Jeremiah 9
1 Who schal yyue watir to myn heed, and a welle of teeris to myn iyen? And Y schal biwepe dai and niyt the slayn men of the douyter of my puple.
Cómo quisiera que mi cabeza fuera un manantial de agua, y mis ojos una fuente de lágrimas. Entonces lloraría día y noche por todo mi pueblo que ha sido asesinado.
2 Who schal yyue me in to a wildirnesse of dyuerse weigoeris? And I schal forsake my puple, and Y schal go awei fro hem. For whi alle ben auowteris, and the cumpenyes of trespassouris ayens the lawe;
Ojalá tuviera un refugio temporal en el desierto; renunciaría a mi pueblo y lo abandonaría, porque todos son adúlteros, una banda de traidores.
3 and thei helden forth her tunge as a bouwe of leesyng, and not of treuthe Thei ben coumfortid in erthe, for thei yeden out fro yuel to yuel, and thei knewen not me, seith the Lord.
Sus palabras son como flechas lanzadas desde un arco. La mentira se impone a la verdad en todo el país. Van de mal en peor y se olvidan de mí, declara el Señor.
4 Ech man kepe hym fro his neiybore, and haue no trist in ony brother of hym; for whi ech brother disseyuyng schal disseyue, and ech frend schal go gilefuli.
¡Cuidado con tus amigos! ¡Ni siquiera confíes en tu hermano! Todo hermano es engañoso, y todo amigo calumnia a los demás.
5 And a man schal scorne his brother, and schal not speke treuthe; for thei tauyten her tunge to speke leesyng; thei traueliden to do wickidli.
Todos traicionan a sus amigos; nadie dice la verdad. Se han convertido en expertos mentirosos; se cansan de hacer el mal.
6 Thi dwellyng is in the myddis of gile; in gile thei forsoken to knowe me, seith the Lord.
Todos se explotan mutuamente, y en medio de todas sus mentiras no quieren conocerme, declara el Señor.
7 Therfor the Lord of oostis seith these thingis, Lo! Y schal welle togidere, and Y schal preue hem; for whi what other thing schal Y do fro the face of the douyter of my puple?
Así que esto es lo que dice el Señor Todopoderoso: Mira, voy a probarlos y a purificarlos como el metal en un horno. ¿Qué más puedo hacer por lo que ha hecho mi pueblo?
8 The tunge of hem is an arowe woundynge, and spak gile; in his mouth he spekith pees with his frend, and priueli he settith tresouns to hym.
Sus palabras son flechas que matan; siempre dicen mentiras. Por fuera son amables con sus amigos, pero por dentro conspiran contra ellos.
9 Whether Y schal not visite on these thingis, seith the Lord, ether schal not my soule take veniaunce on siche a folc?
¿No debo castigarlos por todo esto? declara el Señor. ¿No debo tomar represalias por lo que ha hecho esta nación?
10 On hillis Y schal take wepyng and mournyng, and weilyng on the faire thingis of desert, for tho ben brent; for no man is passynge forth, and thei herden not the vois of hym that weldith; fro a brid of the eir `til to scheep, tho passiden ouer, and yeden awei.
Lloraré y me lamentaré por los montes, cantaré un canto fúnebre sobre los pastos del campo, porque han quedado tan quemados que nadie puede pasar por ellos, y no hay ganado que haga ruido. Las aves han volado y los animales salvajes han huido.
11 And Y schal yyue Jerusalem in to heepis of grauel, and in to dennes of dragouns; and Y schal yyue the citees of Juda in to desolacioun, for ther is no dwellere.
Voy a convertir a Jerusalén en un montón de escombros, en un lugar donde viven los chacales. Destruiré las ciudades de Judá, y las dejaré vacías.
12 Who is a wise man that schal vndurstonde these thingis, and to whom the word of the mouth of the Lord schal be maad, that he telle this? Whi the erthe perischide, it is brent as desert, for noon is that passith?
¿Quién es tan sabio como para entender esto? ¿Le ha dicho el Señor esto a alguien para que pueda explicar lo que ha sucedido? ¿Por qué la tierra ha sido destruida y quemada hasta quedar como un desierto, para que nadie pueda pasar por ella?
13 And the Lord seide, For thei forsoken my lawe, which Y yaf to hem, and thei herden not my vois, and thei yeden not therynne;
El Señor respondió: Es porque han dejado de cumplir mis leyes que les puse enfrente. No las han seguido; no han hecho lo que les dije.
14 and thei yeden aftir the schrewidnesse of her herte, and aftir Baalym, which thei lerneden of her fadris;
Por el contrario, han seguido su propia y obstinada manera de pensar, y han ido a adorar a los baales, tal como sus antepasados les enseñaron.
15 therfor the Lord of oostis, God of Israel, seith these thingis, Lo! Y schal fede this puple with wermod, and Y schal yyue to hem drynke the watir of galle.
Así que esto es lo que dice el Señor Todopoderoso, el Dios de Israel: ¡Cuidado! Voy a dar a esta gente ajenjo para comer y agua envenenada para beber.
16 And Y schal scatere hem among hethene men, whiche thei and her fadris knewen not; and Y schal sende swerd aftir hem, til thei ben wastid.
Estoy a punto de dispersarlos entre naciones desconocidas para ellos y para sus antepasados, y enviaré enemigos con espadas para que los persigan hasta que los haya aniquilado.
17 The Lord of oostis, God of Israel, seith these thingis, Biholde ye, and clepe ye wymmen `that weilen, and come thei; and sende ye to tho wymmen that ben wise, and haste thei.
Esto es lo que dice el Señor Todopoderoso: Estén atentos a lo que sucede. Convoquen a las mujeres dolientes profesionales, y pidan lo mejor de ellas.
18 Haste thei, and take thei weilynge on you; youre iyen brynge doun teeris, and youre iyelidis flowe with watris;
Haz que vengan cuanto antes y canten un canto fúnebre sobre nosotros, para que lloremos a mares, para que nuestras lágrimas fluyan como torrentes.
19 for the vois of weilyng is herd fro Sion. Hou ben we distried, and schent greetli? for we han forsake the lond, for oure tabernaclis ben forsakun.
El sonido del llanto viene de Sión: “¡Estamos completamente devastados! Estamos totalmente avergonzados, porque hemos tenido que abandonar nuestro país, porque nuestras casas han sido demolidas”.
20 Therfor, wymmen, here ye the word of the Lord, and youre eeris take the word of his mouth; and teche ye youre douytris weilyng, and ech womman teche hir neiybore mournyng.
Mujeres, escuchen el mensaje del Señor, oigan lo que tiene que decir. Enséñenle a sus hijas a llorar y a cantar cantos de tristeza.
21 For whi deth stiede bi youre wyndows, it entride in to youre housis, to leese litle children with outforth, and yonge men fro the stretis.
La muerte se ha colado por nuestras ventanas; ha entrado en nuestras fortalezas. Ha matado a los niños que juegan en las calles y a los jóvenes que se reúnen en las plazas.
22 Speke thou, the Lord seith, these thingis, And the deed bodi of a man schal fal doun as a toord on the face of the cuntrei, and as hei bihynde the bak of the mowere, and noon is that gaderith.
Díganle a todos que esto es lo que dice el Señor: Los cadáveres quedarán donde caen como el estiércol en los campos, tirados allí como tallos de grano recién cortado detrás del segador, sin que nadie los recoja.
23 The Lord seith these thingis, A wise man haue not glorie in his wisdom, and a strong man haue not glorie in his strengthe, and a riche man haue not glorie in hise richessis; but he that hath glorie,
Esto es lo que dice el Señor: El sabio no debe jactarse de su sabiduría. El fuerte no debe presumir de su fuerza. El rico no debe presumir de sus riquezas.
24 haue glorie in this, to wite and knowe me, for Y am the Lord, that do merci and dom and riytfulnesse in erthe. For whi these thingis plesen me, seith the Lord.
El que quiera vanagloriarse, que se jacte de que me conoce y me entiende de verdad, reconociendo que soy el Señor que actúa con amor fiel, que muestra equidad y que hace lo correcto en toda la tierra, porque esto es lo más importante para mí, declara el Señor.
25 Lo! daies comen, seith the Lord, and Y schal visite on ech man that hath prepucie vncircumcidid; on Egipt,
Cuidado, porque se acerca el momento, declara el Señor, en que castigaré a todos los que sólo se circuncidan físicamente.
26 and on Juda, and on Edom, and on the sones of Amon, and on Moab, and on alle men that ben clippid on long heer, and dwellen in desert; for whi alle hethene men han prepucie, forsothe al the hous of Israel ben vncircumcidid in herte.
Egipto, Judá, Edom, Amón, Moab y todos los pueblos del desierto que se cortan el pelo a los lados de la cabeza: todas estas naciones son incircuncisas, y todos los israelitas son incircuncisos espirituales.
