Jeremiah 11
1 The word that was maad of the Lord to Jeremye,
La parole qui fut adressée à Jérémie de la part de Yahweh, en ces termes:
2 and seide, Here ye the wordis of this couenaunt, and speke ye to the men of Juda, and to the dwelleris of Jerusalem; and thou schalt seie to hem,
Entendez les paroles de cette alliance, et parlez aux hommes de Juda et aux habitants de Jérusalem.
3 The Lord God of Israel seith these thingis, Cursid be the man that herith not the wordis of this couenaunt,
Et tu leur diras: Ainsi parle Yahweh, Dieu d'Israël: Maudit soit l'homme qui n'écoute pas les paroles de cette alliance,
4 which Y comaundide to youre fadris, in the dai in which Y ledde hem out of the lond of Egipt, fro the irone furneis; and Y seide, Here ye my vois, and do ye alle thingis whiche Y comaundide to you, and ye schulen be in to a puple to me, and Y schal be in to God to you;
que j'ai prescrites à vos pères, au jour où je les ai fait sortir de la terre d'Egypte, de la fournaise à fer, en leur disant: Ecoutez ma voix et faites ces choses, selon tout ce que je vous commanderai, et vous serez mon peuple et moi je serai votre Dieu,
5 that Y reise the ooth which Y swoor to youre fadris, that Y schulde yyue to hem a lond flowynge with mylk and hony, as this dai is. And Y answeride, and seide, Amen, Lord.
afin que j'accomplisse le serment que j'ai fait à vos pères de leur donner un pays où coulent le lait et le miel, comme cela se voit aujourd'hui. Et je répondis: " Oui! Yahweh! "
6 And the Lord seide to me, Crye thou alle these wordis in the citees of Juda, and with out Jerusalem, and seie thou, Here ye the wordis of this couenaunt, and do ye tho;
Et Yahweh me dit: Crie toutes ces paroles dans les villes de Juda et dans les rues de Jérusalem, en disant: Ecoutez les paroles de cette alliance et mettez-les en pratique.
7 for Y witnessynge haue witnessid to youre fadris, in the dai in which Y ledde hem out of the lond of Egipt, `til to this dai; Y roos eerli, and witnesside, and seide, Here ye my vois.
Car j'ai instamment averti vos pères depuis le jour où je les ai fait monter du pays d'Egypte jusqu'à ce jour; je les ai sans cesse avertis, en disant: Ecoutez ma voix.
8 And thei herden not, nether bowiden doun her eere, but thei yeden forth ech man in the schrewidnesse of his yuel herte; and Y brouyte in on hem alle the wordis of this couenaunt, which Y comaundide that thei schulden do, and thei diden not.
Et ils n'ont ni écouté ni prêté l'oreille; chacun d'eux a marché selon l'opiniâtreté de son mauvais cœur. Et j'ai exécuté sur eux toutes les paroles de cette alliance, que je leur avait prescrit d'observer, et qu'ils n'ont pas observée.
9 And the Lord seide to me, Sweryng togidere is foundun in the men of Juda, and in the dwelleris of Jerusalem;
Yahweh me dit: Il s'est trouvé une conjuration chez les hommes de Juda, et chez les habitants de Jérusalem.
10 thei turneden ayen to the formere wickidnessis of her fadris, that nolden here my wordis; and therfor these men yeden aftir alien goddis, for to serue hem; the hous of Israel and the hous of Juda maden voide my couenaunt, which Y made with the fadris of hem.
Ils sont retournés aux iniquités de leurs premiers pères qui ont refusé d'écouter mes paroles, et ils sont allés après d'autres dieux pour les servir. La maison d'Israël et la maison de Juda ont violé mon alliance que j'avais conclue avec leurs pères.
11 Wherfor the Lord seith these thingis, Lo! Y schal bringe in on hem yuels, of whiche thei schulen not mow go out; and thei schulen crie to me, and Y schal not here hem.
C'est pourquoi ainsi parle Yahweh: Voici que je vais amener sur eux des malheurs, dont ils ne pourront sortir; et, s'ils crient vers moi, je ne les écouterai pas.
12 And the citees of Juda and the dwellers of Jerusalem schulen go, and schulen crye to hem, to whiche thei offren sacrifices; and thei schulen not saue hem in the tyme of her turment.
Et les villes de Juda et les habitants de Jérusalem iront invoquer les dieux auxquels ils offrent de l'encens; mais ces dieux ne les sauveront sûrement pas, au temps de leur malheur.
13 For thou, Juda, thi goddis weren bi the noumbre of thi citees, and thou settidist auters of schenschipe, bi the noumbre of the weies of Jerusalem, auters to offre sacrifices to Baalym.
Car aussi nombreux que tes villes, sont tes dieux, ô Juda, et aussi nombreux que les rues de Jérusalem, sont les autels que vous avez dressés à une infâme idole, les autels que vous avez dressés pour encenser Baal.
14 Therfor nyle thou preie for this puple, and take thou not heriyng and preier for hem; for Y schal not here in the tyme of the cry of hem to me, in the tyme of the turment of hem.
Et toi, n'intercède pas pour ce peuple, et n'élève point en leur faveur de supplication ni de prière; car je n'écouterai point lorsqu'ils m'invoqueront, au temps de leur malheur.
15 What is it, that my derlyng doith many greet trespassis in myn hous? whether hooli fleischis schulen do awei fro thee thi malice, in which thou hast glorie?
Qu'est-ce que ma bien-aimée a à faire dans ma maison? Des fourberies? Est-ce que les vœux et la chair sacrée enlèveront de dessus toi tes malheurs, que tu puisses te livrer à l'allégresse?
16 The Lord clepide thi name an olyue tre, fair, ful of fruyt, schapli; at the vois of a greet speche fier brent an hiy ther ynne, and the buyschis therof ben brent.
Olivier verdoyant, orné de beaux fruits: c'est le nom que t'avait donné Yahweh. Au bruit d'un grand fracas, il y met le feu, et ses rameaux sont brisés.
17 And the Lord of oostis that plauntide thee, spak yuel on thee, for the yuels of the hous of Israel, and of the hous of Juda, whiche thei diden to hem silf, and offriden to Baalym, to terre me to wraththe.
Yahweh des armées, qui t'avait planté, a décrété le malheur contre toi, à cause du crime de la maison d'Israël et de la maison de Juda, qu'ils ont commis pour m'irriter, en encensant Baal.
18 Forsothe, Lord, thou schewidist to me, and Y knew; thou schewidist to me the studies of hem.
Yahweh m'en a informé, et je l'ai su; ... alors vous m'avez fait connaître leurs œuvres!
19 And Y am as a mylde lomb, which is borun to slayn sacrifice; and Y knew not, that thei thouyten counsels on me, and seiden, Sende we a tre in to the brede of hym, and rase we hym awei fro the lond of lyueris, and his name be no more hadde in mynde.
Moi, j'étais comme un agneau familier, qu'on mène à la boucherie, et je ne savais qu'ils formaient des desseins contre moi: " Détruisons l'arbre avec son fruit! Retranchons-le de la terre des vivants, et qu'on ne se souvienne plus de son nom! "
20 But thou, Lord of oostis, that demest iustli, and preuest reynes and hertis, se Y thi veniaunce of hem; for to thee Y schewide my cause.
Mais Yahweh des armées juge avec justice; il sonde les reins et les cœurs; je verrai la vengeance que vous tirerez d'eux, car c'est à vous que j'ai confié ma cause.
21 Therfor the Lord seith these thingis to the men of Anathot, that seken thi lijf, and seien, Thou schalt not prophesie in the name of the Lord, and thou schalt not die in oure hondis.
C'est pourquoi ainsi parle Yahweh au sujet des hommes d'Anathoth qui en veulent à ta vie et qui disent: " Ne prophétise pas au nom de Yahweh, si tu ne veux mourir de notre main! "
22 Therfor the Lord of oostis seith these thingis, Lo! Y schal visite on hem; the yonge men of hem schulen die bi swerd, the sones of hem and the douytris of hem schulen die for hungur;
C'est pourquoi ainsi parle Yahweh des armées: Je vais les punir; les jeunes hommes mourront par l'épée; leurs fils et leurs filles mourront de faim.
23 and no relifs, ether children abidynge, schulen be of hem; for Y schal bringe ynne yuel on the men of Anathot, the yeer of the visitacioun of hem.
Aucun d'eux n'échappera; car j'amènerai le malheur sur les hommes d'Anathoth, l'année où je les visiterai.
