John 19
1 Therfor Pilat took thanne Jhesu, and scourgide.
Então, Pilatos mandou chicotear Jesus.
2 And kniytis writhen a coroun of thornes, and setten on his heed, and diden aboute hym a cloth of purpur,
Os soldados fizeram uma coroa de espinhos e a colocaram na cabeça dele. Também o vestiram com um manto púrpura.
3 and camen to him, and seiden, Heil, kyng of Jewis. And thei yauen to him buffatis.
Eles se aproximavam dele e diziam: “Viva o Rei dos Judeus!”, e batiam em seu rosto.
4 Eftsoone Pilat wente out, and seide to hem, Lo! Y brynge hym out to you, that ye knowe, that Y fynde no cause in him.
Pilatos saiu mais uma vez e disse aos judeus: “Eu o trouxe aqui fora para que vocês saibam que eu não o considero culpado de crime algum.”
5 And so Jhesus wente out, berynge a coroun of thornes, and a cloth of purpur. And he seith to hem, Lo! the man.
Então, Jesus veio para fora com a coroa de espinhos e o manto púrpura. Pilatos disse: “Vejam! Aqui está o homem!”
6 But whanne the bischopis and mynystris hadden seyn hym, thei crieden, and seiden, Crucifie, crucifie hym. Pilat seith to hem, Take ye hym, and crucifie ye, for Y fynde no cause in hym.
Quando os chefes dos sacerdotes e os guardas viram Jesus, eles gritaram: “Crucifique-o! Crucifique-o!” Pilatos respondeu: “Vocês que o levem e o crucifiquem. Pois para mim ele não é culpado.”
7 The Jewis answeriden to hym. We han a lawe, and bi the lawe he owith to die, for he made hym Goddis sone.
Os líderes judeus responderam: “Nós temos uma lei e, de acordo com essa lei, ele deve morrer, porque ele diz ser o Filho de Deus.”
8 Therfor whanne Pilat hadde herd this word, he dredde the more.
Quando Pilatos ouviu isso, ficou ainda com mais receio
9 And he wente in to the moot halle eftsoone, and seide to Jhesu, Of whennus art thou? But Jhesus yaf noon answere to him.
e voltou para o palácio. Ele perguntou a Jesus: “De onde você é?” Mas, Jesus não respondeu.
10 Pilat seith to him, Spekist thou not to me? Woost thou not, that Y haue power to crucifie thee, and Y haue power to delyuere thee?
“Você está se recusando a conversar comigo?”, Pilatos disse a Jesus. “Você não percebe que eu tenho poder para libertá-lo ou crucificá-lo?”
11 Jhesus answeride, Thou schuldist not `haue ony power ayens me, but it were youun to thee from aboue; therfor he that bitook me to thee, hath the more synne.
Jesus respondeu: “O senhor não teria poder sobre mim, se esse não lhe fosse dado por Deus. Portanto, quem me entregou ao senhor é culpado de um pecado maior.”
12 Fro that tyme Pilat souyte to delyuere hym; but the Jewis crieden, and seiden, If thou delyuerist this man, thou art not the emperouris freend; for ech man that makith hym silf king, ayen seith the emperoure.
Depois que Pilatos ouviu isso, ele tentou libertar Jesus. Mas os líderes judeus gritaram: “Se você libertar esse homem, você não é amigo do imperador romano. Qualquer um que se diz rei está se rebelando contra César.”
13 And Pilat, whanne he hadde herd these wordis, ledde Jhesu forth, and sat for domesman in a place, that is seid Licostratos, but in Ebrew Golgatha.
Ao ouvir isso, Pilatos trouxe Jesus para fora e sentou-se no tribunal, em um lugar chamado Calçada de Pedra (em hebraico, Gabatá).
14 And it was pask eue, as it were the sixte our. And he seith to the Jewis, Lo! youre king.
Era quase meio-dia no dia da preparação, um dia antes da Páscoa. Pilatos disse aos judeus: “Vejam! Aqui está o seu rei!”
15 But thei crieden, and seiden, Take awei, take awei; crucifie him. Pilat seith to hem, Schal I crucifie youre king? The bischops answeriden, We han no king but the emperour.
E eles gritavam: “Mate-o! Mate-o! Crucifique-o!” “Vocês querem que eu crucifique o seu rei?” Os chefes dos sacerdotes responderam: “O único rei que nós temos é César.”
16 And thanne Pilat bitook him to hem, that he schulde be crucified. And thei token Jhesu, and ledden him out.
Então, Pilatos entregou Jesus para ser crucificado.
17 And he bar to hym silf a cros, and wente out in to that place, that is seid of Caluarie, in Ebreu Golgatha;
Eles levaram Jesus dali. Ele carregava sua própria cruz e foi levado para um lugar chamado Calvário (Gólgota, em hebraico).
18 where thei crucifieden him, and othere tweyne with him, oon on this side and oon on that side, and Jhesus in the myddil.
Eles o crucificaram lá, juntamente com dois prisioneiros, um de cada lado dele.
19 And Pilat wroot a title, and sette on the cros; and it was writun, Jhesu of Nazareth, king of Jewis.
Pilatos ordenou que fosse colocado um letreiro na parte de cima da cruz, no qual se lia: “Jesus de Nazaré, o Rei dos Judeus.”
20 Therfor manye of the Jewis redden this title, for the place where Jhesus was crucified, was niy the citee, and it was writun in Ebreu, Greek, and Latyn.
Muitas pessoas leram o letreiro, pois o local em que Jesus tinha sido crucificado ficava perto da cidade. Esse letreiro foi escrito em hebraico, latim e grego.
21 Therfor the bischops of the Jewis seiden to Pilat, Nyle thou write kyng of Jewis, but for he seide, Y am king of Jewis.
Então, os chefes dos sacerdotes foram até Pilatos e lhe pediram: “Não escreva ‘o Rei dos Judeus’, mas, sim, ‘Este homem disse: Eu sou o Rei dos Judeus.’”
22 Pilat answeride, That that Y haue writun, Y haue writun.
Pilatos respondeu: “O que eu escrevi, escrevi!”
23 Therfor the knyytis whanne thei hadden crucified hym, token hise clothis, and maden foure partis, to ech knyyt a part, and a coot. And the coot was without seem, and wouun al aboute.
Quando os soldados crucificaram Jesus, eles tiraram as roupas dele e as dividiram em quatro partes, para que cada soldado ficasse com alguma peça. Havia também o manto, feito de uma peça só de tecido, sem costura.
24 Therfor thei seiden togidere, Kitte we not it, but caste we lot, whos it is; that the scripture be fulfillid, seiynge, Thei partiden my clothis to hem, and on my cloth thei casten lot. And the kniytis diden these thingis.
Então, eles disseram uns aos outros: “Não vamos rasgar esse manto. É melhor que joguemos os dados para ver quem ficará com ele.” Assim, se cumpriu o trecho das Sagradas Escrituras que diz: “Eles dividiram minhas roupas entre si e jogaram os dados para decidir quem ficaria com o meu manto.” E foi exatamente assim que os soldados fizeram.
25 But bisidis the cros of Jhesu stoden his modir, and the sistir of his modir, Marie Cleofe, and Marie Maudeleyne.
Perto da cruz estavam Maria, mãe de Jesus, e a irmã dela, e Maria, esposa de Clopas e Maria Madalena.
26 Therfor whanne Jhesu hadde seyn his modir, and the disciple stondynge, whom he louyde, he seith to hise modir, Womman, lo thi sone.
Quando Jesus viu a sua mãe, e o discípulo a quem ele amava ao lado dela, ele disse a sua mãe: “Mãe, este é o seu filho.”
27 Aftyrward he seith to the disciple, Lo! thi modir. And fro that our the disciple took hir in to his modir.
E, depois, disse ao discípulo: “Esta é a sua mãe.” A partir de então, o discípulo levou Maria para que ela morasse na casa dele.
28 Aftirward Jhesus witynge, that now alle thingis ben endid, that the scripture were fulfillid, he seith, Y thirste.
Jesus, então, percebeu que havia terminado tudo o que tinha vindo fazer. Para que se cumprisse o que está escrito nas Sagradas Escrituras, disse: “Estou com sede!”
29 And a vessel was set ful of vynegre. And thei `leiden in isope aboute the spounge ful of vynegre, and putten to his mouth.
Lá, havia uma vasilha com vinagre de vinho. Então, eles molharam uma esponja nesse líquido, colocaram a esponja na ponta de um ramo de hissopo e molharam os lábios de Jesus.
30 Therfor whanne Jhesus hadde `takun the vynegre, he seid, It is endid. And `whanne his heed was bowid doun, `he yaf vp the goost.
Após isso, Jesus disse: “Tudo está completado!” Ele, então, inclinou a cabeça e deu seu último suspiro.
31 Therfor for it was the pask eue, that the bodies schulden not abide on the cros in the sabat, for that was a greet sabat dai, the Jewis preiden Pilat, that the hipis of hem schulden be brokun, and thei takun awei.
Era o dia da preparação, e os líderes judeus não queriam que os corpos ficassem expostos nas cruzes no sábado (de fato, esse era um sábado especial). Então, eles pediram a Pilatos que as pernas dos crucificados fossem quebradas, para que os corpos pudessem ser tirados de lá.
32 Therfor knyytis camen, and thei braken the thies of the firste, and of the tothere, that was crucified with hym.
Assim, os soldados vieram e quebraram as pernas do primeiro homem que havia sido crucificado com Jesus e depois quebram as pernas do outro.
33 But whanne thei weren comun to Jhesu, as thei sayn him deed thanne, thei braken not hise thies;
Mas, quando eles se aproximaram de Jesus, viram que ele já havia morrido, e por isso não quebraram as pernas dele.
34 but oon of the knyytis openyde his side with a spere, and anoon blood and watir wenten out.
No entanto, um dos soldados furou o lado de Jesus com uma lança. Nesse momento, saiu sangue e água.
35 And he that saiy, bare witnessyng, and his witnessing is trewe; and he woot that he seith trewe thingis, that ye bileue.
Quem viu isso contou o que aconteceu, e o seu testemunho é verdadeiro. Ele tem certeza de que o que diz é verdade; então, vocês também podem crer.
36 And these thingis weren don, that the scripture schulde be fulfillid, Ye schulen not breke a boon of hym.
Isso aconteceu assim para que se cumprisse o que está escrito nas Sagradas Escrituras: “Nenhum dos seus ossos será quebrado”,
37 And eftsoone another scripture seith, Thei schulen se in whom thei piyten thorow.
e o que está escrito em outro trecho das Escrituras que diz: “Eles irão olhar para aquele a quem perfuraram com a lança.”
38 But after these thingis Joseph of Armathi preyede Pilat, that he schulde take awei the bodi of Jhesu, for that he was a disciple of Jhesu, but priui for drede of the Jewis. And Pilat suffride. And so he cam, and took awei the bodi of Jhesu.
Depois disso, José de Arimateia perguntou a Pilatos se ele poderia retirar o corpo de Jesus, e Pilatos lhe deu permissão. José era um discípulo de Jesus, mas mantinha isso em segredo, pois tinha medo dos judeus. Então, José veio e levou o corpo.
39 And Nychodeme cam also, that hadde come to hym first bi nyyt, and brouyte a meddlynge of myrre and aloes, as it were an hundrid pound.
Ele foi ajudado por Nicodemos, aquele que viera falar com Jesus à noite. Ele trouxe cerca de trinta e quatro quilos de uma mistura de mirra e aloés.
40 And thei token the bodi of Jhesu, and boundun it in lynun clothis with swete smellynge oynementis, as it is custom to Jewis for to birie.
Eles pegaram o corpo de Jesus e o envolveram em lençóis juntamente com essa mistura, seguindo o costume do sepultamento judaico.
41 And in the place where he was crucified, was a yerd, and in the yerd a newe graue, in which yit no man was leid.
Havia um jardim próximo ao local onde Jesus fora crucificado. Nesse jardim havia um túmulo novo que ainda não tinha sido usado.
42 Therfor there thei putten Jhesu, for the vigilie of Jewis feeste, for the sepulcre was niy.
Como era o dia judaico da preparação e o túmulo estava próximo, eles colocaram o corpo de Jesus lá.
