Jeremiah 11
1 The word that was maad of the Lord to Jeremye,
Este es el mensaje del Señor que llegó a Jeremías:
2 and seide, Here ye the wordis of this couenaunt, and speke ye to the men of Juda, and to the dwelleris of Jerusalem; and thou schalt seie to hem,
Escucha los términos de este acuerdo, y luego repítelos al pueblo de Judá y de Jerusalén.
3 The Lord God of Israel seith these thingis, Cursid be the man that herith not the wordis of this couenaunt,
Diles que esto es lo que dice el Señor, el Dios de Israel: Ustedes están malditos si no obedecen los términos de este acuerdo.
4 which Y comaundide to youre fadris, in the dai in which Y ledde hem out of the lond of Egipt, fro the irone furneis; and Y seide, Here ye my vois, and do ye alle thingis whiche Y comaundide to you, and ye schulen be in to a puple to me, and Y schal be in to God to you;
Yo hice este acuerdo con sus antepasados cuando los saqué de Egipto, del horno de hierro, diciendo: “Obedézcanme y hagan todo lo que les ordeno, y serán mi pueblo y yo seré su Dios”.
5 that Y reise the ooth which Y swoor to youre fadris, that Y schulde yyue to hem a lond flowynge with mylk and hony, as this dai is. And Y answeride, and seide, Amen, Lord.
Lo hice para cumplir lo que prometí a sus antepasados: darles una tierra que mana leche y miel, como sigue siendo hoy. Amén, Señor, respondí.
6 And the Lord seide to me, Crye thou alle these wordis in the citees of Juda, and with out Jerusalem, and seie thou, Here ye the wordis of this couenaunt, and do ye tho;
Entonces el Señor me dijo: Ve y anuncia públicamente todo este mensaje en las ciudades de Judá y en las calles de Jerusalén, diciendo Presta atención a los términos de este acuerdo y haz lo que dicen.
7 for Y witnessynge haue witnessid to youre fadris, in the dai in which Y ledde hem out of the lond of Egipt, `til to this dai; Y roos eerli, and witnesside, and seide, Here ye my vois.
Desde que saqué a sus antepasados de Egipto hasta ahora, les advertí seriamente una y otra vez, diciendo: “¡Hagan lo que les digo!”
8 And thei herden not, nether bowiden doun her eere, but thei yeden forth ech man in the schrewidnesse of his yuel herte; and Y brouyte in on hem alle the wordis of this couenaunt, which Y comaundide that thei schulden do, and thei diden not.
Pero se negaron a obedecer, no quisieron escuchar. En cambio, cada uno de ellos siguió su propio pensamiento obstinado y malvado. Les había ordenado que siguieran el acuerdo, pero no lo hicieron. Así que hice caer sobre ellos todas las maldiciones contenidas en el acuerdo.
9 And the Lord seide to me, Sweryng togidere is foundun in the men of Juda, and in the dwelleris of Jerusalem;
El Señor me dijo: Está ocurriendo una rebelión entre el pueblo de Judá y los que viven en Jerusalén.
10 thei turneden ayen to the formere wickidnessis of her fadris, that nolden here my wordis; and therfor these men yeden aftir alien goddis, for to serue hem; the hous of Israel and the hous of Juda maden voide my couenaunt, which Y made with the fadris of hem.
Han vuelto a los pecados de sus antepasados, que se negaron a obedecer lo que yo decía. Han ido a adorar a otros dioses. El pueblo de Israel y de Judá ha roto el acuerdo que hice con sus antepasados.
11 Wherfor the Lord seith these thingis, Lo! Y schal bringe in on hem yuels, of whiche thei schulen not mow go out; and thei schulen crie to me, and Y schal not here hem.
Así que esto es lo que dice el Señor: Voy a traer sobre ellos un desastre del que no podrán escapar. Me pedirán ayuda a gritos, pero no los escucharé.
12 And the citees of Juda and the dwellers of Jerusalem schulen go, and schulen crye to hem, to whiche thei offren sacrifices; and thei schulen not saue hem in the tyme of her turment.
Entonces los habitantes de las ciudades de Judá y Jerusalén irán a pedir ayuda a los dioses a los que han estado quemando incienso, pero estos dioses no podrán hacer nada para salvarlos en su momento de angustia.
13 For thou, Juda, thi goddis weren bi the noumbre of thi citees, and thou settidist auters of schenschipe, bi the noumbre of the weies of Jerusalem, auters to offre sacrifices to Baalym.
¡Ciertamente tienes tantos dioses como ciudades, Judá! Has construido altares vergonzosos, altares para quemar incienso a Baal. Tienes tantos altares como las calles de Jerusalén.
14 Therfor nyle thou preie for this puple, and take thou not heriyng and preier for hem; for Y schal not here in the tyme of the cry of hem to me, in the tyme of the turment of hem.
Jeremías, no ores por este pueblo. No clames por ayuda ni ofrezcas una oración en su favor, porque no los escucharé cuando clamen a mí en el momento de su angustia.
15 What is it, that my derlyng doith many greet trespassis in myn hous? whether hooli fleischis schulen do awei fro thee thi malice, in which thou hast glorie?
¿Qué derecho tienen las personas que amo a estar en mi Templo cuando han hecho tantas cosas malas? ¿Creen que la carne de los sacrificios los salvará? Cuando ocurra el desastre, ¿te alegrarás?
16 The Lord clepide thi name an olyue tre, fair, ful of fruyt, schapli; at the vois of a greet speche fier brent an hiy ther ynne, and the buyschis therof ben brent.
En un tiempo el Señor dijo que eras un olivo sano, lleno de hojas y que daba hermosos frutos. Pero con gran ruido le prenderá fuego, destruyendo sus ramas.
17 And the Lord of oostis that plauntide thee, spak yuel on thee, for the yuels of the hous of Israel, and of the hous of Juda, whiche thei diden to hem silf, and offriden to Baalym, to terre me to wraththe.
Yo, el Señor Todopoderoso, fui quien te plantó, pero he anunciado que serás destruido a causa de la maldad que ha cometido el pueblo de Israel y de Judá, enojándome al quemar incienso a Baal.
18 Forsothe, Lord, thou schewidist to me, and Y knew; thou schewidist to me the studies of hem.
El Señor me lo ha comunicado, para que lo sepa. Luego me mostró lo que realmente estaban haciendo.
19 And Y am as a mylde lomb, which is borun to slayn sacrifice; and Y knew not, that thei thouyten counsels on me, and seiden, Sende we a tre in to the brede of hym, and rase we hym awei fro the lond of lyueris, and his name be no more hadde in mynde.
Yo era como una ovejita confiada a la que llevan al matadero. No sabía que habían conspirado contra mí. Dijeron: “Destruyamos el árbol junto con todo lo que produce. Matémoslo para que nadie recuerde su nombre”.
20 But thou, Lord of oostis, that demest iustli, and preuest reynes and hertis, se Y thi veniaunce of hem; for to thee Y schewide my cause.
Apelo a ti, Señor Todopoderoso, tú que juzgas con justicia y examinas los pensamientos y sentimientos de la gente, déjame ver cómo los castigas, porque he dejado mi caso en tus manos.
21 Therfor the Lord seith these thingis to the men of Anathot, that seken thi lijf, and seien, Thou schalt not prophesie in the name of the Lord, and thou schalt not die in oure hondis.
Esto es lo que dice el Señor acerca de la gente de Anatot que trata de matarte, diciéndote: “No profetices en nombre del Señor, o te mataremos”.
22 Therfor the Lord of oostis seith these thingis, Lo! Y schal visite on hem; the yonge men of hem schulen die bi swerd, the sones of hem and the douytris of hem schulen die for hungur;
Esta es la respuesta del Señor Todopoderoso: Los castigaré. Sus jóvenes morirán a espada, sus hijos e hijas morirán de hambre.
23 and no relifs, ether children abidynge, schulen be of hem; for Y schal bringe ynne yuel on the men of Anathot, the yeer of the visitacioun of hem.
No quedará nadie porque traeré el desastre sobre el pueblo de Anatot en el momento en que sea castigado.
