Jeremiah 43
1 Forsothe it was don, whanne Jeremye spekinge to the puple hadde fillid alle the wordis of the Lord God of hem, for whiche the Lord God of hem sente hym to hem, alle these wordis,
Lorsque Jérémie eut achevé de dire à tout le peuple toutes les paroles de l’Éternel, leur Dieu, toutes ces paroles que l’Éternel, leur Dieu, l’avait chargé de leur dire,
2 Azarie, the sone of Josie, seide, and Johanna, the sone of Caree, and alle proude men, seiynge to Jeremye, Thou spekist a leesyng; oure Lord God sente not thee, and seide, Entre ye not in to Egipt, to dwelle there;
Azaria, fils d’Hosée, Jochanan, fils de Karéach, et tous ces hommes orgueilleux, dirent à Jérémie: Tu dis un mensonge: l’Éternel, notre Dieu, ne t’a point chargé de nous dire: N’allez pas en Égypte pour y demeurer.
3 but Baruc, the sone of Nerie, stirith thee ayens vs, that he bitake vs in the hondis of Caldeis, that he sle vs, and make to be led ouer in to Babiloyne.
Mais c’est Baruc, fils de Nérija, qui t’excite contre nous, afin de nous livrer entre les mains des Chaldéens, pour qu’ils nous fassent mourir ou nous emmènent captifs à Babylone.
4 And Johanna, the sone of Caree, and alle the princes of werriours, and al the puple, herden not the vois of the Lord, that thei dwellen in the lond of Juda.
Jochanan, fils de Karéach, tous les chefs des troupes, et tout le peuple, n’obéirent point à la voix de l’Éternel, qui leur ordonnait de rester dans le pays de Juda.
5 But Johanna, the sone of Caree, and alle the princes of werriours, token alle of the remenauntis of Juda, that turneden ayen fro alle folkis, to whiche thei weren scatered bifore, that thei schulden dwelle in the lond of Juda;
Et Jochanan, fils de Karéach, et tous les chefs des troupes, prirent tous les restes de Juda, qui, après avoir été dispersés parmi toutes les nations, étaient revenus pour habiter le pays de Juda,
6 thei token men, and wymmen, and litle children, and the douytris of the kyng, and ech persoone, whom Nabusardan, the prince of chyualrie, hadde left with Godolie, the sone of Aicham, sone of Saphan. And thei token Jeremye, the profete, and Baruc, the sone of Nerie,
les hommes, les femmes, les enfants, les filles du roi, et toutes les personnes que Nebuzaradan, chef des gardes, avait laissées avec Guedalia, fils d’Achikam, fils de Schaphan, et aussi Jérémie, le prophète, et Baruc, fils de Nérija.
7 and thei entriden in to the lond of Egipt; for thei obeieden not to the vois of the Lord, and thei camen `til to Taphnys.
Ils allèrent au pays d’Égypte, car ils n’obéirent pas à la voix de l’Éternel, et ils arrivèrent à Tachpanès.
8 And the word of the Lord was maad to Jeremye in Taphnys,
La parole de l’Éternel fut adressée à Jérémie, à Tachpanès, en ces mots:
9 and seide, Take in thin hond grete stoonys, and hide thou tho in a denne, which is vndur the wal of tiil stoon, in the yate of the hous of Farao, in Taphnys, while alle Jewis seen.
Prends dans ta main de grandes pierres, et cache-les, en présence des Juifs, dans l’argile du four à briques qui est à l’entrée de la maison de Pharaon à Tachpanès.
10 And thou schalt seie to hem, The Lord of oostis, God of Israel, seith these thingis, Lo! Y schal sende, and Y schal take Nabugodonosor, my seruaunt, the kyng of Babiloyne; and Y schal sette his trone on these stoonys, whiche Y hidde; and he schal sette his seete on tho stoonys.
Et tu diras aux Juifs: Ainsi parle l’Éternel des armées, le Dieu d’Israël: Voici, j’enverrai chercher Nebucadnetsar, roi de Babylone, mon serviteur, et je placerai son trône sur ces pierres que j’ai cachées, et il étendra son tapis sur elles.
11 And he schal come, and smyte the lond of Egipt, whiche in deth in to deth, and whiche in caitiftee in to caitiftee, and whiche in swerd in to swerd.
Il viendra, et il frappera le pays d’Égypte; à la mort ceux qui sont pour la mort, à la captivité ceux qui sont pour la captivité, à l’épée ceux qui sont pour l’épée!
12 And he schal kindle fier in the templis of goddis of Egipt, and he schal brenne tho templis, and schal lede hem prisoneris; and the lond of Egipt schal be wlappid, as a scheepherd is wlappid in his mentil; and he schal go out fro thennus in pees.
Je mettrai le feu aux maisons des dieux de l’Égypte; Nebucadnetsar les brûlera, il emmènera captives les idoles, il s’enveloppera du pays d’Égypte comme le berger s’enveloppe de son vêtement, et il sortira de là en paix.
13 And he schal al to-breke the ymagis of the hous of the sunne, that ben in the lond of Egipt; and he schal brenne in fier the templis of the goddis of Egipt.
Il brisera les statues de Beth-Schémesch au pays d’Égypte, et il brûlera par le feu les maisons des dieux de l’Égypte.
