Jeremiah 19
1 The Lord seith these thingis, Go thou, and take an erthene potel of a pottere, of the eldre men of the puple, and of the eldre men of preestis.
Ainsi a dit l'Eternel: va, et achète une bouteille de terre d'un potier, et [prends] des anciens du peuple, et des anciens des Sacrificateurs;
2 And go thou out to the valei of the sones of Ennon, which is bisidis the entring of the erthene yate; and there thou schalt preche the wordis whiche Y schal speke to thee;
Et sors à la vallée du fils de Hinnom, qui est auprès de l'entrée de la porte Orientale, et crie là les paroles que je te dirai.
3 and thou schalt seie, Kyngis of Juda, and the dwelleris of Jerusalem, here ye the word of the Lord. The Lord of oostis, God of Israel, seith these thingis, Lo! Y schal bringe in turment on this place, so that ech man that herith it, hise eeris tyngle.
Dis donc: Rois de Juda, et vous habitants de Jérusalem, écoutez la parole de l'Eternel: ainsi a dit l'Eternel des armées, le Dieu d'Israël: voici, je m'en vais faire venir sur ce lieu-ci un mal, tel que quiconque l'entendra, les oreilles lui en tinteront.
4 For thei han forsake me, and maad alien this place, and offriden sacrifices to alien goddis ther ynne, whiche thei, and the fadris of hem, and the kingis of Juda, knewen not; and thei filliden this place with the blood of innocentis,
Parce qu'ils m'ont abandonné, et qu'ils ont profané ce lieu, et y ont fait des encensements à d'autres dieux, que ni eux, ni leurs pères, ni les Rois de Juda n'ont point connus, et parce qu'ils ont rempli ce lieu du sang des innocents;
5 and bildiden hiy thingis to Baalym, to brenne her sones in fier, in to brent sacrifice to Baalym; whiche thingis Y comaundide not, nether spak, nether tho stieden in to myn herte.
Et qu'ils ont bâti des hauts lieux de Bahal, afin de brûler au feu leurs fils pour en faire des holocaustes à Bahal, ce que je n'ai point commandé, et dont je n'ai point parlé, et à quoi je n'ai jamais pensé;
6 Therfor the Lord seith, Lo! daies comen, and this place schal no more be clepid Tophet, and the valei of the sone of Ennon, but the valei of sleyng.
A cause de cela voici, les jours viennent, dit l'Eternel, que ce lieu-ci ne sera plus appelé Topheth, ni la vallée du fils de Hinnom, mais la vallée de la tuerie.
7 And Y schal distrie the councel of Juda and of Jerusalem in this place, and Y schal distrie hem bi swerd, in the siyt of her enemyes, and in the hond of men sekynge the lyues of hem; and Y schal yyue her deed bodies mete to the briddis of the eir, and to beestis of erthe.
Et j'anéantirai le conseil de Juda et de Jérusalem en ce lieu-ci, et je les ferai tomber par l'épée en la présence de leurs ennemis, et en la main de ceux qui cherchent leur vie; et je donnerai leurs corps morts à manger aux oiseaux des cieux et aux bêtes de la terre.
8 And Y schal sette this citee in to wondring, and in to hissing; ech that passith bi it, schal wondre, and hisse on al the veniaunce therof.
Je détruirai cette ville, et je la couvrirai d'opprobre; quiconque passera près d'elle sera étonné, et lui insultera à cause de toutes ses plaies.
9 And Y schal feede hem with the fleischis of her sones, and with the fleischis of her douytris; and ech man schal ete the fleischis of his frend in the bisegyng and angwisch, in which the enemyes of hem, and thei that seken the lyues of hem, schulen close hem togidere.
Et je leur ferai manger la chair de leurs fils, et la chair de leurs filles; et chacun mangera la chair de son compagnon durant le siège, et dans l'extrémité où les réduiront leurs ennemis, et ceux qui cherchent leur vie.
10 And thou schalt al to-breke the potel bifore the iyen of the men, that schulen go with thee.
Puis tu casseras la bouteille en présence de ceux qui seront allés avec toi;
11 And thou schalt seie to hem, The Lord of oostis seith these thingis, So Y schal al to-breke this puple, and this citee, as the vessel of a pottere is al to-brokun, which mai no more be restorid; and thei schulen be biried in Tophet, for noon other place is to birie.
Et tu leur diras: ainsi a dit l'Eternel des armées: je briserai ce peuple et cette ville, de même qu'on brise un vaisseau de potier, qui ne peut être soudé, et ils seront ensevelis à Topheth, parce qu'il [n'y aura] plus d'autre lieu pour [les] ensevelir.
12 So Y schal do to this place, seith the Lord, and to dwelleris therof, that Y sette this citee as Tophet.
Je ferai ainsi à ce lieu-ci, dit l'Eternel, et à ses habitants; tellement que je réduirai cette ville au même état que Topheth;
13 And the housis of Jerusalem, and the housis of the kingis of Juda, schulen be as the place of Tophet; alle the vncleene housis, in whose roouys thei sacrifieden to al the chyualrie of heuene, and offriden moist sacrifices to alien goddis.
Et les maisons de Jérusalem, et les maisons des Rois de Juda seront souillées, comme le lieu de Topheth, à cause de toutes les maisons sur les toits desquelles ils ont fait des parfums à toute l'armée des cieux, et des aspersions à d'autres dieux.
14 Forsothe Jeremye cam fro Tophet, whidur the Lord hadde sente hym for to profesie; and he stood in the porche of the hous of the Lord,
Puis Jérémie s'en vint de Topheth là où l'Eternel l'avait envoyé pour prophétiser, et il se tint debout au parvis de la maison de l'Eternel, et dit à tout le peuple:
15 and seide to al the puple, The Lord of oostis, God of Israel, seith these thingis, Lo! Y schal bringe in on this citee, and on alle the citees therof, alle the yuelis whiche Y spak ayens it; for thei maden hard her nol, that thei herden not my wordis.
Ainsi a dit l'Eternel des armées, le Dieu d'Israël: voici, je m'en vais faire venir sur cette ville, et sur toutes ses villes, tout le mal que j'ai prononcé contre elle, parce qu'ils ont raidi leur cou, pour ne point écouter mes paroles.
