John 19
1 Therfor Pilat took thanne Jhesu, and scourgide.
അപ്പോൾ പീലാത്തോസ് യേശുവിനെ അരമനയ്ക്കുള്ളിൽ കൊണ്ടുപോയി ചമ്മട്ടികൊണ്ട് അടിപ്പിച്ചു.
2 And kniytis writhen a coroun of thornes, and setten on his heed, and diden aboute hym a cloth of purpur,
സൈനികർ ഒരു മുൾക്കിരീടം മെടഞ്ഞുണ്ടാക്കി അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ ശിരസ്സിൽ വെച്ചു. പിന്നീട് ഊതനിറമുള്ള ഒരു പുറങ്കുപ്പായം ധരിപ്പിച്ചു.
3 and camen to him, and seiden, Heil, kyng of Jewis. And thei yauen to him buffatis.
“യെഹൂദരുടെ രാജാവ്, നീണാൾ വാഴട്ടെ!” എന്നു (പരിഹസിച്ചു) പറഞ്ഞുകൊണ്ട് യേശുവിന്റെ കരണത്തടിച്ചു.
4 Eftsoone Pilat wente out, and seide to hem, Lo! Y brynge hym out to you, that ye knowe, that Y fynde no cause in him.
പീലാത്തോസ് പിന്നെയും പുറത്തുവന്നു, “ഞാൻ അയാളിൽ ഒരു കുറ്റവും കാണുന്നില്ല!” എന്നും, തുടർന്ന് “അത് നിങ്ങൾ അറിയേണ്ടതിന് ഇതാ ഞാൻ അയാളെ നിങ്ങളുടെ അടുക്കൽ പുറത്തുകൊണ്ടുവരുന്നു.” എന്നും യെഹൂദനേതാക്കന്മാരോടു പറഞ്ഞു.
5 And so Jhesus wente out, berynge a coroun of thornes, and a cloth of purpur. And he seith to hem, Lo! the man.
യേശു മുൾക്കിരീടവും ഊതനിറമുള്ള പുറങ്കുപ്പായവും ധരിച്ചു പുറത്തുവന്നപ്പോൾ പീലാത്തോസ് അവരോട്, “ഇതാ ആ മനുഷ്യൻ!” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
6 But whanne the bischopis and mynystris hadden seyn hym, thei crieden, and seiden, Crucifie, crucifie hym. Pilat seith to hem, Take ye hym, and crucifie ye, for Y fynde no cause in hym.
പുരോഹിതമുഖ്യന്മാരും അവരുടെ സേവകരും യേശുവിനെ കണ്ടപ്പോൾ “ക്രൂശിക്ക, ക്രൂശിക്ക,” എന്ന് ഉച്ചത്തിൽ വിളിച്ചുപറഞ്ഞു. പീലാത്തോസ്, “നിങ്ങൾതന്നെ ഇയാളെ കൊണ്ടുപോയി ക്രൂശിക്കുക. ഞാൻ ഇയാളിൽ ഒരു കുറ്റവും കാണുന്നില്ല,” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
7 The Jewis answeriden to hym. We han a lawe, and bi the lawe he owith to die, for he made hym Goddis sone.
യെഹൂദനേതാക്കന്മാർ അതിനു മറുപടിയായി, “ഞങ്ങൾക്കൊരു ന്യായപ്രമാണമുണ്ട്. ദൈവപുത്രൻ എന്നു സ്വയം അവകാശപ്പെടുകയാൽ ആ ന്യായപ്രമാണം അനുസരിച്ച് ഇയാൾ മരണയോഗ്യനാണ്” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
8 Therfor whanne Pilat hadde herd this word, he dredde the more.
ഈ പ്രസ്താവം കേട്ടപ്പോൾ പീലാത്തോസ് വളരെയധികം ഭയപ്പെട്ടു.
9 And he wente in to the moot halle eftsoone, and seide to Jhesu, Of whennus art thou? But Jhesus yaf noon answere to him.
അയാൾ വീണ്ടും അരമനയ്ക്കുള്ളിലേക്കു ചെന്ന്, “നീ എവിടെനിന്നുള്ളവൻ?” എന്ന് യേശുവിനോടു ചോദിച്ചു. എന്നാൽ, യേശു അതിനു മറുപടിയൊന്നും പറഞ്ഞില്ല.
10 Pilat seith to him, Spekist thou not to me? Woost thou not, that Y haue power to crucifie thee, and Y haue power to delyuere thee?
പീലാത്തോസ് വീണ്ടും ചോദിച്ചു: “നീ എന്നോടൊന്നും സംസാരിക്കാത്തതെന്ത്? നിന്നെ മോചിപ്പിക്കാനും ക്രൂശിൽ തറപ്പിക്കാനും എനിക്കധികാരമുണ്ടെന്ന് നീ അറിയുന്നില്ലേ?”
11 Jhesus answeride, Thou schuldist not `haue ony power ayens me, but it were youun to thee from aboue; therfor he that bitook me to thee, hath the more synne.
അതിന് യേശു മറുപടി പറഞ്ഞു, “മുകളിൽനിന്ന് നൽകപ്പെട്ടില്ലായിരുന്നെങ്കിൽ താങ്കൾക്ക് എന്റെമേൽ ഒരധികാരവും ഉണ്ടാകുമായിരുന്നില്ല. അതുകൊണ്ട് എന്നെ താങ്കളുടെപക്കൽ ഏൽപ്പിച്ചുതന്നവനാണ് കൂടുതൽ പാപമുള്ളത്.”
12 Fro that tyme Pilat souyte to delyuere hym; but the Jewis crieden, and seiden, If thou delyuerist this man, thou art not the emperouris freend; for ech man that makith hym silf king, ayen seith the emperoure.
അപ്പോൾമുതൽ യേശുവിനെ വിട്ടയയ്ക്കാൻ പീലാത്തോസ് പരിശ്രമിച്ചു. എന്നാൽ യെഹൂദനേതാക്കന്മാർ, “ഈ മനുഷ്യനെ വിട്ടയച്ചാൽ, അങ്ങ് കൈസറുടെ സ്നേഹിതനല്ല. സ്വയം രാജാവെന്ന് അവകാശപ്പെടുന്നവൻ കൈസറോടു മത്സരിക്കുന്നു” എന്ന് ഉച്ചത്തിൽ വിളിച്ചുപറഞ്ഞുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.
13 And Pilat, whanne he hadde herd these wordis, ledde Jhesu forth, and sat for domesman in a place, that is seid Licostratos, but in Ebrew Golgatha.
ഈ വാക്കുകൾ പീലാത്തോസ് കേട്ടപ്പോൾ, യേശുവിനെ പുറത്തുകൊണ്ടുവന്നു; എബ്രായഭാഷയിൽ ഗബ്ബഥാ, അതായത്, കൽത്തളം എന്നു പേരുള്ള സ്ഥലത്തുവന്ന് ന്യായാസനത്തിൽ ഉപവിഷ്ടനായി.
14 And it was pask eue, as it were the sixte our. And he seith to the Jewis, Lo! youre king.
ഇതു സംഭവിച്ചത് പെസഹാപ്പെരുന്നാളിന്റെ തലേദിവസമായ ഒരുക്കനാളിന്റെ മധ്യാഹ്നസമയത്ത് ആയിരുന്നു. പീലാത്തോസ് യെഹൂദനേതാക്കന്മാരോട്, “ഇതാ നിങ്ങളുടെ രാജാവ്” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
15 But thei crieden, and seiden, Take awei, take awei; crucifie him. Pilat seith to hem, Schal I crucifie youre king? The bischops answeriden, We han no king but the emperour.
എന്നാൽ അവർ, “അവനെ കൊന്നുകളക, കൊന്നുകളക, അവനെ ക്രൂശിക്ക” എന്നിങ്ങനെ ഉറക്കെ വിളിച്ചുപറഞ്ഞു. “നിങ്ങളുടെ രാജാവിനെ ഞാൻ ക്രൂശിലേറ്റണമോ?” പീലാത്തോസ് ചോദിച്ചു. “ഞങ്ങൾക്കു കൈസറല്ലാതെ മറ്റൊരു രാജാവില്ല,” പുരോഹിതമുഖ്യന്മാർ ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.
16 And thanne Pilat bitook him to hem, that he schulde be crucified. And thei token Jhesu, and ledden him out.
ഒടുവിൽ പീലാത്തോസ് യേശുവിനെ ക്രൂശിക്കാനായി അവർക്കു വിട്ടുകൊടുത്തു. പടയാളികൾ യേശുവിനെ ഏറ്റുവാങ്ങി.
17 And he bar to hym silf a cros, and wente out in to that place, that is seid of Caluarie, in Ebreu Golgatha;
യേശു തന്റെ ക്രൂശു സ്വയം ചുമന്നുകൊണ്ട്, അരാമ്യഭാഷയിൽ തലയോട്ടിയുടെ സ്ഥലം എന്നർഥം വരുന്ന ഗൊൽഗോഥാ എന്ന സ്ഥലത്തേക്കുപോയി.
18 where thei crucifieden him, and othere tweyne with him, oon on this side and oon on that side, and Jhesus in the myddil.
അവിടെ അവർ, യേശുവിനെ മധ്യത്തിലും വേറെ രണ്ടുപേരെ ഇരുവശത്തുമായി ക്രൂശിച്ചു.
19 And Pilat wroot a title, and sette on the cros; and it was writun, Jhesu of Nazareth, king of Jewis.
പീലാത്തോസ് ഒരു കുറ്റപത്രം എഴുതി ക്രൂശിൽ പതിപ്പിച്ചു. നസറായനായ യേശു, യെഹൂദരുടെ രാജാവ്, എന്നായിരുന്നു അത്.
20 Therfor manye of the Jewis redden this title, for the place where Jhesus was crucified, was niy the citee, and it was writun in Ebreu, Greek, and Latyn.
യേശുവിനെ ക്രൂശിച്ച സ്ഥലം നഗരത്തിനു സമീപമായിരുന്നതുകൊണ്ടും ആ മേലെഴുത്ത് എബ്രായ, ലത്തീൻ, ഗ്രീക്ക് എന്നീ ഭാഷകളിൽ എഴുതിയിരുന്നതുകൊണ്ടും യെഹൂദരിൽ പലരും അതു വായിച്ചു.
21 Therfor the bischops of the Jewis seiden to Pilat, Nyle thou write kyng of Jewis, but for he seide, Y am king of Jewis.
യെഹൂദരുടെ പുരോഹിതമുഖ്യന്മാർ പീലാത്തോസിനോട്, “‘യെഹൂദരുടെ രാജാവ്’ എന്നല്ല, ‘യെഹൂദരുടെ രാജാവ് ഞാനാണ് എന്ന് ഈ മനുഷ്യൻ അവകാശപ്പെട്ടു,’ എന്നാണ് എഴുതേണ്ടത്” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
22 Pilat answeride, That that Y haue writun, Y haue writun.
അതിന് “ഞാൻ എഴുതിയത് എഴുതി,” എന്നു പീലാത്തോസ് മറുപടി പറഞ്ഞു.
23 Therfor the knyytis whanne thei hadden crucified hym, token hise clothis, and maden foure partis, to ech knyyt a part, and a coot. And the coot was without seem, and wouun al aboute.
യേശുവിനെ ക്രൂശിച്ചതിനുശേഷം പടയാളികൾ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ വസ്ത്രങ്ങൾ, ഓരോരുത്തനും ലഭിക്കത്തക്കവിധം നാലായി ഭാഗിച്ചു; പുറങ്കുപ്പായം അവർ ഭാഗിച്ചില്ല; അതു തുന്നൽ ഇല്ലാതെ മേൽതൊട്ട് അടിവരെ മുഴുവനും നെയ്തെടുത്തതായിരുന്നു.
24 Therfor thei seiden togidere, Kitte we not it, but caste we lot, whos it is; that the scripture be fulfillid, seiynge, Thei partiden my clothis to hem, and on my cloth thei casten lot. And the kniytis diden these thingis.
“ഇത് നാം കീറരുത്, ആർക്കു കിട്ടുമെന്ന് നറുക്കിട്ടു തീരുമാനിക്കാം,” എന്ന് അവർ പരസ്പരം പറഞ്ഞു. “എന്റെ വസ്ത്രങ്ങൾ അവർ പകുത്തെടുത്തു. എന്റെ പുറങ്കുപ്പായത്തിനായവർ നറുക്കിട്ടു,” എന്നുള്ള തിരുവെഴുത്തു നിറവേറുന്നതിനാണ് സൈനികർ ഇങ്ങനെയെല്ലാം ചെയ്തത്.
25 But bisidis the cros of Jhesu stoden his modir, and the sistir of his modir, Marie Cleofe, and Marie Maudeleyne.
ക്രൂശിനരികെ യേശുവിന്റെ അമ്മയും അമ്മയുടെ സഹോദരിയും ക്ലെയോപ്പാവിന്റെ ഭാര്യ മറിയയും മഗ്ദലക്കാരി മറിയയും നിന്നിരുന്നു.
26 Therfor whanne Jhesu hadde seyn his modir, and the disciple stondynge, whom he louyde, he seith to hise modir, Womman, lo thi sone.
അമ്മയും താൻ സ്നേഹിച്ച ശിഷ്യനും സമീപത്തുനിൽക്കുന്നതു കണ്ടിട്ട് യേശു അമ്മയോട്, “സ്ത്രീയേ, ഇതാ നിന്റെ മകൻ!” എന്നും
27 Aftyrward he seith to the disciple, Lo! thi modir. And fro that our the disciple took hir in to his modir.
ശിഷ്യനോട്, “ഇതാ നിന്റെ അമ്മ!” എന്നും പറഞ്ഞു. ആ സമയംമുതൽ ആ ശിഷ്യൻ യേശുവിന്റെ അമ്മയെ സ്വന്തംഭവനത്തിൽ സ്വീകരിച്ചു.
28 Aftirward Jhesus witynge, that now alle thingis ben endid, that the scripture were fulfillid, he seith, Y thirste.
അതിനുശേഷം, സകലതും പൂർത്തിയായിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നറിഞ്ഞ്, തിരുവെഴുത്തു പൂർത്തീകരിക്കുന്നതിനായി യേശു, “എനിക്കു ദാഹിക്കുന്നു” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
29 And a vessel was set ful of vynegre. And thei `leiden in isope aboute the spounge ful of vynegre, and putten to his mouth.
അവിടെ പുളിച്ച വീഞ്ഞു നിറച്ച് ഒരു പാത്രം വെച്ചിരുന്നു. അവർ ഒരു സ്പോഞ്ച് അതിൽ മുക്കി ഈസോപ്പുചെടിയുടെ തണ്ടിന്മേലാക്കി യേശുവിന്റെ വായോടടുപ്പിച്ചു.
30 Therfor whanne Jhesus hadde `takun the vynegre, he seid, It is endid. And `whanne his heed was bowid doun, `he yaf vp the goost.
അതു കുടിച്ചശേഷം യേശു “സകലതും നിവൃത്തിയായി!” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു തല ചായ്ച്ചു തന്റെ ആത്മാവിനെ ഏൽപ്പിച്ചുകൊടുത്തു.
31 Therfor for it was the pask eue, that the bodies schulden not abide on the cros in the sabat, for that was a greet sabat dai, the Jewis preiden Pilat, that the hipis of hem schulden be brokun, and thei takun awei.
അന്ന് പെസഹാപ്പെരുന്നാളിന്റെ തലേദിവസമായ ഒരുക്കത്തിന്റെ ദിവസവും പിറ്റേന്ന് വളരെ സവിശേഷതകളുള്ള ഒരു ശബ്ബത്തും ആയിരുന്നു. ശബ്ബത്തുനാളിൽ ശവശരീരങ്ങൾ ക്രൂശിൽ കിടക്കുന്നത് ഒഴിവാക്കുന്നതിന് അവരുടെ കാലുകൾ ഒടിപ്പിച്ചു താഴെയിറക്കണമെന്ന് യെഹൂദനേതാക്കന്മാർ പീലാത്തോസിനോട് അപേക്ഷിച്ചു.
32 Therfor knyytis camen, and thei braken the thies of the firste, and of the tothere, that was crucified with hym.
അതുകൊണ്ടു പടയാളികൾ വന്ന്, യേശുവിനോടുകൂടെ ക്രൂശിക്കപ്പെട്ട രണ്ടുപേരുടെയും കാലുകൾ ആദ്യം ഒടിച്ചു.
33 But whanne thei weren comun to Jhesu, as thei sayn him deed thanne, thei braken not hise thies;
അവർ യേശുവിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ വന്നപ്പോൾ അദ്ദേഹം മരിച്ചു കഴിഞ്ഞു എന്നു മനസ്സിലാക്കിയിട്ടു കാലുകൾ ഒടിച്ചില്ല.
34 but oon of the knyytis openyde his side with a spere, and anoon blood and watir wenten out.
എങ്കിലും പടയാളികളിൽ ഒരുവൻ കുന്തംകൊണ്ട് യേശുവിന്റെ പാർശ്വത്തിൽ കുത്തി. ഉടനെ രക്തവും വെള്ളവും പുറത്തേക്കൊഴുകി.
35 And he that saiy, bare witnessyng, and his witnessing is trewe; and he woot that he seith trewe thingis, that ye bileue.
ഇതു കണ്ടയാൾതന്നെയാണ് ഈ സാക്ഷ്യം പറഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നത്; അവന്റെ സാക്ഷ്യം സത്യംതന്നെ; താൻ പറയുന്നതു സത്യം എന്ന് അയാൾ അറിയുന്നു; നിങ്ങളും വിശ്വസിക്കേണ്ടതിനാണ് അയാൾ ഇതു സാക്ഷ്യപ്പെടുത്തുന്നത്.
36 And these thingis weren don, that the scripture schulde be fulfillid, Ye schulen not breke a boon of hym.
“അവന്റെ അസ്ഥികളിൽ ഒന്നും ഒടിഞ്ഞുപോകുകയില്ല,” എന്നുള്ള തിരുവെഴുത്തു നിറവേറുന്നതിന് ഇതു സംഭവിച്ചു.
37 And eftsoone another scripture seith, Thei schulen se in whom thei piyten thorow.
“തങ്ങൾ കുത്തിയവങ്കലേക്കു നോക്കും,” എന്നു വേറൊരു തിരുവെഴുത്തും പറയുന്നു.
38 But after these thingis Joseph of Armathi preyede Pilat, that he schulde take awei the bodi of Jhesu, for that he was a disciple of Jhesu, but priui for drede of the Jewis. And Pilat suffride. And so he cam, and took awei the bodi of Jhesu.
അതിനുശേഷം, യെഹൂദനേതാക്കന്മാരോടുള്ള ഭയംനിമിത്തം രഹസ്യശിഷ്യനായിക്കഴിഞ്ഞിരുന്ന അരിമഥ്യക്കാരൻ യോസേഫ്, പീലാത്തോസിനോട് യേശുവിന്റെ മൃതദേഹം വിട്ടുതരണമെന്നപേക്ഷിച്ചു. പീലാത്തോസിന്റെ അനുവാദത്തോടെ അയാൾ വന്നു മൃതശരീരം എടുത്തു.
39 And Nychodeme cam also, that hadde come to hym first bi nyyt, and brouyte a meddlynge of myrre and aloes, as it were an hundrid pound.
മുമ്പൊരിക്കൽ രാത്രിയിൽ യേശുവിനെ സന്ദർശിച്ച നിക്കോദേമൊസും അയാളുടെകൂടെ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു. മീറയും ചന്ദനവുംകൊണ്ടുള്ള മിശ്രിതം ഏകദേശം മുപ്പത്തിനാല് കിലോഗ്രാം നിക്കോദേമൊസ് കൊണ്ടുവന്നു.
40 And thei token the bodi of Jhesu, and boundun it in lynun clothis with swete smellynge oynementis, as it is custom to Jewis for to birie.
ഇരുവരുംകൂടി യേശുവിന്റെ ശരീരം എടുത്തു, യെഹൂദരുടെ ശവസംസ്കാര ആചാരമനുസരിച്ച് ആ സുഗന്ധമിശ്രിതം പുരട്ടി ശവക്കച്ചയിൽ പൊതിഞ്ഞു.
41 And in the place where he was crucified, was a yerd, and in the yerd a newe graue, in which yit no man was leid.
യേശുവിനെ ക്രൂശിച്ച സ്ഥലത്ത് ഒരു തോട്ടവും ആ തോട്ടത്തിൽ, ആരെയും ഒരിക്കലും അടക്കിയിട്ടില്ലാത്ത ഒരു കല്ലറയും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.
42 Therfor there thei putten Jhesu, for the vigilie of Jewis feeste, for the sepulcre was niy.
അന്ന് യെഹൂദരുടെ പെരുന്നാളിന്റെ ഒരുക്കനാൾ ആയിരുന്നതിനാലും ആ കല്ലറ സമീപത്തായിരുന്നതിനാലും അവർ യേശുവിനെ അവിടെ സംസ്കരിച്ചു.
