Job 8
1 Sotheli Baldath Suytes answeride, and seide,
Entonces tomó la palabra Baldad suhita y dijo:
2 Hou longe schalt thou speke siche thingis? The spirit of the word of thi mouth is manyfold.
“¿Hasta cuándo hablarás de este modo y serán las palabras de tu boca cual viento tempestuoso?
3 Whether God supplauntith, `ethir disseyueth, doom, and whether Almyyti God distrieth that, that is iust?
¿Acaso Dios tuerce el derecho, o pervierte el Omnipotente la justicia?
4 Yhe, thouy thi sones synneden ayens hym, and he lefte hem in the hond of her wickidnesse;
Si tus hijos contra Él pecaron, Él los ha castigado ya a causa de sus transgresiones.
5 netheles, if thou risist eerli to God, and bisechist `Almyyti God, if thou goist clene and riytful,
Pero tú, si buscas solícito a Dios, e imploras al Todopoderoso,
6 anoon he schal wake fulli to thee, and schal make pesible the dwellyng place of thi ryytfulnesse;
y eres puro y recto, al punto Él velará sobre ti, y prosperará la morada de tu justicia.
7 in so miche that thi formere thingis weren litil, and that thi laste thingis be multiplied greetli.
Tu anterior estado será poca cosa, pues tu porvenir será muy grande.
8 For whi, axe thou the formere generacioun, and seke thou diligentli the mynde of fadris.
Pregunta, si quieres, a las generaciones pasadas, respeta la experiencia de los padres;
9 For we ben men of yistirdai, and `kunnen not; for oure daies ben as schadewe on the erthe.
pues de ayer somos y nada sabemos, y nuestros días sobre la tierra pasan como la sombra.
10 And thei schulen teche thee, thei schulen speke to thee, and of her herte thei schulen bring forth spechis.
Ellos te instruirán, ellos hablarán contigo, y de su corazón sacarán estas palabras:
11 Whether a rusche may lyue with out moysture? ethir a spier `may wexe with out watir?
¿Puede crecer el papiro sin humedad, el junco elevarse sin agua?
12 Whanne it is yit in the flour, nethir is takun with hond, it wexeth drie bifor alle erbis.
Estando aún en flor, y sin ser cortado se seca antes que cualquier otra hierba.
13 So the weies of alle men, that foryeten God; and the hope of an ypocrite schal perische.
Así será el fin de todos los que se olvidan de Dios; se desvanecerá la esperanza del impío;
14 His cowardise schal not plese hym, and his trist schal be as a web of yreyns.
su seguridad le será cortada, y su confianza va a ser como telaraña.
15 He schal leene, `ether reste, on his hows, and it schal not stonde; he schal vndursette it, and it schal not rise togidere.
Se apoya sobre su casa, mas esta no se mantiene, se aferra a ella y no resiste.
16 The rusche semeth moist, bifor that the sunne come; and in the risyng of the sunne the seed therof schal go out.
Está en su lozanía ante el sol, sus renuevos exceden de su huerto,
17 Rootis therof schulen be maad thicke on an heep of stoonys, and it schal dwelle among stoonys.
sus raíces se entrelazan sobre el montón de piedras, hundiéndose hasta donde está la roca;
18 If a man drawith it out of `his place, his place schal denye it, and schal seie, Y knowe thee not.
mas cuando se lo arranca de su lugar, este lo desconoce (diciendo): «Nunca te he visto.»
19 For this is the gladnesse of his weie, that eft othere ruschis springe out of the erthe.
No es otro el gozo que está al fin de su camino, y de su polvo nacerán otros.
20 Forsothe God schal not caste a wei a symple man, nethir schal dresse hond to wickid men;
He aquí que Dios no desecha al justo, ni da la mano a los malvados.
21 til thi mouth be fillid with leiytir, and thi lippis with hertli song.
Algún día rebosará de risa tu boca, y tus labios de júbilo.
22 Thei that haten thee schulen be clothid with schenschip; and the tabernacle of wickid men schal not stonde.
Los que te aborrecen se cubrirán de ignominia, y la tienda de los impíos dejará de existir.”
