Isaiah 66
1 The Lord seith these thingis, Heuene is my seete, and the erthe is the stool of my feet. Which is this hous, which ye schulen bilde to me, and which is this place of my reste?
Ainsi dit l’Éternel: Les cieux sont mon trône, et la terre le marchepied de mes pieds: quelle est la maison que vous me bâtirez, et quel est le lieu de mon repos?
2 Myn hond made alle these thingis, and alle these thingis ben maad, seith the Lord; but to whom schal Y biholde, no but to a pore man and contrit in spirit, and greetli dredynge my wordis?
Toutes ces choses, ma main les a faites, et toutes ces choses ont été, dit l’Éternel. Mais c’est à celui-ci que je regarderai: à l’affligé, et à celui qui a l’esprit contrit et qui tremble à ma parole.
3 He that offrith an oxe, is as he that sleeth a man; he that sleeth a scheep, is as he that brayneth a dogge; he that offrith an offryng, is as he that offrith swynes blood; he that thenketh on encense, is as he that blessith an idol; thei chesiden alle thes thingis in her weies, and her soule delitide in her abhomynaciouns.
Celui qui égorge un bœuf, frappe un homme; celui qui sacrifie un agneau, brise la nuque à un chien; celui qui offre un gâteau, c’est du sang de porc; celui qui présente le mémorial de l’encens [est comme] celui qui bénit une idole. Comme ils ont choisi leurs propres chemins, et que leur âme a pris plaisir à leurs choses exécrables,
4 Wherfor and Y schal chese the scornyngis of hem, and Y schal brynge to hem tho thingis whiche thei dredden; for Y clepide, and noon was that answeride; Y spak, and thei herden not; and thei diden yuel bifor myn iyen, and chesiden tho thingis whiche Y nolde.
moi aussi, je choisirai leurs calamités, et je ferai venir sur eux ce qu’ils craignent, parce que j’ai crié, et il n’y a eu personne qui réponde; j’ai parlé, et ils n’ont pas écouté, et ont fait ce qui est mauvais à mes yeux, et ont choisi ce en quoi je ne prends pas plaisir.
5 Here ye the word of the Lord, whiche quaken at his word; youre britheren hatynge you, and castynge a wey for my name, seiden, The Lord be glorified, and we schulen se in youre gladnesse; forsothe thei schulen be schent.
Écoutez la parole de l’Éternel, vous qui tremblez à sa parole: Vos frères qui vous haïssaient, qui vous rejetaient à cause de mon nom, disaient: Que l’Éternel soit glorifié, et que nous voyions votre joie! Mais eux, ils seront confus.
6 The vois of the puple fro the citee, the vois fro the temple, the vois of the Lord yeldynge a reward to hise enemyes.
Une voix de tumulte [vient] de la ville, une voix, du temple, une voix de l’Éternel qui rend la récompense à ses ennemis.
7 Bifor that sche trauelide of child, sche childide; bifor that the sorewe of hir child beryng cam, sche childide a sone.
Avant qu’elle ait été en travail, elle a enfanté; avant que les douleurs lui soient venues, elle a donné le jour à un [enfant] mâle.
8 Who herde euere suche a thing, and who siy a thing lijk this? Whether the erthe schal trauele of child in o dai, ether whether a folk schal be childide togidere? For whi Sion trauelede of child, and childide hir sones.
Qui a entendu une chose pareille? Qui a vu de telles choses? Fera-t-on qu’un pays enfante en un seul jour? Une nation naîtra-t-elle en une fois? Car aussitôt que Sion a été en travail, elle a enfanté ses fils.
9 Whether that Y `my silf that make othere to bere child, schal not ber child? seith the Lord. Whether Y that yyue generacioun to othere men, schal be bareyn? seith thi Lord God.
Amènerais-je jusqu’au moment de l’enfantement, et je ne ferais pas enfanter? dit l’Éternel. Moi, qui fais enfanter, je fermerais [la matrice]? dit ton Dieu.
10 Be ye glad with Jerusalem, and alle ye that louen that, make ful out ioye ther ynne; alle ye that mourenen on that Jerusalem, make ye ioye with it in ioie;
Réjouissez-vous avec Jérusalem, et égayez-vous à cause d’elle, vous tous qui l’aimez; tressaillez de joie avec elle, vous tous qui menez deuil sur elle;
11 that bothe ye souke, and be fillid of the tetis and coumfort therof, that ye mylke, and flowe in delicis, of al maner glorie therof.
parce que vous téterez et serez rassasiés du sein de ses consolations, parce que vous sucerez et que vous vous délecterez de l’abondance de sa gloire.
12 For whi the Lord seith these thingis, Lo! Y schal bowe doun on it, as a flood of pees, and as a flowynge streem the glorie of hethene men, which ye schulen souke; ye schulen be borun at tetis, and on knees thei schulen speke plesauntly to you.
Car ainsi dit l’Éternel: Voici, j’étends sur elle la paix comme une rivière, et la gloire des nations comme un torrent qui déborde; et vous téterez, vous serez portés sur les bras et caressés sur les genoux.
13 As if a modir spekith faire to ony child, so Y schal coumforte you, and ye schulen be coumfortid in Jerusalem.
Comme quelqu’un que sa mère console, ainsi moi, je vous consolerai; et vous serez consolés dans Jérusalem.
14 Ye schulen se, and youre herte schal haue ioie, and youre boonys schulen buriowne as an erbe. And the hond of the Lord schal be knowun in hise seruauntis, and he schal haue indignacioun to hise enemyes.
Et vous le verrez, et votre cœur se réjouira, et vos os fleuriront comme l’herbe verte; et la main de l’Éternel sera connue en ses serviteurs, et il verse sa colère sur ses ennemis.
15 For lo! the Lord schal come in fier, and as a whirlwynd hise charis, to yelde in indignacioun hise strong veniaunce, and his blamyng in the flawme of fier.
Car voici, l’Éternel viendra en feu, et ses chars, comme un tourbillon, pour rendre sa colère avec fureur, et son tancement avec des flammes de feu.
16 For whi the Lord schal deme in fier, and in hys swerd to ech fleisch; and slayn men of the Lord schulen be multiplied,
Car l’Éternel entrera en jugement avec toute chair, par le feu, et par son épée; et les tués de l’Éternel seront en grand nombre.
17 that weren halewid, and gessiden hem cleene, in gardyns aftir o yate with ynne; that eten swynes fleisch, and abhomynacioun, and a mows, thei schulen be waastid togidere, seith the Lord.
Ceux qui se sanctifient et se purifient dans les jardins, en en suivant un seul [qui est] au milieu, mangeant la chair du porc et des choses exécrables et des souris, périront tous ensemble, dit l’Éternel.
18 Forsothe Y come to gadere togidere the werkis of hem, and the thouytis of hem, with alle folkis and langagis; and thei schulen come, and schulen se my glorie.
Et moi, … leurs actes et leurs pensées [sont devant moi]. [Le temps] est venu de rassembler toutes les nations et les langues; et elles viendront et verront ma gloire.
19 And Y schal sette a signe in hem, and Y schal sende of hem that ben sauyd to hethene men, in to the see, in to Affrik, and in to Liddia, and to hem that holden arowe, in to Italie, and Greek lond, to ilis fer, to hem that herden not of me, and sien not my glorie. And thei schulen telle my glorie to hethene men,
Et je mettrai au milieu d’eux un signe; et j’enverrai les réchappés d’entre eux vers les nations: à Tarsis, à Pul, et à Lud, qui bandent l’arc; à Tubal et à Javan, aux îles lointaines, qui n’ont pas entendu parler de moi et n’ont pas vu ma gloire; et ils raconteront ma gloire parmi les nations.
20 and thei schulen brynge alle youre britheren of alle folkis a yifte to the Lord, in horsis, and charis, and in literis, and in mulis, and in cartis, to myn hooli hil, Jerusalem, seith the Lord; as if the sones of Israel bryngen a yifte in a cleene vessel in to the hous of the Lord.
Et ils amèneront tous vos frères, d’entre toutes les nations, en offrande à l’Éternel, sur des chevaux, et sur des chars, et dans des voitures couvertes, et sur des mulets, et sur des dromadaires, à ma montagne sainte, à Jérusalem, dit l’Éternel, comme les fils d’Israël apportent l’offrande dans un vase pur à la maison de l’Éternel.
21 And Y schal take of hem in to preestis and dekenes, seith the Lord.
Et j’en prendrai aussi d’entre eux pour sacrificateurs, pour Lévites, dit l’Éternel.
22 For as newe heuenes and newe erthe, whiche Y make to stonde bifore me, seith the Lord, so youre seed schal stonde, and youre name.
Car, comme les nouveaux cieux et la nouvelle terre que je fais, subsisteront devant moi, dit l’Éternel, ainsi subsisteront votre semence et votre nom.
23 And a monethe schal be of monethe, and a sabat of sabat; ech man schal come for to worschipe bifore my face, seith the Lord.
Et il arrivera que, de nouvelle lune à nouvelle lune, et de sabbat en sabbat, toute chair viendra pour se prosterner devant moi, dit l’Éternel.
24 And thei schulen go out, and schulen se the careyns of men, that trespassiden ayens me; the worm of hem schal not die, and the fier of hem schal not be quenchid; and thei schulen be `til to fillyng of siyt to ech man.
Et ils sortiront, et verront les cadavres des hommes qui se sont rebellés contre moi; car leur ver ne mourra pas, et leur feu ne s’éteindra pas, et ils seront en horreur à toute chair.
