Job 4
1 Forsothe Eliphat Themanytes answeride, and seide,
तब तेमानवासी एलिफाज़ ने उत्तर दिया:
2 If we bigynnen to speke to thee, in hap thou schalt take it heuyli; but who may holde a word conseyued?
“अय्योब, यदि मैं तुमसे कुछ कहने का ढाढस करूं, क्या तुम चिढ़ जाओगे? किंतु कुछ न कहना भी असंभव हो रहा है.
3 Lo! thou hast tauyt ful many men, and thou hast strengthid hondis maad feynt.
यह सत्य है कि तुमने अनेकों को चेताया है, तुमने अनेकों को प्रोत्साहित किया है.
4 Thi wordis confermyden men doutynge, and thou coumfortidist knees tremblynge.
तुम्हारे शब्दों से अनेकों के लड़खड़ाते पैर स्थिर हुए हैं; तुमसे ही निर्बल घुटनों में बल-संचार हुआ है.
5 But now a wounde is comun on thee, and thou hast failid; it touchide thee, and thou art disturblid.
अब तुम स्वयं उसी स्थिति का सामना कर रहे हो तथा तुम अधीर हो रहे हो; उसने तुम्हें स्पर्श किया है और तुम निराशा में डूबे हुए हो!
6 Where is thi drede, thi strengthe, and thi pacience, and the perfeccioun of thi weies?
क्या तुम्हारे बल का आधार परमेश्वर के प्रति तुम्हारी श्रद्धा नहीं है? क्या तुम्हारी आशा का आधार तुम्हारा आचरण खरा होना नहीं?
7 Y biseche thee, haue thou mynde, what innocent man perischide euere, ethir whanne riytful men weren doon awei?
“अब यह सत्य याद न होने देना कि क्या कभी कोई अपने निर्दोष होने के कारण नष्ट हुआ? अथवा कहां सज्जन को नष्ट किया गया है?
8 Certis rathir Y siy hem, that worchen wickidnesse, and sowen sorewis,
अपने अनुभव के आधार पर मैं कहूंगा, जो पाप में हल चलाते हैं तथा जो संकट बोते हैं, वे उसी की उपज एकत्र करते हैं.
9 and repen tho, to haue perischid bi God blowynge, and to be wastid bi the spirit of his ire.
परमेश्वर के श्वास मात्र से वे नष्ट हो जाते हैं; उनके कोप के विस्फोट से वे नष्ट हो जाते हैं,
10 The roryng of a lioun, and the vois of a lionesse, and the teeth of `whelpis of liouns ben al to-brokun.
सिंह की दहाड़, हिंसक सिंह की गरज, बलिष्ठ सिंहों के दांत टूट जाते हैं.
11 Tigris perischide, for sche hadde not prey; and the whelpis of a lioun ben distried.
भोजन के अभाव में सिंह नष्ट हो रहे हैं, सिंहनी के बच्चे इधर-उधर जा चुके हैं.
12 Certis an hid word was seid to me, and myn eere took as theueli the veynes of priuy noise therof.
“एक संदेश छिपते-छिपाते मुझे दिया गया, मेरे कानों ने वह शांत ध्वनि सुन ली.
13 In the hidousnesse of `nyytis siyt, whanne heuy sleep is wont to occupie men,
रात्रि में सपनों में विचारों के मध्य के दृश्यों से, जब मनुष्य घोर निद्रा में पड़े हुए होते हैं,
14 drede and tremblyng helde me; and alle my boonys weren aferd.
मैं भय से भयभीत हो गया, मुझ पर कंपकंपी छा गई, वस्तुतः मेरी समस्त हड्डियां हिल रही थीं.
15 And whanne the spirit `yede in my presence, the heiris of `my fleisch hadden hidousnesse.
उसी अवसर पर मेरे चेहरे के सामने से एक आत्मा निकलकर चली गई, मेरे रोम खड़े हो गए.
16 Oon stood, whos chere Y knewe not, an ymage bifor myn iyen; and Y herde a vois as of softe wynd.
मैं स्तब्ध खड़ा रह गया. उसके रूप को समझना मेरे लिए संभव न था. एक रूप को मेरे नेत्र अवश्य देख रहे थे. वातावरण में पूर्णतः सन्नाटा था, तब मैंने एक स्वर सुना
17 Whether a man schal be maad iust in comparisoun of God? ethir whethir a man schal be clennere than his Makere?
‘क्या मानव जाति परमेश्वर की दृष्टि में धर्मी हो सकती है? क्या रचयिता की परख में मानव पवित्र हो सकता है?
18 Lo! thei that seruen hym ben not stidefast; and he findith schrewidnesse in hise aungels.
परमेश्वर ने अपने सेवकों पर भरोसा नहीं रखा है, अपने स्वर्गदूतों पर वे दोष आरोपित करते हैं.
19 Hou myche more thei that dwellen in housis of cley, that han an ertheli foundement, schulen be wastyd as of a mouyte.
तब उन पर जो मिट्टी के घरों में निवास करते, जिनकी नींव ही धूल में रखी हुई है, जिन्हें पतंगे-समान कुचलना कितना अधिक संभव है!
20 Fro morewtid til to euentid thei schulen be kit doun; and for no man vndurstondith, thei schulen perische with outen ende.
प्रातःकाल से लेकर संध्याकाल तक उन्हें टुकड़े-टुकड़े कर दिया जाता है; उन्हें सदा-सर्वदा के लिए विनष्ट कर दिया जाता है, किसी का ध्यान उन पर नहीं जाता.
21 Sotheli thei, that ben residue, schulen be takun awei; thei schulen die, and not in wisdom.
क्या यह सत्य नहीं कि उनके तंबुओं की रस्सियां उनके भीतर ही खोल दी जाती हैं? तथा बुद्धिहीनों की मृत्यु हो जाती है?’”
