Jeremiah 8
1 In that tyme, seith the Lord, thei schulen caste out the boonys of the kingis of Juda, and the boonys of princes therof, and the boonys of prestis, and the boonys of profetis, and the boonys of hem that dwelliden in Jerusalem fro her sepulcris;
| خداوند می‌فرماید: «در آن وقت، دشمن قبرهای پادشاهان و بزرگان یهودا، قبرهای کاهنان، انبیا و ساکنان اورشلیم را شکافته، استخوانهایشان را بیرون خواهد آورد، |
2 and thei schulen leie abrood tho boonys to the sunne, and moone, and to al the knyythod of heuene, which thei louyden, and which thei seruyden, and aftir whiche thei yeden, and whiche thei souyten, and worschipiden; tho schulen not be gaderid, and schulen not be biried; tho schulen be in to a dunghil on the face of erthe.
| و روی زمین در مقابل بتهایشان، آفتاب و ماه و ستارگان، پهن خواهد کرد بتهایی که مورد پرستش و علاقهٔ آنان بود و از آنها پیروی می‌کردند. آن استخوانها دیگر جمع‌آوری و دفن نخواهند شد، بلکه مانند فضلهٔ حیوانات بر روی زمین خواهند ماند. |
3 And alle men schulen cheese deth more than lijf, whiche ben left of this worst kynrede, in alle places that ben left, to whiche places Y castide hem out, seith the Lord of oostis.
| کسانی که از این قومِ فاسد زنده بمانند، به هر جایی که ایشان را پراکنده کرده باشم مرگ را بر زندگی ترجیح خواهند داد.» این است آنچه خداوند لشکرهای آسمان می‌فرماید. |
4 And thou schalt seie to hem, The Lord seith these thingis, Whether he that schal falle, schal not rise ayen? and whether he that is turned awei, schal not turne ayen?
| خداوند فرمود تا به قومش چنین بگویم: «کسی که می‌افتد، آیا دوباره بلند نمی‌شود؟ کسی که راه را اشتباه می‌رود، آیا به راه راست باز نمی‌گردد؟ |
5 Whi therfor is this puple in Jerusalem turned awei bi turnyng awei ful of strijf? Thei han take leesyng, and nolden turne ayen.
| پس چرا قوم من، اهالی اورشلیم، دچار گمراهی همیشگی شده‌اند؟ چرا به بتهای دروغین چسبیده‌اند و نمی‌خواهند نزد من بازگردند؟ |
6 Y perseyuede, and herknede; no man spekith that that is good, noon is that doith penaunce for his synne, and seith, What haue Y do? Alle ben turnede togidere to her cours, as an hors goynge bi fersnesse to batel.
| به گفتگوی آنها گوش دادم، ولی یک حرف راست نشنیدم! هیچ‌کس از گناهش پشیمان نیست؟ هیچ‌کس نمی‌گوید:”چه کار زشتی مرتکب شده‌ام؟“بلکه مثل اسبی که با سرعت به میدان جنگ می‌رود، همه با شتاب به سوی راههای گناه‌آلودشان می‌روند! |
7 A kite in the eir knew his tyme; a turtle, and a swalewe, and a siconye, kepten the tyme of her comyng; but my puple knew not the doom of the Lord.
| لک‌لک می‌داند چه وقت کوچ کند؛ همین‌طور فاخته، پرستو و مرغ ماهیخوار؛ هر سال در زمانی که خدا تعیین کرده است، همهٔ آنها باز می‌گردند؛ ولی قوم من زمان بازگشت خود را نمی‌دانند و از قوانین من بی‌اطلاع هستند. |
8 Hou seien ye, We ben wise men, and the lawe of the Lord is with vs? Verili the fals writyng of scribis wrouyte leesyng.
| «چگونه می‌گویید که دانا هستید و قوانین مرا می‌دانید، در حالی که معلمان شما آنها را تغییر داده‌اند تا معنی دیگری بدهند؟ |
9 Wise men ben schent, ben maad aferd and takun. For thei castiden awei the word of the Lord, and no wisdom is in hem.
| این معلمانِ به ظاهر دانای شما برای همین گناه تبعید شده، شرمنده و رسوا خواهند شد. آنها کلام مرا رد کرده‌اند؛ آیا دانایی این است؟ |
10 Therfor Y schal yyue the wymmen of hem to straungeris, and the feeldis of hem to alien eiris; for fro the leeste `til to the mooste alle suen aueryce, fro a profete `til to the preest alle maken leesyng;
| بنابراین زنان و مزرعه‌های ایشان را به دیگران خواهم داد؛ چون همهٔ آنها از کوچک تا بزرگ طمعکارند؛ حتی انبیا و کاهنان نیز فقط در پی آنند که مال مردم را به فریب تصاحب کنند. |
11 and thei heeliden the sorowe of the douytir of my puple to schenschipe, seiynge, Pees, pees, whanne no pees was.
| آنها زخمهای قوم مرا می‌پوشانند گویی چیز چندان مهمی نیست؛ می‌گویند:”آرامش برقرار است!“در حالی که آرامشی وجود ندارد. |
12 Thei ben schent, for thei diden abhomynacioun; yhe, rather thei weren not schent bi schenschipe, and kouden not be aschamed. Therfor thei schulen falle among falleris, in the tyme of her visitacioun thei schulen falle, seith the Lord.
| آیا قوم من از بت‌پرستی شرمنده‌اند؟ نه، ایشان هرگز احساس شرم و حیا نمی‌کنند! از این رو من ایشان را مجازات خواهم کرد و ایشان جان داده، در میان کشتگان خواهند افتاد.» |
13 I gaderynge schal gadere hem, seith the Lord; no grape is in the vynes, and figis ben not in the fige tre; a leef felle doun, and Y yaf to hem tho thingis that ben go out ouer.
| خداوند می‌فرماید: «من تمام محصول زمین ایشان را نابود خواهم ساخت؛ دیگر خوشه‌ای بر درخت مو و انجیری بر درخت انجیر دیده نخواهد شد؛ برگها نیز پژمرده می‌شوند! هر آنچه به ایشان داده‌ام، از میان خواهد رفت.» |
14 Whi sitten we? come ye togidere, entre we in to a strong citee, and be we stille there; for oure Lord hath maad vs to be stille, and yaf to vs drynk the watir of galle; for we han synned to the Lord.
| آنگاه قوم خدا خواهند گفت: «چرا اینجا نشسته‌ایم؟ بیایید به شهرهای حصاردار برویم و آنجا بمیریم؛ زیرا خداوند، خدای ما، ما را محکوم به نابودی کرده و جام زهر داده تا بنوشیم، چون ما نسبت به او گناه ورزیده‌ایم. |
15 We abididen pees, and no good was; we abididen tyme of medicyn, and lo! drede is.
| برای صلح و آرامش انتظار کشیدیم، ولی خبری نشد. چشم به راه شفا و سلامتی بودیم، ولی وحشت و اضطراب گریبانگیر ما شد.» |
16 Gnastyng of horsis therof is herd fro Dan; al the lond is moued of the vois of neiyngis of hise werriours; and thei camen, and deuouriden the lond, and the plente therof, the citee, and the dwelleris therof.
| صدای اسبان دشمن از دان، مرز شمالی، شنیده می‌شود؛ صدای شیهه اسبان نیرومندشان، همه را به لرزه انداخته است؛ چون دشمن می‌آید تا این سرزمین و شهرها و اهالی آن را نابود سازد. |
17 For lo! Y schal sende to you the werste serpentis, to whiche is no charmyng; and thei schulen bite you, seith the Lord.
| خداوند می‌فرماید: «من نیروهای دشمن را مانند مارهای سمی به جان شما خواهم انداخت مارهایی که نمی‌توانید افسونشان کنید؛ هر چه تلاش کنید، باز شما را گزیده، خواهند کشت.» |
18 My sorewe is on sorewe, myn herte is mourenynge in me.
| درد من، درمان نمی‌پذیرد! دل من بی‌تاب است! |
19 And lo! the vois of cry of the douyter of my puple cometh fro a fer lond. Whether the Lord is not in Sion, ethir the kyng therof is not therynne? Whi therfor stiriden thei me to wrathfulnesse bi her grauun ymagis, and bi alien vanytees?
| گوش کنید! ناله‌های قوم من از هر گوشهٔ سرزمین شنیده می‌شود! آنها می‌پرسند: «آیا خداوند در صَهیون نیست؟ آیا پادشاه ما در آنجا نیست؟» خداوند جواب می‌دهد: «چرا با پرستیدن بتها و خدایان غریب خود، خشم مرا شعله‌ور کردید؟» |
20 Heruest is passid, somer is endid; and we ben not sauyd.
| قوم با اندوه می‌گویند: «فصل برداشت محصول گذشت؛ تابستان آمد و رفت؛ ولی ما هنوز نجات نیافته‌ایم!» |
21 Y am turmentid, and sori on the sorewe of the douyter of my puple; astonying helde me.
| دل من به خاطر صدمات و جراحات قومم، خونین است؛ از شدت غم و غصه، ماتم زده و حیرانم. |
22 Whether resyn is not in Galaad, ether a leche is not there? Whi therfor the wounde of the douytir of my puple is not heelid perfitli?
| آیا در جلعاد دارویی نیست؟ آیا در آنجا طبیبی پیدا نمی‌شود؟ پس چرا قوم من شفا نمی‌یابد؟ |
