Jeremiah 33
1 And the word of the Lord was maad to Jeremye, in the secounde tyme, whanne he was closid yit in the porche of the prisoun, and seide,
La parole de l’Eternel fut adressée une seconde fois à Jérémie, alors qu’il était encore détenu dans la cour de la prison, en ces termes:
2 The Lord seith these thingis, The Lord is name of hym, that schal do, and fourme, and make redi that thing;
"Voici ce que dit l’Eternel qui prépare tout cela, qui le conçoit et le réalise l’Eternel est son nom:
3 Crye thou to me, and Y schal here thee, and Y schal telle to thee grete thingis, and stidfast, whiche thou knowist not.
Invoque-moi et je te répondrai; je te révélerai de grandes choses, des choses inaccessibles que tu ne connais point.
4 For the Lord God of Israel seith these thingis to the housis of this citee, and to the housis of the kyng of Juda, that ben distried, and to the strengthingis,
Oui, ainsi parle l’Eternel, Dieu d’Israël, au sujet des maisons de cette ville et des maisons des rois de Juda détruites par les machines de guerre et le glaive,
5 and to the swerd of men comynge to fiyte with Caldeis, and to fille tho housis with careyns of men, which Y smoot in my strong veniaunce, and in myn indignacioun; and Y hidde my face fro this citee, for al the malice of hem.
maisons d’où l’on est allé combattre les Chaldéens, de façon à les joncher de corps humains que j’ai frappés dans ma colère et mon indignation, après avoir détourné ma face de cette ville, si pleine de perversité:
6 Lo! Y schal close togidere to hem a wounde and helthe, and Y schal make hem hool, and Y schal schewe to hem the bisechyng of pees and of treuthe;
Voici, j’apporterai à cette ville un remède efficace, la guérison, je rétablirai leur santé et leur ouvrirai une source abondante de paix et de vérité.
7 and Y schal conuerte the conuersioun of Juda, and Y schal conuerte the conuersioun of Jerusalem, and Y schal bilde hem, as at the bigynnyng.
Je ramènerai les captifs de Juda et les captifs d’Israël et les installerai comme autrefois.
8 And Y schal clense hem fro al her wickidnesse, in which thei synneden to me, and Y schal be merciful to alle the wickidnessis of hem, in which thei trespassiden to me, and forsoken me.
Je les purifierai de toutes les fautes commises contre moi, je pardonnerai tous les péchés par lesquels ils se sont rendus coupables et infidèles à mon égard.
9 And thei schulen be to me in to a name, and in to ioye, and in to heriyng, and in to ful out ioiyng to alle folkis of erthe, that herden alle the goodis whiche Y schal do to hem; and thei schulen drede, and schulen be disturblid in alle goodis, and in al the pees, which Y schal do to hem.
Et cette ville sera pour moi une gloire, une cause de joie, un honneur et un triomphe en face de toutes les nations de la terre, qui apprendront tout le bien dont je la comble, et seront saisies d’émoi et de crainte à la vue de tout ce bien-être et de cette pleine sécurité que je lui octroie.
10 The Lord seith these thingis, Yit in this place, which ye seien to be forsakun, for no man is nether beeste in the citees of Juda, and in the yatis of Jerusalem, that ben desolat, without man, and with out dwellere,
Ainsi parle l’Eternel: De nouveau on entendra dans ce lieu-ci qui, dites-vous, est ruiné, privé d’hommes et d’animaux, dans les villes de Juda et les rues de Jérusalem, désolées faute d’hommes, faute d’habitants et faute de bétail,
11 and with out beeste, the vois of ioye schal be herd, and the vois of gladnesse, the vois of spouse, and the vois of spousesse, the vois of men, seiynge, Knowleche ye to the Lord of oostis, for the Lord is good, for his merci is with outen ende, and of men berynge vowis in to the hous of the Lord; for Y schal brynge ayen the conuersioun of the lond, as at the bigynnyng, seith the Lord.
on entendra des accents d’allégresse, des cris de joie, le chant du fiancé et le chant de la fiancée, la voix de ceux qui s’écrient: "Rendez hommage à l’Eternel-Cebaot, car l’Eternel est bon et sa grâce est immuable!" tout en apportant des offrandes au Temple du Seigneur, car je rétablirai les exilés de ce pays, comme ils y étaient jadis, dit l’Eternel.
12 The Lord of oostis seith these thingis, Yit in this forsakun place, with out man, and with out beeste, and in alle citees therof, schal be a dwellyng place of scheepherdis, of flockis ligynge.
Ainsi parle l’Eternel-Cebaot: De nouveau, il y aura dans cette contrée qui est en ruines, privée aussi bien d’animaux que d’hommes, et dans toutes ses villes, des stations pour les bergers qui y feront gîter leurs troupeaux.
13 And in the citees in hilli places, and in the citees in feeldi places, and in the citees that ben at the south, and in the lond of Beniamyn, and in the cumpas of Jerusalem, and in the citees of Juda, yit flockis schulen passe, at the hond of the noumbrere, seith the Lord.
Dans les villes de la montagne, dans les villes de la plaine, dans les villes du Midi, sur le territoire de Benjamin, aux alentours de Jérusalem et dans les villes de Juda, les brebis défileront de nouveau sous les regards pour être comptées, dit l’Eternel.
14 Lo! daies comen, seith the Lord, and Y schal reise the good word, which Y spak to the hous of Israel, and to the hous of Juda.
Voici, des jours vont venir, dit l’Eternel, où j’accomplirai la bonne promesse que j’ai faite à la maison d’Israël et à la maison de Juda.
15 In tho daies, and in that tyme, Y schal make the seed of riytfulnesse to buriowne to Dauid, and he schal make doom and riytfulnesse in erthe.
En ces jours et à cette époque, je ferai sortir de David un rejeton juste, qui exercera le droit et la justice dans le pays.
16 In tho daies Juda schal be sauyd, and Israel schal dwelle tristili; and this is the name which thei schulen clepe hym, Oure riytful Lord.
En ces jours, Juda sera libéré et Jérusalem vivra en sécurité, et voici le nom dont on la désignera: "l’Eternel est notre droit!"
17 For the Lord seith these thingis, A man of Dauid schal not perische, that shal sitte on the trone of the hous of Israel;
Ainsi, en effet, parle l’Eternel: "Jamais il ne manquera à David un descendant pour s’asseoir sur le trône de la maison d’Israël.
18 and of preestis and dekenes a man schal not perische fro my face, that schal offre brent sacrifices, and brenne sacrifice, and sle sacrifice, in alle daies.
De même, les prêtres-lévites ne cesseront d’avoir devant moi des descendants pour offrir des holocaustes, faire fumer des oblations et pourvoir aux sacrifices en tout temps."
19 And the word of the Lord was maad to Jeremye,
La parole de l’Eternel fut adressée à Jérémie en ces termes:
20 and seide, The Lord seith these thingis, If my couenaunt with the dai and my couenaunt with the niyt mai be maad voide, that the dai and the niyt be not in his tyme;
"Ainsi parle le Seigneur: Si vous pouvez rompre mon pacte avec le jour et mon pacte avec la nuit, empêcher le jour et la nuit d’apparaître en leur temps,
21 and my couenaunt with Dauid, my seruaunt, mai be voide, that of hym be no sone, that schal regne in his trone, and no dekenes, and preestis, my mynistris;
alors aussi pourra être rompu mon pacte avec David, pour qu’il n’ait plus de fils occupant son trône, ainsi que mon pacte avec les lévites, les prêtres, mes ministres.
22 as the sterris of heuene moun not be noumbrid, and the grauel of the see mai not be metun, so Y schal multiplie the seed of Dauid, my seruaunt, and dekenes, my mynystris.
L’Armée céleste ne saurait être dénombrée, ni mesuré le sable de la mer: ainsi je multiplierai la postérité de mon serviteur David et les lévites attachés à mon service."
23 And the word of the Lord was maad to Jeremye, and seide, Whether thou hast not seyn,
La parole du Seigneur fut adressée à Jérémie en ces termes:
24 that this puple spak, seiynge, Twei kynredis whiche the Lord chees, ben cast awei, and thei dispisiden my puple, for it is no more a folc bifore hem.
"Ne vois-tu pas quels discours tiennent ces gens? Ils disent: Les deux familles que l’Eternel avait élues, il les a rejetées! De la sorte ils outragent mon peuple comme s’il avait cessé de former une nation à leurs yeux.
25 The Lord seith these thingis, If Y settide not my couenaunt bitwixe dai and niyt, and if Y settide not lawis to heuene and erthe;
Ainsi parle le Seigneur: Si mon pacte avec le jour et la nuit pouvait ne plus subsister, si je cessais de fixer des lois au ciel et à la terre,
26 sotheli and Y schal caste awei the seed of Jacob, and of Dauid, my seruaunt, that Y take not of the seed of hym princes, of the seed of Abraham, of Isaac, and of Jacob; for Y schal brynge ayen the conuersioun of hem, and Y schal haue merci on hem.
alors seulement je pourrais repousser la postérité de Jacob et de mon serviteur David, en n’y prenant pas de princes pour régner sur les enfants d’Abraham, d’Isaac et de Jacob, quand je les aurai ramenés de l’exil et pris en pitié."
