Jeremiah 10
1 The hous of Israel, here ye the word which the Lord spak on you.
Escucha la palabra que el Señor te dice, pueblo de Israel:
2 The Lord seith these thingis, Nyle ye lerne aftir the weies of hethene men, and nyle ye drede of the signes of heuene, whiche signes hethene men dreden.
Esto es lo que el Señor ha dicho: No vayas por el camino de las naciones; no temas a las señales del cielo, como estas las naciones lo hacen.
3 For the lawis of puplis ben veyn, for whi the werk of hondis of a crafti man hath kit doun with an axe a tre of the forest.
Porque lo que es temido por el pueblo es necio; es obra de los obreros; porque un árbol es cortado por el obrero en el bosque con su hacha.
4 He made it fair with siluer and gold; with naylis and hameris he ioynede it togidere, that it be not loosid.
Lo hacen hermoso con plata y oro; Lo hacen fuerte con clavos y martillos, para que no se mueva.
5 Idols ben maad in the licnesse of a palm tree, and schulen not speke; tho schulen be takun and be borun, for tho moun not go; therfor nyle ye drede tho, for tho moun nether do yuel, nethir wel.
Es como una palmera erguida en un jardín de plantas, y no tiene voz; tiene que ser levantada, porque no tiene poder para caminar. No tengas miedo de ello; porque no tiene poder para hacer el mal y no puede hacer ningún bien.
6 Lord, noon is lijk thee; thou art greet, and thi name is greet in strengthe.
No hay nadie como tú, oh Señor; Eres grande y tu nombre es grande en poder.
7 A! thou king of folkis, who schal not drede thee? for whi onour is thin among alle wise men of hethene men, and in alle the rewmes of hem noon is lijk thee.
¿Quién no te temerá, oh Rey de las naciones? porque te lo mereces, porque entre todos los sabios de las naciones y en todos sus reinos, no hay nadie como tú.
8 Thei schulen be preued, vnwise and foolis togidere; the techyng of her vanyte is a tre.
Todos ellos son torpes y necios; en su enseñanza de vanidades; pues su dios es madera.
9 Siluer wlappid is brouyt fro Tharsis, and gold fro Ophaz; it is the werk of a crafti man, and of the hond of a worchere in metel; iacynct and purpur ben the clothing of tho; alle these thingis ben the werk of werk men.
La plata martillada en placas se envía desde Tarsis, y el oro desde Ufaz, el trabajo del experto y de las manos del trabajador del oro; Azul y púrpura es su vestimenta, todo el trabajo de hombres expertos.
10 Forsothe the Lord is veri God; he is God lyuynge, and a kyng euerlastynge; the erthe schal be mouyd togidere of his indignacioun, and hethene men schulen not suffre the manaassing of hym.
Pero el Señor es el Dios verdadero; él es el Dios vivo y un rey eterno; cuando está enojado, la tierra tiembla de miedo y las naciones ceden ante su ira.
11 Therfor thus ye schulen seie to hem, Goddis that maden not heuene and erthe, perische fro erthe, and fro these thingis that ben vndur heuene.
Esto es lo que debes decirles: los dioses que no han hecho los cielos y la tierra serán cortados de la tierra y de debajo de los cielos.
12 He is God, that makith the erthe in his strengthe, makith redi the world in his wisdom, and stretchith forth heuenes bi his prudence.
Él hizo la tierra por su poder, hizo al mundo fuerte en su lugar por su sabiduría, y por su sabio designio los cielos se han extendido.
13 At his vois he yyueth the multitude of watris in heuene, and he reisith mystis fro the endis of erthe; he makith leitis into reyn, and ledith out wynd of his tresouris.
Al sonido de su voz hay una masa de aguas en los cielos, y él hace que las nieblas suban desde los confines de la tierra; hace truenos para la lluvia y envía el viento desde sus almacenes.
14 Ech man is maad a fool of kunnyng, ech crafti man is schent in a grauun ymage; for whi that that he wellide togidere is fals, and no spirit is in tho.
Entonces cada hombre se vuelve como una bestia sin conocimiento; Todos los trabajadores del oro son avergonzados por la imagen que ha creado; porque su imagen de metal es un engaño, y no hay aliento en ellos.
15 Tho ben veyn, and a werk worthi of scorn; tho schulen perische in the tyme of her visitacioun.
No son nada, una obra de escarnio; en el momento de su castigo, la destrucción los alcanzará.
16 The part of Jacob is not lijk these, for he that formede alle thingis is God of Jacob, and Israel is the yerde of his eritage; the Lord of oostis is name to hym.
La herencia de Jacob no es así; porque el creador de todas las cosas es su herencia; el Señor de los ejércitos es su nombre.
17 Thou that dwellist in bisegyng, gadere fro the lond thi schenschipe;
Reúne tus bienes y sal de la tierra, oh tú que estás encerrado en la ciudad amurallada.
18 for the Lord seith these thingis, Lo! Y schal caste awei fer the dwelleris of the loond in this while; and Y schal yyue tribulacioun to hem, so that thei be not foundun.
Porque el Señor ha dicho: Enviaré a la gente en vuelo como una piedra de la tierra en este momento, afligiendolos para que estén conscientes de ello.
19 Wo to me on my sorewe, my wounde is ful yuel; forsothe Y seide, Pleynli this is my sikenesse, and Y schal bere it.
¡El dolor es mío porque estoy herido! mi herida puede no estar bien; y dije: “Cruel es mi enfermedad, puede que no me libere de ella”.
20 My tabernacle is distried, alle my roopis ben brokun; my sones yeden out fro me, and ben not; noon is that schal stretche forth more my tente, and schal reyse my skynnes.
Mi tienda está derribada y todas mis cuerdas están rotas; mis hijos se han alejado de mí, y ya no existen; ya no hay nadie para ayudar a estirar mi tienda y colgar mis cortinas.
21 For the scheepherdis diden folili, and souyten not the Lord; therfor thei vndurstoden not, and alle the flok of hem is scaterid.
Porque los guardianes de las ovejas se han vuelto como bestias, no miran al Señor en busca de dirección, así que no lo han hecho sabiamente y todos sus rebaños han sido esparcidos.
22 Lo! the vois of hering cometh, and a greet mouynge togidere fro the lond of the north, that it sette the citees of Juda in to wildirnesse, and a dwellynge place of dragouns.
Las noticias están sucediendo, mira, está viniendo, un gran temblor viene del norte del país, para que las ciudades de Judá se conviertan en residuos y se conviertan en el lugar donde viven los chacales.
23 Lord, Y woot, that the weie of a man is not of hym, nether it is of a man that he go, and dresse hise steppis.
Oh Señor, estoy consciente que no depende del hombre su camino; el hombre no tiene el poder de guiar sus pasos.
24 Lord, chastise thou me; netheles in doom and not in thi strong veniaunce, lest perauenture thou dryue me to nouyt.
Oh SEÑOR, líbrame, pero con sabios propósitos; No en tu ira, o me reduces a nada.
25 Schede out thin indignacioun on hethene men that knewen not thee, and on prouynces that clepiden not thi name to help; for thei eeten Jacob, and deuouriden hym, and wastiden hym, and destrieden the onour of hym.
Deja que tu ira se suelte sobre las naciones que no te conocen, y sobre las familias que no adoran tu nombre; porque han devorado a Jacob, en verdad lo han devorado y acabó con él e hizo de sus campos ruinas.
