Job 40

1 And the Lord addide, and spak to Joob,

۱

2 Whether he, that stryueth with God, schal haue rest so liytli? Sotheli he, that repreueth God, owith for to answere to hym.

۲ «آیا مجادله کننده با قادرمطلق مخاصمه نماید؟ کسی‌که با خدا محاجه کند آن را جواب بدهد.»

3 Forsothe Joob answeride to the Lord,

۳ آنگاه ایوب خداوند را جواب داده، گفت:

4 and seide, What may Y answere, which haue spoke liytli? Y schal putte myn hond on my mouth.

۴ «اینک من حقیر هستم و به تو چه جواب دهم؟ دست خود را به دهانم گذاشته‌ام.

5 Y spak o thing, which thing Y wold, that Y hadde not seid; and Y spak anothir thing, to which Y schal no more adde.

۵ یک مرتبه گفتم و تکرار نخواهم کرد. بلکه دو مرتبه و نخواهم افزود.»

6 Forsothe the Lord answeride to Joob fro the whirlewynd,

۶ پس خداوند ایوب را از گردباد خطاب کرد وگفت:

7 and seide, Girde thou as a man thi leendis, and Y schal axe thee, and schewe thou to me.

۷ «الان کمر خود را مثل مرد ببند. از توسوال می‌نمایم و مرا اعلام کن.

8 Whether thou schalt make voide my doom, and schalt condempne me, that thou be maad iust?

۸ آیا داوری مرانیز باطل می‌نمایی؟ و مرا ملزم می‌سازی تاخویشتن را عادل بنمایی؟

9 And if thou hast an arm, as God hath, and if thou thundrist with lijk vois, `take thou fairnesse aboute thee,

۹ آیا تو را مثل خدابازویی هست؟ و به آواز مثل او رعد توانی کرد؟

10 and be thou reisid an hiy, and be thou gloriouse, and be thou clothid `in faire clothis.

۱۰ الان خویشتن را به جلال و عظمت زینت بده. و به عزت و شوکت ملبس ساز.

11 Distrie thou proude men in thi woodnesse, and biholde thou, and make lowe ech bostere.

۱۱ شدت غضب خود را بریز و به هرکه متکبر است نظر افکنده، اورا به زیر انداز.

12 Biholde thou alle proude men, and schende thou hem; and al to-breke thou wickid men in her place.

۱۲ بر هرکه متکبر است نظر کن و اورا ذلیل بساز. و شریران را در جای ایشان پایمال کن.

13 Hide thou hem in dust togidere, and drenche doun her faces in to a diche.

۱۳ ایشان را با هم در خاک پنهان نما و رویهای ایشان را درجای مخفی محبوس کن.

14 And Y schal knowleche, that thi riyt hond may saue thee.

۱۴ آنگاه من نیز درباره تو اقرار خواهم کرد، که دست راستت تو را نجات تواند داد.

15 Lo! behemot, whom Y made with thee, schal as an oxe ete hey.

۱۵ اینک بهیموت که او را باتو آفریده‌ام که علف را مثل گاو می‌خورد،

16 His strengthe is in hise leendis, and his vertu is in the nawle of his wombe.

۱۶ همانا قوت او در کمرش می‌باشد، و توانایی وی در رگهای شکمش.

17 He streyneth his tail as a cedre; the senewis of his `stones of gendrure ben foldid togidere.

۱۷ دم خود را مثل سروآزاد می‌جنباند. رگهای رانش بهم پیچیده است.

18 Hise boonys ben as the pipis of bras; the gristil of hym is as platis of yrun.

۱۸ استخوانهایش مثل لوله های برنجین واعضایش مثل تیرهای آهنین است.

19 He is the bigynnyng of the weies of God; he, that made hym, schal sette his swerd to hym.

۱۹ او افضل صنایع خدا است. آن که او را آفرید حربه‌اش را به او داده است.

20 Hillis beren eerbis to this behemot; alle the beestis of the feeld pleien there.

۲۰ به درستی که کوهها برایش علوفه می‌رویاند، که در آنها تمامی حیوانات صحرابازی می‌کنند

21 He slepith vndur schadewe, in the pryuete of rehed, in moiste places.

۲۱ زیر درختهای کنار می‌خوابد. در سایه نیزار و در خلاب.

22 Schadewis hilen his schadewe; the salewis of the ryuer cumpassen hym.

۲۲ درختهای کنار او را به سایه خود می‌پوشاند، و بیدهای نهر، وی رااحاطه می‌نماید.

23 He schal soupe vp the flood, and he schal not wondre; he hath trist, that Jordan schal flowe in to his mouth.

۲۳ اینک رودخانه طغیان می‌کند، لیکن او نمی ترسد و اگر‌چه اردن دردهانش ریخته شود ایمن خواهد بود.

24 He schal take hem bi `the iyen of hym, as bi an hook; and bi scharpe schaftis he schal perse hise nosethirlis.

۲۴ آیا چون نگران است او را گرفتار توان کرد؟ یا بینی وی را باقلاب توان سفت؟
