou um único dedo nele.
45 Therfor the mynystris camen to bischopis and Farisees, and thei seiden to hem, Whi brouyten ye not hym?
Então, os guardas voltaram para onde estavam os chefes dos sacerdotes e os fariseus, que lhes perguntaram: “Por que vocês não o prenderam?”
46 The mynystris answeriden, Neuere man spak so, as this man spekith.
E os guardas responderam: “Nunca houve ninguém que tenha falado como esse homem!”
47 Therfor the Farisees answeriden to hem, Whether ye ben disseyued also?
Os fariseus disseram aos guardas: “Até vocês foram enganados por ele?
48 whether ony of the pryncis or of the Farisees bileueden in hym?
Algum governador ou fariseu acreditou nele? Não!
49 But this puple, that knowith not the lawe, ben cursid.
Mas, essa multidão, que não sabe nada sobre os ensinamentos da lei, seja maldita! Eles estão condenados de qualquer forma!”
50 Nychodeme seith to hem, he that cam to hym bi nyyt, that was oon of hem, Whethir oure lawe demith a man,
Porém Nicodemos, que já havia se encontrado com Jesus antes e era um deles, perguntou:
51 but it haue first herde of hym, and knowe what he doith?
“Porventura, nossa lei condena um homem sem primeiro ouvi-lo e sem saber o que ele realmente fez?”
52 Thei answeriden, and seiden to hym, Whether thou art a man of Galilee also? Seke thou scripturis, and se thou, that a prophete risith not of Galilee.
Eles disseram: “Então, você também é um galileu? Estude as Sagradas Escrituras e descobrirá que da Galileia nunca surgiu nenhum profeta.”
53 And thei turneden ayen, ech in to his hous.
Depois, todos eles saíram e foram embora.
