Jeremiah 50
1 The word which the Lord spak of Babiloyne, and of the lond of Caldeis, in the hond of Jeremye, the profete.
La parole que l'Éternel prononça contre Babylone, contre le pays des Caldéens, par Jérémie, le prophète.
2 Telle ye among hethene men, and make ye herd; reise ye a signe; preche ye, and nyle ye holde stille; seie ye, Babiloyne is takun, Bel is schent, Maradach is ouer comun; the grauun ymagis therof ben schent, the idols of hem ben ouer comun.
Annoncez-le chez les nations, et publiez-le; élevez l'étendard! Publiez-le, ne cachez rien; dites: Babylone est prise; Bel est confondu; Mérodac est brisé; ses idoles sont confondues, et ses faux dieux brisés!
3 For a folk schal stie fro the north ayenus it, which folk schal sette the lond therof in to wildirnesse; and noon schal be that schal dwelle therynne, fro man `til to beeste; and thei ben moued, and yeden a wei.
Car une nation monte contre elle du nord; elle mettra son pays en désolation, et il n'y aura personne qui y demeure. Tant les hommes que les bêtes ont fui; ils sont partis.
4 In tho daies, and in that tyme, seith the Lord, the sones of Israel schulen come, thei and the sones of Juda togidere, goynge and wepynge; thei schulen haaste, and seke her Lord God in Sion,
En ces jours et en ce temps-là, dit l'Éternel, les enfants d'Israël et les enfants de Juda reviendront ensemble; ils marcheront en pleurant, et chercheront l'Éternel, leur Dieu.
5 and thei schulen axe the weie. Hidur the faces of hem schulen come, and thei schulen be set to the Lord with boond of pees euerlastynge, which schal not be don awei by ony foryetyng.
Ils s'informeront du chemin de Sion; ils tourneront vers elle leurs regards: Venez, attachez-vous à l'Éternel, par une alliance éternelle qui ne s'oublie point!
6 My puple is maad a lost floc, the scheepherdis of hem disseyueden hem, and maden to go vnstabli in hillis; thei passiden fro mounteyn in to a litil hil, thei foryaten her bed.
Mon peuple était comme des brebis perdues; leurs bergers les égaraient, et les faisaient errer par les montagnes. Elles allaient de montagne en colline, et oubliaient leur bercail.
7 Alle men that founden, eeten hem, and the enemyes of hem seiden, We synneden not, for that thei synneden to the Lord, the fairnesse of riytfulnesse, and to the Lord, the abidyng of her fadris.
Tous ceux qui les trouvaient les dévoraient, et leurs ennemis disaient: Nous ne serons point coupables, puisqu'ils ont péché contre l'Éternel, la demeure de la justice, contre l'Éternel, l'espérance de leurs pères.
8 Go ye awei fro the myddis of Babiloyne, and go ye out of the lond of Caldeis, and be ye as kydis bifore the floc.
Fuyez hors de Babylone, sortez du pays des Caldéens, et soyez comme les boucs qui vont devant le troupeau!
9 For lo! Y schal reise, and brynge in to Babiloyne the gaderyng togidere of grete folkis, fro the lond of the north; and thei schulen be maad redi ayens it, and it schal be takun in the dai; the arowe therof as of a strong man a sleere, schal not turne ayen voide.
Car voici, je vais susciter et faire venir contre Babylone, du pays du nord, une multitude de grandes nations, qui se rangeront en bataille contre elle, et elle sera prise. Leurs flèches sont comme celles d'un guerrier habile: elles ne retourneront point à vide.
10 And Caldee schal be in to prey, alle that distrien it, schulen be fillid, seith the Lord.
Et la Caldée sera mise au pillage; tous ceux qui la pilleront seront rassasiés, dit l'Éternel.
11 For ye maken ful out ioye, and speken grete thingis, and rauyschen myn eritage; for ye ben sched out as caluys on erbe, and lowiden as bolis.
Parce que vous vous êtes réjouis, parce que vous avez été dans l'allégresse en ravageant mon héritage, parce que vous avez bondi de joie comme une génisse dans l'herbe, et que vous avez henni comme de puissants chevaux,
12 Youre modir is schent greetli, and sche that gendride you, is maad euene to dust; lo! sche schal be the last among folkis, and forsakun, with out weie, and drie.
Votre mère est couverte de honte, celle qui vous a enfantés rougit. Voici, elle est la dernière des nations: un désert, une terre sèche, une lande.
13 For the wraththe of the Lord it schal not be enhabitid, but it schal be dryuun al in to wildirnesse; ech that schal passe bi Babiloyne, schal wondre, and schal hisse on alle the woundis therof.
A cause de la colère de l'Éternel, elle ne sera plus habitée, et tout entière elle ne sera que désolation; quiconque passera près de Babylone sera étonné, et sifflera à cause de toutes ses plaies.
14 Alle ye that beenden bowe, be maad redi ayens Babiloyne bi cumpas; ouercome ye it, spare ye not arowis, for it synnede to the Lord.
Rangez-vous en bataille autour de Babylone, vous tous qui bandez l'arc. Tirez contre elle, et n'épargnez pas les flèches; car elle a péché contre l'Éternel.
15 Crye ye ayens it, euery where it yaf hond; the foundementis therof fellen doun, and the wallis therof ben distried; for it is the veniaunce of the Lord. Take ye veniaunce of it; as it dide, do ye to it.
Jetez de grands cris sur elle tout autour. Elle tend les mains; ses fondements s'écroulent, ses murailles sont renversées; car c'est la vengeance de l'Éternel. Vengez-vous d'elle; faites-lui comme elle a fait.
16 Leese ye a sowere of Babiloyne, and hym that holdith a sikil in the tyme of heruest, fro the face of swerd of the culuer; ech man schal be turned to his puple, and ech man schal flee to his lond.
Retranchez à Babylone celui qui sème, et celui qui tient la faucille au temps de la moisson; devant l'épée qui désole, que chacun retourne vers son peuple, que chacun fuie vers son pays!
17 Israel is a scaterid flok, liouns castiden out it; first kyng Assur eete it, this laste Nabugodonosor, kyng of Babiloyne, dide awei the bonys therof.
Israël est une brebis égarée, que les lions ont chassée. Le roi d'Assyrie l'a dévorée le premier; mais ce dernier, Nébucadnetsar, roi de Babylone, lui a brisé les os.
18 Therfor the Lord of oostis, God of Israel, seith these thingis, Lo! Y schal visite the kyng of Babiloyne, and his lond, as Y visitide the kyng of Assur;
C'est pourquoi, ainsi a dit l'Éternel des armées, le Dieu d'Israël: Voici, je vais visiter le roi de Babylone et son pays, comme j'ai visité le roi d'Assyrie.
19 and Y schal brynge ayen Israel to his dwellyng place. Carmele and Baasan schal be fed, and his soule schal be fillid in the hil of Effraym, and of Galaad.
Et je ferai retourner Israël dans ses demeures. Il paîtra au Carmel et au Bassan; et son âme sera rassasiée sur les montagnes d'Éphraïm et de Galaad.
20 In tho daies, and in that tyme, seith the Lord, the wickidnesse of Israel schal be souyt, and it schal not be; and the synne of Juda schal be souyt, and it schal not be foundun; for Y schal be merciful to hem, whiche Y schal forsake.
En ces jours-là et en ce temps-là, dit l'Éternel, on cherchera l'iniquité d'Israël, mais elle ne sera plus; et les péchés de Juda, mais ils ne se trouveront point; car je pardonnerai à ceux que j'aurai fait demeurer de reste.
21 Stie thou on the lond of lordis, and visite thou on the dwelleris therof; scatere thou, and sle tho thingis, that ben aftir hem, seith the Lord; and do thou bi alle thingis which Y comaundide to thee.
Monte contre le pays doublement rebelle, contre les habitants destinés à la visitation; dévaste, et voue à l'interdit après eux! dit l'Éternel, et fais selon tout ce que je t'ai commandé.
22 The vois of batel and greet sorewe in the lond.
Le cri de guerre est dans le pays, ainsi qu'un grand désastre.
23 Hou is the hamer of al erthe brokun and al defoulid? hou is Babiloyne turned in to desert, among hethene men?
Comment est-il rompu, brisé, le marteau de toute la terre! Comment Babylone est-elle un objet d'étonnement parmi les nations!
24 Babiloyne, Y haue snarid thee, and thou art takun, and thou wistist not; thou art foundun, and takun, for thou terridist the Lord to wraththe.
Je t'ai tendu un piège et tu as été prise, Babylone, à l'improviste. Tu as été trouvée, et saisie, parce que tu t'es attaquée à l'Éternel.
25 The Lord openide his tresour, and brouyte forth the vessels of his wraththe; for whi a werk is to the Lord God of oostis in the lond of Caldeis.
L'Éternel a ouvert son arsenal, il en a tiré les armes de son indignation; parce que le Seigneur, l'Éternel des armées a une œuvre à exécuter dans le pays des Caldéens.
26 Come ye to it fro the fertheste endis, opene ye, that thei go out, that schulen defoule it; take ye awei stoonys fro the weie, and dryue ye in to heepis, and sle ye it, and nothing be residue.
Venez contre elle de toutes parts! Ouvrez ses granges; entassez-la comme des gerbes, vouez-la à l'interdit, et qu'il n'en reste rien!
27 Distrie ye alle the stronge men therof, go thei doun in to sleynge; wo to hem, for the dai of hem cometh, the tyme of visityng of hem.
Égorgez tous ses taureaux; qu'ils descendent à la tuerie! Malheur à eux, car leur jour est venu, le temps de leur visitation!
28 The vois of fleeris, and of hem that ascapiden fro the lond of Babiloyne, that thei telle in Sion the veniaunce of oure Lord God, the veniaunce of his temple.
Écoutez la voix de ceux qui fuient, qui s'échappent du pays de Babylone, pour annoncer dans Sion la vengeance de l'Éternel, notre Dieu, la vengeance de son temple.
29 Telle ye ayens Babiloyne to ful many men, to alle that beenden bowe. Stonde ye togidere ayens it bi cumpas, and noon ascape; yelde ye to it aftir his werk, aftir alle thingis whiche it dide, do ye to it; for it was reisid ayens the Lord, ayens the hooli of Israel.
Assemblez à cri public les archers contre Babylone. Vous tous qui maniez l'arc, campez-vous contre elle tout autour; que personne n'échappe! Rendez-lui selon ses œuvres; faites-lui selon tout ce qu'elle a fait; car elle s'est élevée avec fierté contre l'Éternel, contre le Saint d'Israël.
30 Therfor yonge men therof schulen falle doun in the stretis therof, and alle men werriours therof schulen be stille in that dai, seith the Lord.
C'est pourquoi ses gens d'élite tomberont dans ses places, et tous ses gens de guerre seront anéantis en ce jour-là, dit l'Éternel.
31 Lo! thou proude, Y to thee, seith the Lord God of oostis, for thi dai is comun, the tyme of thi visitacioun.
Voici, j'en veux à toi, orgueilleuse, dit le Seigneur, l'Éternel des armées; car ton jour est venu, le temps de ta visitation.
32 And the proude schal falle, and schal falle doun togidere, and noon schal be, that schal reise hym; and Y schal kyndle fier in the citees of hym, and it schal deuoure alle thingis in cumpas of it.
L'orgueilleuse chancellera et tombera, et personne ne la relèvera! Et je mettrai le feu à ses villes et il dévorera tous ses alentours.
33 The Lord of oostis seith these thingis, The sones of Israel and the sones of Juda togidere suffren fals caleng; alle that token hem, holden, thei nylen delyuere hem.
Ainsi a dit l'Éternel des armées: Les enfants d'Israël et les enfants de Juda sont ensemble opprimés. Tous ceux qui les ont emmenés les retiennent, et refusent de les laisser aller.
34 The ayenbyere of hem is strong, the Lord of oostis is his name; bi dom he schal defende the cause of hem, that he make the lond aferd, and stire togidere the dwelleris of Babiloyne.
Leur Rédempteur est puissant; son nom est l'Éternel des armées. Il défendra certainement leur cause, afin de donner le repos au pays et de mettre dans le trouble les habitants de Babylone.
35 A swerd to Caldeis, seith the Lord, and to the dwelleris of Babiloyne, and to the princes, and to the wise men therof.
L'épée est contre les Caldéens, dit l'Éternel, contre les habitants de Babylone, contre ses chefs et contre ses sages!
36 A swerd to the false dyuynours therof, that schulen be foolis; a swerd to the stronge men therof, that schulen drede.
L'épée est contre ses imposteurs; qu'ils soient reconnus insensés! L'épée est contre ses vaillants hommes; qu'ils soient éperdus!
37 Swerd to the horsis therof, and to the charis therof, and to al the comyn puple whiche is in the myddis therof, and thei schulen be as wymmen; a swerd to the tresours therof, that schulen be rauyschid.
L'épée contre ses chevaux, et contre ses chars, et contre les gens de toute espèce qui sont au milieu d'elle; qu'ils deviennent comme des femmes! L'épée contre ses trésors; qu'ils soient pillés!
38 Drynesse schal be on the watris therof, and tho schulen be drye; for it is the lond of grauun ymagis, and hath glorie in false feynyngis.
La sécheresse contre ses eaux; qu'elles tarissent! Car c'est le pays des images taillées; ils sont fous de leurs idoles monstrueuses.
39 Therfor dragouns schulen dwelle with fonned wielde men, and ostrigis schulen dwelle therynne; and it schal no more be enhabitid `til in to with outen ende, and it schal not be bildid `til to generacioun and generacioun;
C'est pourquoi les bêtes sauvages y feront leur gîte avec les chacals, les autruches y feront leur demeure; elle ne sera plus jamais habitée, et d'âge en âge on n'y demeurera plus.
40 as the Lord distriede Sodom and Gomorre, and the niy citees therof, seith the Lord. A man schal not dwelle there, and the sone of man schal not dwelle in it.
Comme dans la destruction que Dieu fit de Sodome et de Gomorrhe et des lieux voisins, a dit l'Éternel, il n'y habitera personne et aucun fils d'homme n'y séjournera!
41 Lo! a puple cometh fro the north, and a greet folc, and many kyngis schulen rise togidere fro the endis of erthe.
Voici, un peuple vient du nord, une grande nation et des rois nombreux se réveillent du fond de la terre.
42 Thei schulen take bowe and swerd, thei ben cruel and vnmerciful; the vois of hem schal sowne as the see, and thei schulen stie on horsis as a man maad redi to batel, ayens thee, thou douyter of Babiloyne.
Ils prennent l'arc et le javelot; ils sont cruels et n'ont point de compassion; leur voix gronde comme la mer; ils sont montés sur des chevaux, rangés comme un seul homme pour le combat, contre toi, fille de Babylone!
43 The kyng of Babiloyne herde the fame of hem, and hise hondis ben aclumsid; angwisch took hym, sorewe took hym, as a womman trauelynge of child.
Le roi de Babylone en a entendu le bruit, et ses mains sont devenues lâches; l'angoisse le saisit, la douleur, comme celle qui enfante.
44 Lo! as a lioun he schal stie fro the pride of Jordan to the stronge fairnesse, for Y schal make hym to renne sudenli to it; and who schal be the chosun man, whom Y schal sette bifore him? For who is lijk me? and who schal suffre me? and who is this scheepherde, that schal ayenstonde my cheer?
Voici, tel qu'un lion, il monte des bords orgueilleux du Jourdain vers la demeure forte; car, en un moment, je les ferai courir sur elle, et je donnerai mission contre elle à celui que j'ai choisi; car qui est semblable à moi? Qui m'assignera et quel est le berger qui me résistera?
45 Therfore here ye the councel of the Lord, which he conseyuede in mynde ayens Babiloyne, and hise thouytis, whiche he thouyte on the lond of Caldeis, no but the litle of the flockis drawen hem doun, no but the dwellyng place of hem be destried with hem, ellis no man yyue credence to me.
C'est pourquoi écoutez la résolution que l'Éternel a prise contre Babylone, et les desseins qu'il a formés contre le pays des Caldéens. Certainement on les traînera comme les plus petits du troupeau! certainement on détruira sur eux leur demeure!
46 The erthe is mouyd of the vois of caitiftee of Babiloyne, and cry is herd among hethene men.
Au bruit de la prise de Babylone la terre a été ébranlée, et le cri en a été entendu parmi les nations.
