Jeremiah 4
1 Israel, if thou turnest ayen, seith the Lord, turne thou to me; if thou takist awei thin offendyngis fro my face, thou schalt not be mouyd.
याहवेह की यह वाणी है, “इस्राएल, यदि तुम लौटो, तो तुम्हारा मेरे पास लौट आना उपयुक्त होगा, यदि तुम वे घृणास्पद वस्तुएं मेरे समक्ष से दूर कर दो और यदि तुम अपने संकल्प से विचलित न हो,
2 And thou schalt swere, The Lord lyueth, in treuthe and in doom and in riytfulnesse; and alle folkis schulen blesse hym, and schulen preise hym.
और तुम पूर्ण निष्ठा में, न्यायपूर्णता में तथा पूर्वजों में यह शपथ लो, ‘जीवित याहवेह की शपथ,’ तब जनता स्वयं ही याहवेह द्वारा आशीषित की जाएंगी तथा याहवेह में उनका गौरव हो जाएगा.”
3 For the Lord God seith these thingis to a man of Juda and to a dwellere of Jerusalem, Make ye newe to you a lond tilid of the newe, and nyle ye sowe on thornes.
यहूदिया एवं येरूशलेम के निवासियों के लिए याहवेह का आदेश है: “उस भूमि पर हल चला दो, कंटीली भूमि में बीजारोपण न करो.
4 Men of Juda, and dwelleris of Jerusalem, be ye circumcidid to the Lord, and do ye awey the filthis of youre hertis; lest perauenture myn indignacioun go out as fier, and be kyndlid, and noon be that quenche, for the malice of youre thouytis.
यहूदिया तथा येरूशलेम के वासियो, याहवेह के लिए अपना ख़तना करो, ख़तना अपने हृदय की खाल का करो, अन्यथा मेरा कोप अग्नि-समान भड़क उठेगा और यह ज्वाला ऐसी होगी, जिसे अलग करना किसी के लिए संभव न होगा— क्योंकि यह तुम्हारे दुष्कर्मों का परिणाम है.
5 Telle ye in Juda, and make ye herd in Jerusalem; speke ye, and synge ye with a trumpe in the lond; crye ye strongli, and seie ye, Be ye gaderid togidere, and entre we in to stronge citees.
“यहूदिया में प्रचार करो और येरूशलेम में यह वाणी कहो: ‘सारे देश में नरसिंगा का नाद करो!’ उच्च स्वर में यह कहा जाए: ‘सब एकत्र हों! तथा हम सब गढ़ नगरों में शरण ले लें!’
6 Reise ye a signe in Sion, coumforte ye, and nyle ye stonde; for Y bringe yuel fro the north, and a greet sorewe.
ज़ियोन की ओर झंडा ऊंचा किया जाए! चुपचाप खड़े न रहो, आश्रय की खोज करो! क्योंकि मैं उत्तर दिशा से महा संकट ला रहा हूं, यह पूरा विनाश होगा.”
7 A lioun schal `rise vp fro his denne, and the robbere of folkis schal reise hym silf. He is goon out of his place, to sette thi lond in to wildirnesse; thi citees schulen be distried, abidynge stille with out dwellere.
झाड़ियों में छिपा सिंह बाहर निकल आया है; राष्ट्रों का विनाशक प्रस्थित हो चुका है. वह अपने आवास से बाहर आ चुका है कि वह तुम्हारे देश को निर्जन बना दे. तुम्हारे नगर खंडहर रह जाएंगे उनमें कोई भी निवासी न रह जाएगा.
8 On this thing girde you with heiris; weile ye, and yelle, for the wraththe of the strong veniaunce of the Lord is not turned awei fro you.
तब साधारण वस्त्र धारण करो, रोओ और विलाप करो, क्योंकि याहवेह का प्रचंड क्रोध हमसे दूर नहीं हटा है.
9 And it schal be, in that dai, seith the Lord, the herte of the king schal perische, and the herte of princis; and the prestis schulen wondre, and the prophetis schulen be astonyed.
“उस दिन ऐसा होगा,” यह याहवेह की वाणी है, “राजा का तथा उच्चाधिकारी का साहस शून्य हो जाएगा, तब पुरोहित भयभीत एवं, भविष्यद्वक्ता अचंभित रह जाएंगे.”
10 And Y seide, Alas! alas! alas! Lord God; therfor whether thou hast disseyued this puple and Jerusalem, seiynge, Pees schal be to you, and lo! a swerd is comun `til to the soule?
इस पर मैं कह उठा, “प्रभु याहवेह! आपने तो येरूशलेम के निवासियों को यह आश्वासन देते हुए पूर्णतः धोखे में रखा हुआ है, ‘तुम शांत एवं सुरक्षित रहोगे,’ जबकि उनके गर्दन पर तलवार रखी हुई है!”
11 In that tyme it schal be seide to this puple and to Jerusalem, A brennynge wynd in the weies that ben in desert, ben the weies of the douytir of my puple, not to wyndewe, and not to purge.
उस समय इस प्रजा एवं येरूशलेम से कहा जाएगा, “मरुभूमि की वनस्पतिहीन ऊंचाइयों से मेरे आदेश पर एक प्रबल उष्ण वायु प्रवाह उठेगा, उसका लक्ष्य होगा मेरी प्रजा की पुत्री; यह वायु सुनसान तथा समाप्ति के लिए नहीं है. अब मैं उनके विरुद्ध न्याय-दंड घोषित करूंगा.”
12 A spirit ful of hem schal come to me; and now Y, but Y schal speke my domes with hem.
13 Lo! he schal stie as a cloude, and hise charis as a tempest; hise horsis ben swifter than eglis; wo to vs, for we ben distried.
देखो! वह घुमड़ते मेघों के सदृश बढ़ा चला आ रहा है, उसके रथ बवंडर सदृश हैं, उसके घोड़े गरुड़ों से अधिक द्रुतगामी हैं. धिक्कार है हम पर! हम मिट गए है!
14 Thou Jerusalem, waische thin herte fro malice, that thou be maad saaf. Hou long schulen noiful thouytis dwelle in thee?
येरूशलेम, अपने दुष्ट हृदय को धोकर साफ़ करो, कि तुम सुरक्षित रह सको. और कब तक तुममें कुविचारों का निवास रहेगा?
15 For whi the vois of a tellere fro Dan, and makynge knowun an idol fro the hil of Effraym.
दान से एक स्वर कह रहा है, एफ्राईम पर्वत से बुराई का प्रचार किया जा रहा है.
16 Reise, ye folkis; lo! it is herd in Jerusalem that keperis ben comun fro a fer lond, and yyuen her vois on the citees of Juda.
“इसी समय राष्ट्रों में सूचना प्रसारित की जाए, येरूशलेम में इसका प्रचार किया जाए: ‘जो नगर की घेराबंदी करेंगे वे दूर देश से आ रहे हैं, वे यहूदिया के नगरों के विरुद्ध अपने स्वर उठाएंगे.
17 As the keperis of feeldis thei ben maad on it in cumpas; for it stiride me to wrathfulnesse, seith the Lord.
खेत के प्रहरियों सदृश वे अपना घेरा छोटा करते जा रहे हैं, यह इसलिये कि उसने मेरे विरुद्ध विद्रोह किया है,’” यह याहवेह की वाणी है.
18 Thi weyes and thi thouytis han maad this to thee; this malice of thee, for it is bittir, for it touchide thin herte.
“तुम्हारे आचरण एवं तुम्हारे कार्यों के कारण यह स्थिति आई है. तुम्हारा है यह संकट. कितना कड़वा! इसने तुम्हारे हृदय को बेध दिया है!”
19 Mi wombe akith, my wombe akith; the wittis of myn herte ben disturblid in me. Y schal not be stille, for my soule herde the vois of a trumpe, the cry of batel.
मेरे प्राण, ओ मेरे प्राण! मैं अकाल पीड़ा में हूं. आह मेरा हृदय! मेरे अंदर में हृदय धड़क रहा है, मैं शांत नहीं रह सकता. क्योंकि मेरे प्राण, मैंने नरसिंगा नाद, युद्ध की ललकार, सुनी है.
20 Sorewe is clepid on sorewe, and al the lond is distried; my tabernaclis ben wastid sudeynli, my skynnes ben wastid sudeynli.
विध्वंस पर विध्वंस की वाणी की गई है; क्योंकि देश उध्वस्त किया जा चुका है. अचानक मेरे तंबू ध्वस्त हो गए हैं, मेरे पर्दे क्षण मात्र में नष्ट हो गए हैं.
21 Hou longe schal Y se hem that fleen, schal Y here the vois of a clarioun?
मैं कब तक झंडा-पताका को देखता रहूं और कब तक नरसिंगा नाद मेरे कानों में पड़ता रहेगा?
22 For my fonned puple knew not me; thei ben vnwise sones, and cowardis; thei ben wise to do yuels, but thei kouden not do wel.
“क्योंकि निर्बुद्धि है मेरी प्रजा; वह मुझे नहीं जानती. वे मूर्ख बालक हैं; उनमें समझ का अभाव है. अधर्म के लिए उनमें बुद्धि अवश्य है; किंतु सत्कर्म उनसे किया नहीं जाता है.”
23 Y bihelde the lond, and lo! it was void, and nouyt; and Y bihelde heuenes, and no liyt was in tho.
मैंने पृथ्वी पर दृष्टि की, और पाया कि वह आकार रहित तथा रिक्त थी; मैंने आकाश की ओर दृष्टि उठाई और मैंने पाया, कि वहां कोई ज्योति-स्रोत न था.
24 Y siy munteyns, and lo! tho weren mouyd, and all litle hillis weren disturblid.
मैंने पर्वतों की ओर दृष्टि की, और देखा कि वे कांप रहे थे; और पहाड़ियां इधर-उधर सरक रही थी.
25 Y lokide, and no man was, and ech brid of heuene was gon a wey.
मैंने ध्यान दिया, कि वहां कोई मनुष्य नहीं था; तथा आकाश के सारे पक्षी पलायन कर चुके थे.
26 Y bihelde, and lo! Carmele is forsakun, and alle citees therof ben distried fro the face of the Lord, and fro the face of the ire of his strong veniaunce.
मैंने देखा, और यह पाया कि फलदायी देश अब निर्जन प्रदेश हो चुका था; तथा इस देश के सारे नगर याहवेह तथा उनके उग्र कोप के समक्ष ध्वस्त हो चुके थे.
27 For the Lord seith these thingis, Al the lond schal be forsakun, but netheles Y schal not make an endyng.
यह याहवेह की वाणी है: “सारा देश निर्जन हो जाएगा, फिर भी मैं इसका पूरा विनाश न करूंगा.
28 The erthe schal mourne, and heuenys aboue schulen make sorewe, for that Y spak; Y thouyte, and it repentide not me, nether Y am turned awei fro it.
इसके लिए पृथ्वी विलाप करेगी तथा ऊपर आकाश काला पड़ जाएगा, इसलिये कि मैं यह कह चुका हूं और मैं निर्धारित कर चुका हूं, मैं न अपना विचार परिवर्तित करूंगा और न ही मैं पीछे हटूंगा.”
29 Ech citee fledde fro the vois of a knyyt, and of a man schetynge an arowe; thei entriden in to hard places, and stieden in to roochis of stoon; alle citees ben forsakun, and no man dwellith in tho.
घुड़सवार एवं धनुर्धारियों की ध्वनि सुन हर एक नगर भागने लगता है. वे झाड़ियों में जा छिपते हैं; वे चट्टानों पर चढ़ जाते हैं. सभी नगर छोड़े जा चुके हैं; उनमें कोई भी निवास नहीं कर रहा.
30 But what schalt thou `destried do? Whanne thou schalt clothe thee with reed scarlet, whanne thou schalt be ourned with a goldun broche, and schalt anoynte thin iyen with wommans oynement, thou schalt be araied in veyn; thi louyeris han dispisid thee, thei schulen seke thi soule.
और तुम जो निर्जन हो, अब क्या करोगी? यद्यपि तुम भड़कीले वस्त्र धारण किए हुए हो, यद्यपि तुमने स्वयं को स्वर्ण आभूषणों से सुसज्जित किया है? यद्यपि तुमने अपने नेत्रों का श्रृंगार कर उन्हें सजाया है? स्वयं को ऐसा सुरम्य स्वरूप देना व्यर्थ है. तुम्हारे प्रेमियों के लिए तो तुम अब घृणित हो गई हो; वे तो अब तुम्हारे प्राणों के प्यासे हैं.
31 For Y herd a vois as of a womman trauelynge of child, the angwischis as of a womman childynge; the vois of the douyter of Sion among hem that dien, and spreden abrood her hondis; Wo to me, for my soule failide for hem that ben slayn.
मुझे ऐसी कराहट सुनाई दी मानो कोई प्रसूता की कराहट हो ऐसी वेदना का स्वर, जैसा उस स्त्री को होता है जिसका पहला प्रसव हो रहा हो. यह पुकार ज़ियोन की पुत्री की चिल्लाहट है जिसका श्वांस फूल रहा है, वह अपने हाथ फैलाकर कह रही है, “हाय! धिक्कार है मुझ पर; मुझे तो हत्यारों के समक्ष मूर्च्छा आ रही है.”
